Emma awoke the next morning, maybe it was the tiny thing inside of her sapping her energy or maybe it was the fact she was up until after midnight texting Shawn but either way she had no energy this morning. That changed when she felt a familiar nauseous feeling in her stomach and she found herself jumping out of bed running for her bathroom, for the first time she knew this wasn't just an upset or stressed stomach, it was morning sickness.

"Emma are you alright?" She heard her mother call from the top of the basement stairs.

She didn't reply out loud but thought to herself "more alright then when I tell her she's going to be a grandma." By the time she had finished her business her mother had walked down the stairs into her bedroom.

"Mom, I don't feel good."

Her mother walked over putting her hand on her forehead then her cheek. "You don't feel sick but despite everything you been dealing with all pretty well, why don't you stay home with me and Jack?"

"Okay." Alone with her mother for the day, this was the perfect time for her to share what's going on with her. She walked over to her bed and laid back down and quickly passed back out. Few hours later she was woken back up by a message on her phone, it was from Manny.

Manny: hey, where r u? Didn't c u today

Emma: mom let me stay home, not feeling good

Manny: oh preggo problems?

Emma: yeah, it sucks

Manny: want me to cone over later?

Emma: that sounds nice

She put her phone down and made her way upstairs. Her mom was in the living room watching Tv, folding laundry and watching Jack play.

"Can I sit with you?" Her mom made a spot for her on the couch. She turned her attention to the TV which was playing one if her mom's favorite shows Gilmore girls.

"As happy as I am when Snake and Jack came along part if me misses when it was just you and me." She said to her mother curling up next to her on the couch.

"It's a special relation between mothers and daughters but at the same time you can't have to big a family."

"Speaking of that..." She said as she felt the now familiar worry in her stomach.

"Emma is something wrong?" Her question just made Emma more worried.

"Mom I have to tell you something and you have to promise not to hate me."

"I couldn't hate you, what's wrong?"

"Mom I'm pregnant and scared!" She said as the tears once again starting flowing. He mom pulled her in for a hug. It was different from the feeling she got from Manny's hugs. Instead of just care and concerned it made her feel safe.

"Ya know it'd be a little hypocritical if I hated you for that." She joked trying to get her daughter to calm down. "Is it Shawn's?"

"I wish." She told her the entire story. From what happened the day of the shooting to the past weekend and the day before.

"Emma I'm sorry I wasn't there for you through that, but I agree with Paige maybe you should talk to the school psychologist."

"Me and Paige already scheduled a meeting, she's the person Paige went to a she says she helped her a lot."

"Have you decided what you want to with?"

"I don't know if I want to keep it but I'm carrying it, I can't go through with..." she trailed off, her mother could see the question upset her.

"You know if you keep it it's not going to be easy?"

"I know I wasn't always either."

"No but it was worth it." She said holding her daughter who was still sniffling.

"Can you tell dad for me? I don't know if he will take it well."

"He might not take it as well as me but he'll get there."

"I think I'm going to go lay back down."

"I'll come check on you in a little bit, and I'll bring you a snack since it's not just you." After Emma went back downstairs she walked out to the kitchen. She made sure that the basement door was closed and that Jack was asleep on the couch so she could have a moment to herself. She slumped against the wall as she slid down against it until she was on the floor all the while she was crying for everything that had happened to her daughter that she was unable to protect her from.
