Chapter 8

Harmony

Ginny stood in the kitchen of Hermione's house brewing a potion and taking notes on what it looked like, how is smelled and it's other characteristics as she did different things to it.

She looked at the clock and smiled. Quickly, she turned around and began to brew some tea. Hermione would be home soon, and she liked to have tea and read when she got off of work. The redhead reached across the counter and grabbed Hermione's favorite mug that she used everyday, which was why it was always close on the counter. She pulled her wand and quickly cleared the counters of trash, put ingredients she didn't need anymore back into place and wiped the counters of residue as the pot began to whistle. Not a moment later Ginny smiled at the sound of a roaring fire as Hermione landed in her floo.

"Gin! I'm home," Hermione said, coming from the floo. Ginnys smile grew, she liked that Hermione always announced her return. "Kitchen!" Ginny shouted, and poured Hermione some tea with a bit of cream and sugar. She left the tea on the counter and went back to her potion. She analyzed a vial of it and took some more notes.

"Welcome home," Ginny said, as Hermione walked in. Hermione smiled and went to the counter, she picked up the mug and took a big drink, then came next to Ginny and put her hand on the redheads lower back. Ginny smiled, she loved when Hermione would touch her like that randomly.

"What are you working on today?" Hermione asked as she drank her tea.

"This is a Wound-Cleaning Potion. It's used to sterilize wounds that might not be able to be closed for some reason or another," Ginny said.

"It's pretty," Hermione said, looking into the cauldron.

"It's almost done. It will be a nice purple when finished," Ginny said.

"It's already turning purple. You are really good at this," Hermione said and nudged Ginny gently with her shoulder.

"I had a great potions tutor growing up. She taught me that patience and attention to detail was the most important part of brewing a potion," Ginny said, leaning against the counter and grimacing a bit. Hermione smiled knowing that Ginny was talking about her.

"You've been standing too long haven't you?" Hermione asked.

"No, I'm fine," Ginny protested.

"You can't lie to me, Ginny. I see everything. Why don't you come lay down and I'll rub your leg for you," Hermione said.

"Hermione you seriously don't have to do that," Ginny said.

"The potion is done. You are hurting and I can help. Come on," Hermione said in a tone indicating Ginny had no choice.

"Fine," Ginny said and banished the fire, she put a preserving charm on the cauldron so she could bottle it and bring it to class in the morning. Ginny then followed the brunette into her room and laid down on Hermione's bed.

"I like those shorts, are they comfortable?" Hermione asked as she kicked her heels off and took her hair down.

"A bit. They were my practice shorts when we had to practice in hot climates," Ginny said. Hermione grabbed some pajamas and began to change. Ginny quickly looked at the ceiling, trying to force herself not to look at the brunette changing from her work clothes into pajamas.

Hermione saw her and laughed, "You are seriously looking away, Gin? You've seen me in way less than this," Hermione said as she pulled her shorts up.

"Yeah, I know, but I'm still a lesbian so it's best to just not look," Ginny said joking. Hermione laughed.

"Probably true," She said and crawled onto the bed with a bottle of lotion. She sat next to Ginny's hurt knee and put some of the lotion in her hand and began to rub gently around the redheads knee and leg. Ginny grimaced a bit then slowly let out a breath.

"Am I hurting you?" Hermione asked as she stopped massaging Ginny's knee.

"No," Ginny said quickly, "It was just strange at first…it feels really good now."Hermione smiled and continued the massage.

"I haven't really had anyone rub it besides me. It usually hurts too much when other people touch it," Ginny said. Hermione smiled, glad that Ginny trusted her enough to let her touch her knee. The two sat in silence for a moment before the brunette spoke up.

"I was listening to you play when this happened. It scared me so much I almost took a plane back to England so I could see you," Hermione said as she rubbed the redheads leg.

"What's a plane?" Ginny asked sounding very relaxed, and Hermione smiled.

"It's a thing that muggles have that help them fly. Like a car but much bigger and has wings,"Hermione said.

"Like dads flying car?" Ginny asked.

"Not really. It uses science to fly, not magic. I knew it would take a while to set up a portkey, so I almost bought a ticket. I ended up hearing back from Harry just before I did. He told me you were alright. I really wish I had though," Hermione said, having realized later that the injury had been much worse than Harry had let on in his letter.

"It's fine, Hermione. There wasn't anything that could be done anyway. No need to mess up your job for my bum knee," Ginny said.

"Did it hurt a lot?" Hermione asked.

"Was the most painful experience of my life, and I fought in a war," Ginny said, with a joking smile. "It was already not feeling well. I knew I wouldn't be able to play for much longer. It was just bad luck that the bludger hit it head on. The entire knee was shattered. Flopped around a lot, but I got the snitch anyway," Ginny said with her eyes closed, enjoying the feel of Hermione's hands.

"Well, at least you got the snitch. That's what's most important," Hermione teased and Ginny smiled.

"I'm so glad you're back," Ginny whispered. Hermione grinned and agreed. A few minutes later, Hermione looked up and saw the redhead had fallen asleep. The brunette smiled at the sight. Hermione put the lotion on the bedside table and laid down beside her. She reached to the bottom of the bed and pulled up a blanket putting it over both of them. The brunette laid her hand on the redheads stomach and smiled feeling the soft smooth skin. She caressed it for a while before falling asleep.

Ginny woke up feeling comfortable and content. She heard the birds singing outside and enjoyed the fresh scent of flowers. She frowned a bit, realizing she shouldn't be able to smell flowers. It was at that moment she realized she was holding someone. Ginny opened her eyes and smiled. Hermione was laying draped on top of her, Ginny could smell the brunettes hair. Ginny pulled the brunette closer and wrapped her arms around her tight, she sighed feeling quite content.

"Gin?" Hermione grumbled and pushed her head further into Ginny's neck and shoulder.

"Yeah?" Ginny said.

"You smell really good," Hermione said, and Ginny tensed when the brunette moved her hand on her abdomen, up and down.

"Bloody hell, Hermione," Ginny groaned and put her hand on top of the brunettes.

"Sorry…. Forgot you don't like that. I just love your skin," Hermione said and leaned up pushing some of her unruly curls from her face.

"I think the issue is I like that too much," Ginny teased with a chuckle, "Better be careful. Remember what happened last time you did that?" Ginny joked and moved to sit up as well. The redhead moved to the side of the bed and took a deep breath, preparing to put weight on her leg for the first time after sleeping. That was always when it hurt most.

"I do. I could never forget that," Hermione said with a smile and stood. Ginny smiled back and moved to stand. Hermione saw the redhead grimace and slowly shift her weight onto her knee then began to look around.

"Have you seen my brace?" Ginny asked gritting her teeth and sitting back down on the bed gripping the comforter tightly in pain. Hermione rushed to her and put her hands on her shoulders.

"Are you alright?" Hermione asked, worried.

"Thought I could do it without the brace….I can't," Ginny said, still breathing deeply. Ginny reached down and rubbed her knee and winced, a tear coming to her eye when she felt her knee cap had shifted to a position it wasn't supposed to be in.

"Fuck," Ginny whimpered and gripped the bed tighter.

"Ginny, what's wrong?" Hermione asked and wiped away Ginny's tears, concern lacing her voice.

"Knee cap. It's not supposed to be there. Can you hand me my wand and find my brace? I need to put it back and put the brace on," Ginny said as more tears slid down her face. Hermione nodded and ran to the other side of the bed and picked up Ginny's knee brace and put it on the bed next to her, then went to the kitchen where Ginny had left her wand and brought it to her.

Hermione felt her heart break a bit watching the redhead sit on the side of the bed gripping the comforter tightly, breathing deeply and trying not to cry as she rocked back and forth slowly. Hermione handed Ginny her wand.

Ginny grabbed her brace slid it up and almost into position, then put her hand on the other side of her knee so the knee cap wouldn't go too far like it tended to do when she tried to put it back. The redhead pointed her wand at her knee and took a deep breath. "Episkey," she whispered and cried out when it snapped back onto place. Hermione reached forward and helped Ginny tighten the brace.

Ginny sat there breathing slowly. Hermione stepped forward and put her hands on Ginny's shoulders. One hand slid up Ginny's neck into her hair. Hermione pulled her against her and Ginny wrapped her arms around the brunettes waist and buried her head in her stomach. The redhead took several deep breaths, the brunette felt sweat on the back of Ginnys neck and saw droplets glitter on her forehead.

"Thank you," Ginny whispered, trying to stop crying. Hermione held her tighter and leaned down, putting her face in the redheads hair. "I'm usually alone when that happens….it's certainly easier when someone can find my things for me," Ginny teased and Hermione pulled her tighter, realizing the redhead had to deal with that situation alone and had probably had to move and stand on it when it happened in order to get her wand and brace.

"I'm ok, Hermione. Really this happens all of the time. There isn't much there anymore to hold it in place. Hence the brace," Ginny said into Hermione's stomach.

"I'm so sorry you're in pain, Gin," Hermione whispered into the redheads hair. Ginny smiled.

"I'm pretty much in pain all of the time now, honey. I'm very used to it," Ginny said and jumped when the alarm on the bed side table rang out.

Ginny turned to look at the clock, "Oh, I need to get ready for class," Ginny said.

"I need to get ready for work, are you sure you can stand?" Hermione asked. Ginny nodded, "Can't you use pain potions or anything?" Hermione asked as she helped the redhead to stand.

"Those things are addictive and not good to use long term. This is going to bother me forever, Hermione. I just have to get used to being in pain," Ginny said and slowly walked to the door.

"Thanks for helping. You don't realize how much less it hurts because you were here," Ginny said and walked to her room to get ready for the day. Hermione sat on the edge of the bed, pondering about the redhead.
