Chapter 28 S-class Trials Begin
Wendy stood on the boat with the other S-class candidates and their partners as well as Laxus and Makarov. They'd been out at sea for over and hour and it was really hot. Everyone was in their swimsuits (except for Gray who'd stripped all the way to naked). Natsu, Erza, Mira, and Gildarts had taken an earlier boat and should already be on the island.
Lucy sighed. "I wish we had something cold to eat. I feel like my skin is gonna melt off. I wanna just turn into a popsicle. Good thing Happy's with Natsu and not here or he'd eat me."
"Too bad Natsu's not here, then maybe we could see whose swimsuit he likes better," Lisanna said as she looked over to her rival and eyeing her breasts with a bit of envy. "How'd you get those so big?"
"Guess I'm just lucky," Lucy said. "You don't think you could turn into a popsicle could you?"
The white haired girl frowned. "Gonna try and eat me to get rid of me so you can have Natsu?"
"If only it were that simple," Lucy said. "I just want something cold."
"I have an idea, I could freeze the boat, but then we might sink," Gray said.
"Could you please put some clothes on Gray?" Wendy asked with a red face as she kept her back to him. "At least your swim trunks!"
"I think you look wonderful my darling Gray!" Juvia said.
"I'm roasting! I'm like a man steak!" Elfman said.
"Well roast away from me!" Evergreen said.
Finally…
"We've arrived!" Loke said.
Lisanna let out a gasp of astonishment as she beheld Tenrou Island. It looked rather bare, with a giant tree seeming to cover the entire thing. Like an island on top an island. It was pretty ugly.
"Yep, that's it. Tenrou Island. Legends says that Fairies used to live there," Makarov said.
"Is the legend true?" Lucy asked.
"No one knows," Makarov said.
"In any case, I'd like to reveal the first round of your trial," Laxus said. "See that smoke on the shore. Your first task will be to head to its source. Once there you will find eight tunnels. Each team will choose one tunnel and go through. Once that team goes through, a magic barrier will prevent anyone else from taking that same route. There are three kinds of paths here. Combat Paths, where two teams will run into each other and have to fight. Then there is intense combat where you will have to fight S-class wizards."
"And the Serenity Route is the big winner!" Makarov said. "If you get lucky enough to go through that route you don't have to fight at all!"
"I wanted to eliminate that one but that will up to whether or not all the S-class wizards decide to participate," Laxus said.

On Tenrou Island, the S-class wizards were preparing to take one of the paths to guard. Natsu, Erza and Mira all headed done one of the four paths that didn't end up merging with the other half. Gildarts, however hung back as he looked at the last one.
He shrugged. "Eh… I think I'll just let someone be lucky."
So there would be a serenity route.

"If I've done the math correctly only a maximum of six teams will make it to the next round," Evergreen said.
"This sucks! If we take the routes with the S-classes we're gonna get a manly pounding!" Elfman said.
"You're no real man you're a real whimp!" Ever scolded her partner.
"The first round could be the end of us. I don't wanna have to fight a bunch of my friends!" Levy said.
"Me neither, but I have a chance to become S-class and I'm not gonna let it slip by!" Lucy said.
"Alright, your trial starts now!" Makarov declared.
"Now. Before we even get on the island?" Wendy asked. "Okay Carla. Time to fly!"
"As you wish child!" Carla said sprouting her wings.
She took Wendy by the shoulders and began to fly.
"See you guys later!" Wendy called.
"Hey get back here!" Gray shouted.
But before Wendy and Carla could even get outside the boat, a magical barrier appeared around it. They hit and slid down to the wooden deck.
"An enchantment!" Cana exclaimed.
They suddenly noticed the magical words written all around the edge of the boat, as well as Freed and Bickslow flying toward the island. It was one of Freed's enchantments!
"It isn't permanent!" Freed called. "Five more minutes on that boat won't kill you!"
"That's cheating!" Gray said.
"Hey no fair!" Wendy said.
"Hey Levy, you think you can get us out?" Lucy asked her partner.
The solid script user nodded.
She took her magic pen and began to rearrange the letters, then she pulled Lucy in for a whisper. "I can rewrite it so only we can go through. Just say the word and we can leave everyone else behind."
"No, go ahead and let everyone else out," Lucy said.
"Hey, I know we're rivals today but that would be just mean!" Cana said. "Lily, you mind flying me to the island when we can get out?"
"Not at all!" the black exceed said as he latched onto the Card Mage's back.
"Lisanna take my hand!" Mest said.
"Um… okay," Lisanna said as she took the hand, wishing it was Natsu's instead.
Levy finished rewriting the script magic and enchantment broke. Everyone could now go through! They rushed into action, many of them used their magic to get there quickly. Lucy and Levy jumped into the water and began to swim quickly with Levy's solid script fins which allowed them to move quickly through the water. But they were quickly overtaken by the others. Wendy, Cana, and Elfman all flew to the island being carried by Carla, Lily, or Evergreen who knew a magic that enabled her to sprout dragonfly like wings. Gray and Loke went on a magic made ice path leading to the island which they skated on. Mest and Lisanna simply vanished, Juvia meanwhile was forced to lag behind as Gajeel lacked any magic that could make him move faster in water.
Wendy and the other flyers hit the ground around the same time. They found the eight paths, with two already having magical barriers before them.
"Well, guess we might have to fight some of you when we get in there," Wendy said to her friends.
"I'm not gonna go down easy!" Cana promised.
"You're gonna have to be a real man to defeat me!" Elfman said.
"Will you stop with that real man stuff!" Evergreen growled.
"Time to go in child!" Carla said. "Pick one quick!"
Wendy looked over the pathways and settled for Route E. She jogged in while Carla flew behind her, both wondering what they would face in this route until they saw him. Spiky pink hair and a scaly scarf with a blue cat flying next to him. Natsu was their opponent!
Well that's one match decided. It will probably be a few chapters for the initial round of the S-class trial. I'd love to here your thoughts on who fights who in this AU. I'm thinking it be like this.
Wendy and Carla vs. Natsu (and Happy)
Happy: Ahh! Why me too?
Lucy and Levy vs. Mest and Lisanna: Love Triangle Drama.
Freed and Bickslow vs. Cana and Lily
Gray and Loke: Serenity Route?

Well I didn't plan on that one in my head but there has to be someone lucky. Who do guys think should get it and how should I change it otherwise?
Elfman and Evergreen vs. Mirajane.
Juvia and Gajeel vs. Erza.
And just to let you guys know I'm totally fine after last weeks car crash. No one was hurt but my car thankfully. The other one that hit me had minor damage but it was still my fault. To let you guys know what happened I came to a stop sign and got distracted by a bunch other signs and forgot to look both ways, so don't let that happen to you! Constant vigilance! Also if you're a Star Wars as well please read my self insert fanfic of myself in the Star Wars Universe as I could really use some reviews on that one.
