Just a short drabbleish ficlet I wrote, the almost unwritten Kyouya/Kaoru! This was actually the scene that sparked the idea of the pairing. I was watching it and then the lightbulb went off... hey, they're kinda... alike. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who likes this pairing! It's kinda... unorthodox, so to speak, but... they are very similar. The Difference by Chrysalight is another GREAT Kyouya/Kaoru, so go read it if you want to expand on this paring, or want a good fic and twin philosophies.
Schemers and Plotters
They were both schemers and plotters. It was just that Kaoru preferred having a partner in crime and dropping false clues, while Kyouya opted for working solo and giving vague hints.
"You don't think this might lead to Hikaru falling in love?" Kyouya had asked him as they watched from the floor above. Below them were the rest, specifically Hikaru and Haruhi, and though it was a bittersweet thought, Kaoru was not dismayed.
"No, Hikaru's too much of an idiot to fall in love," he answered easily.
"And you?" his glasses blinded him with pinpoint preciseness.
Kaouru grinned softly and gave Kyouya a sidelong glance before shrugging and turning his back on him.
"I've always been smarter than my brother."
Kyouya chuckled softly and passed Kaoru, heading downstairs to join the rest and Kaoru had watched him with a sort of wistful look. Yes, he'd always been smarter than his brother when it came to matters of emotions, and that meant he was not only smart enough to fall in love, but also to realize its pains. Scheming and plotting might just help him overcome them, though.
I've been writing a lot of odd pairings lately, but they're interesting, aren't they?
