Another one. Sorry it took me a while. I took a break to rewatch season three. Gotta burn it into memory.

Guest: Glad you like the story! Also, there are two great stories on Wattpad. The Best of Both by spankypenguin14, and Camp Cretaceous: the car guy at camp by idkwhattoname77. Both stories are amazing, specifically The Best of Both. Oh, and I LOVED the Dominion trailer. John Hammond's voice at the beginning was a nice touch. And we FINALLY got the dynamic trio back in action!

Hope you guys are having a good day, staying home, and staying safe.

Darius was shaken awake. He groaned, and opened his eyes. It was daylight. He wondered if he only slept for an hour. He looked up, and saw Brooklynn. "What time is it?" he asked her.

"It's eight o'clock in the morning." she told him.

His eyes widened. "What the hell? I left a note." He sat up, but his arm was starting to hurt.

"We all agreed that you've been working too hard. You of all people needed the rest." Sammy told him. Yaz nodded in agreement.

Darius looked over at Ben. "I tried to tell them, but I was outvoted." Ben said.

Darius sighed. He stood up, and stretched his arm. "Gahhuh." Darius put it down quickly, and started clutching it.

"What's wrong?" Kenji asked, concerned.

That's when Brooklynn noticed his sleeve. "How long have you been bleeding?" She rolled up the sleeve, and saw a nasty cut. "When did this happen?" she asked him.

"Mitch. When you ran him over, the bullet grazed off my arm." Darius explained. "I thought I could just sleep it off."

Brooklynn groaned, and went to find the alcohol bottles. "What is it with boys trying to toughen through their injuries?" Yaz asked out loud. Kenji coughed in her direction, and she immediately knew what he was talking about.

Brooklynn sat down on the couch next to him with the alcohol and a cloth. "Take your shirt off." she told him. Darius looked at her. "You want me to cut the sleeve off and ruin a perfectly good shirt? Take it off." He sighed and did as he was told. As he took off his shirt, Brooklynn started having flashbacks of when they ran into each other in the hall two months ago. She silently scolded herself, and started to feel around the area that was scratched. "There is no exit hole. Do you feel any pain? Any grinding?" He groaned, and shook his head. Brooklynn knew he was telling her the truth. He would have been screaming his head off if he felt any grinding in his arm. Brooklynn poured some of the Vodka on the cloth. She pressed the cloth on his arm, and he started groaning some more. "Sorry. But if I don't clean it now, the infection is going to get worse later." He nods, and groans softly. Brooklynn was trying very hard to not stare at him. Still, she couldn't help but look at his torso.

Kenji asked, "Dude, how the hell did you get so ripped?"

"Practice and the gym after school." Darius said.

"I need to join the football team." Ben said. Darius laughs a little. "What would you recommend Darius?"

Darius inspects Ben a little bit as Brooklynn started to bandage up his arm. "It's too early to tell, but for you, I would recommend Half-Back. You're small, but I would imagine fast after all that time in the jungle. But if you get taller than 5' 10", I would recommend either Wide Receiver or Cornerback." Brooklynn cut the bandage, and finished up.

"Alright. You're done." Brooklynn told him.

Darius put his shirt on. "Thanks." Then he got a thought. "Where did you learn to do that?"

"Before some of my more dangerous videos, my sponsors made me take like a million first aid courses." Brooklynn explained.

Darius nodded. "Alright. Well, you are now our official doctor."

Sammy got excited. "I can be her assistant! Mama taught me everything I know about taking care of the cattle. I can apply that here."

Darius agreed. After a minute of silence, he said, "Listen. I should have told you guys earlier, but after what happened with Mitch and Tiff yesterday, I think I should tell you." Everyone looks in his direction. Finally, he sighs, and says, "I don't think anyone is coming. I put false hope before you guys because I wanted to be wrong. It's been almost two months, right? The odds of anyone surviving that long on a dinosaur island is amazingly low. We cannot expect any rescue to come." The campers started to deflate, but Darius continued, "It's time for us to make our own escape." This get's everyone's attention back. "We have to be the luckiest kids alive to have either escaped death, or find a way to cheat it." Darius pointed to Ben, making him a symbol for them. "I don't want to just do nothing and wait for no one. I want to get home or go out trying. If any of you feel that way in the slightest, step forward, because if we do this, we have to be all in." Not a second later, everyone moved towards him.

"We're with you Darius." Yaz told him.

Darius smiled. "Alright." He got up, and went over to the chalk board. He looked at it for one second, and noticed that he was about to erase their only way of keeping track of time. But the thought of getting home outweighed his guilt. Once it was clear, he wrote a new title above. ESCAPE PLAN IDEAS. He looked at the group. "Anybody have any bright ideas?"

Ben says, "Isla Nublar is about one hundred twenty miles west of Costa Rica. What ever we do, we need to remember that we are headed east."

Darius wrote that on the board. Sammy spoke up and said, "Not to put her on the spot, but Brooklynn might be able to help with building a boat."

Darius looks at Brooklynn. "Really?"

Brooklynn hesitates. "I was unboxing Cast Away. It was one of my earlier videos. I remember a little bit. But I'm not so confident that it would work."

Darius nods, and writes RAFT on one of the ideas. "We're not deciding anything yet. We are just brainstorming. We'll save that idea though."

After a little bit of debating, they had come to the conclusion that a raft, for the time being, would be the best option. They would keep the board open to suggestions if someone suddenly had an idea.

With this new sense of purpose, the teens started getting to it. Brooklynn told them that they first had to worry about building the raft. They were currently on the beach with one of the gyrospheres. Darius wasn't too sure about this. But, it was a few days ago when he said they were going to find their own way off. Now he had to follow his own advice. Gotta be all in.

Darius was sitting in the gyro on the shore line. He was going to attempt to drive the gyro on the water. As a safety measure, rope was attached to the gyro, with Bumpy at the ready to pull Darius back up. Brooklynn gave Darius the thumbs up, and he started to drive slowly. He drove as far as he could, and there was no more sand for him to drive on. He drove it a little farther, and was basically using a jetski. It was actually pretty cool. He got a little farther, and that's when he could see the dropoff. It was actually pretty cool. Looked back at the others, and gave them a thumbs up. He was sure that they could see him and how good it was working.

Suddenly, he felt the gyro start to sink. He saw that the water was up halfway, and quickly engulfed the rest of the oversized hamster ball. Darius tried to drive backwards, but he was just too far. He turned around, and saw that the rope was tugging him backwards. He still did his best to go reverse, but the gyro was filling up with water fast. The gyro was halfway full when the door finally opened, and he was able to get back onto solid ground. Darius collapsed to the ground like he was Kenji.

"Oh man." he finally spoke. Everyone had rushed to his side, and made sure he was fine. "I don't think a gyrosphere is going to work."

"Maybe we just have to think more?" Sammy said, "Sometimes more is better."

They spent the rest of the week finding as many gyros as they could. They found them in what was The Valley. Needless to say, more gyros didn't work either. The six teens watched as the gyros sank to the bottom of the ocean. "Great idea Sammy." Ben said.

Sammy rolled her eyes. "Hey, we tried, and that's what matters."

"What matters is that we get home." Brooklynn said. She wasn't mad at Sammy by any means. She was just frustrated that it took them all week and it ultimately ended up failing.

Yaz started to go into Brooklynn. "At least SHE had an idea."

Darius defused the situation. "Don't you two start." He looked back at them. "Let's just chalk this up as an idea we know won't work. Any idea we have is just a suggestion until it works."

The teens started walking back to camp. Half way through the jungle, Kenji suddenly had an idea. "Hey, what if we tried building a human catapult?" Everyone turned around and looked at him like he just said Hitler was the good guy in World War II. "What? It could work."

Brooklynn said, "You do know that even if we get the catapult to work, we would have to be flung insanely high, not to mention, we would be freefalling the rest of the way down, so the minute we hit the ground, we would be dead."

"So you're saying we need to work out the kinks." Kenji said, still clinging on.

Everyone groaned at him. They all kept walking. Sammy fell back and walked with him. "I think your idea sounds fun at least." she said to him.

"Thank you Sammy." Kenji said, giving her his best grin. "And I always appreciate your optimism." They both shared a laugh. They walked in silence for a minute, before Kenji said, "You know, it's too bad we can't get into my penthouse. It would have been so cool to show you the home theater, not to mention all the-"

"Kenji, I'm going to stop you right there." Sammy looked at him. "I'll admit that I've had a small crush on you since we first got here. If anyone here is going to admit their feelings for someone here, it might as well be me. I know Brooklynn and Darius won't." Kenji looked at her. "I've dated guys like you before. Hotheaded, always bragging, thinking that it's going to impress me. Let me tell you, it's NOT impressive. You just ruin any nice quality about yourself."

"Wait, you've had a crush on me?" Kenji asked.

"Of course." Sammy said. Then she quickly backtracked. "Unless, I jumped the gun, and-"

"No." Kenji interrupted her. "I've... Had a small crush on you too."

They both smile at each other. "Right now, I just wanna focus on getting home." Sammy admits. "Before I even ask you to meet my family, I need to be sure that you won't just... You know... And move on." Kenji nods his head. He knew what she was talking about. "And a question that I want to get out of the way first. Do you have a girlfriend already? Even if she thinks you are dead."

"No." Kenji answers.

Sammy nods her head. "Okay. Look, I want this to work. I really do. I just don't want to start a relationship with someone who's a carbon copy of everyone else. And maybe it's my fault for allowing myself to like these kind of guys. So, even if I don't agree to be your girlfriend before we get home, I am willing to try to make it work if you are."

Kenji says, "Well, as long as I've got time, I'm going to do everything I can to show you that I'm not going to be another one of those guys."

Sammy smiles. "I'm counting on it." They both start running to catch up with the group.

The teens decided that they still wanted to go with the raft idea. Darius told them that they would take a break from building the raft, and start looking for material to build a sail. That meant scouting the island. Which meant that when a team of two went out, it would be at least a week before they would see each other again. And not everyone was up for that.

"What if we just all went together?" Kenji asked. He was concerned not only for his safety, but for the safety of the camp.

Darius shook his head. "We still need people to gather materials to make the boat, and gather supplies. Yaz, how long until we run out of the food we have now?"

Yasmina checked her clipboard. "We have enough food to last us for a while with the way we have been rationing."

"See?" Kenji says, thinking that Yaz is on his side.

"However," They all look back at her. "With adding a sixth person, and we are glad to have you back Ben, we're going to run out faster now. Darius is right. If we all go, we risk forgetting about the food. We need at least two people to stay behind to keep working on the raft."

Kenji sighs. "Fine. What do we do Darius?"

Darius thinks for a second. The risks getting off the island were growing. "Yaz, how's your ankle feeling?"

"Better." she answers. "A little sore, but should be fully healed in a week or two."

Darius nods. "I'm making a third scouting team. Yaz, you and Ben will be partners. He knows the jungle better than anyone. Ben, is there anywhere on the island where we might be able to find cloth?"

"I spent a lot of time on the east side of the island after the fall." Ben explains. "All of my time was spent in the jungle. I'm not going to be much help in that respect. But I would have remembered if I saw some sort of building. Other than the Raptor Paddock near here, there is nothing."

The kids sit there for a minute. "We could always try my idea." Kenji suggests.

"Do you NOT understand that even if we got it to work, you will die upon landing?" Darius said, getting a little frustrated.

Kenji sighs. "I don't see YOU coming up with any ideas." he mutters.

But everyone heard him. "What's THAT supposed to mean?" Darius asks him, confused.

Kenji looks at him. "We've come up with ideas, and YOU haven't. In fact, a lot of the times, you tend to go with someone else's plan instead of making one yourself." Darius had to admit that he was starting to make a point. He wanted to see if that was where Kenji's frustration ended. "In fact, you even said that we would go with Sammy's plan when it came to saving the dinosaurs."

"I didn't make a plan." Sammy spoke up. "I just had a thought. Darius turned it into the plan."

"That's my point." Kenji said. "He takes from everyone else, and he passes it off as his own."

"You think that I'm not an effective leader?" Darius asked.

"I'm saying that you've made choices that affect us for better or worse." Kenji said.

Brooklynn is quick to defend Darius. "Yeah, so would any of us. That's how leading works. Besides, Darius has the biggest responsibility of all of us. He's made sure that we have had something productive to do. Of course he wouldn't be able to do EVERYTHING."

Kenji is starting to get a little more frustrated. "When we were dealing with Mitch and Tiff, Darius wasn't on the hill with us. We were all supposed to scare away the dinosaurs and meet at the boat. He ran away and got Brooklynn instead."

"Um, in case you forgot, he got SHOT in the ARM." Yaz said. "Knowing him, he probably tried to stop them with little to no thought for his own safety."

"I've only been back for a week, maybe two," Ben spoke up, "but I feel like I know Darius enough to know that he's always trying to do what is best for everyone else. I agree with Yasmina though." Looking at Darius, Ben says, "With little to no thought for himself."

Kenji realized that he wasn't going to win this one. He just sighed, and sat down on the couch. Darius went over and sat down next to him. "If you feel like I need to change what I'm doing, please tell me. Because I really don't understand what the problem is."

Kenji sighs again. "I'm just tired, and want to go home."

Darius nods. Everyone nodded too. "We all do. If you don't want you and Sammy to be the first group to scout the island, it can always be me and Brooklynn, or someone else if she doesn't want to go."

"It's not about that." Kenji says.

"Then what is it?" Darius asked, wanting to get to the bottom of this.

Finally, Kenji snaps. "You missed the boat! Okay?" Darius was confused until Kenji continued, "You didn't make it to the boat on time. Tiff is probably home by now, and she isn't going to tell anyone we are here."

Darius sighs. Kenji expected him to make an excuse to defend himself, but instead, Darius says, "You're right. I was too slow. Again. And because of that, Tiff was able to get away."

Brooklynn tried to defend Darius for himself. "Tiff had a head start, you couldn't have-"

"But I did." Darius said. "I almost did. It was right there. I could have jumped, gotten onto the boat and knocked out Tiff. Then we would have been at Costa Rica, on the phones. Talking to our families. Instead, I just accepted defeat and stopped. I'm sorry man."

After a minute of silence, Kenji sighs. "I'm sorry too. I'm just frustrated about this whole thing. I know you are trying your best."

"Nice job bonding you two." Yaz smirks a little bit. Darius and Kenji roll their eyes at the same time. Sammy and Brooklynn start to grin at this.

Darius shakes his head, and gets up. "Alright. Now that the frustration is out of the way, is everyone okay with sending groups of two?" Everyone nods their heads. Kenji is still not too sure about this, but he was willing to trust Darius. "Alright. I'm not going to ask anyone to come with me on the first trip. But if you would like to come with me, then I'll pack some food for you too."

Brooklynn speaks up. "If we are sending groups of two out, let's keep everything the same way it has been. Sammy and Kenji can go on the next one if they want, followed by Ben and Yaz. But let's keep the groups the same way."

Sammy agrees. "It will be easier to watch each other's backs since we already know them so well."

Everyone else agrees, and Darius says, "Alright. I'll pack the bag. We'll leave tomorrow. Kenji, I'm putting you and Ben in charge of gathering wood for the boat. Brooklynn, what type of wood are they looking for?"

Brooklynn explains, "You're looking for a lot of big branches and vines. Make a big pile. We need lots of wood for trial and error in making the raft."

Darius packed one of the back packs with some food to last a two weeks, water, and some alcohol to clean any wounds. In the morning, Brooklynn and Darius head out. Before they went, Darius pulled Ben aside. "I told Kenji he was in charge, but we both know that he won't get shit done. So, you are officially in charge. Just... Make Kenji think he is still in charge." Ben smiles and nods.

"Good luck you two." Ben tells them as they leave. Darius and Brooklynn wave at them. They didn't have any way of communicating with each other, but they were all sure that they would be fine.

Darius and Brooklynn walked through the jungle for a few hours. The sun was almost up. Darius didn't know how close to noon it was, since he left the watch with Kenji, but knew that he was starting to get hungry. They had been following the river, and had gotten pretty far. The problem was that they were going fast. Darius was used to it, but Brooklynn wasn't. "Do you think we could... Slow down a minute?" Brooklynn asked between panting. "Unlike you, I didn't grow up in the woods."

Darius nods. He sat down, and Brooklynn sighed and sat next to him. "Where did you grow up?"

Still panting, Brooklynn said, "Well, I was born in the United States and lived in New Jersey for a while. Then once I started doing the whole YouTube thing, and ended up doing an Unboxing Buckingham Palace video, we decided to move to London."

Darius nodded. "Damn."

Brooklynn then asked, "Did you even know who I was when we came here? I'm not trying to sound snotty, I guess it's something I always wondered."

"Honestly," Darius took a drink of water, leaving her in suspense for a moment. "I think I remember some girls talking about you during school."

Brooklynn nodded. "Any of them girls you dated?" she smirks and bumps his arm, teasing him.

They both laugh a little. "One of them." he answers honestly.

"You have a girlfriend? Even if she thinks you're dead?" Brooklynn asked. She doesn't know why she was digging into his personal life.

Surprisingly, Darius started to open up more to her. "No. There was one, but..."

"Life?" Brooklynn finished for him. She thought though that maybe his mom getting sick probably shoved a wedge between them.

Darius nods. "More or less." He took another sip of water, and asks her, "What about you? Got anybody waiting back home?"

It's Brooklynn's turn to shake her head. "No one. And... I don't go to High School. I do online schooling."

Darius notices that she turned her head a little bit. "Okay. Your point?" She looks back at him surprised that was his reaction. "School is a great place to meet people, make friends, and sing Kumbaya. Or, at least I'm told. But it's a horrible place to actually learn anything. I imagine online school trades socialization for an actual education."

Brooklynn chuckles. "Why do you think I started my web channel?"

"Got a best friend at least?" Darius asked.

Brooklynn suddenly drops her smile just a little. But Darius noticed. "Had a best friend, but... The saying, 'long distance relationships never work' apply to friendships sometimes too." Brooklynn started remembering the last conversation she had with her friend.

Darius reflected on this. He was... worried to say the least. This was the first group of friends he's made since middle school. He was friendly with everyone, but he was one of those kids that fit with every group, but at the same time, not have a single friend. Sure, people knew he existed. But that was just about it. Part of the reason he played football was because those guys were in a way his family. But he still never really connected with anyone. How was that possible? He was on the field with them every week, practice. Looking back, Darius usually comes to the conclusion that he allowed his mom's death to affect him the way he did.

But with Brooklynn, Yaz, Ben, Sammy, and hell, even Kenji, Darius started filling the hole of loneliness. But when they got home, would they even find the time to hang out? It's not like they can ask their parents to change their lives so that the kids could still be friends. Hell, they lived all over the WORLD. London was a whole day ahead of Montana. Brooklynn would be asleep before he even had dinner.

Do you even want us to leave? Darius couldn't believe himself.

No. Of course he wants us to go home. He just... doesn't want these friendships to end. This is the first group of friends we've ever had.

It's going to end eventually. Deny it all you want, it won't change the fact that his friendships here have an expiration date. He doesn't want it to end? He could always prevent them from getting home.

That's not fair to them or their families. They didn't ask to be here, and their families are in pain, thinking that their kid is dead. And everyone is looking to him to get them home. What about his brother? Or his uncle? They are going to be happy to see him come home.

At the expense of his own happiness. Why does HE always have to be the one to-

ROAR!

Darius is pulled out from his thoughts, and he and Brooklynn look in the direction of the sound. After a few seconds, Darius says, "It doesn't sound close enough to be any threat to us." Brooklynn nods, feeling a little better. "We should keep moving, just to be safe." Brooklynn nods again, and they grab their stuff and keep following the river. Darius moved her in front of him so that way he wasn't worrying about her.

After another few hours of walking, they see that it's getting dark. They found a good tree to sleep in, and ate their dinner there. When they were done, Darius told Brooklynn to get some rest. He had Kenji's watch since Ben had one. Brooklynn started to notice that his eyes were sagging. "Maybe YOU should get some rest. You look tired. More than anyone else here."

Darius admitted, "I don't sleep well anymore."

Brooklynn asks, "Is it because of... your mother?"

Darius sighs. "We were supposed to be staying here a week. We've stayed here for two months. I... missed my mom's memorial. She died on Valentine's Day."

"I'm sorry." Brooklynn said. Darius nodded. "But YOU haven't had the best sleep schedule. And you need to be well rested. I'll stay up, and wake you if needed. Just go to sleep." Darius was about to argue further, but decided against it. He knew by now that once she had her mind set, so he gave her the watch, and laid back on the bark. He closed his eyes, and after a few minutes, he finally fell asleep. Brooklynn heard him snore softly. She kept watch for a while and decided to sleep around eleven. She looked at him, and smiled. Finally, he takes care of himself. That's part of his problem. He does too much to help others, and doesn't do enough to help himself. That idiot. Finally, Brooklynn fell asleep too.

Roughly 5:15 at camp...

Back at camp, Ben and Kenji had found a lot of wood, Bumpy being a big help with some of the bigger wood, but it wasn't going to be enough. "We may have to think about deforestation." Ben said. "We can find a bunch of little twigs on trees, but if we want big wood, we should think about cutting down some trees."

Kenji nods. Yaz calls them up to the base. "It's time for dinner. And the sun is starting to set. We still need to decide who is taking watch."

Once everyone has their dinner, Kenji says, "I can take first watch." Everyone looks at him.

"You're... Willingly volunteering to do something?" Ben asks.

Yasmina looks a little confused as well. "Yes. Why is that so hard to believe?"

"Because you're... You." Yasmina says, thinking that her point was made.

Kenji looks at her. "Maybe I'm trying to change."

Sammy is the only person that tries to encourage Kenji. "Well, I think it's a great idea. Kenji can take first watch, and Ben can take the second watch at midnight."

Everyone nods in agreement. The others try to fall asleep while Kenji stays awake. He borrowed Ben's watch since Darius and Brooklynn took his. Everyone except Kenji and Sammy were awake the longest. Sammy came over to check on him. "Doing good?"

Kenji nodded. "Just figured that someone needed to keep watch. Although, there isn't really much to watch for."

Sammy reasoned, "Maybe that's the point. Some dinos are nocturnal I think, so it's a good idea to watch out just in case." Kenji nodded again. "You're not doing this to prove anything, right?"

"What do you mean?" Kenji asks.

"Well, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, I'm just making sure that you're not still mad at Darius, and that you aren't doing anything to prove yourself to him or anyone else." Sammy explains. "We all trust you. I don't want you to think that you need to prove something to me our anyone else."

"I'm trying to do something for once." Kenji explains. "Almost all my life, I've been riding off of my dad. I act like it's my money as well, but I don't think I'm even in the Will. I just want to start getting off my ass."

Sammy nods. "I'm proud of you. Just don't push yourself so hard so fast."

Kenji watched Sammy walk away and smiled. I'm trying to prove to you, myself, and everyone else here that I am just as capable to lead. I'll show you all. You'll see.

That's where I leave it. I was trying to make it one long chapter, but I unfortunately don't have the patience. Basically, the end of this chapter and possibly the next chapter happen within a day of each other. I tried my best to do just one long chapter, but again... Not really patient. How would you guys feel about a character death? Because I'm thinking I could have a major character actually die, and then that changes the whole story into something new. But then again, that doesn't really fit with what I want to do with the end of THIS story. I don't know. Maybe I could do an alternate universe for which ever I don't do. Make the character live in this story, but then do an alternate version where they died. What are your thoughts on this? Stay home, stay safe.
