Chapter 20 Beast Fencer Ben
Well this chapter will be pretty Nali focused. Personally Nali is my favorite ship in Fairy Tail. I know Natsu and Lucy are at least ten times more likely to get to get together since Lisanna is just a background character with no purpose. She should have become a main character though, what was the point in bringing her back otherwise? I've heard fanservice, but that was a poor choice on Hiro Mashima's part in my opinion. Ah well, I get to make this story where she gets a better role.
Lisanna flew them to the last town that was reported to have been robbed by Ben. She landed and returned her arms and feet back to normal, panting slightly. Noticing her slight exhaustion, Natsu looked at her in concern.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Yeah just tired. I guess I should feel lucky you're not a big heavy guy," Lisanna said.
"I'm still pretty muscular though," Natsu said showing off his biceps.
"Yeah, you are," Lisanna said as she admired his well-formed arms.
Her own arms and legs began to ache.
"Guess I overdid it with flying all the way here," she said.
"Well, you just take a break for now," Natsu said as he bent down and motioned to his back. "Come on, my turn."
She gave him a small smile as she climbed on his back to wait for her limbs to recover. They headed to the bank in the middle of the town.
"Excuse me. We're Fairy Tail wizards here to bring in your bank robber!" Natsu said as he entered with Lisanna on his back.
"Ah, wonderful!" the manager of the bank said. "Please come into my office!"
He lead them into his office where Natsu let Lisanna down. They sat in the two seats across from the manager and looked at him.
"So you have a robber with a sword that can control animals huh?" Natsu asked.
"Yes," the manager said. "Beast Fencer Ben robbed us of ten million jewel! You must get that money back!"
"Don't worry mister, Natsu here is a great tracker," Lisanna said.
"Yeah, I could smell some old animal scents when we stepped inside," Natsu agreed.
"Oh, you're a tracking wizard eh?" the manager asked. "That's perfect, but I hope you're skilled in combat as well, cause Beast Fencer Ben has a lot of forest monsters under his control."
"Don't worry, I'm an S-class Wizard. Your money is good as back!" Natsu said.
"Wonderful! Good luck! When you get back with Ben and the stolen you'll both be awarded a million jewel!"
They headed out the door of the bank. Lisanna's limbs were mostly better now.
"You wanna grab a bite to eat?" Natsu asked.
"Sure, why not?" Lisanna asked.
They headed to the nearest restaurant they could find. They spent the time chatting about what had gone in each world in the time they'd been apart.
"So how did you meet up with Lucy?" Lisanna asked.
"Wendy and I heard there was a Salamander in Hargeon, so we went to investigate. I hope it might be Igneel but it was really someone pretending to be me," Natsu said. "The guy was trying to lure girls in to kidnap and make slaves. Lucy was one of them, I rescued her and then she told me she wanted to join Fairy Tail."
"Hmm… the Lucy from Edolas joined after saving you from a bunch of Royal Guards," Lisanna recalled. "You know its kinda weird. A lot of people in our guild are completely different from their Edolas counterparts. You're a crybaby that can actually take vehicles, Gray wears so much clothes and is your best friend, and Lucy is a sadist. I was pretty surprised when I saw Mira, she's changed a lot."
"I know, after you died… or vanished, she became a totally different person," Natsu said.
He went on to tell her about everything that happened since Lucy joined.
"Then when got back from the Tower of Heaven, we had the Fantasia Parade."
"And the Miss Fairy Tail Contest?" Lisanna asked, remembering that from her younger years.
"Yeah," Natsu said.
"Who won this year?" she asked.
"Wendy of course!" Natsu said.
Lisanna chuckled. "Not surprising, she's really cute. Though I'm guess Mira came in pretty high too? You know, I was surprised when she told me she'd become a bikini model for Sorcerer Weekly."
Natsu held back a laugh. "Actually, Mira came in last!"
"What?" Lisanna exclaimed.
"Yeah, she just blew the contest to make fun of Gajeel. I heard he tied her up or something so he could show us a song."
"That jerk!" Lisanna frowned.
"Yeah… I have to admit I kind of liked how she made fun of Gajeel. You should have seen the look on his face."
Natsu gorged himself on a burger and fries while Lisanna had a salad and sandwich, she was vegetarian due to her love for animals. They finished their meal and then headed out into the forest. Natsu followed the scent of the animals from the bank. There was a human scent as well mixed with the smell of blood and metal. They walked for over an hour before a large blue wolf yellow eyes, a warg- appeared and saw them. It howled.
"Lisanna!" Natsu put himself in front of her.
The wolf's howl was met with others. It then turned its menacing eyes at them and charged with its fangs bared.
"Fire Dragon: Iron Fist!"
The wolf was sent flying with a yelp. It hit a nearby tree and lay there.
"Oh, poor thing," Lisanna said as she looked at the creature.
"Sorry Lisanna, but we can't let ourselves become lunch," Natsu said.
She nodded, knowing he was right.
"Get ready, there's more coming!" Natsu said.
"Take over!" she said.
Her arms and legs transformed into those of a bird. She flapped her wings and ascended into the sky. She looked up ahead and saw a wolf pack heading there way along with-
"Natsu look out! There's a man riding a tiger leading the wolf pack! He has a sword!" she called.
"Gotcha!" he said.
Within seconds, the wolves surrounded Natsu. They stopped just short as Beast Fencer Ben approached, he looked down at Natsu on the back of a white tiger. Ben wore a skirt made of leaves and was bare chested.
"A wizard in my forest? Get out! This is my kingdom!"
"So you're the Beast Boy huh?" Natsu said.
"I'm Beast Fencer Ben!" the jungle man said. "Now leave or I'll have my wolves eat you!"
"Bring it on!" Natsu said. "You're facing an S-class wizard!"
"S-class smess class! Get him!"
The wolves all charged, growling ferociously.
"Fire Dragon Wing Attack!" Natsu said, spinning around and throwing ropes of fire around.
The wolves yelped as the attack hit them. Unfortunately, the fire also hit the forest around them. Flames began to burn.
"Oh no!" Lisanna said.
"My forest! How dare you destroy my kingdom!" Ben shouted. "This place is the home of all my subjects!"
He stuck the sword in the ground. A wave of blue magic energy flew from the sword, Natsu felt the wave on his feet. He was summoning more animals to do his bidding!
"Natsu please don't hurt anymore animals than you need to!" Lisanna screamed.
Ben looked up and saw the flying girl.
"Well, well. I almost missed you girly! Nice wings!" he said.
Lisanna frowned at him, not touched at all by the compliment. Up here she was safe from any beasts on the ground. That wave hadn't gone into the air so Ben didn't have any birds to go after her. She swooped down at him, if she could get that sword away from him maybe she could disengage his control over any animals before they came and hurt Natsu or got hurt themselves.
As she swept, however, the tiger mount leapt up at her. She screamed, narrowly missing having her neck bitten. Lisanna flew back up, she needed a distraction if she was going to take the sword. She flew up over the treetops, she'd be safer from the tiger up there. Ben suddenly got off the mount however, he then leapt up onto the branches. He jumped from branch to branch, he was upon her! His sword raised.
She flapped her wings, the saber cutting one of them. She grunted as her arms returned to normal. Her wound wasn't serious, only a scratch on her arm, but now she was falling! She landed on her back.
"Lisanna!" Natsu shouted as he wrestled the tiger.
Lisanna looked up in time to see a new beast, a mountain cat emerge from the forest. She was sure it was gonna pounce on her for a moment. But Beast Fencer Ben placed himself in front of her as the cat charged. The fencer held up his saber, seeming to call the beast off.
"Heel! I want this girl for myself!" Ben said. "A king needs a queen after all."
Lisanna made a disgusted face. This reminded her of when she'd been in the clutches of a Gorian as a child.
"No one's taking Lisanna!" Natsu roared as he suddenly managed to throw the tiger away.
The dragon slayer then ran at Ben, shooting fire at him. The fencer leapt into the air as flames hit the spot where he'd been. Natsu placed himself in front of Lisanna who managed to pull herself up. The mountain cat growled.
"Please don't hurt it Natsu!" Lisanna said.
"Fine, maybe I can just scare it off!" Natsu said.
He shot a little more fire in the cat's direction. It yelped and retreated, its fear of fire overriding the control Ben's saber had over it. They turned to him as he looked down at them from above. He began to leap through the trees and retreat.
"You're not getting away!" Lisanna said. "No one treats me like property to just take as they please!"
She did another take over, turning into a humanoid rabbit form. She leapt, making immense strides with her powerful feet. When Ben landed in a tree, she kicked it. The tree went crashing down, and the Beast Fencer ended up falling to the forest floor. He got up in time to receive a strong kick from Lisanna. His sword dropped to the forest with a clatter as he was knocked out.
"Got him!" she said.
Natsu soon caught up to them. Smoke trailing behind him.
"Nice work Lisanna, you got him!"
"Yeah, but we should probably do something about that fire before it gets out of control," Lisanna said as she noticed the smoke.
Natsu made a backfire to burn into his other one, they burned each other out. A section of the forest was burned, but not a large one. With Ben bounded and tied, they brought him into town with Natsu carrying the criminal while Lisanna carried the saber. She couldn't help but admire it's craftsmanship, a silver guard with a tiger head and the black and white handle. The animals under its control including the tiger and wolves had all retreated once Ben was defeated.
Soon the two Fairy Tail wizards and their captive emerged from the forest and went to the bank.
"Ah you got the fugitive but where is our money?" the manager said.
"Oh uh… we didn't get any money from him," Natsu said. "It might have gotten burned in those fires!"
The manager gave a disappointed look.
"Oh, well I'm afraid without the returned money, I'm going to have to only give you each two hundred and fifty thousand jewel!"
"Aww come on!" Natsu said.
"Its your fault for burning our stolen money!" the manager said. "But I can let you keep Ben's Saber as an additional reward if you want."
"No thanks, I don't need that," the dragon slayer said.
Lisanna, however, looked at the saber. "I think I will though! I had some practice with a sword for a while. This could really suit me!"
She took the saber and unsheathed it. Her sword in Edolas had a different appearance, not a fencing saber but she'd used a shield in conjunction with so she could easily use this the same way. The bank manager gave them each a two hundred and fifty thousand jewel, much less than what they'd been promised but better than nothing.
They turned and made their way back to Fairy Tail.
Well, there's another chapter done. Hope you guys liked it, the battle might have been short but ah well. Lisanna got herself a new sword which can complement her time in Edolas.
