Jewel's pov
I was so excited for today! Despite me having somewhat of a grip on my powers and Dad coming clean to all three of us, I had yet to tell my brothers my secret. So, I just told them Dad was taking me on one of our typical Daddy-Daughter dates. Which was kinda true... But said "dates" did not normally include going to his Fortress of Solitude with his biological father's AI in the Arctic for a more intense training. I loved the upgrade on these "dates", I gotta say. Mom was going to be busy chasing down a lead on that brat Morgan Edge with the help of her new friend and current boss, Chrissy; and Sarah had invited me and the boys to a bonfire party. I had other plans, involving more cold and less fire; but the boys were excited to attend, especially Jordan, obviously.
Dad and I finally made it to the Fortress, flying most of the way. We landed gracefully and I smiled triumphantly
"I won! I got here first!"
Not at all mad, Dad laughed in protest
"You never even called a race, you cheated!"
Enjoying this new side of our dynamic, I teased
"No, I won."
He chuckled and slung his arm around me, showing me around the famous Fortress of Solitude, and the history of our ancestors. I can't explain it, but seeing every statue and every output of information made me feel more connected to my Dad's home planet, and share in his grief, aching for a place none of us had truly ever known but for in the stories. And yet it still hurt. After a moment of somber silence, Dad recovered and took me to a room set up with fighting equipment, and all sorts of things to help me hone my powers, along with regular hand-to-hand physical combat skills.

Jon and I were having a good enough time at the bonfire, but I was still a bit nervous. Social anxiety is the worst. Then I saw someone that seemed to ease my nerves quite a lot everything she was around. Sarah was making her way towards me. Phew. We began having a conversation when I noticed she was taking a pill. Not aspirin or pain killers. Like, straight up medication. She noticed I was looking and averted my gaze
"Promise not to tell anyone? One person finds out and then the whole town knows... I just figured you'd understand, because you were really sweet that summer, and then I saw you take a pill at the funeral..."
Stopping her rambling to tranquilize her, I spoke
"I understand. Your secret is safe with me."
She then opened up more to me about the backstory to her being put on the meds and I opened up more about my anxiety history. It was nice to have someone who understood, and to be that for someone else. Caught up in the moment, I kissed her. She quickly puled away, and the gravity of what I had done was starting to sink in when one football player came and started beating on me. I think his name was Sean, and he was Sarah's boyfriend. Just as quickly as Sean started to beat on me, Jonathan was at my side, trying to deescalate the fight. Sarah quickly joined his efforts, but was less physical than my brother, who readily put himself in the line of fire, shoving me to a safe distance as he tackled Sean to the ground and the two of them started taking shots at each other, much to our horror.
At one point, I found myself on the floor, having tripped on something, and something in me snapped that I could not control. It was like an out of body experience. Blasts of heat erupted from my eyes, and they must have mixed with something that was not good, because there was an explosion soon after, and then a huge fire. Huge enough that Sarah's dad and his squad had to take care of it.

My Dad and I both heard the sound at the same time, and spoke
"The boys. Let's go."
As we got closer, we heard an explosion, kids screaming, and then smelled and saw the fire. At the bonfire Jord, Jon and the other kids were at. I spoke
"You go. They'll see the upgrade to the Blur's costume, or worse, wonder why their Dad has a sidekick and who she is."
He smiled
"Blur your voice and face, worked for me every time. I can handle their questions. Let's go."
Reassured, I followed him there, and we used our super breath to assist the firemen in putting out the fire from afar. We could tell Jordan looked scared.

Once my Jewel and I were back in our civilian attire, we went to the boys, Lois soon meeting us there after being clued in. If the boys had noticed us, they did not say anything. They might wait til we get back home. They seemed fine, but a little beat up. I inquired
"What happened?"
Jord sighed
"Sarah's boyfriend and I got into a fight... actually, he beat me up because I accidentally kissed Sarah without knowing they were together, then Jon tried to defend me, getting beat up as well, and then something inside me snapped and next thing I knew, I had shot, like, fire from my eyes. I think I have powers."
I held back a sigh, and I don't even know if it was a sigh of pure relief or half and half
"The Fortress will have a better answer than 'think'. But that's for another time. For now, let's just get some ice on you both, you've had quite a night."
Once they had ice packs on their faces, they felt much better. Jord smiled at his brother
"Thanks for defending me, Jon."
The football player in question smiled
"Anytime, Jord."

Jordan smiled at Dad and me
"How was your day together?"
We smiled
"It was great."
He grinned
"Good. Dad, do you have a new apprentice or something? I saw someone with you, with a blurry face... looked like a girl."
Before he could react, Jon spoke, making me choke on the water I was drinking
"Blurred face or not, she seemed to be pretty hot, but I'm a taken man..."
That's a statement he and I are BOTH going to be haunted by for the rest of our lives once he finds out my secret. But I get to be scarred forever starting now. Yay me. Dad recovered quickly and said he couldn't say anything to breach her privacy yet, making Jonathan sulk, despite his romance with Eliza. I suppressed an eye roll. Boys...
The next day, we were talking with Sarah about the events of the party, and she reported
"Dad said no one was too severely injured, but Tag Harris broke his arm. The fire was started by methane pockets, at least that's their theory. But I can't believe there was a near confirmed Superman sighting, and that he seemed to have a female apprentice with him, a sidekick."
Again, Jon said words he'll one day regret
"She seems like a babe, too. Blurry and all."
Yeah, I needed to tell him sooner rather than later. And I felt like saying something to Sarah's report too
"Jon, you have a girlfriend. Stop fantasizing about Superman's blurry-faced partner. "
I emphasized partner as the preferred term instead of sidekick. Yes, I was still learning from him, but even he considered us equals. So everyone else should follow suit.
