And we are now into Season 2. And, I'm making a lot of changes as I go along, but for the most part, I'm happy with where the story is headed. Hope you are enjoying it.
Capty Fanfic: Well, for season 1, I wanted to stay pretty close to the events, but now with season 2, I'm still not sure how far I'm gonna stray from the story. I'm tossing a loben t of ideas onto the ceiling, and seeing what sticks. Season 2 is going to have more filler chapters though. I feel like there is more opportunity to explain, maybe expand some things for MY story. Again, I'm trying to see what sticks. Hope you are enjoying so far.
Laura: For now, my main ship is DariusxBrooklynn. With Darius being 16, and I already wrote that he sort of liked her, I may write them bantering back and forth, but maybe have Brooklynn oblivious. That's what happened with me and this girl I liked. Either she knew I liked her, or was oblivious, because we used to go back and forth all the time. She could banter like it was nothing.
Lightningscar: Okay, I am so sorry. This is what I should have done earlier. I'm retconing my story. I know I'm not going to want to change my story so far into it.
Ben is 13-14.
Brooklynn is 14-15
Sammy and Yasmina are 15
Darius and Kenii are both 16. Darius is the oldest by a few months, and slightly taller than Kenji.
Anyways, stay home, stay safe.
Darius was the first to wake up. He had been drifting off and on in sleep last night. He was met with a nice sunrise to look at. He let the others sleep and was trying to formulate a plan. Darius heard someone else getting up on the other side of the tree. He leaned far enough to see who it was. It was Yasmina. "Hey." she greeted him.
He nodded at her. "How'd you sleep?"
Yas groaned. "Not bad for sleeping in a tree. You?"
"I was drifting in and out of sleep. I think it's finally sinking in that I'm the leader of the group. I didn't take it seriously in the beginning because of Kenji's attitude, but I realize now that everything I do matters." Darius explains.
Yasmina nods. "Well, just remember that you're not doing this by yourself. And do NOT expect me to coddle your feelings."
Darius smiles at her. "I would be ashamed if YOU of all people did. How about some tough love?"
"Deal." A few more minutes pass and then Darius decides it's time to wake everyone else up.
"Wanna wake up the girls? I'll deal with Kenji?" Darius suggests.
"I've got this." Yasmina says. Darius turns towards Kenji to nudge him when, "WAKE UP!" Kenji, Sammy and Brooklynn jolt awake at the sudden noise. Darius fell off the branch he was sitting on, and landed on the ground with a thud. The fall was about 15 feet, so it wasn't a so hard of a fall but it still knocked the wind out of him. Yasmina was laughing so hard at what happened. "Darius, are you okay?" she had a hard time asking between her laughter. The other campers couldn't believe she was laughing after making someone fall. Darius slowly raised his hand, and everyone could see that he was giving her the finger. "Yeah, he's okay." Yasmina climbed down still giggling.
Darius had gotten up in time to help her get on the ground without hurting her ankle too much. "What the hell? You said you were waking up the girls."
"I also said 'I got this'." Yas points out.
Darius rolls his eyes. "Oh, so from now on, when you say, 'I got this' you REALLY mean 'I'm bout to scream bloody murder.' Good to know." Once everyone was on the ground, he looks at Kenji. "You're the only one who has a watch. What time is it?"
"Uh, it's 6:15." Kenji answers after a second.
"Alright. We have less than 12 hours of sunlight to figure something out." Darius says, thinking out loud. "Main Street is our best bet to grab supplies, possibly hole up for help. The only problem is getting there. Let's go back and check the docks."
As they head back, Brooklynn asks, "What are you hoping to find?"
"It might be a bit of a stretch, but a car." Darius answers her. "We need to get to main street, and we need to get there fast. We need food, and other things if we want to hold out long enough for help to arrive."
The teens made it past the trees and looked at the dock. The area was littered garbage. After searching for a few minutes, they found nothing. "Wouldn't there be at least ONE car?" Sammy asks.
Darius comes to a realization. "Everyone was probably evacuated to the docks the same way WE attempted to get here. The monorail. The workers either went with them, or had their own way of getting off the island."
"So, what are our options now?" Brooklynn asks.
"We can't stay here." Darius explains. "The only other option is to walk to Main Street. That will be a day, 2 tops. Remember how long it took us just to get to Wu's lab?"
Sammy points out, "But, Yasmina is still hurting."
Yas just shrugs it off. "I'm highly motivated. What we SHOULD be worrying about is the Indominus. That freak of nature is still out there."
"Well, does anyone else have a better option? I don't." Kenji joins in.
Darius sighs. "Kenji, what time is it?"
Kenji quickly looks at his wrist. "It's almost 6:45."
Darius nods. "Look, if we leave now, and move at a steady pace, with little breaks, we might be able to make it by tomorrow afternoon. But still be on the lookout for some sort of vehicle. Apparently, people just leave them in the middle of the jungle."
With that, the 5 former campers head to the main park. A few hours of walking had gone by, and by noon, they were starting to get hungry. But there wasn't any food to be found. Ben's fanny pack was out of food to eat. "I'm sorry." Sammy says. "But I need SOMEthing to get me through."
Darius shakes his head. "I know. I'm hungry too. But, just think about getting to Main Street. We'll have plenty to eat tomorrow." Darius had put Kenji in charge of letting them know when it was 4:30. So, after more walking, Kenji gave the alert. "Alright. We have two options. One, we stop walking and find a tree to hole up in, or we keep walking for another half hour and risk finding a tree in the dark."
Brooklynn says, "The Indominus was a pain in the ass running away from her in broad daylight. If she is near this area, I don't want to risk facing her in the dark."
Everyone else agreed with her. "Alright. Well then, lets find a tree." The trees deep in the forest were taller and bigger. It took them almost a half hour of finding a tree that everyone felt comfortable sleeping in.
Brooklynn and Kenji climbed up first to help Sammy and Yasmina up. Once everyone else was off the ground, Darius climbed up. What was great about the tree they found was that it actually started growing into another tree, so they could all face each other while sleeping instead of them facing the opposite directions. Once everyone was settled, they had a chance to enjoy the sunset.
"Ya know, this place is pretty without the fear of death." Sammy says, with her usual optimist.
Kenji takes this as an opportunity to try and brag. "My mansion has an amazing view from all angles. Clear view of everything for miles around. No trees blocking the view. Yeah, it's pretty sweet."
Everyone rolls their eyes. Darius speaks up. "I've got first watch tonight. I made the mistake of not having someone keep watch last night." Yasmina volunteers for the second shift. "I'll wake you up in 6 hours then. Kenji, can I have your watch?"
As Kenji gives Darius the watch, Brooklynn asks, "Why are you doing 6 hour shifts?"
"I'm not sure about Yasmina, but I'm used to running on 6-7 hours of sleep. You get used to staying late for practice and late nights for homework." Darius answers.
Yasmina agrees. "Track is basically the same thing for me when I was signed with Jurassic World." With nothing else left to discuss, the teens get settled and start to fall asleep. Kenji fell first, then Sammy, Brooklynn, then Yas. Just before Yas fell asleep, she talks to Darius. "Not bad for your first day. By tomorrow though, we ARE going to need some food. I don't think I can handle another day of Kenji complaining."
Darius nods. "From where we are on the map, and if we travel the exact same pace we did we should make it there before noon. How's your ankle?"
"It feels fine." Yasmina says. "I'm able to keep up. And your head?"
"I've got a little bit of a headache, but I can't tell if it's the hit, or Kenji." Darius jokes. "When we get to Main Street, we should stay there for a day or 2. Resupply, then come up with a plan to call for help. Get some rest. It's gonna be a long night."
Darius lied. He wasn't going to wake up Yasmina in 6 hours. With her being the most injured, she needed to rest. As they got closer to Main Street, they were getting closer to the Rex Paddock. He wasn't sure if the fences were down, but he knew that if the Indominus was near, the Rex would be the only thing to challenge her. He looked at the watch on his wrist, and saw that it was close to 11 pm. As leader, he needed to be well rested in order to lead. So he decided to let his eyes fall asleep, and rest. He silently prayed that nothing would eat them.
He woke up first again. He looked at the watch he had on, and it said 6 am. But it's not like Darius needed to know. It didn't matter when or how Darius fell asleep. His body had gotten used to waking up at 6. This time, he wakes up Kenji first, then Sammy and Brooklynn. They woke up Yasmina last. They didn't want a repeat of yesterday.
Yasmina knew right away that Darius had lied. She would confront him about it later. Right now, they needed to keep moving. After a few hours of walking, Kenji started complaining. "I'm getting hungry. And I need something to drink."
"We just have to get to main street. We'll be eating and drinking pretty soon." Darius assured him.
They finally found their first dinosuars a little while later. It was a heard of Sinoceratops. "Do you think that Beatrice is with them?" Sammy asked suddenly.
"Who?" Yas looked at her with a confused look.
"The Sino that helped get Darius and Brooklynn out of the mud." Sammy clarifies.
Kenji asks, "You NAMED the dinosaur?"
"Ben did." Sammy says. Darius slightly twitches, and Yasmina notices. That would be another thing that she would talk to him about. The mood was suddenly different. But at least no one was complaining.
The five teens had managed to make their way through the herd without disturbing them. After putting some distance between them and the animals, they all felt the ground shake slightly. They were at first confused. "What happened?" Sammy asked.
The teens hear a T-Rex roar. "RUN!" Darius tells them.
As they do, Kenji asks, "Why are we running?!"
Brooklynn shoots at him, "Because it's a T-Rex!"
"And we just passed it's breakfast!" Yasmina continues the point.
After some running, the ground got more and more shaky. Darius turns around, and thinks that the Rex had caught up with them, but nope. It was worse. The Sino herd was catching up with them. It was quickly gaining. The herd had caught up with them, and Darius didn't like that. The animals were much faster than them, and a predator will go after the weakest link. The teens needed to seperate from the herd, but that was risky. They could potentially get eaten.
"Are there still Sinos behind us?!" Darius asks anyone.
Kenji looked behind and saw the T-Rex come out of nowhere and grab onto one of the Sinos in the back. "Not anymore!" he informs them. Darius lead them to a fallen tree, and the teens hid behind. They all heard the Sino struggle to defend itself. Inevitably, the Rex won.
Once the Rex was done dragging her food away, Kenji took the time to vent. "Why is the Rex out of it's paddock?"
Brooklynn says sarcastically, "It's either your boyish charm, or all the fences on the Island are down."
"No offense Kenji, but it's defiantly the fences." Sammy says. "I can't keep going like this. I need something to eat."
Yasmina sighs. "At this point, I'll just take a sandwich. We haven't eaten anything since Ben-" She slipped. She even made a mental note to not mention Ben until she talked to Darius. The others looked at the teen in question, and noticed that he had his fist closed and near his body. A few seconds later, the teens heard more dinosaurs roaring. Everyone sighed as that meant they had to be prepared for more running.
Darius gets up and urges that they needed to keep moving. After a few more minutes of of sitting, the kids hear another roar from the Rex. They groan as that means more running later. After getting up slowly, the teens start walking again. They had to deal with Kenji moaning for almost another half hour.
"I'm hot. I'm thirsty. And I'm tired of walking." the rich teen moaned.
Darius had almost had enough until he saw a sign. No, really. A literal sign. MAIN STREET - "Well Kenji, looks like all that complaining paid off!" The other teens look where Darius was pointing, and see the sign as well. They rush in the direction of the arrow, and finally make it to main street. The only problem was that it looked destroyed. There was building debris everywhere. The teens scattered the area to look at everything.
"What the hell happened here?" Yasmina asked out loud.
"My guess? Dinosaurs." Brooklynn responds.
Darius was analyzing the area. Looking at everything, trying to notice all the details and where everything was. "Not JUST dinosaurs. This doesn't look like a rampage. It looks more like a fight. The Rex, and something bigger?"
"The Indominus." Brooklynn said. Darius went over to where she was and saw that the gate blocking the Lagoon was smashed. Inside the pool, some remains of the Indominus had settled on the bottom of the pool. "Looks like we don't have to worry about her anymore."
"Guys!" Sammy shouted. "You have to see this!"
Everyone raced in the direction of the voice, and saw Sammy looking at a cardboard cutout of Brooklynn advertising the iPhone 6S that came out a few months ago. Behind the cutout, there was a whole shelf full of chargers for said phone and other phones.
After staring at the sight for a minute, the teens got a good chuckle out of it. "I forgot I agreed to do that." Brooklynn says with a smile.
Darius decided to poke fun at her. "Do you only have one outfit?"
"It's my signature look, okay?" Brooklynn defends herself.
Kenji suddenly appears in front of her and kneels down, holding one of the chargers. "Please! Autograph my phone charger, O queen of the Brooklanders!" He cracks himself up, and Darius can't help but chuckle at the sight. Brooklynn just looks at him with a deadpanned look and puts a hand on his head, and shoves him into the ground. Yasmina smiles at the sight of Darius laughing. It meant that for now, he was distracted and wasn't placing blame on himself.
"Alright guys. We need supplies." Darius says after the laughter died down. "Start looking for food, water, and bathroom essentials. The nights here are cold, so maybe find some coats."
They split up into 2 teens. Darius and Kenji would search for the food (We seem to have a knack for that sort of thing), and the girls would search for the bathroom supplies (Y'all seem to have a knack for THAT sort of thing). They would all meet back near the lagoon come sunset, so they all had to watch the time and the sky. After a few minutes of searching, Darius and Kenji found the restaurants. The food looked and smelled old, but that was because it was already out. The birds must have attacked main street. There was food on the ground and shattered plates.
"Hey." Kenji asked, "Why are we searching for supplies? Shouldn't we be finding a way to call for help? A phone maybe in the lost and found?"
Darius nodded. "I thought of that. But remember when Brooklynn tried using the landline in Wu's lab? 'No dial tone' is what Brooklynn said, meaning the grid is down. If the grid is down, no cell service. Besides, I'm sure that Dave and Roxie got on the boats. And knowing Roxie, I think that we can expect help to arrive soon. It may take awhile, but we can do it."
Darius and Kenji find a bunch of backpacks and start filling them up with food, going resturaunt After some more searching in silence, Kenji starts talking again. "So, football huh? Must have been pretty popular with the chicks."
Darius smiles at this. "I didn't really have time for that sort of thing." he says. Not totally untruthful. He was busy taking care of his mom, and when his mom died, he didn't want any sympathy dates.
"Oh come on." Kenji says, not accepting the answer. "If I was you, I would have made time." Kenji looks straight at him. "Are you SURE there was no one?"
Darius rolls his eyes, a smile forming on his face. "Okay, there was ONE girl. It was only for a few months though. Summer fling basically. You?"
Kenji grins ear to ear. "When you are as rich as I am, it's pretty easy to get the chicks to fall for you."
"And it's hard to find a girl that likes for something besides money?" Darius asks.
"Who said anything about just one?" Kenji asks proudly.
Darius sighs. "You're one of THOSE guys."
"Hey," Kenji defends himself, "I let them down easy. But even THAT is too hard for them." Kenji then gets a thought. "You know, getting stuck on an Island is a great way to form romance."
"How the hell is ANYone supposed to find romance in a dangerous situation?" Darius asks.
"Well what else is there to do?" Kenji asks in a very monotone.
Darius looks at him dead in the eyes. "SURVIVE for ONE thing." Darius and Kenji walk into another restaurant.
"So, there is not ONE girl here that you haven't thought about?" Kenji asks him.
Darius knows what Kenji is trying to do. He's had a couple of other guys do the same thing to him. "Again, not really important at the moment."
"So you haven't taken the time to check out Brooklynn or Yas?" Kenji asks.
Darius doesn't even know what the hell is happening right now. "What about them?"
"Well, Brooklynn is the youngest among us now since... You know..." Kenji notices how Darius started to get a little tense. "So when you factor that in and compare her to other girls I've bee with, she is about a six. But given how we don't have a lot of other girls to chose from, she automatically gets a nine. Yas is about a 7."
"You seriously base the girls you would go out with on a scale of one to ten?" Darius asks him. He eventually blocks out Kenji's talking as he goes on about how a guy like him has standards. Eventually, after checking all the restaurants, the teens all meet up at near the Lagoon at about the same time.
Yas notices that they had 2 backpacks full, with Darius carrying another 2 handbags. "I take it you guys had a nice haul?"
Darius explains, "It's basically canned fruit, a can opener, water, and a handful of beef jerky packs. There is still so much that we couldn't take. I'm thinking we should just stay on Main Street." He nods to the bags Brooklynn and Sammy were carrying. "And you?"
"We found a bunch of TP." Brooklynn says. "We grabbed as much as we could shove in the bags because they were so light."
"And some VERY stylish hoodies from the giftshop." Sammy announces proudly, wearing a red hoodie with the Jurassic World logo on the front. Brooklynn picked out pink, Yasmina got grey, Kenji was given a blue hoodie, and Darius was given a yellow hoodie.
Darius took one look at it. "Yellow? Really?"
Brooklynn smiled at him. "That's what you get for asking if I only had one outfit."
Darius rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Sammy, where is the giftshop? I need to make an exchange."
Sammy smiles at him. "Sorry. I'm with Brooklynn on this one."
Darius's jaw drops a little. He didn't do anything to Sammy. Did he? Darius turns to look at Yasmina to back him up. "Yas?" The athlete smiles and shakes her head. "Whatever. I'll take the ugliest color in the world over being cold." Everyone else had put on their hoodies, so Darius did the same.
As he was, Sammy asked, "Where are we spending the night?"
"Not another tree." Kenji says. "My back was not built for bark."
Darius looks at the map, and says to the group, "Let's head to the hotel. It's going to get dark soon. We get to the hotel, hopefully find a room that's open, and get some rest."
"I'll take first watch tonight." Yasmina says before he could get to that part.
Darius nods. The group heads over the the hotel, which was a short walk away, and get into the main lobby. Kenji, Yasmina, and Sammy sit down as Darius and Brooklynn search for a key card to the rooms. Darius saw a section of keys say suits. Perfect. Girls could sleep on the bed, and me and Kenji could get the pullout couch.
Darius went to open the glass door to it, but when he pulled, he felt that it was locked. Brooklynn looked at him and was about to get her bobby pin when Darius picked up the landline box and all, and chucks it at the glass. It breaks, and Brooklynn flinches back at the sudden sound. Noticing this, he says, "Sorry. I needed that."
"Yeah, no. Go right ahead." Brooklynn nods. "Who cares at this point, right?"
Darius smiles a little. He looks at the numbers, and grabs one of the key cards. They head up to the top floors and by the time they got up, they were VERY tired. The teens find the room number, and prayed that the door still worked. It didn't. But Darius wasn't willing to give up that easy. They were going to spend the night in a bed.
The teen looked around, and saw at the end of the hall, an axe. It was in thicker glass, but Darius took the fire hydrant that was easier to grab, and hits the glass protecting the axe. After a few tries, it finally breaks. Taking the axe, Darius swings the head into the door. two more hits, and the door was open.
Everyone pilled into the room, and were amazed at how fancy the room looked. Well, everyone except Kenji. "You should see my room in the pent house." Kenji starts to gloat. "It's WAY more luxuries than any room in the hotel."
"Who cares?" Yasmina says. "I'm just happy to sleep on a bed tonight."
Darius looked at the clock. It read 5:30, so the sun was going to set in a few minutes. He wanted to make sure that everyone was settled. "Alright, girls, you guys get the bed in the room, Me and Kenji will take the pullout couch." Darius moves to give the watch over to Yas.
"Um, are you sure that's the BEST idea?" Sammy asks. "I feel a little safer knowing that we are all at least in ear shot of each other."
Brooklynn shares her opinion. "I agree with Sammy on this one. Safety in numbers, yeah?"
Everyone started nodding. Darius wanted to insist that they do things his way, but that wouldn't make things easier. "Alright. Kenji and I will sleep on the floor. Grab the pillows, through them on the floor."
The kids make their way to the room, and set up the sleeping for the boys. The kids didn't want the blankets on them in case they needed to quickly escape. The hoodies would keep them warm enough.
Darius didn't like the idea of sleeping with his head on the ground. Even though Yas took the first watch, he wanted to at least be sitting up so that way he could easily be able to help if something happened. He sighed as he sat down, happy to be able to rest.
A few minutes later, he felt someone sit next to him. "Can you tell me about your mom?" Darius opened his eyes to see Brooklynn next to him.
Darius doesn't know why, but suddenly he lets his guard down, and lets someone in for the first time in a while. "She was amazing. She wasn't much of a cook, but DAMN did she know a lot. And not just about dinosaurs. She was kind, and caring. She took care of me and brother the best she could. Why do you ask?"
Darius turned to where Brooklynn was sitting. "So you don't forget me." Darius saw his mom, and gasped. His mom's hospital bed was in the corner of the room.
The teen got up, and the hotel was replaced with his mom's hospital room. He went to the side of the bed. "Why didn't you do more?" her voice asked. "Why did you give up? You let me go."
Darius holds on tight to her hand, and tries to defend himself. "No. I tried my best, I NEVER gave up."
When he looked up to face his mother's face, he saw Ben, and he was back on the train again.
"Why do you lie to yourself?!" Ben yells at him. Darius tries to pull him up, but drops him again. The Pteranodons screech and race to grab the falling human.
"You LIE to yourself!" Darius turned around to see Kenji. "You think you have a chance with her? Now that she knows that you will drop someone when they need you most?" Kenji turned around to walk away from him with Brooklynn in his arm. She turns to look back at him with disgust.
That look cut Darius so much. The world started crumbling, with all the events in his life coming down on him, with his mother's death leading the charge. The weight hits him like a MAC truck, and the world goes dark.
Darius open's his eyes as he sees Yasmina trying to shake him awake. He silently gasps as the world suddenly quiets down. The scared teen wipes some of the tears in his eyes with his sleeve. Darius notices that the sun was gone, with the moon taking it's place.
"Hey, you okay?" Yasmina's voice fills his head.
The world slowly returns to normal. Darius nods a bit before finally speaking. "I'm good. That shit was scary." He takes a few more minutes to catch his breath.
"Want to talk about it?" she asks, knowing that he is trying to shove his feelings away. Darius shakes his head. He let down his guard in the dream. He didn't want to experiance that shit again if this wasn't reality.
"Sorry I fell asleep so fast." Darius says.
"I took the first shift remember?" Yas smiles a bit at him. "You need the rest if you want to be affective in leading."
Darius again nods at this. "What time is it?"
"Your shift begins in an hour and a half. You should try going back to sleep." Yasmina informs him. Darius nods again. "Listen." Yas starts to get stern with him. "I don't know what you were dreaming about, but I need you to find a way to deal with it. Not shove it down, but actually deal with it. Otherwise it will affect you mentally tomorrow. We need you level headed." She was starting to give him some of that tough love he was needing. "So if you don't want to talk, then do something to let out the stress. What do you usually do?"
Darius has a thought in mind. A few minutes later, the two teens were outside. They had left a note on the TV stand saying they went outside in case the others woke up. The football teen had found a bunch of rocks and had started throwing them at anything and everything. "This is relaxing for you?" Yasmina asked. When the rocks hit anything, they made a sound that annoyed her.
"Not the sound, but the throwing." Darius explains as he threw another rock. "Knowing that I can hit the target helps me to focus. It's what I used to do back home." The rock had hit dead center on a fallen Jurassic World logo sign. There wasn't a whole lot of talking, but after a half hour, Darius started to feel a little better. "In my dream, I saw Ben." Yas looks over at him. "He told me that I had let him go. And then I saw Kenji, who told me that I let people go when they need me the most."
"Well, it's not your fault." Yasmina says.
Darius interrupts her. "I told him to risk his life." He looks straight at her. "I took advantage of the fact that he was the smallest. I traded his life for ours."
"He made that choice." Yas says, realizing she needed to give tough love again. "You may have asked him to risk his life, but he made his choice. I know that it doesn't make it better, but you didn't force him to do anything. He made his choice. We have to learn to live with it."
Darius listens to every word she says. He nods in understanding. Her tough love actually helps. He wasn't expecting it to work so well, but it does. It helps him to come to terms with what happened. But he's not going to ask the others to risk their lives when something dangerous is happening. From now on, HE would be the one to take the risks. If it meant everyone else got home safely, then so be it. Darius looks up at Yasmina. "Thanks. That helped a lot."
The two teens head back to the hotel and switch shifts. Since Darius wasn't going to be able to sleep again anyways, Yasmina decided to get some rest. Darius got the watch, and started waiting for the sun to rise.
Alright. There we go. I'm doing longer chapters so I can flesh out more things.
Guest: I really liked Mitch and Tiff as bad guys, and E750 was AWESOME, so I am going to do my best to add them into the mix, but also make it more of my own.
Hope you all are still enjoying. If you have any thoughts, please let me know, and I will do my best to add or change something. Have a good day. Stay home, stay safe.
