Chapter 21 Lucy's Confession and Lisanna's Sword

Well, I guess you can tell by the title what is going to happen somewhat. Lucy is gonna confess that she likes Natsu. Meanwhile, Lisanna shows her guildmates her new sword as well as her skills with it. But will that sword actually be used against Lucy? Well just read to find out, cause I have no idea as I'm simply writing this summary. We'll see what happens as I write this.

Natsu and Lisanna made their way back to Fairy Tail. Natsu had to endure the torture of being on a train (at least it was torture for him). He felt his lunch ready to come out. The dragon slayer so wanted to walk but it would have taken too much time. Lisanna watched him with a pitying smile. She sighed.

"You're so cute when you're all sick and helpless like this!" she said with a blush.

"Shut up!" Natsu said.

He visited by an urge to punch her. But the motion sickness held him back, even if he had been able to, Lisanna was just too nice for him to hit voluntarily, same with Wendy or Lucy. If it were Erza or Gray that would have been a different story. Erza was one of the rougher girls so he didn't mind getting physical with her, of course she would usually pommel him unless he happened to be angry enough to overcome her, which wasn't unless Wendy was in danger.

Lisanna smiled at Natsu's fiery spirit even though he was barely able to move. She sat next to him, and placed her head on his lap. She then began to stroke his spiky pink hair. That eased the feeling a little bit. Natsu let out a small breath of relief. It wasn't a whole lot of difference but better than nothing. Just like their reward.

"It was nice to go on a job with you Lisanna," he said. "I can't tell you how… glad I am to have you back."

Lisanna smiled wider and blushed. "Thanks Natsu."

They soon arrived back at the Fairy Tail Guild Hall.

"Welcome back you two!" Mirajane called as she handed some beer to Macao and Wakaba. "How'd the mission go?"

"Fine, we got the criminal, but we didn't recover the money so we didn't get the full reward," Lisanna told her sister. "But I did get the criminals saber as well."

"Oh too bad about the reward. But… were you injured?" Mirajane asked, throwing the drink carrier to the ground and grabbing her little sisters arms.

"Mira!" Lisanna exclaimed.

There was no time to stop the elder sister as she raised the younger one's arms up and scanned each of them. On one, she noticed a sleep scratch. Natsu sweat dropped as Mira turned her eyes toward him in a demonic glare.

"I said if she got even a single scratch…" Mira started.

"Mira wait! It would have been much worse if Natsu hadn't been there!" Lisanna said. "That guy cut my wing and had me down on the ground, but Natsu beat him up before he… could do anything."

Lisanna didn't say anything else for fear of upsetting her elder sister. Mira frowned for a moment but softened it and gave a small smile.

"Well, thank you Natsu! I'll let you off the hook since you prevented my sister from getting hurt worse."

"Thanks," Natsu said still a bit scared. "Where is Wendy?"

"She isn't back yet," Mira said. "Elfman isn't either. Most of the members took farther away jobs. But Lucy and Erza are here. Which reminds me Natsu, Laxus will be holding the meeting for the candidate choices pretty soon."

"Oh I know who I'm gonna recommend," Natsu said. "Wendy."

"Sure you aren't playing favorites?" Mirajane teased. "But I would probably agree that Wendy is ready, and I'm sure Erza will agree as well. How about Lucy?"

"Hmm… I'm not sure. But I think seeing as she's not taking a solo mission, she ain't gonna cut it," Natsu said.

He looked at Lucy in the corner where she was talking with Levy, Erza, and Happy. Lucy glanced at him and smiled what looked like… a nervous smile.

Lucy looked at him. The pink haired dragon slayer that had stolen her heart without her even knowing it for so long. By his side was the white haired girl that he had been so close to. Lisanna now had a sword in her hands, where did she get that? Lucy was reminded of Erza the moment she saw the sword. It seemed to fit Lisanna with its tiger head guard and black and white striped handle. Lucy wasn't sure how strong Lisanna was, but she was a wizard that could fight for herself, unlike Lucy who depended on her Celestial spirits. Otherwise she was pretty much helpless.

But Lucy could not lose! She now knew that she had feelings for Natsu, she had to act fast and take him before Lisanna made her move! Wendy and Carla had told her that Natsu and Lisanna had been close, almost like a couple. Maybe if Lisanna hadn't disappeared they would have ended up together. Lucy was glad that Lisanna was still alive but that didn't prevent her from feeling a little endangered.

She felt herself going red as she looked at Natsu. She opened her mouth but no sound seemed able to come out. She wanted to call his name… but no… that could draw too much attention. She could walk up and ask him to speak somewhere alone. She tried to push herself up, but her legs felt like they were made of lead. Lucy imagined what she would say.

Natsu. I just realized I love you!

No, too direct.

Natsu, I like you! I want to be your girlfriend!

That might have been better. Though maybe take out the last part. But what if… what if he said no? She'd been worried about her rejecting him making things awkward since they were on the same team. Now a few months later she was going to create the same scenario. If he rejected her, what would she do? Lucy didn't know. She'd be on his team after all, could she stand being on it if he rejected her? Or would the pain of seeing him and never being able to be with him that be too much?

Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked to see Juvia Lockster, a former member of Phantom Lord who had joined them after Fairy Tail defeated that guild. Juvia was madly in love with Gray and thought of Lucy (as well as any female mage) as her love rival.

"Go and get him Lucy!" the water mage said. "I'm glad we're not love rivals anymore!"

"We were never that to begin with!" Lucy told her. "How did you even know?"

"I was spying on you," Juvia confessed. "I heard you telling Erza and Levy about it earlier while they were gone."

"You are one creepy chick!" Lucy said.

"What are you talking about?" a voice called.

Natsu had walked over to them. Lucy turned bright red as she looked at the dragon slayer, Lisanna was right next to him. She smiled a kind smile at the rest of them. Why did she have to be so nice? It would have been easier for Lucy to do this if she were hateable!

Oh no what am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? Lucy thought.

The silence was broken by Erza.

"Well, I see you got a new sword Lisanna. Did you just buy it with your quest money?"

"No, it belonged to that criminal Natsu and I just caught," Lisanna said. "We were allowed to take it, and I felt it would suit me since it can control animals. I used a sword in Edolas after all."

"Hmm… I'd like to see your skills if you don't mind," Erza said. "Why don't we have a little sparring matching."

Lisanna hesitated. "Um… alright. I suppose I could do a little bit. But nothing too crazy please!"

Erza smiled then looked at Lucy, giving her a wink. Lucy smiled back, understanding. Erza was going to lure Lisanna away from Natsu so Lucy could talk to him. Now was her chance! Erza lead Lisanna to the middle of the guildhall, many guild members looked, eager to watch the skill development of their absentee member. Lisanna drew the saber as Erza drew her own sword. She didn't requip into any special armor as they were just using swords, and with Lisanna's takeover magic, all her attacks were physical.

Natsu made to walk over and watch the fight, but Lucy (seizing the chance Erza gave her) grabbed his wrist.

"Natsu, I really need to talk to you! Come here!" she said as she ran off with him to the guild cellar.

Lucy turned and faced Natsu, her heart beating rapidly.

"Why'd you bring me down here! I wanted to see Lisanna fight Erza!"

"There's something I really need to tell you!" Lucy said. "I… I like you!"

Natsu blinked. "Hey I knew that!"

Huh? Lucy thought. He knew?

"I mean I know I can be a bit hard to like sometimes given how destructive I am. I'm the king of breaking stuff. Sometimes I wondered if you did like me since you kicked me a lot whenever I came to visit!"

Lucy growled. This guy was so dumb!

"No! I mean I like like you!" Lucy screamed.

"Like like? What you mean?" Natsu asked.

"Arr! You dumby! I like you! As in I have a romantic interest in you!" Lucy flailed her arms around wildly.

That got it through his thick skull.

"Romantic. That means you… ah! You like me as a boyfriend!?" Natsu yelled.

Happy watched as Lucy dragged his best friend off.

"Hmm… should I tell Lisanna? That would create drama. Hehe!" he grinned.

At that moment, Lisanna took a step forward slowly. This was different from the sword she had used in Edolas which had had only a small blade at the top. It was less lethal, more meant to inflict scratching wounds rather than fatal ones. Once Lisanna scratched her opponent, they would turn into a mouse and be unable to do any damage to her allies. A way to win the battle without resorting to hurting her opponent too much. This sword however had full blade that could cut, and the techniques she learned in Edolas were easy to apply.

Lisanna advanced and struck wit her sword, aiming deliberately at Erza's armored torso. She didn't want to hurt her guildmate but she could at least attempt to score points by making a direct hit. Erza easily blocked the blow, using her superior strength to bat it down. Unlike Lisanna she was using a two handed sword which could offer more powerful blows. Lisanna didn't deter however, she struck against quickly, delivering a series of slashes and cuts. Erza managed to block them, and didn't even move an inch. She kicked Lisanna lightly, knocking her back.

"Not bad, though I think Pantherlily is a better bladesman. I'm impressed though Lisanna. Keep working on the blade and maybe you'll become a great swordswoman."

"That's three blade girls in here," Macao said. "Erza, Wendy, and now Lisanna."

"Don't miss with our chicks," Wakaba said then whispered. "Lisanna's really grown out in the chest don't you think?"

"Hey Lisanna!" Happy called. "Red alert! Red alert! The siren moves to take the man you love!"

"Huh?" Lisanna was confused.

"Lucy is trying to take Natsu for herself!" Happy screamed.

Lisanna's mouth dropped.

Wow, got this written in just one day! What will Lisanna do? How will Natsu react to Lucy? Find out next week. We're moving into love triangle time! Also, I've started a Star Wars fanfic, inserting myself into the Star Wars universe, the only thing out right now is the brief prologue but I should have more of it soon.
