The Times of Vacuo:

Insurgency in the Kingdom of Vacuo

A young girl has killed the Headmaster of Shade, and the members of Vacou Council. Yang Xiao Long, the insurgent, has seized power and declared herself the Emperor of Vacuo. The self-proclaimed Emperor dissolved the Kingdom of Vacuo, and turned it into a state of her new and unknown "Unholy Ultimus Empire"

The Rising Heat

The Kingdom no more, the Emperor declares!

The newly crowned Emperor of the Unholy Ultimus Empire, Yang de Ultimus, has killed her enemies, and took over Vacuo, annexing it into her Empire. To her demands of loyalty, all obeyed and bent the knee.

Just Vacuo News:

We are now an Empire

Yang Xiao Long, who renamed herself to Yang de Ultimus upon her coronation, had taken over the Kingdom of Vacuo and integrated it into the new Empire, the Unholy Ultimus Empire, she had created. The future seems uncertain, and our Emperor's will is yet unknown.

The Times of Vacuo:

The Young Emperor makes moves to solidate her "Supreme and only Authority"

The Emperor ordered the Shade Academy to direct all off-duty Huntsmen to the "corners of [her] grand Empire", specifically to the villages outside of the city walls. Officially this is to "protect [her] people from the menace of Grimm that seeks to destroy our very way of life". She has acknowledged that the recent coup d'etat is likely to lead to an "increase of Grimm activity" but says she would send the Huntsmen to protect the villages "regardless". Experts claim that this is an excuse to remove hostile (to her regime) elements from where they could attempt to hinder her claim on power. The Shade Academy, who have not yet designated a new Headmaster, have responded that they "will, of course, obey the will of their Emperor".

The Rising Heat:

The Great Emperor fixes the mistakes of the last administration by immediately offering "protect[ion]" to the villages outside of the city walls

Yang de Ultimus, our new and grand Emperor, has shown her care for her subjects as she has directed all off-duty Huntsmen to immediately go to "all corners of [the Unholy Ultimus Empire] to protect [us] from the menace of Grimm that seeks to destroy our very way of life". Specifically she ordered an "immediate and top-priority focus" to be directed at "the villages outside of the walls of the Empire". The Shade Academy "will, of course, obey the will of their Emperor" as is only the proper response to such acts of kindness to the people.

Just Vacuo News:

The Emperor diverts most of Huntsmen to the villages for "protection". Critics claim it is a bad move

One of the first acts by the new Emperor was to divert a significant, but unspecified beyond "all off-duty", Huntsmen force to go and secure the villages outside of the city walls against Grimm. Political critics claim this is a way for the Emperor to solidate her total control, while other critics claim that this will leave the central Empire weaker as there may not be Huntsmen to respond to powerful criminals. Just Vacuo News has contacted the Emperor who had responded with "The Empire is protected by my army of Minions, and should any such treat arise that the police or my Minions can't deal with, I will take care of it personally".

There have been sightings of the Emperor's minions, and they are suspected to be the ones to carry out the assassination of the Council Members. They are small (height of about a small child) goblin like creatures with big yellow eyes, sharp teeth, and long pointy ears. There have been sightings of brown and red variants of these creatures.

The Times of Vacuo:

The Emperor confirms fears of Martial Law, drastic change of laws and constitution of Vacuo

In the first conference since the Young Emperor took power, the Emperor confirmed that the "Supreme and only Authority" authority part of her successful insurgency speech meant that she was establishing Martial Law, and that her "will is supreme". She also announced that she will be changing the laws of "her new Empire" as well as giving it a "new constitution".

The Rising Heat:

The Emperor reaffirms that her word is law

In the first public conference since the change in government, the Great Emperor, Yang de Ultimus reaffirmed that she had "Supreme and only Authority over the people of her Empire" and that the "Emperor's will is Supreme". The Great Emperor also announced upcoming changes to the laws that govern us while giving confirmation that until changed the old laws are still in effect. There was also talks of a "new constitution" which seems to be natural. A Kingdom is not fit to follow the needs of an Empire, as an Empire would not be fit to follow the needs of a Kingdom.

Just Vacuo News:

The Emperor announces upcoming changes in laws, reaffirms that the old ones are still in effect, and a new constitution.

The Emperor announced upcoming changes in laws, which is not unnatural upon a change of a government politically or forcefully, and a new constitution, something less common (although subtly tried many times) upon switch of the government. Critics and supporters of the new Emperor seemed to focus more attention on her statement about her "Supreme and only Authority over the people of her Empire" and less about more specific things, addressing them only insofar as they were related to her statement about her supreme will.

The Times of Vacuo:

The secretary of the Emperor announces that the late Headmaster's office will now serve as the office of the Young Emperor

The newly appointed secretary of the Young Emperor, Akita Tern, announced that "her Royal Highness will assume the office of the former Headmaster as her own". Seen as a power move, many see this as the Emperor flaunting her victory over Headmaster Theordore and over her control of the Huntsmen of this new Empire we now live in.

The Rising Heat:

Death-place of a Kingdom shall serve as the rule-place of an Empire

Today, The Great Emperor announced Akita Tern a young Vacuan woman as her secretary. Ms. Tern soon announced that the Emperor took over the former Headmaster's office as her own. Many find it fitting. What better place for a rule of an Empire than the death of the Kingdom before it?

Just Vacuo News:

The Emperor selects a secretary, takes over the office of the late Headmaster

In a press conference today, the Emperor announced Akita Tern, an 18 year old Vacuan woman, as her secretary. In the same press conference the newly appointed secretary clarified as to where the Emperor would have her office. The office will be the one the late Headmaster had used. The new Headmaster is not yet announced.

The Times of Vacuo:

Silence from the Great Kingdoms. Does this signal the Second Great War?

It's been a day since the Young Emperor annexed Vacuo, and the Great Kingdoms have not commented on the delicate situation despite international pressure from news agencies. Experts tell The Times of Vacuo that this signals collapsing relations between the Emperor's Empire and the Great Kingdoms, and that the Kingdoms might be secretly preparing for war. Our sources in Kingdoms of Mistral, Vale, and Atlas were not able to independently verify these claims.

The Rising Heat:

OP-ED: Despite fear mongering, no sign of another Great War

The Times of Vacuo has recently published an article claiming that were are heading towards "the Second Great War". While fanciful claims were plentiful, we have yet to see any evidence of anything substantial presented in their article, which reads more as an Op-ed, other than opinions aplenty. While, indeed, it is possible that the Emperor will lead us (by command or unwillingly) to war, a day of rule is just far to early to draw any conclusions.

Just Vacuo News:

Allegations of war are dangerous and horribly misleading

Recently our colleagues at The Vacuo Times published a lengthy piece about the Empire's path to the Great War with the other Kingdoms due to collapsing relationships between the nations. That is outright false, and the newspaper should be ashamed. There is no evidence of worsening relationships. In fact, there is evidence that they have not. The trade keeps flowing between the nations, and while the trade amount has lessened due to uncertainty of the market following the forceful change of Vacuo's government, neither side has canceled any trade deals, nor have consumers been restricted in imports or exports. What is in all likelihood just the Kingdoms preparing a politically fitting response is viewed by The Vacuo Times as a sign of war, which is both unfounded and deeply concerning accusation.

The Vacuo Times:

Despite the fears from the upper class of riots and possible civil war, the Emperor has maintained a stable rule

The intellectuals have been, in secret, fearing emergence of riots as soon as the Young Emperor announced her rule. In the two days that followed, it's been calm, with both the citizens and the protection sector (comprised of Huntsmen and Police) seemingly having chosen to show loyalty to our Young Emperor. Despite predictions (some made by the Emperor herself) there wasn't any real increase in Grimm activity likely due to the continued, if possibly fragile, stability the Young Emperor managed to maintain.

The Rising Heat:

OP-ED: The worries about possible riots comes from outsiders who have no place here.

Those who worry about possible riots show clear lack of understanding of Vacuo's culture, and a disgusting lack of any attempt to integrate. Those people have no place in our society, and the Emperor should cast them away. The culture of Vacuo is deep and wide, but very well reflected by this one saying Huntsmen outsiders have come up with. "There's really only one unspoken rule in Vacuo – if you can survive here, then you are welcome here." It goes deeper than that, however. We, the people of Vacuo (both those born here and those who have managed to integrate), and now the people of the Emperor's Empire, we respect strength. That is the lifeblood of our way of life. Even the most liberal elements of our society understand it, such as The Times of Vacuo, and while they are deeply unhappy with what occurred, they recognize and respect the strength of the Emperor and her authority, even if they criticize what that authority could mean. The Emperor attacked and destroyed the previous order, including the strongest Headmaster in the current times. We respect that. Only an outsider would see a riot from this.

Just Vacuo News:

OP-ED: As once an outsider, allow me to present a different argument for Emperor's stability

I was not born in Vacuo. I am from Atlas, the land of our enemy from the Great War. I came here, I integrated, and I am accepted by the people here. Yet, where some would see stability through respect, I'd like to offer a different point of view. I believe great many are frightened by the Emperor whether they be an outsider or a true citizen of this land. The rise of our Emperor was done in display of overwhelming power. With a single stroke, she painted herself as a giant and us as ants. With her naming scheme she announced her supposedly evil path. All this breeds fear, and I believe many kneel not out of respect or genuine loyalty, but out of fright. It remains to be seen what role the Huntsmen play in this. What loyalty drives their heart truly?
