Chapter 11
Party of Two
Ginny was in the kitchen, cooking dinner for her and Hermione. She was hobbling on one leg, so as not to put any pressure on her knee since it had finally started feeling better. She looked at the clock and smiled, Hermione would be home soon. She quickly began to brew some tea and made it how Hermione liked it. Ginny set the tea on the counter and turned back to the chicken and vegetables she was cooking.
"Gin, I'm home!" she heard from the other room. She smiled as she felt her heart grow warmer, until Hermione came into the kitchen and gave her an annoyed look.
"Your brother got suspended today," she said, with her hands on her hips. Ginny couldn't help but laugh, she was relieved Hermione wasn't mad at her. "It's not funny, Ginny! He's really in trouble," Hermione said trying to be stern.
"What did he do?" Ginny asked, still giggling.
"He punched Mason,…. in the face,…. a lot," Hermione said. Ginny smiled.
"Well, I can't say I blame him," Ginny said and smiled as Hermione picked up the tea and began to drink it. The brunette enjoyed the first few sips before a realization hit her.
"You Weasley's and your temper, I can't believe you told him, Ginny! You know how Ron is!" Hermione said, Ginny put her hands up in defense.
"I didn't tell him exactly what happened, just to look out for you and not to let Mason alone with you. I don't trust him," Ginny said the last part quietly before turning back to her cooking.
"Well, I don't trust him anymore, either, but it was a fiasco! Ron hit him and Harry had to jump on him and pull him off!" Hermione said, "Then, Ron told Harry why he was hitting him and Harry let him go! Ron broke Masons nose! Harry almost got suspended too!" Hermione took a deep breath and Ginny smiled.
"Still think he deserved it," Ginny grinned. Hermione crossed her arms and looked down, trying to make sense of the chaos.
"If I wasn't all crippled, I'd have done it myself," Ginny said and reached for plates in the cupboard. Hermione looked up at the redhead in surprise, then saw her frustration and moved to help her get the plates.
"You did very well, regardless of your injury," Hermione said and helped Ginny make plates. "This looks really good, Gin," Hermione said and the two sat down at the kitchen island to eat. "How's your knee feeling?" Hermione asked, feeling calmer now.
"Much better," Ginny answered with a smile, "The swelling finally went down, but I'm still not putting weight on it," Ginny said. Hermione stood and grabbed a soda from the fridge. "Can you grab me one?" Ginny asked and Hermione nodded.
"Thanks. These are really good," Ginny said, "I love living with a muggleborn. I get to see and experience interesting things," Ginny concluded, taking a drink. Hermione smiled at her and the two began to eat. For a few minutes the two sat in silence and enjoyed their food, drinks and company.
"I read your book," Ginny said, then took a bite.
"The whole thing?" Hermione asked wide eyed, and Ginny nodded.
"I had a lot of time today," Ginny said. "I was a bit nervous to read about the situation in the chamber and the diary. I still have issues with it," Ginny said and pointed at her head, indicating she had trauma, "But you wrote it very well," Ginny continued, "It hardly bothered me, besides the fact that it made me think about it."
"I'm sorry, Ginny," Hermione said, concerned for her friend.
"It's fine. I really liked it," Ginny said and took a drink of her soda.
"I still have issues with the situation at Malfoy manor, so I understand a bit," Hermione said and Ginny nodded.
"Did I tell you Malfoy was in my class in Spain?" Ginny asked. Hermione almost choked on her food. Ginny reached over and patted Hermione's back, the brunette took a drink of her soda before looking up to Ginny, "No, you didn't," she said.
"Yeah," Ginny said, "He left his family, ya know. Disowned them, I guess, and is training to become a healer, now. We were paired on a few projects. He's actually quite pleasant to be around now," Ginny said.
"That is interesting," Hermione said and Ginny nodded, the redhead ate silently as she watched her friend think.
"Did you get your essay done?" Hermione asked after a moment.
"As far as I can," Ginny smiled, "The professor has extended the assignment deadline anyway, so it all worked out," Ginny said and Hermione smiled.
"So you will start the potion over tomorrow?" Hermione asked and Ginny nodded.
"As long as my knee is still feeling ok. I might pull a chair up, to sit in from time to time. It's very intricate, and a lot of small things make a big difference with it, so I can't leave it. I was only gone for a few moments last night, I missed a stir and it was ruined. I had been brewing it since 0700hrs that morning," Ginny said.
"I'm so sorry, Ginny," Hermione said, feeling heavy as her memories of the night before flooded her mind, "All of that hard work, gone to waste because of that arse," Hermione said with a small smile.
A big smile grew on Ginnys face, "It's ok," she said, "It was definitely worth it," the redhead said, "And, I still get to work on it tomorrow," Ginny said. Hermione smiled at her.
"Are you enjoying your classes?" Hermione asked. Ginny nodded.
"It's nice. I actually enjoy potions now that I'm not learning from Snape. I know he ended up being a hero and all, but he really was unpleasant," Ginny said with a laugh. Hermione laughed and nodded agreement.
"That was delicious," Hermione said, "Thank you for making it for us," she said, standing to clean up their dinner, "I'm going to read a bit. Do you want to join me?" Hermione asked.
"Sure. Can I start the next year of your novel?" Ginny asked, standing to help clean up.
"Of course, why don't you go sit on the couch and I'll grab it," Hermione said and went to the study to grab her book and the novel for Ginny. Ginny wanted to help, but she felt her ankle shake from the strain of standing, so she went to the couch.
Hermione sat on the couch and handed the novel to the redhead, who was just getting comfortable. Ginny smiled at Hermione as she handed her the next book. "You should stretch out and I'll rub your knee a bit while we read," Hermione said.
Ginny nodded and adjusted a pillow against the side of the couch and laid back, spreading out and laying her legs across Hermione's lap. Ginny opened the novel and smiled looking at the title.
'Year three: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'
Ginny closed her eyes for a few moments as Hermione used one hand to rub her leg, while the other held her book. The redhead sighed and relaxed as the tension in her knee and leg began to relax a bit. Ginny opened her eyes and watched Hermione reading.
Suddenly, the brunette sighed and grabbed her wand off of the table. She pointed it at her bedroom and her glasses came shooting at her out of the door. Hermione quickly lift her hand and caught them putting them on and began reading again. Ginny watched the spectacle, then giggled a bit.
"What?" Hermione asked with a smile.
"That was like… seeker fast reflexes," Ginny said and Hermione blushed,
"Thank you," Hermione said, adjusting the glasses on her face.
"So, you wear glasses now?" Ginny asked with a smirk and smiled lightly when Hermione went back to rubbing her knee.
"Sometimes I have to wear them, mostly when I read," Hermione said, holding up her book slightly.
"Well, they look extremely cute on you," Ginny said and looked back to her book.
"Thank you," Hermione said, "It mostly makes me feel old."
"You are definitely not old, Hermione," Ginny said, turning the page of her book.
"Well, I feel old. And I'm older than you," Hermione said with a half hearted smile.
"By one year," Ginny laughed, "Besides, you've always been older than me," Ginny said.
"It's closer to two years. I'm a bit older than Ron," Hermione said solemnly.
"So ancient," Ginny teased and Hermione turned to glare at her with a smile.
"Well," Ginny said, looking back to her book, "I don't see what's so wrong with living out your life. They say the glory of the young is their strength, while the glory of the old is their grey hair."
"Who said that?" Hermione asked, laughing. Ginny looked up into Hermiones eyes for a moment, then winked and went back to her book. Hermione chuckled and looked back to her book as well.
The two fell into a comfortable silence as they read. Ginny closed her eyes when Hermione stopped rubbing her leg so much, and just slowly began to slide the tips of her fingers up and down the inside of her knee. Ginny took a few deep breaths and laid her head back.
The redhead tensed as Hermione's fingers began to inch, slowly, up from her knee to her inner thigh. Trailing lightly, caressing her skin. Back and forth. Ginny opened her eyes and looked at the brunette, wondering if she even realized what she was doing. Hermione looked so intent on her book and her hand seemed to be unconsciously moving back and forth across her skin setting her nerves, and desire, aflame.
Ginny looked back at her book and stared at it intensely for a while, not able to actually read, just think about Hermione's gentle fingers moving along her inner thigh. It had been quite a long time since she had been with anyone or even allowed close to intimate touch.
"What are you guys doing?" Ginny heard in an amused tone from the center of the room. Both of the women looked up at Harry, only a bit surprised to see him there.
"Reading," Hermione said confused, her hand stopped moving and laid comfortably on Ginny's inner thigh.
"Really…," Harry said, as if he didn't believe them.
"What do you think we are doing," Ginny said, while lifting her book a bit then giving it a quick shake.
"Looks kind of like Hermione is feeling you up while you guys pretend to read," Harry said with a laugh.
"I'm rubbing her knee, Harry!" Hermione said, "Nothing wrong with that."
"Right…that's her knee," Harry said and pointed to Hermione's hand on Ginny's inner thigh. Hermione blushed a bit and Ginny lifted her book to look at Hermione's hand. The look on her face said, 'Huh, how did that get there?'
The redhead laughed a bit and Hermione still looked a bit confused and embarrassed.
"My entire leg has been hurting since I had to ninja that jackass last night," Ginny said while putting her book back down and looking at her knee.
"It was very swollen this morning," Hermione said as she regained her full composure and turned the page.
"Well, I've been standing here for a while and your hand wasn't rubbing so much as stroking, and it was going higher," Harry said with a laugh.
"Well, I'm a bit distracted. I wasn't really paying attention, was I?" Hermione said indicating her book. Harry nodded but still had a dopey grin on his face.
"Right…," Harry said, "Well, anyway, I need your advice, both of you." The shaggy haired man took a seat and looked towards the women before speaking.
"What should I get Luna for our anniversary?"
