Chapter Eight:

After about three hours of shopping for guns at Second Amendment in Kabuki Market, I left with a powerful semi automatic and a Smart Gun, dressed up in red & black tint, Mottly could easily use our link to make combat a breeze. It's nothing compared to the gun I lost in the Badlands, but it would do. The semi automatic was of the power variant which packs a huge punch. We also stocked up on grenades. Lastly our last stop before parting ways as at a local pharmacy where I could load up on MedDoc to help heal injuries during combat.

I even brought a new outfit. A all black hoodie with the words written in white across the middle: Persona Non Grata. Black jeans with a nice belt buckle and black sneakers. I oddly am drawn to the that color. If I'm going to take Gigs more seriously than it's time I chrome up and make myself more tactical.

Santo Domingo:Heywood.

I arrived at Doc's place around six in the evening. I walked into him pleasuring himself with a penis attachment and tuned into a BD. I sat on his couch and glance over virtual newspaper.

-Kang Tao has recently been in talks with Mayor Rhyne and his board about buying Pacific. A lawless entity of Night City, would now become a server farm for the Mega Corp.

Cyberpsychosis has been on the raise of late become an epidemic for Night City, as of late there is no cure for the disorder, but to terminate person or person's displaying the effects of Cyberpsychosis episode. This comes no surprise as MaxTac just received a huge budget increase in the millions of Eurodollars.

Arasaka is once again under fire by it's rivals Kang Tao for loss of employees life during meeting at undisclosed location. Tensions between mounting Mega Corps are an all time high, Militech is oddly silent on the matter. Might be a smart move to let the warring factions tear one another apart. When asked for comments on said allegations, chief representative of Night City branch, Hiroshi Arasaka had this to say...

"Jakuniku kyōshoku. My father thought me this lesson ever since I was a young boy. It conveys one simple meaning, that I wish to part with those who seek provocation with my family. Survival of the fittest." -

"I count that as a win, against our battle with Saka," Mottly said to me.

"Yeah I suppose. But if another Corpo war sparks we are just of age to be conscripted into the battle." I say ominously.

"Never thought about it that way."

"Besides if the suits have their war, we can never find out what happened to my father. The truth that is."

"Don't worry, we've got this."

"Oh Davie's Choom, what brought you here?"

"It's Ryan, and I'm looking to upgrade."

"Shit, well then take a seat and I'll put you under da knife." Doc's accent rang out.

He started buy bringing up the list of implants, I didn't have a huge budget to spend so if I wanted to be ahead of the game. I had to pick wisely.

"I'll take the Adrenaline Booster and the Synaptic Accelerator." I said steadfast in my decision.

"Synaptic Accelerator, don't tell me your jealous of Davie's Sandevistan?" Doc says with a raised brow.

"N-no." I shout out. Honestly I was a bit envious. "Just want to able to keep up with him, for Gigs and shit.

"I don't gotta tell ya about being reckless. It might not hold a candle to the Sandy, but over extending use could prove fatal." He warns.

"Don't gotta tell me twice. Now let's do this thing!"

Doc had me lay flat on my chest as he gave me a bit of anesthetic, before going to work cutting into my flesh. The numbness is unwelcome but it beats the searing pain of having flesh torn open and bones being poked and rearranged for the surgery. I pass out at the twenty minute mark of the procedure.

I was sweating and bloody mess, my back was sore and tender and I sat up to grab a glass of water neatly placed besides me. Gulping it down I felt the dryness of my throat leave.

"Mornin sunshine." Doc calls from his couch.

"Urg my head." I complained.

"Kid anyone tell you, ya sleep like the dead. Couldn't wake you for nothin."

"Yeah sorry about that." I reply rubbing my feeling up to walking about, I pay Doc and get dressed.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Incoming Call -

Maine: Ryan where are you currently?

Ryan: At Doc's place.

Maine: Alright I'll be there shortly, there someone who wants to meet with you.

Ryan: Roger.

Maine got here in no time flat, sitting down in the passenger seat, I watch as traffic go by as Maine drives with a bit of urgency.

"Is everything alright?" I ask as Maine was transfixed on the road.

"Why wouldn't I be?" He says aggressively.

"You look out of it, it could be me, hell it can be the med's Doc gave me for the pain, but something's off about you."

"Shaking hands, heavy breathing, dilated pupils. All the signs of someone under destress." Mottly adds out loud.

"I'm fine!" Maine shouts slamming on the brakes stoping traffic. He brings a inhaler towards his mouth, inhaling the chemicals within, his body begins to ease up as he slide the inhaler in the glove compartment.

"Dorph?" Mottly asks stunned.

Maine doesn't answer and put his hands back on the steering wheel.

Santo Domingo: Heywood.

We arrive in a underground parking lot. It was full of both ultra deluxe cars to some low scale ones still pretty expensive for being bottom tier.

"Gunna explain what we doing here?" I ask.

"This wasn't my idea, but our little crew main fixer asked for you by name." Maine states as we enter the elevator and he punches into the panel for the top level.

"I wonder why?"

"Not sure either, but one way or another it's a paycheck regardless." Maine says unsure of the motive of the fixer.

We walk into a swanky penthouse suite/ office ensemble. A tall thin blonde hair woman at the front desk greets us as we walk in.

"Right this way." We both follow her when she stops. "He only want to speak with him.

"I don't like this. But fine. Ryan, I'm going to grab a bite ring me when you're done." Maine left without another word.

She lead me down a long hall to a open office and open the door. "Sir, as you requested." She says as she steps away and I walk in.

"Ah come in come in, it's good to make your acquaintance Ryan. I am Faraday."

Faraday is a thin, elderly man with gray hair. He wear a burgundy Neokitsch suit with black trim and yellow accents, black gloves, black shoes, and a white button-down shirt. His most noticable features are his four cybernetic eyes, three of which were installed on the right side of his face.

"So I'm guessing this isn't a social call, there something you need me for?" I say quaintly yet blunt. Maine didn't need to say anything, but I'm sure enough aware to keep my wits about me.

"Pretty preceptive lad aren't you. But yes I have a Gig set in motion. Help me and I can help you. It's obvious you have a grudge against Arasaka."

"Interesting, not many know about my ambitions. What's the task?"

"I need someone to disappear. Do that and our future will be a fruitful one." He says enigmatically.

"Who?"

"Mikel Donovan,(CFO) of Petrochem."

"Got it, kill the bastard and that's it."

"Oh no, it isn't as simple as that. You see I need him to go missing just long enough for Petrochem board meeting to take place. In his absence my client will be promoted to fill the void of his absence." Faraday say in a nefarious tone. Everything about this man freaks me out. It almost gutteral to want to get away from him. But I manage to compose myself. "As long as he doesn't die, how you get rid of him is up to you."

"That's gonna be hard lugging a person around on the N-Kart."

"Ah yes, that reminds me, there is a small gift I like to give you as a sign of our partnership." He slides me a electronic key.

"What's the key for?" I ask with hesitation on my breath.

"Why your new, Shion Coyote." That was a type of sports car, wasn't cheap either.

"Woah." I blurt flabbergasted.

"She's parked in lot B-7, take this shard, it has Mikel personal schedule on it. Call me when it's done, I'll have your Eddie's ready by then." Faraday says giving me the shard and his number.

"Alright, but make sure you send the money to Maine." I state clearly.

I turn on my heels and leave the room and make my way back to the elevator as his subservient assistant waves me off. I guess this was the next step in reaching my goal.

A/N: A longer chapter this time around, sorry for the lack of action but trust me it is coming.
