A/N Damn it rlly took them over 100k to get here huh XD

Soon, after about an hour of driving, they arrived back in Miyagi. Kageyama was glad to be back, no matter how exciting the trip had been.

He stood through all the pleasantries and small talk with his team before saying goodbye and heading home.

Now that he was alone, Kageyama let himself feel tired. At the same time, he was excited and nervous for his date tonight. He didn't know what they were going to do on their date yet, but Kageyama was already wondering if he should dress up or not.

He didn't want to show up over or under dressed. Oikawa always seemed to dress up because he looked good in almost anything, but Kageyama could see him dressing up just to show off

He could probably trust Iwaizumi to keep things casual at least.

Kageyama sighed as he approached his house. He shouldn't be thinking of what to wear yet when he wasn't even sure if his mother would let him go.

He had been gone for two days, after all, but he could probably convince her if he promised to spend more time with her after.

Slipping the key out from under the mat he inserted it into the lock. The door opened easily, Kageyama placing the key back in its rightful place before entering.

After quietly closing the door and searching the house for a bit he finally found his mother folding laundry.

"Hi mama." He said, just barely standing in the doorway.

She stopped folding and turned to look at him. Her eyes were as unreadable as ever but at least he hadn't seemed to startle her. "Hello, sweetie. How was your trip?"

"It was good. We played a lot of volleyball and I got to talk to new people." The second part hadn't gone as plan, but it was true that he had talked to players outside his team, even if it wasn't for very long.

"Did you make any new friends?"

"Um…" Not exactly. "I made a few." Maybe.

Kageyama let the silence linger a bit before working up the nerve to ask what he really wanted to, "Anyway, so, I know I just got back. But some friends of mine want to get together to celebrate the successful training camp and interhighs coming up." He couldn't say he was going on a date because that would prompt her to ask more questions.

His mother's face didn't change much, but he could tell she wasn't all for the idea from her body language. She stood a little more tense and her hands fidgeted occasionally with her dress as though she was uncertain.

"Just for an hour or two. It's been a long weekend and we all want to be with our families too." He assured.

Kageyama watched as he successfully got his mother to loosen up to the idea, judging from her relaxed body language. "Well, alright. Just for an hour or two though. When are you leaving?"

"I'll check, but probably soon."

Rounding up the entire team and getting ready to leave had taken longer than getting ready to go. Everyone was together throughout the whole process so everything was louder and rowdier. They left later than expected, so it was already nearing four.

Kageyama: Hey, my mom said I can go. When do you want to go? Can it be soon?

Setter Senpai: I can leave now. What about we go to that café downtown, the one by that park with the weird orange swings?

My Favorite Senpai: Sure, I can be there in ten.

Setter Senpai: Me too! U Tobio-chan?

Kageyama knew he was the one to ask if it could be soon but ten minutes was sooner than he expected. By soon he meant in maybe half an hour.

Kageyama: Sure, I'll be there.

Truthfully, he was panicking a little. He hadn't showered, he was in a sweaty t-shirt, and he realized he probably looked like shit instead of casual.

"Tobio? Are you alright? You look a bit pale." His mother commented.

"Uh, I'm fine. I'll be leaving as soon as I can get ready and I'll be back in an hour or two."

His mother nodded and Tobio paused before asking, "What would you wear to an important event?"

"What kind of important event."

"Like… a celebration?"

She stopped folding and gave him a harsh look, "If you want advice on what to wear to your celebration simply ask."

"Sorry…"

"Just wear something casual, Tobio. You're going to celebrate with your friends not go to a dinner party."

"Yeah, that's true." Kageyama sighed. She was right, it was no big deal, even if the situation wasn't exactly like she thought it was. Just because he was dating them, didn't mean they weren't his friends too.

At least, he was pretty sure they were his friends.

Kageyama went to the bathroom to freshen up a little and then threw on a t-shirt and jeans before hurrying out of the house to make it to the café. "Bye, mama, see you soon!"

"Bye."

Kageyama closed the door and hurried off. He willed himself not to run there because what was the point in freshening up if he was going to get sweaty again?

The sun was slowly starting to set, casting a golden hue on everything. Kageyama really liked this time of day since it was so pretty and everything was starting to cool off.

People were heading home after a long day at work or running errands. Traffic was dying down for a bit until rush hour, and people were starting to clear off the streets. It felt peaceful, like he was walking alone in the world.

Finally, Kageyama reached the café Oikawa had been talking about. He could see Oikawa inside but not Iwaizumi, which was odd since Kageyama had thought out of the two of them, Oikawa would be much more likely to be late to pretty much anything.

He briefly stood outside, gathering up the courage to go in before opening the door. The bell rung, but nobody even noticed since despite the time of day, the café was still fairly loud.

Kageyama walked over to Oikawa who was messing with something on his phone. He took another deep breath before sliding in the seat across from Oikawa, "Hey."

Oikawa jumped, dropping his phone on the table and lifted his head to face him. "Tobio-chan, oh my gosh, don't scare me like that." He said, tenseness rolling out of his shoulders. Oikawa crossed his arms and leaned back with a sigh.

"Sorry," Kageyama said, fighting back laughter.

"It's not funny." Oikawa grumbled, pouting a little bit before sitting up animatedly. "How was your training camp?"

"It was fun. We played lots of volleyball, and the setter from Nekoma is an interesting player."

"What's so interesting about him?"

"Well… he's a good player I guess, it's just that he's not really exceptional at anything either, except observing the other team." But everyone else on the team was good and a lot of them were experienced too so they didn't need anyone in particular to be exceptional to be an exceptional team.

"That so. Maybe I'll meet him some time."

"You guys probably wouldn't get along." Kageyama said bluntly. He hadn't talked to Kenma for long, but from what he could gather, Kenma was introverted and liked to keep to himself. Kageyama also noticed he didn't have a very deep passion for volleyball, which was bound to irritate Oikawa as it irritated him.

"What?" Oikawa scoffed. "I get along with everyone. People love me!"

"Maybe." People did tend to gravitate towards Oikawa like people did Hinata, but Kageyama still doubted they would get along well. "Did you and Iwaizumi do anything this weekend?"

Oikawa squinted suspiciously, but didn't comment whatever he was thinking and leaned back in the booth again. "We just hung around. Played some volleyball, hung out at each other's places, just typical stuff." Oikawa waved his hand dismissively.

After he got his answer, Kageyama's brain spun for something else to talk about. He was saved from having to make small talk by Iwaizumi popping up at their table.

"Hey guys."

"Hi." Kageyama said, a bit relieved. Then he realized that Iwaizumi showing didn't automatically mean there would be no more small talk. They all fell quiet for a moment. Tobio felt his hands start to sweat from nervousness.

The silence was broken by Oikawa. "I'll go get us drinks. What do you want Tobio-chan?" Oikawa asked.

"Oh… I'll just get hot chocolate."

Kageyama slid some money over the table but Oikawa pushed back. "I'll pay this time. Don't say anything." Oikawa finished as Kageyama opened his mouth to protest. "Usual?" he turned to Iwaizumi who nodded.

Oikawa got up and Iwaizumi slid into the booth. "You uh… have a good time at the camp?"

Kageyama nodded. Then they fell quiet.

As Kageyama thought, Iwaizumi had dressed casual and Oikawa had dressed up more. Iwaizumi had worn a tank top and some sweats whereas Oikawa had some pretty looking jacket on. It was too warm for a jacket, in Kageyama's opinion, but people who dress nice probably sacrificed comfort for fashion sometimes.

Kageyama eyes snapped from Iwaizumi's arms to his eyes when he started speaking, "So… have you told your parents yet? About us, I mean."

"No." Kageyama admitted after some thought. "I was going to but I didn't want to discuss this something like this and then leave for the weekend. I'll… probably have to tell them tonight or wait till next weekend."

"Well, I hope it goes well. Although, I don't know why it wouldn't, unless they don't like the idea of you dating." Iwaizumi rubbed the back of his neck.

Kageyama hoped it went well too. "Something like that." He answered. "Does Oikawa-san's mom know?"

"Yeah, he talked to her about it a little while ago. She was happy for him, to say the least. She really likes you. My dad does too."

Kageyama gave a small smile while nervousness ate him away inside. He probably wouldn't be able to say the same about his own parents.

In time, Kageyama's father might be able to grow to like Iwaizumi but it was unlikely he would ever like Oikawa, even if he somehow grew to accept them both as his sons' soulmates.

His mother disliked most people in general. But he could see her potentially warming up to them someday if all of this worked out. She liked Hinata, she'd told him so, even though she only really heard about him through Kageyama. He chalked it up to a lot of people liking Hinata, but it could also just be that he was Kageyama's friend and she had no reason to dislike him.

Either way, he knew there was no way they'd be as accepting as Oikawa and Iwaizumi's parents were and it made him nervous.

He just hoped if they ever did meet there wouldn't be a fight because he had no idea what he would do in that situation.

Oikawa got back soon after with the drinks and sat next to Iwaizumi. "So, Tobio-chan, you usually get hot chocolate?"

Kageyama shrugged. He didn't go to cafés that often. He and Hinata preferred to play volleyball in the park if possible, and sometimes they did other things. Those things were rarely cafés.

"I guess so." He eventually answered after taking a few sips. The drink was good and reminded him of certain winter days when his mom would make it in a way he could never quite perfect.

"Have you guys read that book that just came out?" Oikawa asked. "It's a romance with mostly aliens and the two main characters are soulmates but they are also enemies."

"Tooru, is it a popular book? Cus if not, most people probably haven't. You're a nerd when it comes to supernatural stuff." Was all Iwaizumi said.

"The love interest also called the protagonist a nerd. And then they made out."

"Is that true or do you just want to compare yourself to the protagonist."

Oikawa smirked, "Read the book to find out Iwa-chan." He teased.

Iwaizumi sighed and rolled his eyes before smiling good naturedly.

Kageyama took another sip of his drink.

"What about you, Tobio-chan? Did you read it?" Oikawa asked but Kageyama could tell he already knew the answer.

"I'm only a nerd when it comes to sports." Kageyama said. Iwaizumi snorted and Oikawa pouted.

"I knew you would say something like that. No fun, Tobio-chan."

Kageyama tried to hide his smile from behind his cup, but maybe they could still tell he was from his eyes.

The date continued, Kageyama keeping track of the time so he wouldn't forget to leave when he needed to.

At one point Oikawa got up for the bathroom, leaving Kageyama and Iwaizumi alone again.

They were quiet, Iwaizumi looking out the window, and Kageyama staring at his cup. Talking and being with the two of them felt so natural and awkward at the same time.

Kageyama wondered if at one point he would open his eyes and realize this was just a dream.

Kageyama glanced up from his cup to find Iwaizumi looking at him. He tried to avert his gaze when Iwaizumi spoke. "Sometimes, I still can't believe we're soulmates." He said.

Kageyama paused. "What do you mean?" Iwaizumi hadn't said it like it was a bad thing, but he still wondered why he couldn't believe it.

"I mean just that. For a long time I thought it was just Oikawa, only to find out you were my soulmate too. Sometimes it still feels like a dream. You know when something good happens and it just doesn't even feel real for a while?"

Kageyama had felt like that when his parents started letting him make his own decisions, and when Oikawa and Iwaizumi asked to date him. He felt that way right at this very moment, so he nodded.

"That's how I feel."

Kageyama smiled slightly. "I grew up thinking negatively of soulmates. I kind of thought they didn't even mean anything for a while, and…" he'd felt hopeless. But Kageyama didn't say that.

"Well… maybe they don't make the most sense sometimes. And the media's portrayal of them isn't the best..."

Funny since most people had them, but then again media wasn't the best at portraying good relationships in general.

"But I still think they're important. And," Iwaizumi started, "I think that… whatever your view on soulmates is, no matter what the world will try to bring soulmates together. I think it'll try it's damndest to make you meet your match. Or, matches."

"Maybe it does." Kageyama said, feeling his heart warm. Iwaizumi's faith in soulmates and what the world apparently planned was endearing. "But that doesn't mean they'll stay together." He added, because he still believed that to be true.

The last time Kageyama said something similar, Iwaizumi had argued so he was a little surprised by his answer. "No, yeah, you're right." Iwaizumi admitted. Kageyama was surprised but he had noticed Iwaizumi had been trying to dial down how he thought soulmates should be together no matter what.

And with that they fell silent once more.

"Um… Kag-Tobio…" Iwaizumi started. Kageyama turned to look at him. "I'm glad we got to do this." He said, reaching over and intertwining his fingers with Kageyama.

Tobio blushed and felt his hand start to sweat a little. He'd touched people's hands before, all the time when huddling with the team. But this felt different.

A lot different.

A sudden sound of someone clearing their throat had Kageyama quickly snatching his hand from Iwaizumi's like he'd been committing a crime.

"Oh Tobio-chan." Oikawa said, standing at the table with a little pout. "Are you just going to let Iwaizumi have all the firsts. What about me?" He whined.

"Maybe if you weren't so slow, you'd get more opportunities." Iwaizumi said.

"You're so mean, Iwa-chan. You cheated by waiting for me to be gone!"

"This wasn't planned. And because you want it to be, that's the reason you didn't get to be the first to hold hands with him now that we're dating."

Oikawa opened his mouth to argue when Kageyama interrupted, "I mean, you did start calling me by my first name first." Kageyama said.

Oikawa looked triumphant for a moment until Iwaizumi cut in, "Yeah, to piss you off."

"Hey!"

"I guess that's true. But… it never really pissed me off." Kageyama said nervously. Sure, Kageyama knew calling him by his first name with that suffix was to anger him but how could he be angry when it was the only form of familiarity Oikawa had shown with him, even if it was false.

"Shittykawa, you're blushing."

"No I'm not you big oaf! I got a little sun today is all!"

"Mhm." Iwaizumi clearly wasn't convinced, and Kageyama wasn't either but he didn't say anything either. "So," Iwaizumi turned to Kageyama, "you want us to walk you home?"

"Uh," Kageyama hesitated. His parents might see them if he did, and they'd never seen them before. They might ask questions. But then again, he was going to tell them anyway. Maybe it would be good if they asked him questions? "If you're okay with it."

"If we weren't we wouldn't ask." Oikawa said, smiling.

It was Kageyama's turn to blush again. "Right."

They left the café and Kageyama started leading them back to his house.

As they were walking, Iwaizumi slowly intertwined his fingers with Kageyama's. Tobio also noticed him wrap an arm around Oikawa's waist.

Kageyama then stole a glance at Iwaizumi, who was looking back at him. He leaned in slightly closer to Iwaizumi and gently squeezed his hand. Soon, Iwaizumi averted his gaze back to the sidewalk, grinning.

They kept walking as the sun started setting completely and it started getting dark. All Kageyama could focus on, were the butterflies in his stomach.

"You guys ready for inter high?" Oikawa asked as they were walking. He asked both of them but Kageyama knew the question was directed at him.

Kageyama almost sighed at the question. He knew, that no matter how far the three of them went with this relationship, Oikawa would probably never be able to let go of the rivalry. Kageyama didn't know if he would even want him to. It was fun to have someone to challenge. And Kageyama loved competing. He just hoped that at some point the relationship could come before the rivalry. And if that never happened, Kageyama didn't think that this could work.

"I'm ready." Kageyama answered.

"Me too." Iwaizumi said.

"Play to win." Oikawa said.

"Always." Kageyama knew it was their last year of high school, but it was his senpai's last year too, and he was going to do his best to get them as far as his skills could take them.

"I hope we get to do this again soon." Iwaizumi said when they arrived at Kageyama's house.

Kageyama knew it was unlikely to happen again before the tournament. Tensions would be too high. And after? Well, Kageyama didn't know if this would last after.

"Yeah me too… so uh, I'll see you guys later."

Kageyama knew that in most movies, at the end of the first date, the couple would kiss. But in real life he was pretty sure that only happened occasionally, so he didn't think much about what should happen at the end of the date. But saying goodbye with the possibility of another date was enough for him.

"Interhighs? Really?" Kageyama heard Iwaizumi mutter to Oikawa after he thought Tobio was out of earshot.

"Yep. And you definitely brought up soulmates."

"… Okay point taken."

Kageyama smiled to himself. Sometimes certain conversations weren't exactly fun to think about but it wasn't like they just couldn't be discussed. The three of them being soulmates and interhighs were a huge part of all their lives. And even though Kageyama didn't necessarily like to bring up those things, at the same time it would feel wrong not to. So he didn't mind. Soulmates were important to Iwaizumi, the tournament was important to Oikawa (it was important to him too). Kageyama was okay talking about those things, even though it seemed Oikawa and Iwaizumi didn't think so, which might've been true at one point.

Thinking back on the date, the night had been pretty perfect as far as first dates went. He'd never been on any other date before, but he imagined some were a lot more awkward.

Now, he didn't want to potentially ruin this feeling and the night by bringing his soulmates to his parents attention. But at this point there would never be a right time or way to tell them. So he may as well get it over with and try not to get upset. Hopefully his parents would try not to as well but there was a slim chance of that happening.

Kageyama didn't even know if he should be feeling scared. He sort of felt seven feet tall and like he could run the world if he wanted to right now.

Kageyama opened the door and slipped off his shoes before going to the kitchen to tell his mother. Maybe telling them one at a time would somehow be better. He was aware that this news could also start another argument between his parents, which he definitely didn't want after things had 'calmed down'. So that was another reason to tell them separately.

Hopefully his mother's reaction was over before his father got home or everything would just get that much messier.

A/N I've only been on a few dates so this chapter was interesting to write lol. Anyway um... conflict time. We have this huge discussion and then the tournament! Thanks for reading!
