A/N Hey guys, welcome to my first Sly Cooper story but this one will be different than your typical OC winding up in the events of Sly Cooper and you'll see soon because I have something special planned for our new character Peter, so enjoy.
(Kane Island, the South Pacific, 1:15 AM)
It was pouring down heavily as the storm raged on with lightning occurring as a figure covered in shadows perched on top of a vine connected to two palm trees before the figure began moving across the vine and jumped up to the top of the other tree, landing on it perfectly with a spin and jumped onto another vine until the figure slid on it before jumping fluidly onto the side of another palm tree.
The figure climbed up the tree and hopped over to the top of a statue, hanging off of the ear and gazing down at two mutant elephant guards that were keeping watch of the area just as a flash of lightning occurred and the figure was gone in a second, then a gold c-shaped hook reached out and yanked one of the guards away by the neck as it caught the attention of the other guard before he was taken away by the same hook.
After that, the figure moved quickly and jumped over to a pier before using a pipe to climb under it, the slight noise catching the attention of a single guard that had his back turned before he turned around and went to investigate just as the figure reached the other side of the pier and climbed up onto it.
As the figure silently snuck up to the guard, it got brighter and the lit-up area revealed the figure to be a male raccoon in his early twenties while he was wearing a blue elbow-sleeved shirt with a yellow collar, blue boots, gray cargo pants with a belt that had a metal raccoon head for a buckle, blue gloves with yellow cuffs, red leg-pouch, a black thief's mask that covered his eyes, and a blue cap as the raccoon got close and sent the guard into the air with a strike with his cane that had the gold hook.
The raccoon slammed the guard down by using his cane's hook to snag the guard's belt, the elephant mutant letting out a groan as he fell unconscious and the raccoon went up the pier before coming to a stop as he gazed up at the island while holding a hard expression as he saw a bunch of drills trying to break open a large vault door that was situated up at the near top of the island while the area was surrounded by prison-like walls with guard towers and anti-air guns.
Narrowing his brown eyes, the raccoon reached into his leg-pouch to take out what appeared to be high-tech binoculars and held them up to his eyes, just as he saw a green turtle with glasses and a bicycle helmet on a screen that was located on the bottom left before the raccoon started to listen what the turtle had to say.
"This is it Sly, the gang's assembled and are in position to help you get up to that vault so, for the rest of the operation, you are the ball," Bentley informed me and I frowned thoughtfully.
"Roger Bentley, I'm starting my approach so getting over these fortress walls shouldn't be a problem and we're running five by five here, so make sure everyone's in sync," I replied before Bentley nodded.
"I hear that so, Artillery, sure you can make that shot?" Bentley asked one of the members of our crew.
"I endeavor not to miss," a deep male voice with an Asian accent answered.
"Excellent, radio control?" Bently questioned.
"In position," a female voice replied.
"Recovery team?" Bentley inquired.
"I'm pumped!" a male voice declared enthusiastically.
"Submersibles?" Bentley asked.
"Showtime, baby!" a male voice with a distinct accent confirmed excitingly.
"Telekinetics?" Bentley inquired.
"(Ready to go)," a male voice answered in another language, but I understood what he was saying while Bentley grinned eagerly.
"Alright, it's the crime of the century and the ball's in motion!" Bentley declared, causing me to smile since I was also eager to see inside my vault so that I could take back my accomplishments.
"Roger, the ball is rolling but stay alert since there's no telling what else that bastard has in store for us," I warned and received acknowledgments from the others before I put my binocucom away.
I went over to an old rusted truck and climbed up to the roof before heading over to a rope that was tied to the back, jumping onto it and walking across the rope easily to a cliff before hopping off as I kept moving.
"Agent Heartthrob, take up position for a yank 86, over," Bentley instructed one of our crew members as I jumped onto a pipe and slid across it.
"Got a visual," the woman responded while I went over to a ledge that was next to a rock wall, then I stopped as I looked up and saw three guards above as they kept watch for any intruders.
"The ball has stopped rolling, we have an obstruction," Bentley said just as an RC chopper showed up with a hook.
"I'm on it," Heartthrob replied just as the chopper began yanking the guards off the cliff one at a time and they fell into the water below.
"First is away, the second guy is pulled, and third is skyward so roll on ball, over," Heartthrob told me, then I nodded as I proceeded to cross the ledge.
"Understood, the ball is rolling again," I replied while I made it to the other side and came to a stop at a cliff.
"Agent Old Rock, prep for tipper," Bentley instructed.
"(Tipping now)," Old Rock replied in acknowledgment as he used his magic on the antenna that was on the building across from me.
"Let 'er rip, Old Rock, the ball's in position," Bentley added before Old Rock knocked down the antenna, giving me a bridge to move forward as I smirked.
"Much obliged, Old Rock," I commented as I jumped onto the fallen tower and moved across it until I jumped off and headed across the rooftop, Old Rock thanking me for the compliment as I hopped off the building and made it to a large grate with a fan.
"Ball requesting door via Agent Monarch, over," I requested while I touched my earpiece.
"Launching, stand clear," Monarch warned before I took a few steps back, just in time for a rocket to collide into a lift just above the grate before it exploded and fell onto the grate until smashing and clearing a path inside for me.
"I've got visual confirmation on the door, nice shooting," Bentley said as I jumped into the opening and started traveling through the tunnel.
"Ball here, heading inside the compound," I reported smoothly as I whacked a few large roots to pieces with my cane while also jumping over currents of electricity.
"Be advised, the ball is nearing the lab so Agent Deep Six, are you ready?" Bentley asked and I heard a chuckle from our frogman of the group.
"Speargun loaded," Deep Six confirmed as I smashed open a grate at the end of the tunnel, entering the lab and going over to a bunch of pipes before walking across them until I stopped at a bunch of lasers.
"Agent Deep Six, deploy," Bentley ordered and I saw a shadowy figure shooting the weaknesses for both laser fences, taking them down as I sent a nod to the man that was underwater.
"Strong work, Deep Six," I complimented and the man waved back at me.
"Anytime," Deep Six replied before I continued moving across the pipes, then I spotted the very person we were taking my wealth back from while he was below me with an elephant mutant, just before I went onto the top of the elevator next to me and turned invisible as the mandrill and the elephant entered the elevator.
"How's your wife doing, Richards?" the mandrill asked while Richards pushed the button that would take the elevator to the top.
"Oh, very well Dr. M, so thank you for asking since that's very thoughtful of you," Richards replied with a smile.
"And your son, what's his name, Mike?" Dr. M inquired just as the elevator started ascending.
"Mark, and he's doing well too, sir," Richards said before Dr. M sighed.
"Well, shame you won't be seeing them again," Dr. M stated and it caused Richards to look at him in confusion.
"Uh...sir?" Richards asked hesitantly and flinched when Dr. M sent him a frown.
"Afraid I've poisoned your drink at lunch, so I'm sorry about that but I don't tolerate poor performance since you should've changed the security code from 123 after you installed the system," Dr. M growled in displeasure, Richards looking terrified as he started breathing heavily.
"I'll improve, I swear!" Richards begged and Dr. M shook his head.
"No, you'll die any second now," Dr. M told him as Richards started clutching his chest and let out choking noises as he reached out for Dr. M before he collapsed, letting out one final rasping sound and stopped breathing as Dr. M's phone rang and he answered it.
"Yes? Water leaking into the lab?! I'm on my way down and get a janitor for the lab elevator, Richards got sloppy," Dr. M ordered before he hung up, just as the elevator started to descend and I jumped off before Bentley contacted me.
"Your vault is just across these wires, so I'm en route to your location for the loot haul, over," Bentley notified me as I headed over to a nearby wire and started crossing it.
"Understood, will meet you there," I replied as I crossed the security area undetected, thanks to me being invisible as I made it to the vault and went over to the console that controlled the drills and lasers trying to break into the large door.
Imputing the code I heard earlier, I grinned as the drills and lasers deactivated before moving away from the vault until I walked over to the door and looked up at it as I became visible, my eyes softening while I thought about all the riches I have achieved from countless heists and put in that vault before I let out a tired sigh and held up my cane.
"Well, time to face the past and make sure M doesn't get his greedy fucking hands on everything I've put in here," I muttered before I inserted the cane into the lock, causing the door to unlock and began to open.
Suddenly, just as the vault door was about to open fully, a blast of electricity came at me and I was forced to dodge while it struck the door, causing it to close shut and I glared up a Dr. M as he hovered above me and his eyes widened in shock.
"Conner?! No...you must be Sly Cooper, the new keeper of the cane! Oh, how I've longed for this," Dr. M stated with an unstable look in his eyes and a twisted smile on his face, causing me to scowl since I always suspected that he was a sociopath, which was the very reason why we were never close friends back when I was my previous incarnation, Conner.
"Listen asshole, this vault belongs to the Cooper family so you're trespassing on sacred grounds," I stated darkly and Dr. M chuckled amusingly.
"No, my naive boy, you're trespassing since I've got the deed to this island and that makes this fortress mine, everything here is mine so that includes the key to the vault, now hand over the cane," Dr. M demanded and I smirked.
"Sorry pal, family heirloom so buy a knock-off at the gift shop and, last I checked, only a Cooper can open this vault and you sure as hell aren't one," I remarked with a mocking grin while I noticed Bentley hopping up onto the roof of a guard tower nearby with his wheelchair's hover boost and he shot an explosive dart at Dr. M, knocking him back and Bentley waved at me.
"Quick, let's regroup with the others, so fall back to the ship!" Bentley called out, prompting me to run for it as Dr. M began shooting at me and Bentley while we met up at the elevator shaft.
We jumped into the elevator shaft while Bentley was commenting on how bad the situation was getting, the two of us falling down while passing through lasers that tripped the alarm until we landed into the flooded lab, then Bentley used his hover booster to fly over to the entrance of the tunnel while I hopped across wooden boxes and metal debris, meeting up with Bentley and we ran through the tunnel before we quickly left it and came across a gap.
"We're almost home free!" Bentley shouted as he cleared the gap and wheeled over to a pillar before planting a bomb and getting out of the way, the bomb exploding and making the pillar topple over and giving me a bridge to move across.
"Thank god, the boat's just up ahead!" Bentley added, just before a giant reptilian monster dropped down and blocked the path to the boat while my eyes widened as Bentley was grabbed by the monster and he screamed in terror.
"Bentley!" I yelled in horror before I saw Dr. M attached to the monster's jaw and sent him an angry look.
"There's no escape, Cooper!" Dr. M declared smugly.
"That's it, no more mister nice thief," I growled as I hopped onto the newly makeshift bridge and quickly moved across it before making it onto the other side.
I dodged a fist that almost crushed me and rushed over to strike Dr. M with my cane, only the monster swung at me and pain exploded everywhere as the world spun and I found myself laying on the ground before I quickly got up with a grimace as something wet ran down the side of my head, knowing that it was blood as I ran across the fallen pillar again and dodged another swipe and struck Dr. M again but it didn't seem to phase him.
"It's not working, save yourself!" Bentley shouted, making me grit my teeth as I scowled before I decided to do an act of desperation that might get me killed.
"If that big bastard wants to eat, then eat this!" I declared before I threw my cane at the monster and it landed into its mouth, making it let go of Bentley and the turtle wheeled away fast to get some distance as the monster flung the cane to its left and grabbed me while my only weapon was sent far away.
"Sly, oh god no! Hold on, Sly, hold on!" Bentley screamed in a panic while I could feel the monster squeezing me.
I gripped the monster's hand and struggled the break free, but I knew it was useless as I saw the monster opening its mouth to roar at me and pure fear flooded me while the pain was erupting from getting my body squeezed too tightly as bones creaked from the agonizing pressure.
I've experienced death before, more times than I can count thanks to Clockwerk brutally killing me throughout history, but this felt different and some part of me understood that I wasn't going to come back this time once this monster killed me, then my eyes widened as it all came back to me before I remembered how it all started.
(Flashback)
I approached the wall of Mr. Stevens store and began using a spray can to tag it with graffiti of a dragon and knight fighting while also adding mounds of gold to complete the image, taking a step back to admire my latest work as I grinned.
"Well, if art is a crime, then just-" I muttered and was cut off when I heard a siren and a car pulling up nearby, causing panic to flare up as I began running since I knew who that was and the last thing I needed was to be caught by him.
I kept running until I made it to a friend's house and knocked on the door, then Seth opened it and he smiled when he saw me.
"Peter, I wasn't expecting you to show up here so suddenly," Seth greeted while I tried to look casual.
"Hey man, you wouldn't mind if I hang out with you for a little bit, right?" I asked and Seth looked puzzled at first until he stared at me suspiciously.
"Peter, what the hell did you do this time?" Seth questioned and I started sweating a little as I smiled.
"Nothing, why would you say that?" I lied and Seth stared at me, looking unimpressed.
"The only reason you're here is if you did something like graffiti a wall and want to hide from your brother, who is behind you by the way," Seth told me, then someone cleared their throat and I grimaced before I slowly turned around to see my brother, who was a police officer and he had his arms crossed while holding a stern glare.
"Um...hey, Derrick," I greeted nervously before Derrick sent Seth an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry about him, so let me take him off your hands for you," Derrick said sheepishly with an expression of embarrassment and Seth nodded.
"It's no trouble at all," Seth replied until Derrick grabbed me by the arm and escorted me away from the house, taking me to his patrol car and opening the passenger door before making me get inside until he shut the door and got into the driver's seat not long after that before driving us away from Seth's home.
"Okay, you have any idea how embarrassing it is for me to keep bailing you out of these situations you put yourself in? Truancy and misdemeanor vandalism? Have you thought about what it's doing to your mother right now, how it's affecting her?" Derrick lectured with a scowl before I huffed.
"I just wanted to liven the place up a bit and school's boring," I said irritably and Derrick's eyes narrowed at my tone.
"You think this is a game?! You are in a lot of trouble right now and you can bet your ass that Stevens will be livid once he finds your little handiwork defacing the side of his store, not to mention that I'm at the end of my rope with you!" Derrick shouted in frustration before I sent him a heated glare.
"Well, sorry that I'm an inconvenience for you since I just wanted to show my talent to the rest of the world!" I retorted hotly, then Derrick sighed and looked tired as he kept driving.
"Look, I know that it hasn't been easy since dad died, but you can't keep doing this because you're going to get yourself into a situation that you won't be able to get out of...you're my brother and I care about you, which is why I'm no longer going to let this slide anymore so the next time you do this, you will find yourself spending a night in a cell because you have your whole life ahead of you and dad wouldn't have wanted this for you," Derrick told me solemnly.
After that, the ride home was tense until we arrived and I got out, my brother staying close to make sure I didn't try to run as we entered the house and mom was waiting with a look of disapproval as I went to say something, only I was refrained from speaking when she held up her hand to stop me as mom seethed.
"I don't want to hear it, I work hard to provide for you after your father died and this is the thanks I get?! You're grounded for two months, no video games or TV so go to your room and think about what you did because you will be cleaning that graffiti off of the side of Mr. Stevens' store!" Mom shouted lividly, then I went upstairs without a word and went into my room.
I laid down on my bed and started sobbing into my pillow as I thought about my father and missed him so much, hating how everything just fell apart after he died and wished he was still here before I saw something glint out of the corner of my eye and looked to see a glowing blue slit of light hovering in the middle of the room, making me quickly get out of bed and gawk at what I was seeing until the light grew bigger and turned into a blue swirly vortex that started sucking me in.
I grabbed the bedpost and held on while I was screaming in a panic as the sound of mom and Derrick rushing up the stairs got louder before Derrick bashed open the door with his shoulder, then he and mom widened their eyes in horror at the sight of me gripping the bedpost and a blue vortex trying to suck me in before Derrick reached out for me.
"Peter, grab my hand!" Derrick shouted urgently as I looked at him and mom with a terrified expression on my face.
I was barely able to move one of my hands over to Derrick's and the worst thing happened, the bedpost snapped in half and I flew into the vortex screaming while Derrick and mom stared at me with horrified looks as I dropped the bedpost and flew into the vortex.
(Play Thieves in Time Theme)
I twisted and spun around as I traveled through the blue tunnel and could see different locations passing by that looked like different periods of time, only the people were either animal humanoids, monsters, and more just as a Malamute flew past me without noticing me and I hyperventilated in utter terror, not knowing where I was going and that scared me.
I kept being flung around and the whole time I wondered if I was going to die just as everything went black, falling unconscious from the shock as I was being taken to god knows where.
(End song)
I stirred from unconsciousness, letting out a groan as I woke up and noticed that it was freezing cold while I opened my eyes and sat up before I hugged myself and shivered as I stood up and gazed out at the new environment I was thrown in, my eyes widening at the sight of standing in a valley with ice and snow covering everything but what stunned me was prehistoric animals like wooly mammoths, dodo birds, or sabertooth tigers walking around on two legs and wearing animal skins for warmth while grunting in a different language.
"Oh fuck...you can't be serious," I whimpered just as a cry erupted behind me and I had to duck while a large pterosaur flew above me and ignored me entirely.
I was seriously screwed, there was no doubt about that since it looked like I was now trapped in the prehistoric era and, from what I could see, it looked like I arrived sometime during the ice age as well but what I couldn't understand is how the mammals were walking like neanderthals while speaking like them just before I heard a screech behind me and turned around to freeze up at the sight of a massive owl swooping down at me with its talons aiming to grab me.
Terror flooded my system and I drop to the ground to prevent my head from getting removed from my shoulders as the owl flew right above me, then I scrambled up to my feet and proceeded to flee for my life as I heard the owl turning around to chase after me while I was letting out frightened gasps, just as I spotted a small cave that would be big enough for me and kept running towards it while the humanoid prehistoric animals spotted me and began letting out loud grunts as they waved their spears around.
I got close to the cave when something slashed my back, tearing through my jacket, hoodie, and flesh before I fell face-first with a scream of pain and began to force myself to stand until my leg was grabbed and torn during my struggle, making me howl in agony as I quickly rolled over to kick the owl in the beak more than once with my foot.
Then the owl went to rip me open with its beak and I grabbed it with my two hands as I struggled to keep it back, but I was having serious trouble because of how strong the large bird was and desperation set in as I reached around with my one hand and grabbed a rock, swinging hard to bash the owl in the face as it let out an agonized screech from the rock creating a nasty gash before animalistic rage appeared in the owl's eyes.
At that moment, I knew that I was fucked as the owl used its talons to rip into my chest while blood spurted out and one of my arms was severed as I heard a loud noise, then it hit me that the noise was me shrieking in pure agony while the owl began feasting on my internal organs, just before my legs were ripped off and my screams died down to gurgling and choking as I slipped into shock and couldn't do anything anymore except twitch slightly as my vision started dimming and my one last thought was of my mom and Derrick before I knew nothing after that.
Pretty soon, I found myself curled up feeling warm and safe as I couldn't hear or see anything around me, but there was a sensation of a heartbeat nearby and it made me relax while I wondered if I was dead and this was heaven, then there was the sensation of being forcibly moved and I found myself freezing suddenly while I didn't like the thought of not feeling warm and I opened my mouth to protest.
I shouted and yelled as everything was blurry around me before something went across my body, the sensation calming me and I struggled to move since I felt so weak and helpless as a rumble above me sounded like something from an animal calming their baby until I realized what was going on, now pissed that I had died and was reincarnated as something else so all I could do was try to get used to the fact that I was unable to go home now that my former body was unrecognizable and most likely food to that owl now as I let out a noise similar to a raccoon in distress.
A/N That's pretty messed up with what happened to Peter because of the owl, who's someone that fans of the Sly Cooper series know well, and that Malamute Peter saw while being transported to the world of Sly Cooper was a cameo appearance of Seth Mercer from The Thing From Another Dimension while he was still assimilated by the alien creature, so I thought I would do that to show that Seth wasn't the only being that was sucked into the blue vortex.
As for who Peter was reincarnated into, you should have an idea as to who it is and those who don't know who I'm talking about, it's one of my favorite characters in Thieves of Time, and the prehistoric level in that game should help give you an answer if you guys decide to check out what I'm talking about, so let me know what you think and stay tuned.
