Another one. Hope you guys are still enjoying.
Andrew: Don't worry. I wrote the fanfic, and even I got their ages confused for a while.
Anyways guys, stay home, stay safe.
Soft yacht rock music played through the boat speakers. At least the tape players worked. Darius was worried, but he figured that a little fun wouldn't hurt. As long as Kenji didn't find another bottle of liquor, they were in good shape. Ben and Yaz were jumping off the side of the boat and swimming in the ocean. Sammy was helping Kenji search for some more party supplies.
Darius and Brooklynn were sitting on the comfortable chairs near the bow of the ship. They had been sitting there for a little while when Brooklynn came to a sudden realization. "When we find the gas, we're not just leaving the island, we are leaving in style."
Darius chuckled. "I could get used to having a whole boat at my command."
They both sighed and continued to let the sun hit their skin. This might have been the most relaxing thing they have done since they got on the island. "So, what's the first thing you're gonna do when you get home?" Brooklynn asked.
Darius sighed. "I'm going to hug my brother, chew him out for not looking for me, don't worry, he knows that I'm joking, and then I'm going to see how long I've been away. I wonder if they are going to make me start the school year again."
Brooklynn raised an eye at him. "Really? In a few days, we are going to hit Costa Rica, basically come back from the dead, get global news coverage, become more famous than Drake, probably interviews with all sorts of Late Shows and Tonight Shows, and you're worried about school?"
"I still have a football career to worry about." Darius defends himself. "I've got collages to think about. Not to mention, I'm gonna have to fight the starting QB for my position back." Brooklynn nodded her head. "What will you do?" he asked her.
"After I hug my dads, I'm going to make myself a nice cup of coffee." she said.
"What if I bought you one?" Darius blurted out. Before Brooklynn could respond, he backtracked. "We'll do a group thing with the others. My treat."
She smiled. "That would be nice."
They both looked at each other for a few seconds before laying back down on the chair. Suddenly, a loud popping noise burst near Darius's head. He stumbled out of the chair, with Brooklynn taking cover too. Darius grabbed the gun, and clicked the safety off. He pointed up towards where he thought the sound came from and was going to shoot. But another noise made him realize who it was.
"Ha ha ha haaaaaaa!" Kenji doubled over in laughter.
"Ugh, Kenji!" Brooklynn yelled.
"Not funny bro!" Darius said. "What if I shot you?"
Kenji looked at him. "You wouldn't have shot me." he said. "The gun isn't even in your… hand..?" Darius held the gun up for him to see. "Wait, you were really going to shoot me?" Kenji's laughs turned into nervous chuckles. He quickly moved away from them, nervous laughter coming from him.
Darius groaned, and clicked the safety back on. The two teens then sat back on their chairs. "So, how are we going to get him back?" Brooklynn asked.
"What are you talking about?" Darius responded, confused.
She elaborated, "Kenji is obviously doing this for a reaction, and I've never been involved in a prank war. But since you have siblings, maybe YOU have an idea of what to do next?"
Darius thought for a second. "Well, think. He's giving out a few shots, trying to get a response so that he has another reason to prank you back. The pranks only get more intense over time, which I've learned the hard way is NOT amazing." After thinking for another minute, he continued, "Nip this thing in the ass and quick."
"So what's the plan?" Brooklynn asked.
"I wouldn't recommend it as you have more prank wars, but you wanna go dirty on your first try. You don't get a chance after that" Darius explained. "Steal his captain's hat and fill it with dino crap. And then when his back is turned and he's hunched down looking for it, put it on his head. Maybe smear it in."
Brooklynn looked at him with disgust. The way he was able to come up with something so cruel so quickly. "What happened to you as a child?"
"Sixteen years of sibling abuse." Darius simply answered. The girl beside him nodded her head.
"I was thinking we scare him back." Brooklynn said. "*gasp* What if we slowly and methodically make him think he never existed? And then, just when he is on the brink of total madness, we'll be all like, GOTCHA!"
This time it was Darius's turn to be speechless. "That seems more like a step UP instead of a step down from the poop." Brooklynn nodded her head. "Well, he found those Party Poppers. Maybe we can find something louder." he suggested.
With that, they spent their time looking for the party supplies. They wanted to respond back to Kenji either right now in the day time, or at night. Darius was thinking to prank him when everyone else went to sleep. Wake up the others first, and then prank Kenji. Brooklynn agreed. They found Sammy playing with a beach ball with Ben on the dock. "Hey Sammy." The Texas girl looked in their direction, taking her eye off the ball for a second, and getting hit by the beach ball. "Where did you find the beach ball?"
"In a box near the living room. There's all sorts of cool things in there." she answered, and went back to her game with Ben.
Brooklynn and Darius went to the living room area. They found the box, and Brooklynn started to rummage through. "There's got to be something in here we can use."
"Make it fast. We don't know where Kenji is." Darius warned.
After another few seconds, she said, "Fireworks. These will be perfect." She handed one to show him. Darius smirked.
He continued to look out of the living room area, checking for Kenji. A second later, he came around the corner looking at something. "Captain on deck." Darius whispered as he saw Kenji coming their way. He shoved the firework pole in his pocket, and Brooklynn shoved one of the ottomans in front of the box since there wasn't anywhere else to hide them. Kenji entered the room. "Hey Cap. How's it going?"
"Just checking up on my crew." Kenji said. "What are you two up to?"
Darius quickly lied. "We saw that it was getting dark so the party is going to wrap up soon, and we weren't sure if everyone wanted to sleep in the living room or out on the deck." Brooklynn nodded, a nervous smile on her face. God, her first prank war, and she was so close to being caught. "Just seeing what we could do to help." Darius assured Kenji.
Kenji eyed him up and down, and saw a bulge in his pants. His eyes widened. "You expect me to buy that?"
Darius was confused for a second, then saw where he was looking. "Shit." he muttered. "Look, it's not that."
"Don't lie to me!" Kenji told him. Before things could escalate further, a loud bump was heard and felt. Brooklynn and Kenji stumbled, but Darius caught her.
"What was that?" Brooklynn asked.
Darius said, "I don't know. Let's go check it out." Once they got down to Sammy, Yaz and Ben, they saw a hole that was big enough to be concerning. "What the hell happened?"
"We couldn't have hit anything." Yaz said. "We're too close to shore."
Brooklynn said, "Does it really matter how it happened?"
"She's right." Darius agreed. "We got to take care of this NOW before-"
"The boat sinks." Kenji finishes, very aggressively.
Nobody caught on as Yasmina said, "Thanks for the clarification."
"There's got to be something up near the dock that we can scavenge." Brooklynn said. "Maybe some tools or fuel."
"Get changed." Darius ordered. "The fog is rolling in. We've got to be fast." It was a fairly quick change. The girls just put on their jeans, and Kenji and Darius put on their shirts. The sun was almost gone. The six teens met up and went into the dock. "Everyone spread out. Yaz with Ben, Sammy and Kenji, me and Brooklynn."
"No." Kenji said. "Me and Darius will go together."
Darius was confused but then said, "Fine. Sammy and Brooklynn, watch each other's sixes." They broke off, and started to search. Once everyone was clear, Darius asked, "What's wrong?"
"What the hell dude." Kenji said. "What were you going to do to Brooklynn?"
"'What was I going to do?'" Darius was so confused. "What are you saying?"
Kenji shook his head. "Stop lying to me. I saw the bulge in your pants."
"You mean, you are so obsessed with thinking I have a crush on Brooklynn, that the moment you see us alone together, you think I'm about to get it on with her?" Darius asked.
Kenji scoffed. "Well, if it fits."
Darius rolled his eyes, and reached into his pocket, revealing the firework Brooklynn handed to him. "We were trying to find a way to scare you after you scared US." Kenji calmed down. "If you think that I would ever do that to Brooklynn, and keep in mind, I haven't even asked her out yet, you clearly don't know me. Haven't I said time and again that I wasn't interested of starting a relationship with her while we were in danger?"
"I'm sorry." Kenji said. "You know that I care about her too."
"Well, next time, remind yourself that not everyone takes advantage of girls like you." Darius shot back.
Kenji was about to say something, but couldn't get the words out because a loud roar suddenly was heard throughout the dock. Sammy and Brooklynn's screams were heard. "Brooklynn!" Darius and Kenji shouted. They both ran in the direction of the scream. Darius was faster, so he got to them first. A big dinosaur was attacking. It looked like a stegosaurus, but without the spikes on it's tail. Darius took out his gun, and pointed it at the sky. CRACK!
The four legged herbivore stopped charging at Sammy and Brooklynn, and turned towards Darius. It started to charge again, but Darius fired another bullet in the air. CRACK! The dinosaur stopped charging again, and ran away from him and the others. Darius raced towards Brooklynn, and they gave each other a hug. "Are you guys okay?"
"We're fine, but we've got to find the others." Sammy said.
Darius took Brooklynn's hand, and the three teens started running in any direction. They needed to find Kenji, Yaz and Ben. They heard some more noise and ran towards what sounded like Yaz and Kenji screaming. They came across an open area, and looked around for any dinosaurs, or if they could find their missing friends. "Ugh, where could they be?" Darius said. He started running again, but ended up crashing into someone. He landed on the ground with a loud thud and a heavy weight on him.
"Kenji." Sammy said.
Brooklynn noticed the others were right behind him. "You guys are okay!"
"Darius broke my fall." Kenji said, then he looked down at the older teen. "Thanks bro."
"No problem," he said, giving a thumbs up. "Now get off."
Yaz helped Kenji off Darius, and Darius pulled himself up off the ground. "Where's Bumpy?" Sammy asked. They couldn't see very well with this fog.
Rwoawer. Bumpy answered, and rubbed her head on Ben's hand. With everyone back together, Darius started leading them to where he thought the boat was. "We've got to get to the boat and cast off."
"What about the hole on the side? Not to mention a lack of fuel." Ben asked, pointing out that they didn't get what they came for.
"Me and Sammy found some duct tape." Brooklynn said. "We'll figure out the hole later."
Darius agreed. "As long as we don't use too much fuel, we will be okay. There's got to be another dock near by."
They walked for a few more minutes. Brooklynn then said, "The boat is back this way."
"No, it's back THAT way." Yaz said, pointing towards Bumpy.
"We just came from that way." Ben told her.
Kenji looked around, and said, "I put out some little electric candles all around the bow of the ship. Look for the lights." Everyone turned their heads, and walked again.
"There!" Sammy said.
Everyone turned to where she was pointing. "Party yacht for the win!" Kenji shouted. Another dinosaur roar and a bang behind them cause them to shout in fear and run towards the boat. They got down the ramp, but so did one of the dinosaurs that were chasing them. Kenji felt around in his pocket, and found three more Party Poppers. He turned around, and threw them at the dinosaur's feet. It hit the ground, and popped. The dust and sound caused the dinosaur to stop, and shout in fear and pain.
The teens made it to the boat, and helped Bumpy get on. Darius and Brooklynn didn't board yet, since they still had to take care of the hole in the boat. "You have the tape?" he asked Brooklynn. She showed him her wrist, wearing it like a bracelet. He took off his shirt, and said, "Use this to plug it." Brooklynn got to work. She folded it, and put as much tape over it as she could.
Brooklynn finished the quick job. "This won't hold for long, but it should do for now." Another roar was heard up the dock. The teens saw three dinosaurs charging towards them.
"Kenji, start the boat! Go, go go! Full reverse!" Darius shouted as he helped Brooklynn onto the side ladder. Yaz and Sammy pulled her up over the railing. The engine started, and Kenji went full reverse. Darius jumped on the side ladder and climbed as fast as he could. He turned around, and saw the dinosaurs stopped at the end. The campers looked at each other and sighed. "That was close." Darius said.
BUMP! The boat rocked violently, causing everyone to fall over. The kids looked over the railing, and saw the dinosaurs swimming and CHASING the boat. "Aww, they SWIM now?" Sammy asked.
"They swim now." Darius responded, getting frustrated. Kenji kept driving further out to sea, but they kept coming. "We can't outrun them. Any ideas?" he asked anyone.
"We could scare them off?" Yaz suggested.
"With what?" Sammy asked.
"Fireworks!" Brooklynn said.
"Go!" Darius told her. She raced to grab them, while everyone else stayed on the deck. Bumpy was already defending them. The swimmers started to attempt to board them. Brooklynn came back with a bunch of sticks, and tossed them to Ben, Yasmina, and Sammy. Darius took out his gun. He wouldn't shoot them, but it would make loud noises. The kids lighted their sticks, and pointed them at the sky. The bright colors and noise filled the air. With the combined colors and sound from the fireworks and gunfire, the dinosaurs quickly decided it wasn't worth it to attack anymore. They roared, and swam back to shore.
The teens laughed, and cheered as the dinosaurs swam away. Brooklynn looked at Darius, and said, "Well, I didn't get to scare Kenji, but I managed to scare away dinosaurs that would have killed us, so… I'll count this as a win."
"Hell yeah you can." Darius responded. They fist bumped each other in victory, and went up to Kenji. He came out of the control room.
"I cut the engine to save the little fuel we have." he told them. "We are officially adrift."
Darius started thinking. "What the hell is going on? First, Compys disappear from camp, and then herbivores attack and take over the dock for no reason. There's nothing that they would want from a man-made area."
"Things seem to be getting next level weird." Brooklynn agreed.
Kenji scoffed at them. "Yeah, because 'Dinosaurs never go bonkers at their own theme parks', said NO one EVER."
"This isn't like the Indominous, a freak of nature, escaping and causing chaos." Darius reasoned.
"But what?" Brooklynn asked.
"I don't know. But right now, we have a more pressing issue." Kenji reminded them of the hole on the side of the boat.
All six teens looked down at the side of the boat. "What do we do? We can't just leave it alone, it's gonna cause us to sink." Yasmina warned them.
Darius thought for a moment. "If you can find some rope, you guys can tie it around my waist, and hold it as I tape the side of the boat as best as I can."
The six teens spread out. They found a couple of flashlights, which will be very useful, and a long rope. Darius, who was still shirtless at this point, tied the rope around himself, and handed the end of the rope to his friends. Kenji was at the wheel, watching everything in the distance.
Putting one leg over the railing, Darius turned on the flashlight, and put it in this mouth, then put the tape roll on his arm. He swung his other leg, and held onto the railing. He let go, trusting his friends would keep him out of the water. However, they didn't think about how heavy he actually was. So, when he let go, he dropped fast. But before he hit the water, the caught him. He looked at where he was, and saw that he was a yard away from the hole. "Guys, shift me a couple of feet to your right!" he ordered. Once he got to it, he called out, "Stop!"
They stopped, and he got to work. The hole somehow looked worse right now. Were they already sinking? Because the boat wasn't this low in the first place. Darius took his shirt off of the hole, and folded it up, shoving it between the rope and his waist. He took off the old piece of tape, and started putting on new ones. It must have been thirty minutes at least. He was using as much tape as he could, but the problem was that every other piece needed ANOTHER piece to keep the previous one in place. It was a long and exhausting process.
"Hurry up Darius!" Kenji's voice was heard. "With the engine off, we're going to get pulled out to sea, or smash into the rocks."
Darius noticed what Kenji was talking about. He couldn't see the island anymore. Instead, he saw the open ocean, and more ocean to his left and right. The boat was drifting. He got done with taping the hole. It was going to have to work for now. They needed to find some fuel and a GPS or compass at least. And by the time they found that stuff, the tape would be useless. And who knows? Maybe they would be able to use the tape another time. He sighed, and looked back up at the teens. "Pull me up guys!" He felt them tug, and he was slowly lifted back up to the railing. He quickly got back onto the ship, and took off the rope, and put back on his shirt. He was cold from the night, and it would keep him warm a little bit. "We've got to find another alternative. The tape is going to work for now, but by the time we find gas, and anything else we would need, the tape is going to be useless."
"Not to add to the doom and gloom," Yaz interjected, "but I'm pretty sure we're also sinking."
Kenji met back up with the others on the bow, and said, "No. We're just riding low in the water because of The Walking Dead's two ton Frankenweenie."
Everyone looked over to Ben and Bumpy. The former was trying to keep the dinosaur calm. "Don't listen to him. You're perfect just the way you are." Ben whispered to her. Everyone else rolled their eyes. "Isn't there another non-dinosaur-infested dock on the island?"
Brooklynn looked down at the map they have been carrying. "The closest one is the South dock, on the OTHER side of the island." She looked up. "Face it, we're doomed and gloomed."
"At least we aren't bamboozled." Darius quipped.
"Hold up!" Kenji yelled. "There's another dock on the East dock. It's a private dock, not found on maps." His eyes lit up, like he came to a realization. "And, it's right next to the P House!"
Everyone looked at him with confusion. "I just went in the one on the boat, so..." Ben said.
Kenji realized what they were thinking. "No, not the... Ugh. It's my dad's Pent House. The one we tried to get into, but couldn't when we tried to find a place to hole up."
"And you're telling us this now?" Yasmina said, looking at him with frustration.
"Okay, I'm sorry I forgot all about it after The Adventures of Mitch and Tiff." Kenji defends himself. "But now, Brooklynn has a magic key card over here, so meh."
"Alright then." Darius said. "To the P-HOUSE!"
"TO THE P-HOUSE!" Everyone cheered.
Kenji climbed up the ladder, and gave an unenthusiastic laugh. A little while later, they were at the East dock. Darius and Brooklynn stood with Kenji in the engine room. It was still dark, and they didn't want to draw a lot of attention to themselves, so all the lights they could find were turned off. Which was fine for them. There eyes had adjusted to the dark a long time ago. How long though? Darius could think about it later.
Ben and Sammy quickly got down to the dock, and tied the rope around the anchor on the dock. "There goes the last of the gas." everyone heard Kenji say. "What now?" he asked Darius.
"It's late. I don't want us to risk running into a nest of predators or dinosaurs in general." Darius said. "We'll rest up for the night, and then go in the morning." Everyone liked the idea of sleep. They decided that they would sleep on the bow of the ship. Everyone was paranoid that the ship was going to sink because of the tape. They fell asleep to the gentle rocking of the water hitting the boat.
Darius stayed awake longer, keeping watch until he felt that they were safe. Looking towards the East where they would be leaving in a few days, after repairing the boat and finding fuel. "Almost there Brandon. I've almost got them home. I won't fail them like I failed Mom." He went to bed, determination burning inside of him.
And that's where I leave ya! I'm going to take next week off. Spring break! Wahoo! I'm going to be picking up my copy of Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga when it comes out, and waste the entire week dong that. Hope you guys enjoy YOUR spring break. If you're past High School, then... Enjoy your weekend... I guess.
Everyone stay home, stay safe. Enjoy your day.
