Paige was back to laying in her bed, her mother had taken the rest of the pot Matt had given her. It had been a week since she had gotten that horrible news. The day still replayed in her head, from the thought of having an actual abortion to the accident itself that landed her in the hospital. She never even got to have an ultrasound to see the kid. She was snapped out of it by her phone alert.
Ashley: hey, you don't have to talk to me if you don't want to, just letting you know I'm here if you need anything
She had been getting even more messages like this since her one day back which ended with being sent to the principal's office. She heard a knock at her door before the sound of it opening, neither caused her to turn her head and look.
'"Paige?" Her mother asked, concerned, "you have a visitor." She turned her head as her mother was leaving to see Spinner.
"Hey..." Spinner said, '"Hey." She replied
."So this week I just been thinking a lot about...ya know...and I thought if I'm this upset you must be like..."
"Spinner, get to the point or leave." Paige snapped
"Right, I was talking to someone about how some people do some kind of tribute or something to I guess honor the baby."
"It's actually not a bad idea. Maybe then things can start to get back to normal." Paige said thoughtfully
"Yeah she had a bunch of ideas-"
"Wait, she?"
"Yeah it was Emma who had the idea."
"I'll think about and get back to you." He nodded and left her room. As much as she liked the idea it bothered her that Emma had discussed it with Spinner and not her.
She threw off her covers, jumping out of her bed, she needed to see Emma and this would also help her finally move on. She decided she needed to clean up first after laying in bed for days.
Emma stood in front of her mirror staring at her changing body. While Manny sat on the bed watching her.
"Okay be honest, is it obvious I'm pregnant and not just getting fat?"
"Once the mom boobs come in it will be."
Emma just sighed. As much as Sean liked her pregnant body, she still felt self conscious but after the current events, she tried not to let it upset her too much.
They heard the door at the top of the stairs open, it was Paige.
Emma immediately pulled her shirt back down over her belly, hoping her baggy shirt would hide it.
"Paige!" She ran up to her hugging her, she looked like her old self not the Paige she had seen that day in the hall when she showed up high. "
You look great!" "So do you." She said as she placed a hand on Emma's belly.
"Sooo...Spinner said you talked to him about some kind of memorial?"
"Right, so come look at this." She followed Emma over to her laptop where she had multiple pages opened. "So I asked on this new moms site how they struggled and eventually got closure when they...ya know..got the bad news. Some did a little memorial garden even planting a nursery in their honor, which afterwards they realized might be out of their price range. One that I thought you'd really like is the tattoo tribute."
Paige just stared at the collection of pictures Emma had found. There was one particular tattoo that stood out to her. "That one!" She pointed at the screen as Emma stopped scrolling and enlarged the image. The design was of a baby's footprints with angel wings on the side with a halo above and the baby's name below. "That's the one I want."
"Did you want to include a name? They say that's supposed to help." Emma asked
Paige thought about it for a minute. "Chloe."
"After your daughter from the dream?"
"Regardless if I ever have kids in the future, she's always going to be as real to me as any of them."
"I like it."
Paige watched as Emma scrolled through and explained several of the other pictures she saved. "You've been really busy...is this why I haven't heard from you lately?"
"I...I just thought...maybe I'm the last person you'd want to see right now..."
"Is that why you talked to Spinner about it?"
"Yeah..."
"Sweetie..." Paige moved over to gently hug her friend, taking a moment to breathe in her flowery body scent.
"Hey, get a room you two!" Manny shouted from the other side of the room.
"Let's be honest we've both done worse." Emma joked.
"Yeah, right," Paige said, forcing a chuckle.
"Can I tell you something?'' Emma nodded quietly
''Before this all happened I was genuinely considering abortion."
Emma gasped slightly "what changed your mind?"
"I talked to Ashley, she said if I can't think of even a single reason to keep it to go ahead, but then I thought of how much fun it'd be raising our kids together."
"It would've been..."
