Hello again. Hope y'all are enjoying. Season 3 is officially starting this chapter. And guess what? We are over 5,000 views. AWESOME! Check out idkwhattoname77's new story on Wattpad, Camp Cretaceous: Camp Fam for Life.
I also watched No Way Home the other day, and it was BEAUTIFUL! Very few movies in the MCU and very few movies in general can make me feel so much emotion. I won't give any spoilers, but I actually cried when I think everyone else cried as well. Again, very few movies can make me feel like this. If you haven't watched it, PLEASE DO. It's amazing, you won't be disappointed. I was already on board with Tom Holland's Spidey when we first saw him in Civil War, but No Way Home was EXACTLY what he needed.
Okay, geek out is over. Stay home, stay safe.
Darius, Brooklynn, Yasmina and Ben were exploring the tunnels. They had some flashlights, and Darius and Ben were leading the way. Sammy and Kenji stayed back at camp and were preparing the supplies for the raft. They were going to stick to the raft idea if they couldn't find anything down here. They had been searching for a few hours. Since the tunnels were underground, it was easy to cover a lot of ground.
"We've been down here for a while." Yaz told everyone. "We haven't found anything. Maybe we should head back."
Brooklynn shook her head. "No way. There was a secret door that had power. If we could get back to that, we may be able to find a working phone, or a satellite phone. ANYthing that can get us off this island."
"What's the matter? Afraid of the ocean?" Yaz taunted.
Darius turns around, and said, "If you are going to keep fighting, I'm leaving you BOTH down here. Me and Ben will say you were eaten by a dinosaur." With that, Yaz stops taunting.
But Brooklynn answers her silently. "Despite what Darius and the others think, I only have SOME raft experiance. And three boys and three girls on a boat, who all need to shit and piss at some point, is NOT how I want to go home."
Yasmina had to admit that she had a good point. "Makes sense."
After another hour, they start to hear something. Some sort of... chewing? Darius and Ben got in front of the girls, ready for anything. They turn the corner and see... a little dinosaur chewing on some wires. "Huh. Is this where all the Compys went?" Ben asks, shining the light on them.
"The Compys are green." Darius notes. "And are not afraid of the light." the teen points out how the small animal scurries away in fear.
A squishing sound was heard a few feet away from them. Another one of the little dinos was chewing on something. After looking closer, Brooklynn asked, "Is that... The same dinosaur?"
A light is put on the little dinosaur, and in it's mouth was a dinosaur that looked like him. The little compy like animal was chewing on the leg, and pulled out the eye. Yasmina groaned in disgust and horror. "Um, guys?" Ben shines the light farther down the tunnel. As far as the light shined, it was a bunch of living and dead dinosaurs. A little dinosaur was walking around, looking fearful. It ran to one of the dead bodies, but before it could get some food, a bigger one chomped on it's neck, and began eating it alive.
"They're... Killing each other?" Yasmina asked.
"Look at how many bones and bodies are here." Darius said. "It's got to be at least hundreds. And it just keeps going and going, maybe reaching thousands. If these dinosaurs were part of Jurassic World, we would have seen them at the surface. I think that these guys have been here since the fall of the first park." Finally, the screaming stopped from the little dinosaur that got eaten by it's own kind.
"So, to keep themselves alive, they breed and kill each other for the sole purpose of eating them?" Brooklynn and Yaz shuddered in fear at that thought.
"We might want to get out of here." Ben said. Darius wondered what he meant by that, but then he saw that they were starting to look at the humans, clicking as if they were communicating and thinking if they should attack them.
The humans took a few steps back, thinking if they moved slowly, they would be okay. One loud screech caused the rest to attack. The humans turned around and ran. "Where do we go?!" Brooklynn asked.
Darius didn't know. "Just find a ladder that leads up to the surface!"
Yaz and Brooklynn were ahead of Ben and Darius. Darius saw that they were coming up on a ladder. Looking back, he saw that the little dinosaurs were not right behind them, but if all four of them tried to climb the ladder, at least one of them wasn't getting out of here. "Brooklynn, Yaz! The ladder! Climb it! Me and Ben will keep running till we find another one!"
As the girls started climbing, Darius hit the button that he remembered Kenji hitting when he lead him to Toro. Ben and Darius saw that the girls were almost up, so they ran. "You think they're gonna be okay by themselves? Together?" Ben asked.
"Have you even met them?" Darius countered.
Ben chuckled. "I'll take that as a no."
A few more twists and turns, and the boys saw their escape ladder. Darius pushed Ben towards the ladder so he could get up faster. Darius pushed the button again. The hatch opened as the dinosaurs began to climb. Ben got out of the way for Darius to get out of the hatch. Once his foot was clear, Ben slammed the hatch down just as one was trying to escape.
Darius and Ben just laid on the ground. Darius wanted to laugh, but he was too tired. Ben started chuckling though. "Whew. Another narrow escape, huh?"
Darius sat up and sighed. "Yeah. ANOTHER narrow escape."
Ben noticed his mood change. "What's wrong?"
The older teen shook his head. "I'm just getting tired. Tired of all the running, the escaping. One of these days, our luck is gonna run out. What then?" Ben thought about it for a second. "We need all the luck we can get." Darius continued. "We're leaving by boat, since we couldn't find a phone. Think our luck is gonna save us?"
Ben sighed. "I guess not." Ben looked at his watch. "It's gonna be dark in about an hour. Wanna find some place to hole up?"
Darius nodded and got himself up. His bones hurting like hell. His joints felt like they could fall off if he moved it the wrong way. They walked around for a little bit, and found a good tree to rest in. Once they got situated, Darius said, "This reminds me of when we missed the boat." Ben perked up. "We spent the night in a tree. It wasn't bad, but the next morning, Yaz yelled at everyone to wake up and I ended up falling out." Ben chuckled at this. His face then slumped into a half smile, half frown. Darius noticed this. "Hey, you good?" Ben nodded. "Look, I'm sorry for earlier. I didn't mean to put all my emotion on you."
Ben assured him, "No, it's not that. It's just... Something else."
Darius thought for a second. "Is it nerves? We're going home pretty soon, so I'm trying to think of what I'm gonna say to my brother when I see him."
"What's it like living with siblings?" Ben asked. "I never had any, although I see my six year old cousin on a regular basis."
Darius thought for a second. "It's like two neighboring countries just waiting to attack each other over anything. Anything you do or say, you always feel like you're about to start a war." Ben chuckles a little. "But it's alright for the most part. You're always ready to help each other out, ready to bail you out of trouble even if it's all your fault. And you always got a partner in crime for all the dumb shit you could never pull off alone."
Ben smiles. "Sounds like a lot of fun."
"Yeah." Darius chuckles at the memories of him and Brandon. "You're never alone either. You wish that they would leave you alone, yet at the same time, you're always thinking, 'I could never imagine living without them.'" Ben's face fell again into a sad smile. "Is that what's on your mind? You don't want to lose us?"
"It's inevitable." Ben said. "We're spread all across the country. Brooklynn lives in another part of the world." Darius listened to Ben. "And we can try all we want, but that just delays the ending."
"Don't think like that." Darius told him. "When we get home, NOTHING is going to separate us. We've got phones. We can always call each other, or there is always Skype or something."
Ben looked at him, then said, "Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?" Darius couldn't answer him. The older teen went back to eating his ration of peaches. Nothing else was needed to be said. The rest of the evening was silent. They both knew that the mood had changed too much. "I'll take first watch. I'll wake you up in a few hours."
Darius noticed that the sun had set. He nodded to Ben, and closed his eyes.
The next morning, Ben and Darius were searching for food. The girls had the bag of food which was good. They would need it. "Alright George of the jungle, what's good for food around here?" Darius asked, as he was getting hungry. Ben had found a patch of berries for them to eat. "Fruit. Every day it's fruit, fruit, and more fruit. At least it's not wet." Ben chuckles. "You wouldn't happen to have a spare bag of trail mix?"
Ben shook his head. "But if you're looking for some protein, I'll keep an eye out." After walking for a few hours, they come across a building of some sort. Darius and Ben didn't know what to make of it, but they looked around for a window of sort. There wasn't anything, but turns out, the front door was open, so they didn't need to worry. Ben and Darius just stood in front of the entrance. "What are we thinking? We gonna go in?"
Darius sighed. "I've been spending way too much time with Brooklynn. Stay behind me." Darius stepped in and pointed his flashlight in the dark hall. There was a light, but it was very dim. Everything here looked knocked down, like people were trying to run away from the chaos. Or maybe trying to help with the chaos. Darius noticed a hat on the floor. ACU. "This was an ACU shed. They either got the order to evacuate, or they helped with the evacuation."
"Well, it looks like they had a hard time with whatever they were doing." Ben says.
"If this is an ACU shed, that means that they should have weapons here, right?" Darius asked. "Let's take a few."
Ben nodded his head. "But, why would we need weapons?"
Darius reasoned, "The ocean is home to fish, which we can use if we run out of food. But it's also home to sharks. Did you ever see Jaws?"
"My uncle tried to show me." Ben answered.
"Alright." Darius continues. "Well, at the end of the movie, the police guy is stuck on a sinking boat. He shoots the air tank the shark ends up putting in it's mouth and it explodes. If we have a gun, or some sort of weapon, we can keep predators at bay."
"So, if a shark attacks, your plan is to feed it an air tank, and then shoot the tank, and then pray that nobody is traumatized?" Ben asks him.
Darius thinks for a second. "Well, when you put it like THAT, anything sounds stupid."
The two chuckle a little. Darius and Ben looks around for the weapons. They find it, and Darius opens it up to see what all is left. He sees a couple of clocks, and a bunch of ammo. He wanted to carry them, but they didn't have the backpacks. Darius looks for a second, before seeing what looked like an ACU backpack. He grabs it, and empties it, looking inside. Nothing useful. Except maybe the gauze.
Darius turned back to the weapons, and grabbed two Glocks, and a lot of ammo. He doesn't load them because that would be dangerous and stupid if he forgot to check the safety and one of them was loaded. "Do you even know how to use one of those?" Ben asked him.
"My Uncle first got me started on hunting rabbits and other small animals with a handgun before letting me use his hunting rifle." Darius explained. "Speaking of rifles..." The teen turned to his left and saw a Remington 870. He grabbed it, and checked to see if it was loaded. It wasn't, but he grabbed some ammo for the shotgun as well.
Ben was getting concerned. "Are you sure that it's a good idea to bring these back to camp, or on the boat?"
Darius reasoned, "We haven't seen any Compys around the camp for a while now, which is a good thing. But at the same time, aside from Rexy, the carnivores have moved for whatever reason. They are much closer to the middle of the Island compared to the North. The guns are just for our protection. It's not like I'm gonna go hunting or something."
"Have you thought about killing one of them for meat?" Ben asked.
Darius thought for a second. "I don't think I would know where to begin. I would assume that they wouldn't be much different from a cow, but I don't know."
Ben and Darius walked back to camp again. After another few hours, they finally got to the site. Sammy met them with hugs and Kenji gave them side hugs. Suddenly, Kenji noticed. "Where's Brooklynn and Yaz?"
"They aren't back yet?" Darius asked. Sammy and Kenji shook their heads. Darius sighed and climbed up the ladder. He set the stuff down, and slung the shotgun off his shoulder.
That was actually when Sammy and Kenji noticed that he WAS carrying a shotgun. "Darius, where did you get that?" Sammy asked, fearfully.
Darius laid the Glocks along the table, and sorted through the ammo. "We found an ACU shed a few miles from here. I just grabbed what I thought was useful." Looking back at her, he assured her, "I know how to use it. And it's just for the ocean."
"I think we're more afraid of the fact that you know how to use them." Kenji said. "Cause if you didn't, you wouldn't know the functions of a gun, other than you pull the trigger."
Darius looked at him. "I can give you guys a run down of how to use the Glocks later if that would make you feel better." The oldest teen then started loading one of the Clocks, and put some bullets in his pockets. "And before you ask, I'm gonna go looking for Brooklynn. Her and Yaz are stuck with each other, and we know how they've been at each other's throats these past few weeks." Darius started packing the ACU bag with a couple of cans and was about to go down the slide.
"Don't you think that this is something we should discuss with everyone here?" Kenji asked as he blocked his way.
Darius answered, "No. Because we have two missing campers who will bicker long through the night if given a chance. We have about an hour of daylight left. If we waste any time with debating back and forth, we lose precious minutes." Darius looks at the group. "We still have things to pack. Now, since I've already got a bag packed and the fastest one since Yaz is not here, I will be able to cover more ground alone. If anyone else has a problem with this, tell me now, and I'll just wait until tomorrow to find them. That is, if there is anything left to find." He looked at Kenji, and asked for his watch.
The group stays silent. They couldn't argue that finding them was important. He just seemed so... Passionate when it comes to leading and protecting them. Or maybe, protecting Brooklynn? Sammy thought. But she doesn't say anything as Kenji reluctantly hands Darius the watch and the older teen climbs down the ladder.
Once he gets to the ground, he looks back up at them. "It'll be fine guys. I'll bring them back." Without another word, he jogged away from the group.
The three remaining campers watched him run off into the jungle. "What's his deal?" Ben asks. "He's usually so level headed."
Sammy shared her theory. "Because this is the first time he may have had to spend the night without Brooklynn safe."
Ben looks at her with confusion. "What does Brooklynn being away from Camp have to do with anything. She's still on the island." Sammy shook her head and walked away. She had forgotten for a second that Ben was the youngest here. "What? What was that for?" Ben asked, confused.
Kenji ruffled up his hair. "I'll explain it when you're older Junior." The older teen follows Sammy to the couch.
Ben was just more confused. "What are you guys getting that I'm not?"
Darius had been jogging for about half an hour. He was determined to find Brooklynn tonight. But the sun was setting. It was going to get dark, which means his vision was going to be diminished. He hasn't found anything yet, even though he had covered quite a bit of ground. Darius sighed. He was going to have to look through the night. He wasn't looking forward to it, but if it got her back safe...
The teen made up his mind. He would search till midnight. If he didn't find them before then, he would rest, and continue searching in the morning. The hours kept rolling. He covered lots of ground, but found nothing. Looking at Kenji's watch, Darius saw that he had less than an hour to find them. He sighed, and grumbled. To himself. He kept walking, but a rustling in the bushes behind him caused him to take out the gun, and click the safety off. Darius pointed it towards the bushes, ready to shoot if something attacked him. He slowly made his way towards the big leaves.
11:13 P.M.
Yasmina and Brooklynn had been walking for hours. They weren't sure if they were anywhere near camp, or if they were going in the opposite direction. "Ugh. My feet hurt." Brooklynn said out loud.
Yasmina brushed her off. "Pussy."
Brooklynn just looked at her and wanted to yell and scream. She bit her tongue, and calmly asked, "Why do you hate me so much? I'm not looking for your approval anymore, I just want to know why you take everything I say as a personal attack on you."
"Because you act like a bitch." Yasmina says instantly.
Brooklynn shook her head. "Maybe when I first came here, I acted like a bitch. But I'm pretty sure that the others would agree that I've stopped."
"Congratulations. Another useless accomplishment you can take home to your privileged life." Yaz said, her voice laced in venom and sarcasm.
This time, Brooklynn stood up for herself. She got in front of the taller and older teen, and said, "What is your problem with me? You think that with one look you know me? That's not how it works. You haven't even taken the time to get to know me."
"What makes you think I want to?" Yaz shoots back.
Brooklynn had enough. Without thinking, her arm swung and her fist connected with Yasmina's jaw. Yaz groaned in shock and fell to the ground. The teen clutched her jaw, and tried to see if anything was broken. After spitting on her hand to see if there was any blood, she gets up. Brooklynn said, "I'm sorry for acting like a bitch when I first came here. I'm sorry I hurt Sammy's feelings that day. But do you honestly think that you have the right to judge me when you don't even know what my last name is? As if that has anything to do with anything, but I don't even know you that much. And you're a track star! That already makes you famous to some extent! So why do YOU act like you're better than me? Or better yet, why does the track star, who probably has a huge trophy case at home, try to put down the girl who makes videos for a living?" Yasmina had nothing to say. Brooklynn continued, "You're right! I do have a privileged life. But I wasn't BORN into it! It's not like I brag about it twenty-four/seven. You don't even get mad at KENJI! And HE was born into wealth! So why the fuck do you go after ONLY ME?"
Yasmina just stood there. She was taken by surprise that Brooklynn had punched her. And it was a pretty solid punch. But what she had said had made her think. Why did she go after only Brooklynn? Yasmina finally stuttered out, "I... I don't... I don't know."
After ALL of that, she doesn't even know why she hates me? Brooklynn just stood there. She had pleaded for Yasmina to finally reveal the truth. At this point, Brooklynn didn't care why. She just wanted the reason. It could have been anything. But all she got was 'I don't know'. The shock had finally worn off from the two. Brooklynn sighed, and went behind Yasmina to grab the back pack. Brooklynn looked back at Yaz, and after locking eyes for a second, she scoffed and shook her head. "We should keep moving." Brooklynn walked in front of Yaz.
Yasmina didn't know what to do. Brooklynn was right. She hadn't tried to get to know her. She just looked like one of the spoiled brats from her school, with the pink hair, and snotty attitude. But looking back, Yaz had to admit that Brooklynn had acted less snotty and more mature. But Yaz right now was the one acting immature. After all of that, all I could say was 'I don't know'? The track teen realized that her mother would have been ashamed of her. Maybe that was it. She missed her mom, and she was taking out on Brooklynn. Brooklynn isn't the problem. It's ME.
After walking for a little bit, Brooklynn suddenly stopped. Yaz was confused, but then they heard a click. They stood still. They didn't know what it was. Suddenly a big leaf was shoved out of the way. Yaz and Brooklynn screamed at the sudden movement and noise, and heard someone gasp at them. "Brooklynn? Yaz?"
Brooklynn sees who it is, and quickly rushes into a hug. "What the hell? Don't scare us like that!"
"Don't scare YOU like that?" Darius asked in confusion. "You're the one who was hiding behind a bunch of leaves." Darius returns the hug. Yaz looks at him, but because of the darkness, he wasn't able to see her smirk.
She suddenly realized that someone was missing. "Where's Ben?"
Darius told them, "Ben's fine. He's with Kenji and Sammy back at camp."
"Darius." Brooklynn suddenly saw what he had in his hand. "Where did you get the gun?"
Yaz looked at his hand, and saw that he had a pistol. The mood suddenly changed. "Me and Ben found an ACU shed. I took a couple of guns for protection. With the Compys disappearing, and the carnivores moving closer to the center of the island, it's only a matter of time before we encounter something bigger than a Sinoceratops."
They had to admit they couldn't argue with that logic. But still. "We got to find a place to hole up for the night. We're pushing our luck as it is." Yasmina said. Darius agreed. The three teens took a few minutes to find a tree to sleep in for the night. Brooklynn and Yaz were the first to climb up. Darius put the backpacks as high as he could, and then got himself settled.
Darius put back on the safety, and emptied the bullets in his hand and shoved them into his pocket. Brooklynn and Yasmina watched in a mixture of fear and relief. Fear that he knew how to use a gun, but at the same time, relieved that it was empty. Darius saw this. "I'm not going crazy. If that's what you two are thinking. It's just for protection. I'm not going to go all Rambo on you or the others."
Brooklynn said, "There's a difference seeing you with a hunting rifle and with a Glock." Darius nodded.
"I've got another one and a shotgun back at base." he said. "I'm only taking one gun with us. When we get to Costa Rica, I'm ditching it." Darius assured them.
A few minutes later, Yaz had managed to fall asleep. Brooklynn and Darius were up for a little bit before they both fell asleep as well.
At about four p.m. the next day, they had finally made it back to camp. As usual, Sammy was the first to greet them, slowly followed by half hugs from Kenji and Ben looking on and giving a greeting. After getting all of that out of the way, Sammy allowed them to get unpacked, but the promptly dragged them over to their laid out sail. What had surprised them was that there was a logo. CC
"I'm calling it, The Camp Cretaceous!" Sammy said, her excitement and pride in her work showing.
After a second, Darius said, "I like it. When did you work on it?"
Sammy said, "Today! Me, Ben and Kenji had finished packing all the food that would fit and I decided that we needed a name and logo for the boat."
"I think we should stop referring to it as a boat. Because a boat is not flat." Yasmina said. "Let's refer it as a raft from now on."
Sammy sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine. I decided that the RAFT needed a name and logo. It will be ready by tomorrow." The others nodded, and headed back up to the base. As they ate, they all were feeling a little jittery. After all this time, they FINALLY had a chance to get home. No body wanted to say or do anything to jinx their chances. They all shared nervous glances at each other. They all had looks of fear and excitement.
Once they were all done, they all headed to bed with nothing more than a good night. Darius had said that there would only be one shift tonight. He was going to stay up till 11:30 and then go to bed. He was watching the moon, reflecting on what was about to happen. I'm gonna get them home. No matter what it takes.
"It's going to work." Darius turned to see Brooklynn was still up. "We're going to get home."
Darius was surprised. "I thought you were asleep."
"You breathe heavy when you get nervous." Brooklynn said. "But then again, so does everyone." Darius nodded. "This is going to work." she said, reassuring him.
"I'm cautiously optimistic." the older teen told her.
Brooklynn smirked. "Come on. We need to rest up for tomorrow."
Darius sighed and got up off the floor. He looked at the moon again, and went back to the couch. It had served it's purpose while he was here, but by this time tomorrow, hopefully, they would be smooth sailing to Costa Rica.
Brooklynn's words kept ringing in his head. "It's going to work." I know. Darius thought. Because I don't know what to do if it doesn't.
Darius had woken up, and went to wake up everyone else. Today was the day. Today, they finally got off this Island. They had a raft, and they were going to attempt to sail to Costa Rica. At 6 A.M., they grabbed the supplies and headed to the dock where the raft has been sitting for the last few days. By 7:30, they had made it to the raft, and started putting the sail on. 8:00, and they had gotten all the supplies on the raft and the sail. With nothing left to do, they started to make their way out into the ocean. It was around 8:30, and they looked back. They had put some distance from the island. It was still in view, but once they found a current, they would be to Costa Rica in no time.
"So long Nublar." Darius said. Him and Ben were manning the sail, while the others were keeping the supplies steady.
A loud roar was heard from the island. They all knew that sound. "Bye Bumpy." Ben said softly. Darius put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Kenji ruined the moment. "See you NEVER stupid dino island! You thought you could eat us? Hell no!"
Sammy joined in. "Thought you could crush our spirits? Impossible!"
Ben says, "To be fair, the Island crushed MY spirit. But then, I defeated Toro."
Everyone groaned. "Not again." Yaz said. They have been hearing that story at least once every few days since he came back from the dead.
"Well, Bumpy likes it when I tell it." Ben defends himself.
Before any more arguments could happen, the water suddenly got rough and choppy. They got a little nervous, but felt that they were okay. "Um, guys?" Brooklynn pointed towards farther out, and saw that a wave was forming and coming towards them.
Brooklynn said, "Secure the vines!"
Yaz looked at her. "How?"
"I don't know, pull on them?" Brooklynn suggested, losing her confidence pretty quickly.
"I thought you said you had raft experiance." Sammy said.
"I said SOME raft experiance. SOME!" Brooklynn defends herself.
Yasmina shoots back, "Okay, good to know that only SOME of us will die."
"Don't you two start now!" Darius broke them up. "Besides, as long as the wind keeps it's pace, we will be able to power through." Just as he finished his sentence, the sail broke, and flew away with the strong wind. "Oh shit." Darius muttered. The wave got closer and closer and rose in height. "Oh SHIT!" Darius said as the wave crashed into the raft, and everyone was submerged into water.
Darius had taken a huge breath, but he could only hold his breath for so long. Finally, after who knows how long, Darius breaks the surface. Coughing, he yells, "Brooklynn! Guys!"
"Darius!" Looking to the sound, he sees Yaz, Sammy and Kenji clutching onto a piece of raft debris.
"Where's Brooklynn and Ben?" Darius asked them.
"We're right here!" Brooklynn answered. He saw them swimming towards the log. Darius makes his way over as well. Finally, they were together again.
"What do we do?" Kenji asks.
Darius thought for a second. The water was pushing them back towards the island. "We head back to the island." Everyone sighed, but started paddling. After a few long hours in the ocean, the campers finally made it back to land. Exhausted. And spirits diminished. A couple of the other logs and a backpack had made it's way to shore. Using what little strength they had, they got up. Darius grabbed the backpack and saw that it had some food and a couple of medical supplies. After a quick go through, Darius couldn't find the gun. Not like it would be useful anyways. The six campers made their way back to camp with gloomed faces. On the plus side, we have clean clothes. That actually was also a minus. They had clean clothes, but it was only the clothes on their backs. All the other clothes were in a separate bag.
Darius didn't know what to do now. The raft was the only idea that stuck. And they had used up all the fabric to make a big enough sail that was useful. Now what do they do? Shivers and groans filled the campers. Wet, cold, and not to mention, beaten down, was NOT a good thing for camp moral. No one paid attention to Ben as he called out for Bumpy. They felt like giving up. That is until Darius called out, "Huddle up guys. Camp meeting."
Everyone besides Ben groaned. "Another one?" Kenji mumbled. A few minutes later, Darius and the others were sitting in on the couch of the table in front of the black board.
"Alright, raft escape attempt number one was a bust. I still think it's the best way to go, but I really want to hear anyone else if they have an idea." Darius said.
Kenji perked up. "Just gonna pitch it one more time."
Darius interrupted him. "Unless it involves building a human catapult."
Kenji's grin and excitement was replaced with a grumpy frown. "No offense Darius," Brooklynn said, "but let's face it. We've tried EVERYthing. Gyrospheres, MORE gyrospheres, we even thought that we could learn to fly a helicopter ourselves."
"And not to mention, the worse 'go back to the tunnels to find a phone' idea." Yaz said.
Brooklynn bit her tongue and looked back at Darius. "Plus, it took us forever to find enough useable fabric for our last sail. What haven't we tried yet?"
Darius sighed. "What do you think Ben?" The other campers turned towards the teen. He didn't even turn around. It was almost like he didn't even hear the entire conversation.
Kenji shouted, "YO, JUNGLE BOY!" Ben immediately turned around. "What do you think?" Kenji asked.
Ben stuttered for a second, and proved he wasn't listening by saying, "Yeah. What you said."
Yaz looked at him with confusion. "You really think that building a human catapult is the best idea?"
Ben realized his mistake, and said, "Oh, no. That's stupid. Darius is right. A raft is the way to go."
Darius said, "Alright. We already know that our raft build works. We just need to fine tune how we tie on the sail. We've looked almost everywhere for material except up North. Well Kenji, looks like you get your wish."
Kenji smiled and sighed. "It's a shame we can't just go up to Lookout Point and just fly all the way to Costa Rica. That would be DOPE."
Everyone chuckled at the thought. "Hold it." Darius realized. "What's Lookout Point?"
Kenji clarified, "It's in the mountains North. It's a huge deal. They've got hang gliders and everything."
"Hang gliders." Darius said. "A contraption that uses material designed to catch the wind?" Everyone chuckled and laughed.
"Hey, we could use THAT to make a sail!" Kenji said, still a little on the slow side.
Darius looked at him, and said, "Great idea Kenji." The teen suddenly realized that that's what everyone else was thinking. "We'll head there in the morning." Darius said, and everyone agreed.
And there ya go. Hope you guys are still enjoying. Thanks for the 5000+ views. Have a good day, stay home, stay safe.
