Chapter 20
Words of Weasleys
"Ginny, I need to talk to you," Ron said to his sister as she came out of her Friday class.
"I don't want to talk, Ron," Ginny said as she walked away.
"Well, too bad. Everyone is worried about you and Hermione. No one has seen you two for days. Mum is going mad with worry. Harry went to see Hermione and found out you left. What's going on, Gin?" Ron asked as he followed her down the hall.
"It's no one's business. I moved out," Ginny said.
"Did you guys have a fight or break up or something?" Ron asked, "I saw the paper, Gin. The entire world saw you two together," Ron said. Ginny turned around.
"That wasn't real, Ron," she said angrily, then turned and began to walk again.
"Looked bloody real to me," Ron said as they left the building.
"Well, it wasn't, and I don't want to talk about this, I just want to go home," Ginny said and Ron saw her beginning to turn to Apparate. He quickly grabbed her arm and side along apparated.
"Bloody hell!" Ron grimaced grabbing his arm.
"Stupid git! You can't grab onto me while I'm apparating and not expect to get splinched!" Ginny yelled and ran to her loo cupboard, pulling out her bag full of healing supplies. "You're lucky I keep my kit stocked already," Ginny grumbled and pulled out a bottle of dittany and began to pour it onto his arm.
"That always fucking hurts. Why is it always this arm. Hermione splinched this arm too," Ron said through gritted teeth as the pain of the dittany hit. Ginny saw the previous splinching scars on Ron's arm from the time he was splinched during the Horcrux hunt.
"Serves you right for grabbing me," Ginny said quietly.
"Well, you were leaving. I need to talk to you," Ron said.
"I don't want to talk, Ron," Ginny said, putting her healing equipment away and using her wand to clean up the blood.
"You're going to be a great healer," Ron said.
"Don't try to butter me up. I'm not mum," Ginny said, crossing her arms.
"Tell me what happened, Gin. You can't say it wasn't real because I saw it," Ron said. Ginny sighed.
"My assignment last week was Amortencia. I dropped my sample and was about to have to start over, so I scooped some out really quick to save the sample in that stage. I put it on the counter and began to clean up the dropped mess. I didn't realize Hermione was coming home. I usually made her some tea and left it on the counter for her. She thought it was the tea and took a huge drink before I could stop her. It was a love potion, Ron. She doesn't really love me," Ginny said.
"So… I mean that's an embarrassing situation, but why have you been hiding?" Ron asked.
"I'm not hiding. I just don't want to see people," Ginny said, moving to sit on her bed and take her brace off for a while. Ron watched his sister for a moment.
"You felt something didn't you? When she was trying to get with you," Ron said and Ginny looked away, "You love her, don't you, Gin?" Ron asked coming to sit by his sister.
"It doesn't matter because it wasn't real for her," Ginny said.
"It was real for you, though? Talk to me, Gin. We've always been best friends, the sibling we always went to when we needed to talk or advice. What's going on?" Ron asked. Ginny sighed.
"I love her. I've tried to convince myself that she's just my best friend, and that our time together was just one drunk night years ago but…. she's all I think about. I don't want anyone else," Ginny said, leaning her head back against the wall.
"What do you mean your time together?" Ron asked.
"The night we were all at Harry's before you all left. Hermione and I….we had sex. She left the next morning to America. I went to Holyhead," Ginny said.
"Seriously!" Ron said with a laugh. Ginny glared at him, "You guys slept together? But, Hermione's straight," Ron said, confused.
"Yeah, we were drunk, Ron. People do things like that when they are drunk. If I realized how I would feel, I wouldn't have done it," Ginny said looking away again.
"Well….how did it go?" Ron said with a grin. Ginny glared at him again.
"Are you seriously asking how the sex went with your ex girlfriend?" Ginny said.
"Hermione is more than my ex girlfriend, Gin. She's been our friend for much longer than that. You guys have always been close," Ron said. Ginny looked away again with a sigh.
"It was spectacular," Ginny said flatly.
"So, did you….succeed?" Ron asked, remembering their conversation about orgasms that night.
"I've never failed, Ron." Ginny said not moving. Ron couldn't help but laugh.
"Ok, so I'm not so sure Hermione is fully straight then because we tried everything! I'm not kidding," Ron said. Ginny grimaced.
"I seriously don't want to hear about or think about you having sex with Hermione, Ron," Ginny said.
"Sorry. I'm just saying she was obviously way more into you if you were able to get her off, Ginny," Ron said and Ginny shrugged. "So you slept together and she left. You fell in love with her. That's why you got all anti-dating. It makes much more sense now," Ron said. "Ginny, why haven't you talked to Hermione?" Ron asked.
"She doesn't want to see me. She told me that she didn't want to be near me, Ron," Ginny said.
"That's not what Harry said," Ron said.
"Well, that's what she told me," Ginny said.
"When?" Ron asked.
"After we finally finished the counter potion," Ginny answered.
"Like, directly after she drank it?" Ron asked and Ginny nodded. "Ginny, she was probably in the most intense bought of depression in that moment! When I drank the counter potion for that love potion in my 6th year, I felt like I wanted to die for a few hours and that wasn't even Amortencia. Amortencia is much more powerful and you are really good at potions," Ron said.
"She wasn't stable. The sample she drank wasn't fully ready," Ginny said and she put her hand up and showed Ron the purple tinged burn mark on her hand.
"Bloody hell, what happened?" he asked.
"She started to lose control. I was able to calm her down, but…. I think it's going to scar," Ginny said, putting her hand back down on her lap.
"Does it hurt?" Ron asked and Ginny nodded, "How long ago did it happen?"
"A few days," Ginny said.
"It doesn't look like it's healed at all, Ginny. You should get it looked at. You're a freaking healer!" Ron said.
"It's an unstable magic injury. Sometimes they don't heal for a long time," Ginny said.
"Well, I still think you should get it looked at, and the fact that she was unstable only means she was probably having a worse emotional downward spiral in that moment. I don't think she feels that way anymore, Gin. I think she wants to see you," Ron said.
"I can't, Ron. I know what she would say. She would say we are best friends and she doesn't want to lose me, but she doesn't feel that way about me. Believe me, Ron, falling in love with your straight best friend really is a stereotype for a reason," Ginny said, "I couldn't handle hearing that….. it wasn't real, but she told me she loved me. For just a few hours, it felt real. Even though I knew it wasn't and that everything would go back to normal after she drank the potion," Ginny said, "It felt real for a moment," Ginny whispered.
"I think you should see her, Ginny. She's worried about you. Harry and I are worried about you…and her," Ron said.
"Is she ok? Is she still having negative effects from the potion?" Ginny asked worried.
"She's fine, physically. She hasn't gone to work. Harry found her laying in your room. He was pretty sure she had been there for a while. He made her get up and eat and stuff, but she mostly just sits in her living room on the couch," Ron said.
"It's probably the after affects of the potion still. It causes depression remember," Ginny said.
"Not for days Ginny," Ron said, "You should talk to her. She seems pretty heartbroken," Ron said, standing up. "You should at least owl mum and dad. They are really worried," Ron finished and walked out.
Ginny heard him and watched him leave, but all she could think of was Hermione.
