An Epiphany- Prologue
Inspired lightly by Turn of a Hero.
Hugely helped by Heavensmercy
This story is based on the idea that Naruto has a brain and that sometimes he actually uses it. No powerups, no death, no massive changes, just simple Epiphany.
Jiraiya's snores only served to piss Naruto off more and more with each earth-shattering rattle. He was shaking, rage filling every pore on his body. Why was he so angry, because the worthless Sanin had not taught him a damn thing, in the entire month that they had been out of the Leaf, Naruto had only worked on using the Kyuubi's chakra and how to make a bigger Rasengan. That was it.
"Alright brat, work on your chakra control tonight while I check this city out," said Jiraiya, said, almost every freaking day. Then, without fail, Jiraiya got drunk and slept with ladies at the brothels, leaving Naruto to struggle and barely get by. All he had learned to far was how to fail at using the Fox's power or how to fail at making a giant rasengan.
'Why am I surprised, he tossed me down that canyon and he barely taught me the Rasengan. He just told me the idea and I had to teach it to myself... same with the tree walking exercise... and the Shadow clone jutsu. Really... I don't need him, I hate reading but if I even had just a scroll to learn from, like the shadow clones I guess I could teach myself... but where could I get one from, we are halfway across Fire country! I'd leave the useless perv if I thought I could protect myself from the Akatsuki, but I need him around to protect me.' Naruto pouted and almost gave up on his momentary independence when something struck up from his memories. 'Didn't The Pervy Sage say there was a Ninja Monk Monstestary nearby? He said that some were as strong as a Jonin, they were masters of Taijutsu, Elemental Jutsu and Sealing...' his hand went to his belly, where the seal that held the Fox lay. 'I should really know about seals, in case I... and if my taijutsu was better, my clones would be more dangerous... and I always want to learn jutsu... they have to have a library filled with scrolls! I can have my clones make copies, so no one finds out about this...' Naruto got up and moved towards the window, sneaking out. 'We are only a mile from the Monastery...I could send a clone and it could make extra clones and they could make me some copies. I have some money, they could buy some and then...'
And so that is what Naruto did, sending a clone to the monastery with extra scrolls and ink and brushes and hoped against all hope that he would learn something of value, something that would keep him safe from the Akatsuki, something that would allow him to save Sasuke, something that would allow him to become Hokage!
And if he got strong enough to leave Jiraiya, then maybe he would... the man wasn't helping much anyway, so why stay with him?
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a lot of fun.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
