Chapter 36 War begins
Lucy and Levy walked through the forest. When suddenly a pair of figures leaped at them. The two girls screamed and dove out of the way. They only had a moment to glimpse their attackers. She was looking at a man with a goat like face complete with ears, wearing Samurai like armor, and holding a katana. The other was a humanoid chicken!
"I don't think these are island critters Lu!" Levi shouted.
"Definitely not!" Lucy said as she got up and reached for her keys.
"First catch of the day!" the goat said.
"Pity we could get an easy kill with one at a time. I could have held a lone person down there you slit their throat! Bock! Bock!" the chicken man said.
"Ah well, these two are just a couple girls. They look pretty weak, especially the little blue haired one!" the goat said. "I'll cut her to pieces!"
He charged at her sword raised. Levy wasn't the most fit girl, or one experienced enough in direct combat. She tried to run, get distance between herself and the sword, but he was too fast! He'd catch up with her any second now!
"Solid Script fire!" Levy shouted.
The burning letters flew at her pursuer who simply jumped over them, his legs were goat hooves so he could jump high. The burning letters soared under him and he was coming at her. Levi screamed and put her arms up to shield herself, but that wouldn't work! She'd only lose them first!
"Levy!" Lucy shouted in concern for her partner.
Then someone else came. Gajeel placed himself in front of Levy as the katana swung with intent to cut her head in half! His arms coated in iron, he deflected what would have been a fatal blow against the solid script mage. Levy looked at her savior wide eyed.
"Good thing I was looking for something to fight! Or you'd be dead kid!" Gajeel said. "Who are you and blondie playing with?"
"They're no friends of ours!"
Taking a closer look at their attacks, Levy noticed the guild mark of a split heart pierced at both sides of the bottom.
She gasped. "They're from Grimoire Heart! Leader of the Baram Alliance!"
"Well this should be fun! Laxus is a fun guild Master having us fight these guys!"
"No, Laxus wouldn't do that!" Lucy said.
"We can't even fight them without the approval of the Magic Council!" Levy said.
"Ha! You legal guilds are weak, keeping yourself chained to the rules of the Magic Council," the goat man said as he began moving his katana, creating a solid script as he did so.
"Just what are you doing here?" Levy asked her enemy.
"We came to hunt Fairies! Orient Solid Script: Go!"
He swung his sword and a loud sound filled their ears as the spell took effect. Gajeel covered his ears, which being a dragon slayer's had better than both girls. This left him vulnerable as the Goat Man came at him.
"Look out!" Levy said as she pulled Gajeel back just enough to avoid being slashed, repaying the debt from only a few moments ago.
The noise still sounded, that would leave Gajeel dazed.
"Solid Script: Silence!"
Levy's spell canceled out the sound from the Goat Man's. The dark mage swung his sword again, and Gajeel deflected it.
"Go help blondie! I can handle this guy!" the Iron Dragon Slayer told Levy.
"Right!"
Levy looked over at Lucy and the Chicken man who was shooting eggs from his mouth at her as she ran while drawing her key.
"Open Gate of the Archer: Sagitarius!" Lucy said.
The archer in a horse costume appeared. He shot his arrows, hitting the flying eggs with superhuman precision. With all the chicken man's attention focused on Lucy, Levy had an opening.
"Solid Script: Thunderbolt!"
Just like she'd zapped Mest in their match, a bolt of lightning hit the chicken who collapsed, his feathers blackened.
"Bock! Bock! Bock! That hurt!"
"Kowazu!" the goat man called for his downed comrade. "Damn.. maybe we should have picked a better target!"
"Iron Dragon Slayer Club!"
Gajeel's arm turned into its club attack and he hit the goat man who dodged.
"I have to at least take one of you down!"
And he stabbed Gajeel! The Iron dragon slayer coughed out a bit of blood.
"Gajeel!" Levy screamed.
"Arrgh!"
With the last of his strength, Gajeel roared and hit the goat man on the top of his head with enough force to knock him out through his armor. Then both of them collapsed.
"Gajeel!" Levy ran over to him.
Lucy joined them as well.
"This is bad!" Lucy said. "We need to stop the bleeding somehow!"
Gasping, Levi quickly thought of something.
"Solid Script… bandage!" she choked out through her incoming steam of tears.
The solid script magic appeared on Gajeels wound, covering it. With that, the two girls decided they needed to get to base quickly for help and alert everyone else.
"You think anymore of those guys are here on the island?" Levy asked Lucy as they both struggled to carry the heavy dragon slayer up the hill to the basecamp.
"I hope not!" Lucy said. "Hello, we need help!"
She shouted, hoping for one of their guildmembers to be nearby.
"What's going on?"
Freed and Bickslow emerged from the forest around them. They saw Gajeel.
"Whoa! What happened to that big guy there?" Bickslow asked.
"What happened? What happened?" his dolls mimicked.
"We were attacked… by members of… Grimiore Heart!" Levy told them through a mixture of tears and pants.
"What?" Freed exclaimed. "Laxus must be informed of this! Give him to me!"
He took Gajeel and created his wings before flying to base.
"Guess we better send up an emergency flare!" Bickslow said.
"Emergency! Emergency!" the minions copied.
"We need to find Natsu! He'll have one being an S-class wizard!" Lucy said.
At that moment, in the distance… a flare appeared. Fire by Natsu.

Natsu lowered his flaregun as Wendy, Lisanna, Elfman, Evergreen, Carla, and Happy stood by him. Zeref was there as the black wizard remained at a distance to avoid his magic hurting them. War had begun.
Well getting into the semi final conflict here. I have to admit I did consider Levy getting killed, but its impossible for members of Fairy Tail to die while on the island thanks to the magic I've heard. Well, there will be death in the battle with Acnologia at the end, that much is guaranteed I can say. Apologies for the delay. Usually I try and get these chapters out on Tuesday nowadays but I started a new Pokemon fanfic just two days ago. If any of you are fans of that and romance you might consider a review on that or my Star Wars self insert fic. I'd appreciate it.
