Right before the world wide lockdown, Julie and the Phantoms played the orpheum. They were at the top of their game, until Julie told them the truth. The night before the orpheum she told them that her mom died of a health issue, which was in no way the truth. Sure she did it to protect them, but she also did it because of the promise she made to her twin sister before she moved.

It was weird. Julie had been fine for years with the idea of someday having children. Then the band had lots of free time lined-up ahead and Luke had brought it up, and suddenly she couldn't wait a second more. / Help, I watched too many birth vlogs and now we have a Juke pregnancy fic from start to finish.

They could be erased from existence or brought back to life in the next 24h. So Julie retires to her room with Luke, to soak in each other's presence for what could be the last time. Only neither of them is emotionally stable to keep up with their unspoken rule of not speaking out their feelings, and close is never close enough when she's about to potentially lose her soulmate.
