Qui gon knew something was wrong the minute that he saw that Obi wan was no longer in his crib, and was just about to search the house for the wayward 16 month old when he heard the front door shut with a slam.
The he heard Anakin's voice yelling "QUI GON! YOU KRIFFING USELESS FORCE GHOST! I WANT A WORD WITH YOU! " Qui gon sighed and decided that he had better go and see what had Anakin so upset , so he shimmered himself off to the living room where he could hear Anakin angrily muttering and cursing in Huttese under his breath.
A moment a he arrived in the living room to find Anakin standing there with a sobbing Obi wan in his arms and a look on his face that would make a Sith Lord run for his life .
"Anakin what in the stars happened! is he alright?" Qui asked worriedly as he took in the sight of Obi wan with his face buried in Anakins shoulder sobbing quietly.
"WHAT HAPPENED! I'll tell YOU WHAT HAPPENED! he almost got squished THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED" ! Anakin snapped at the force ghost . Then he added "you were meant to be watching him!"
"Anakin I' m a ghost I can't physically stop him from wandering off !" Qui gon said now. Anakin's anger drained and his face paled as he realised that Qui gon was right, the force ghost could only warn him about what ever mischief Obi wan got himself into but he couldn't physically stop the toddler from doing so.
He needed too find a babysitter who could be there to stop Obi wan from getting harmed physically and stop him from wandering around alone outside, as there were a lot of creatures on Tatoonie that could and would kill a toddler who had wandered into the desert alone Anakin thought too him self .
Anakin stood there holding a now quiet Obi wan in his arms as he thought about this Anakin failed ,to see that Qui gon was looking at him with a sadness in his eyes that Anakin had yet to notice.
Three Months Later
Anakin was sitting on the kitchen floor working on a Astromec droid that he was trying to fix for a neighbour when Qui gon shimmered into view and said "Anakin you have to leave Tatoonie and take Obi wan with you now!"
Anakin stared at the force ghost and said "Why Qui gon ? "we are both safe here as the council has no idea where we are now ". Qui gon closed eyes in dread briefly and then replied " Anakin my former Padawan Xantoes has told, the Jedi council that you are hiding here on Tatoonie with Obi wan and they are coming for him ".
"What?! but how would he know that! The only person who knows where Obi wan is your past self, Qui gon!" Anakin said now. The Force ghost sighed and said "Anakin the younger me is a lot more open and trusting than , I am afraid Anakin that he may have told Xantoes where you and obi wan are hiding".
Anakin hissed out a curse in hutese and said " what do we do now just sit here and wait for the Jedi to come and take obi wan?!" Qui gon shook his head and said "No of cause not Anakin, but we don't know who they will send to retrieve the boy so may be able too reason with them, if they send my younger self to collect him " Qui gon said quietly.
"And if they don't? Send your younger self ! What then Qui gon?" Anakin asked him. The force ghost sighed and said "then you will have to fight to keep Obi wan alone I can not help you Anakin the force will not allow it " the ghost told him.
Anakin put his hands over his face and muttered "Oh this getting better and better do you have any other revelations that you want to tell me about Qui gon" Anakin asked the force ghost.
The Force ghost gave him a sad look and said "Anakin do you remember me saying that a lot of what happened to Obi wan ,when he my Padawan was my folt and that I made alot of mistakes in my training of him" Qui gon said sadly.
"Yeah I remember "Anakin muttered Qui gon smiled sadly and said " well I wasn't the most willing or the most caring Teacher when I first took Obi wan on as my Padawan, I did and allowed a lot thing's too happen to Obi wan a child that I shouldn't have".
Anakin frowned and said "what happened Back then Qui gon ? What happened to Obi wan make him to the man I knew , beside you get your self killed and Satine being killed in front of him I mean " Anakin asked .
Qui gon sighed and said sadly " I abandoned him him on a war torn planet when he was 13 years old among, other things I wasn't in a fit state to take on another Padawan ,after Xantoes turned to the darkside I never should've tryed to train Obi wan "Qui gon told him. "So is that why you had me kidnap him so I could screw up raising and training him instead of you?! "Anakin asked angry now.
At this Qui gon shook his head and said " No the force showed me that Obi wan's life would be better if you raised and trained him instead of him being raised at the temple, this was my only chance to correct all that went wrong last time around Anakin " Qui gon told him softly.
