A/N Moving along!

Chapter 18

The Cure

Ginny and Hermione looked at each other, then unrolled the newspaper. One look and Ginny felt like throwing it across the room.

On the front page was a large picture of them in Diagon Alley, Hermione jumping into her arms and kissing her deeply. In another picture they talked silently, Hermione rubbing her hands up and down Ginny's chest for a moment, before Ginny took Hermione's hand and they apparated away together.

"Bloody fucking hell!" Ginny grumbled as she read the article.

'Love Scandal Uncovered'

As pictured above indicates, famous war heroine, Hermione J Granger and renowned quidditch lothario, Ginevra M Weasley, were captured in this intimate moment in Diagon Alley. Sources report that the two have been living together for the past few months and have been hardly seen leaving their little love nest except to go to work or class.

Ms. Granger works for the ministry's international department, while Ms. Weasley is currently finishing her masters in Healing Magic after her devastating, yet, thrilling final match, where she was injured to the point of forced early retirement.

As most of the world knows, Ms. Weasley and Ms. Granger were both members of Dumbledore's Army and fought in the war together along with Ms. Weasley's ex Harry Potter and Ms. Granger's ex Ronald Weasley. Neither Mr. Weasley or Mr. Potter were available for comment, but I am sure neither would be very happy to learn of their friend and family betrayal.

The rest of the Weasley family refused comments, but a source who dated Ms. Granger advised that they were no longer together because Ms. Weasley broke them up. Is Ms. Granger just the next notch on the bedpost of quidditch legend Ginevra Weasley? Or is love in the air for the two famous women? Follow me, myself and I as we watch this love drama unfold.

"Are you fucking kidding me? That bitch. I should hex her wig off. Nothing but a lying, gossiping harpy!" Ginny yelled and threw the paper out of the kitchen. Hermione began to breathe very quickly and backed away from Ginny with her arms around herself. Ginny slammed her hands down onto the counter in anger and gripped the edge tightly.

"Ginny," Hermione whispered and Ginny looked up at the brunette, who was shaking and sweating a bit. She could hear the panic and fear in Hermione's voice. Ginny slowly approached the brunette. She knew that her own violent reaction had probably triggered the brunettes heightened emotions and she could see her struggling not to lose control.

"It's ok, honey. Calm down. I'm sorry I got upset," Ginny said as she got closer.

"You don't want to be with me…you don't want people to know. You're angry people think we are together….we're not together. You really don't love me," Hermione whispered as she put her hands on her head and backed away. Ginny felt the air begin to get heavy with power. Unstable power. Hermione's power.

"Hermione, honey I need you to calm down," Ginny said as she reached for the brunette. She yelled and jerked away in pain. It felt like she had been shocked or burnt.

"Hermione…," Ginny whimpered as she looked at her hand which had a red burn on the palm. Hermione looked at her and Ginny could see the fear and panic increasing. She pulled her arm closer and backed away.

"Ginny…," Hermione cried and stepped forward. "You're crying," Hermione said. Ginny put her hand over her now injured arm, pulling it against her chest.

"It's hurts," Ginny whispered, looking down at her palm. Hermione came closer and Ginny could feel the power, the heat coming nearer. Ginny pulled her arm closer to herself and waited for the pain. Hermione saw her fear and began to back away.

"I..I hurt you. You're hurt," Hermione said through tears, "I'm so sorry..Ginny, I can't calm down…I'm going to hurt you," Hermione sobbed and slid to her knees to the floor.

"Try to breathe, honey. I'm not hurt bad. It's going to be ok. Please…take deep breaths and try to calm down," Ginny said and came closer to the brunette.

"Don't leave me," Hermione cried.

"I'm right here, honey," Ginny said and slowly lowered herself to sit by Hermione. She knew it was a stupid idea. On the ground she had no ability to jump up and move away if Hermione lost control.

"I'm right here, Hermione. If you calm down a bit I can hold you," Ginny said and Hermione looked up at her. Ginny slowly reached out and touched her face. She could feel the heat, but it didn't burn. "Your magic is still unstable, honey," Ginny said, slowly caressing her face.

"Ginny…you should get away, I might hurt you more," Hermione said, looking down.

"I'm not going anywhere, honey. Come here. Everything is going to be alright. We can finish the potion and all of these volatile emotions will go away," Ginny said. Hermione moved into Ginny's lap and buried her head in her neck.

Ginny could feel the heavy feeling in the air receding as Hermione began to calm down. After a few moments, things seemed to be normal.

"Are you alright?" Ginny asked and Hermione nodded. "We need to check the potion," Ginny said. Hermione stood and looked at the book and the potion and slowly added the ingredients she had been chopping, then stirred it once. Ginny leaned against the counter on the floor and looked at her hand. It looked almost like a burn, but it was tinged a purple color. Raw, unstable magic. It ached and felt like needles stabbing into her continuously.

"It's still alright. We didn't ruin it," Hermione said, wiping her tears away and coming to help Ginny stand.

"I'll grab you some burn paste," Hermione said as she looked at the injury on Ginny's hand.

"It's not really a burn, Hermione. I don't know if it will work," Ginny said. Hermione watched as the redhead pulled her arm close again.

"It's hurting…I can see you are in pain…worse pain…again. Because of me," Hermione said backing up. Ginny reached forward and pulled Hermione closer.

"I'm alright honey….kiss me," Ginny whispered. Hermione looked up at her and wrapped her arms around her neck, kissing her deeply. "I love you Hermione. Everything is going to be alright," Ginny whispered and Hermione nodded.

"I feel so tired, Ginny," Hermione said, leaning her head on the redheads chest.

"Why don't you go sit in the living room and rest. The potion is almost done. I will finish and bring it to you," Ginny said. Hermione looked at her for a moment, then nodded. Ginny sighed as Hermione went to lay on the couch.

It took almost an hour to finish the potion. It was difficult with her hand stinging so fiercely, but the pain eased a bit after the first 20 minutes. When it was completed, Ginny scooped some into a cup and slowly exited the kitchen. She looked for Hermione on the couch, but located her sitting at her desk.

"Hermione," Ginny said, approaching her cautiously. Hermione turned to her with a big smile.

"Yeah, baby?" Hermione asked. Ginny saw an almost glazed look in the brunette's eyes.

"Will you drink this for me?" Ginny asked handing the cup to the brunette.

"What is it?" Hermione asked, a bit skeptically.

"It's the counter potion. It will make you feel better," Ginny said.

"I like the way I feel," Hermione said, almost in a panic.

"It's not safe, Hermione. Remember? You want to make me happy right?" Ginny asked. Hermione smiled and nodded.

"I want to make you so happy, Gin," Hermione said.

"It would make me very happy if you drank that," Ginny said. Hermione looked at her for a few moments, then nodded and began to lift the cup to her lips.

"Wait," Ginny said quickly. Hermione stopped and looked at her questioningly. "Will you kiss me? Before you drink that will you kiss me one more time?" Ginny asked, trying not to cry. Hermione put the cup down and gently caressed Ginny's face with her hands.

"I love you so much, Ginny," Hermione said and leaned forward.

"I love you too," Ginny whispered back. The two met in a slow and sweet kiss. Ginny tried to memorize everything possible about the moment. Eventually, Ginny pulled back.

"Ok…you can drink it now," Ginny said, taking a few steps back. Ginny watched Hermione put the cup to her lips and felt her heart ache.
