Chapter 45 Grim Ends

Well only six or so more chapters left after this or so I plan. We'll wrap up Grimiore Heart's downfall here. I've come up wit a list of the chapters and developed a plan for them so everything should be in order. I hope everyone is ready for Halloween. I did consider taking this day and tomorrow off but ah well. I will not be writing in about two weeks for certain though as I'm taking a little vacation to Modesto, California on the 13th of November. So there will be no chapter released that day. But there should be one next week. I hope everyone has a good Halloween.

Bluenote and Rustyrose looked at Zeref once they had downed the lead demon who'd injured Master Hades.

"Lord Zeref!" Rustyrose stepped forward to address the Legendary Black Wizard. "We come to free you from your seal! We intend you no harm!"

"Silence!" Zeref ordered as his back was still turned to them. "I know what it is you seek. A grand magic world where only those blessed with the mighty gifts can survive. Well I will have nothing of that!"

"The keys! We will use them to awaken your true power… and then you will…

"I will tell you just as I told the woman who Kyouka brought down!" Zeref said, turning to face them, his eyes now a bright red. "Those keys are nothing more than a myth cultivated by a group of desperate fanatics! They will not awaken my true power. That has already been awakened. The more I value life, the more I was doomed to destroy it. But now I don't have much value anymore… for my life will soon be over. My prized demon… the one I created to destroy me has finally been brought back to me. The time has come for me to let go of the value of life during my final moments. The true black wizard stands before you now."

Bluenote listened, though he was silent. He had his eyes set on acquiring the Fairy Glitter spell which Hades had said could be acquired on this island. He still had to defend himself of course though!

Zeref raised his hands, an incredible amount of dark energy pouring from the Black Wizard. Bluenote tried to use his gravity magic to immobilize Zeref. But the Black Wizard was too powerful! Certain individuals that had enough magic power were immune to Bluenotes magic. Rustyrose failed to react in time as the darkness came at them. Then it was over. They lay on the ground… dead.

Cana and Lily had been looking for the grave for a long time. But they'd had no luck. One of the other members like Lucy or Levy might have been able to figure out where it was but both of them were stumped.

Then they almost got stomped. A huge man with bushy hair tried to step on her head as she lay there looking up at the sun. Cana screamed and looked at the enemy in annoyance.

The man flinched at the sight of her glare. He retreated behind the trees like a coward.

"I'm not scared of you just cause you glare at me!" he said in a very not convincing tone.

"Oh really, well how about this! Arrgh!" she screamed in fury.

That caused the huge man to shiver and hug the tree.

"Get lost tubby!" Cana said. "I don't have time to play with you. I have to focus on finding the grave of Master Mavis so I can become S-class!"

"Tubby! Now I'm mad! I'm not some weak member of our guild! I'm a member of the seven kin! Kain Hikaru!" the huge oaf said.

He charged back toward her ready. Cana readied her cards and leapt back to avoid his punch.

Only he didn't punch, instead just reaching out and grabbing her head. Then with his other hand he reached as well, grabbing a bit of her hair and pulling it out.

"Ow! Hey! What's the idea. You collect hair from pretty girls of something?" Cana asked.

"Well you see I-

Lily chose to intervene and cut off Kain midsentence. He turned into his larger form and swung his sword at Kain.

"Don't let your guard down, dark wizard!"

But the huge man took hold of the blade and with insane strength spun Lily around. The cat was forced to let go of the blade only to hit a nearby tree. Kain leapt back and reached into the pocket of the loincloth which was the only thing covering his body along with the green cape and brown straps. He pulled out a strange looking doll.

"Alright Mr. Cursey! I got you a strand of hair!"

Cana watched in bemusement as Kain stuck the piece of hair he'd gotten from her head on to the head of the doll. She suddenly had a bad feeling.

"Now you belong to me girl!" Kain said.

Disgust filled her.

"I ain't some sort of prize you know! Prepare to taste my card magic!" Cana said as she held a card in her left hand.

Suddenly Kain moved the left arm of the doll, and Cana's left arm moved that way too! She threw the card she'd intended for Kain in that direction. At Lily! A thunderbolt shocked the black panther like cat and he reverted to his normal form, fried.

"What'd you make me do!" Cana asked, enraged and guilty at downing her own partner.

"My doll Mr. Cursey allows me to control anyone whose hair I put on its head," Kain explained, stroking its head. Cana felt as someone were caressing her hair. It made her skin crawl.

"What's that? You want to be my girlfriend?" he asked.

"What? I never said that?" Cana said with a blush.

"Well too bad cause like it or not your mine now!" Kain said. "I think I'll keep you as my woman and you can give me some nice massages!"

Cana was absolutely disgusted. What was she gonna do! Oh if only she'd gone to help her friends instead of looking for the grave. She'd gone off on her own, put her own desires above the needs of her guildmates, her friends, family.

"I don't think that will be happening!" a voice said.

Cana felt her hope rise at the sound of it. She was able to move her head to look in that direction. It was him… Gildarts… her father.

"I finally found someone. Took me long enough," Gildarts said.

"And who are you?" Kain asked.

"I'm Gildarts Clive. Ace of Fairy Tail, and I don't like a man who doesn't give a woman their choice!" Gildarts said. "Crush!"

He sent a net of magic at Kain, which sliced him to bits but didn't kill him.

"Ah! Impossible! One hit to defeat one of the seven kin of Purgatory? You might be as strong as Master Hades!" the mouth said.

"You okay, Cana?" Gildarts asked.

"Uh… yeah." Cana said. "Lily!"

She walked over and picked up the black exceed.

"I wonder how many more of those guys are left?" Cana asked.

"We need to help the others. The trial can wait!" Gildarts said.

She nodded. What had she been thinking abandoning her friends?

Azuma tried everything against the skeleton man Keyes. But his attacks were having no effect on him as he turned his body none solid. This was bad. Azuma had managed to defend himself against the dark aura the necromancer demon used with his staff, but he couldn't keep this up any longer.

He collapsed, breathing heavily. The demon bared down on him.

"It seems you are your limit human."

Azuma let out a few heavy breathes. "Yeah, well. You gave me a good fight. I don't regret it, even if I couldn't win."

"Then you will die better than most," Keyes told him as he finished him.

The boney mouth opened up and Azuma felt himself get wrapped up in some sort of magic. He was being pulled into the Necromancers body, to become an undead soldier. But he would continue fighting this way. Even after death, he could still continue to fight. That made him smile, and so instead of trying to resist, he accepted his fate. Grimoire Heart had lost, but he could still get the chance to face worthy foes, just under the command of Keyes.

Everything went dark as his old life ended and he was turned into another of the Necromancers puppets.

Well, got some necromancy in this story just in time for Halloween tomorrow. I have to admit my skin crawled with the scene where Kain was hitting on Cana. Hope you guys like it. Only 7 more chapters to go! 8 if you count both endings to this story. I'll get up to 51 and do the same pattern as the last two parts then it will be the two versions of Chapter 52 to end the whole thing with one of the couples getting married and having families.
