A/N: And here, we finally have the 3rd chapter of "Pokémon the Series XD: Gale of Darkness". And in this one, we see the return of a certain girl from Sinnoh, if you catch my drift. :)

Chapter 3: A Battle of Aerial Mobility
Act I
It all started with Rhyhorn yawning in Serena's house. Inside her room, she was wearing her hat, but didn't like that kind of hat and threw it away on her bed before going to her table and trying to pick which hat she will take when her door was knocking.
"Yeah, come in.", Serena said before her mom came in with her Fletchling flying on top of Serena's head.
"Are you going out?", Serena's mom asked.
"Hey, Mom. Which one should I wear?", Serena asked, holding out two hats. One that is bright pink and the other that had a white puff ball at the top.
"I'd go with that.", Grace responded before Serena saw the hat on her left and turned to the other.
"Okay, this one.", Serena said before she then put on the hat on her right hand.
"If you already knew, why did you ask?", Grace asked.
"Whichever one you didn't pick is the cuter one, that's why.", Serena replied.
"I see. So where are you going?", Grace asked.
"Lumiose City. To see Professor Sycamore and get my very first Pokémon.", Serena responded.
A Battle of Aerial Mobility
Meanwhile, in Lumiose City, Bonnie eagerly ran up ahead.
Narrator: In Lumiose City, Ash has just befriended not only Amber Fuji, a little girl infused with Mew's DNA, but also Froakie, his first Kalos Region Pokémon, at Professor Sycamore's research lab.
"Come on! Hurry it up, you guys! Guys, you can register for the Kalos League over this way!", Bonnie shouted as she ran with Max running with her.
"Hey, wait up!", Max shouted with Amber running after them with a giggle.
"Yeah, we know, Bonnie!", Ash grinned.
"Just please take it easy.", Misty grinned.
"She sure is excited, isn't she?", Brock grinned.
"There's no need to rush, the Pokémon Center will still be there.", Clemont assured.
"Thanks a lot, Clemont.", Ash grinned.
"Yeah. It's nice of you to bring us here.", May added.
"Please, think nothing of it. I confess, I'm a little in awe of you guys.", Clemont admitted.
"In awe?", Ash puzzled.
"Of what?", Brock asked before it showed a flashback of when Mayleaf managed to catch Pikachu and bring it up safely before it could fall down prior to Ryoga dropping everyone off safely.
"You were all willing to do anything you could to help Pikachu and that Garchomp back there. Just watching you guys gave me courage.", Clemont responded as the flashback then ended.
"Oh, come on. It wasn't that big of a deal.", Ash responded with a blush.
"It was. I can totally understand why Froakie chose you.", Clemont guessed.
"I can understand that, too, Clemont. But in all honesty, Ash, I'm kinda jealous that it picked you.", Misty responded.
"Well, that is its choice, Misty.", Ash spoke with a bit of a nervous chuckle.
"Pika, Pikachu.", Pikachu responded before Clemont looked back at the Prism Tower.
"I'll just have to do better.", Clemont responded.
"Did you say something?", May asked.
"Sorry, just talking to myself.", Clemont responded.
Later, our heroes arrived inside the Pokémon Center.
"Good morning.", Nurse Joy said with a bow.
"Good morning to you, Nurse Joy.", Ash greeted before Nurse Joy got up and took notice of Ash and the others just as Brock noticed Nurse Joy and quickly went up to her.
"Oh, my dear Nurse Joy! It's so lovely to see you! If I know what love is, that's because of you.", Brock said right before Misty grabbed Brock by the ear and dragged him away.
"And yet, she might get scared off because of you.", Misty added with a glare as she dragged him off, much to Nurse Joy's puzzlement.
"What was that about?", Michael pondered.
"Don't know.", Jovi responded.
"Well, not everyone might want to get surrounded by the paparazzi, if you get my drift.", Miruto responded.
"I don't get it, actually.", Amber responded.
"You will soon, Amber. You will soon.", Miruto assured.
"Right... Anyway, at this Pokémon Center, helping Pokémon in need is our number one goal. We're here for trainers and Pokémon alike.", Nurse Joy grinned as Pikachu wiggled its ears a bit excitedly.
"I was hoping you can help me register for the Kalos League.", Ash responded before Pikachu climbed up to Ash's shoulder.
"I sure can. If you please, touch this panel with your Poké Dex.", Nurse Joy requested, gesturing to the panel just below her and in front of Ash.
"Poké Dex? What's that?", Amber asked.
"Well, they're what let us learn about Pokémon as we encounter them and/or catch them.", Miruto responded.
"Well, go ahead and try, guys.", Jovi grinned.
"Okay.", Ash agreed before he placed his Poké Dex on the computer screen, which registered his info and profile picture.
"Ash from Pallet Town is now registered to enter the Kalos League. Number of badges currently in your possession, zero. We wish you the best of luck.", the computer spoke before Ash picked up his Poké Dex.
"Guess you're ready to go, Ash.", Misty grinned.
"Awesome, and I'm gonna win. My next step in becoming a Pokémon Master!", Ash grinned.
"And every registered trainer is eligible to receive a Kalos Region badge case. Here.", Nurse Joy said, gesturing to a Wigglytuff carrying an empty badge case.
"Wigglytuff.", Wiggyltuff said.
"A Wigglytuff.", Ash said.
"Pika.", Pikachu added.
"Aw. It looks so cute.", Jovi grinned.
"Why, yes. Here in the Kalos Region. My able Pokémon Center assistant is Wigglytuff.", Nurse Joy explained.
"That's great. Thanks, Wigglytuff.", Ash grinned.
"Wigglytuff. (You're welcome)", Wigglytuff responded with a bow.
"You're all registered. Good luck, train and always do your best.", Nurse Joy responded.
"Right! Count on it!", Ash grinned.
"Pika!", Pikachu added as Misty and the others grinned.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket was in the restaurant as Meowth placed the cube on the table before a holographic message appeared with the image of Giovanni shown.
"Good new, Boss. We arrived at the Kalos Region on time and according to plan.", Meowth assured.
"Our goal is to catch as many rare and powerful Pokémon as possible.", James added.
"And we're totally committed to that goal. You can count on us.", Jessie assured just as an arm showed up and grabbed the Croissant.
"Good. I'm certain the Pokémon you catch will be an important addition to our work. Get to it.", Giovanni ordered.
"Sir.", Jessie, James, and Meowth said in unison before the screen turned off with the trio getting eager.
"Yes! The boss says, we're us to get to it!", Jessie grinned.
"Count on us! Yippie yeah!", James added.
"We're the first step in Team Rocket's take over on Kalos! Cause no one takes over like we do!", Meowth added before James noticed his empty plate.
"My croissant?", James puzzled. not knowing that Inkay was under the table eating it.
Meanwhile, the video of Rotom scared Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock before Rotom moved back
"Hey, Rotom.", Ash greeted before Rotom was promptly moved out of the way.
"Hello, Ash! How are things so far?", Oak asked.
"Great. We arrived safely in the Kalos region.", Ash replied.
"And we're gonna start our journey soon.", Misty added.
"Good. Have fun on the road.", Oak grinned.
"Thanks. We already met someone there. And I got my very 1st Kalos Pokémon.", Ash grinned.
"Wonderful!", Oak grinned.
"Well, go ahead and say, 'hi'.", Misty said as she raised Amber up to the camera view.
"Uh..., hello.", Amber greeted.
"Oh, my. Hello there, Amber.", Oak greeted.
"You know her, Professor?", Ash asked.
"Yes. I heard about what happened with that poor girl, but I didn't think I'd see her with you. I give you my dearest condolences.", Oak replied.
"Oh. Well, thank you...", Amber grinned a bit sadly.
"We're looking for her Pokémon so she wouldn't be so upset.", Brock explained.
"Oh. I see.", Oak grinned.
"And speaking of Pokémon, check it out!", Ash said as the Poké Ball opened with Froakie coming out.
"Ah! What have we here! A Froakie, a Kalos water type Pokémon!", Oak grinned.
"You're right! You know everything!", Ash grinned before Rotom got in the way of the screen.
"Hey, Rotom! I can't see! Move!", Oak urged before getting zapped by Rotom in response.
"Uh..., guess we'll talk later, then.", Brock said as everyone else blushed.
Later, as Mew floated around in the air, it then saw Ash, Misty, Brock, May, Max, and Amber walking outside of the Pokémon Center before happily floating over to them, although not without getting a decent vantage point that allows it to hide in plain sight as it peeped over with a cute squeal.
"Guys! Thanks for waiting!", Ash grinned as he, Brock, Misty, Froakie, and Pikachu walked out.
And then, all of a sudden, a voice called out.
"Hey, Ash!", a familiar blue-haired girl with a Piplup shouted.
"Is that...?", Ash asked.
"Pika...?", Pikachu puzzled.
"It's Dawn.", Ash, May, and Brock exclaimed in unison.
"It's Ash! May! And Brock, too! It's been such a long time!", Dawn shouted.
"You guys all know each other?", Miruto asked.
"Yep. We go way back.", Dawn responded.
"Wow, I didn't know you had more friends!", Bonnie exclaimed.
"Well, there's more where that came from, that's for sure.", Ash responded.
"Pika, Pika.", Pikachu agreed.
"So, let me know if I heard this right. Your name's Dawn, right?", Clemont asked.
"Yep. That's right. And this is Piplup.", Dawn introduced.
"Piplup.", Piplup agreed.
"Nice to meet you, Dawn. I'm Amber.", Amber greeted.
"I'm Michael.", Michael greeted.
"Name's Ryoga.", Ryoga added.
"I'm Miruto.", Miruto added.
"And I'm Clemont. And this is my sister, Bonnie.", Clemont responded.
"Nice to meet you, Dawn.", Bonnie grinned.
"Nice to meet you, too, Bonnie.", Dawn grinned just before Mew squealed as it finally showed itself to Ash and the others, much to their surprise.
"Hey, what's that Pokémon, Clemont?", Bonnie asked.
"I don't know.", Clemont said.
"That's the mythical Pokémon..., Mew.", Amber said.
"Wow... That's Mew?", Miruto asked.
"So, it does exist.", Brock said.
"Mm-hmm.", Jovi added.
"Aw, it looks so cute!", Bonnie grinned as she tried to run over to it to hug it only for Mew to teleport before Bonnie could do so, causing her to fall on the ground before Mew reappeared behind her as her bag slipped off.
Afterwards, Mew picked up said bag, squealed as it went around her and then gave it back to Bonnie.
"Aw. Thanks, Mew.", Bonnie grinned before Mew floated near her and giggled.
"I think Mew likes you, Bonnie.", Max guessed.
"Pika, Pika.", Pikachu grinned, making Amber smile.
"Is that Pokémon your friend, Amber?", Misty asked.
"Well, it could be my new one. But it isn't my first one.", Amber replied.
"It isn't?", Ash puzzled.
"Then, who is?", May puzzled.
"Well, let's just say that it's bigger than Mew and looks a bit stronger, too.", Amber responded.
"Oh. So, we're looking for that Pokémon. I may not know a Pokémon like that, but I'm not giving up on finding it, either.", Ash assured.
"Yeah. We'll all find it for you.", Misty assured.
"After all, if Mew turned up here, then maybe we'd meet your friend one of these days, too.", May added.
"Yep. And while we're at it, we could give that Giovanni guy a run for his money!", Ryoga added boldly.
"And stop any Shadow Pokémon that comes our way so we can purify them.", Michael added.
"Wait, Shadow Pokémon? Purify?", Dawn puzzled.
"Yeah, I'll explain later.", Michael assured.
"In the meantime, didn't you tell us you were going to challenge the Santalune Gym first, Ash?", Clemont asked.
"Yeah. I'm pretty sure the gym leader should be back right now.", Ash responded.
"I think the best way to get to Santalune City is by traveling route 4 all the way here.", Clemont suggested as behind him, it showed a map with a mini Ash walking down said route.
"Then Route 4 it is! As long as there aren't any bug types around.", Misty grinned.
"Aren't you psyched, Pikachu?", Ash asked.
"Pika.", Pikachu grinned.
"Froakie, you're gonna be great.", Ash grinned.
"Froakie.", Froakie grinned.
"So, why don't we hit the road?", Clemont asked.
"Let's go!", Bonnie exclaimed, puzzling Ash.
"Huh?", Ash puzzled.
"The sooner we leave, the sooner we're there.", Clemont responded.
"Can't argue with that.", Michael grinned.
"You don't have to show us around anymore.", Ash assured.
"Silly, Ash. We're all really, really good friends now, right? So, we're going with you.", Bonnie grinned.
"Really? You are?", Misty asked.
"No joke?", Ash asked.
"Pika?", Pikachu added.
"We're serious. Remember what you all did back there? You showed me what it's like to have real courage! I know I can get stronger. We both can get stronger traveling with you!", Clemont responded.
"You're right, Clemont.", Bonnie agreed.
"Yeah, he has that kind of effect on everyone.", May explained.
"Yeah. And besides, the more the merrier.", Miruto responded.
"And with those Shadow Pokémon around, you guys might need some muscle.", Ryoga added.
"So? Is that okay?", Jovi asked.
"Of course, it's okay! Traveling with friends is way more fun.", Ash grinned.
"You got that right, Ash.", Misty grinned before Clemont and Bonnie smiled.
"Alright, it's a deal! We'll have a great time!", Ash grinned as he got out his Burst Gem as did Misty, May, Brock, and Max.
"Hey, what are those?", Dawn asked.
"Lup?", Piplup puzzled.
"Those? These are Burst Hearts. They basically allow us to turn into Pokémon.", Ash replied.
"It's actually really great once you get used to it.", Misty added.
"Really?", Dawn asked.
"Yep. That's right. And something tells me we're gonna have a fun time with those.", Ryoga replied.
"Yeah, we sure will!", Clemont grinned before he and Ash clasped hands with each other as if to shake hands with Misty, Brock, May, Max, Ryoga, Amber, Michael, Jovi, and Amber (the first 5 of which put on their Burst Hearts) then placing their hands on top of theirs.
"Hey! No fair! I can't reach!", Bonnie exclaimed, slightly surprising the others before they lowered their hands so that Bonnie could reach as Pikachu and Froakie joined in as well.
"Let's go meet lots and lots of Pokémon!", Bonnie grinned.
"Right! Good friends together! Kalos here we come!", Ash shouted before everybody raised their hands and cheered together just as the 5 Burst Hearts started glowing brightly in a translucent rainbow-ish light.
Meanwhile, Serena was finally getting ready to leave.
"Rhyhorn. Gotta go, wish me luck.", Serena said before hugging Rhyhorn by the head.
"So do you know which Pokémon you want?", Grace asked.
"Mm-hmm.", Serena replied.
"Which one?", Grace asked.
"It's a secret. I'm off. Later!", Serena responded as she left, the wind blowing in her hair.
"Bye, take care! Don't forget to practice your Rhyhorn racing!", Grace shouted.
"I won't! Bye!", Serena assured.
"I guess we'll just see about that.", Grace sighed with a grin.
At the forest, a Dedenne was climbing up a tree and found a berry as the heroes (with Ash, Misty, Brock, May, and Max in Pokémon form), especially Mew, walked by.
"No way! So, that's how you guys look as Pokémon?", Dawn asked.
"Yep. Pretty great, huh?", Ashachu responded with a grin.
"Admittedly, it may feel weird, but other than that, it's great.", Mayleaf added.
"Do you think I could change into a Pokémon like that, too?", Dawn asked.
"Mew.", Mew nodded.
Pikachu and Froakie were a step or two in front of Ashachu and the others just behind Bonnie when they suddenly stopped.
"Hey, what's up, you two?", Ashachu asked.
"What's wrong?", Amber asked.
Meanwhile, Dedenne struggled to get the berry off of the branch. But as it did, the berry flew away and fell down.
"Oh, no!", Dedenne exclaimed before the berry hit on Pikachu's head and then landed on the ground.
"A berry? But what is it doing here?", Maxodile puzzled as he picked it up right before a thunderbolt attack hit the ground near him, surprising him up to a point that he flung the berry away by accident with the berry hitting Bonnie.
"Oops. Sorry about that, Bonnie.", Maxodile apologized.
"What was that?", Ashachu asked.
"Bonnie, are you okay?", Clemont asked.
"Well, that was a shock!", Bonnie commented.
"You could say that again.", Mistyque agreed.
"But what was it?", Mayleaf asked.
"If I had to guess, I'd say it might've been an electric Pokémon.", Bronix guessed.
Sure enough, Froakie and Pikachu noticed Dedenne going across a branch.
"What do you know? That was an electric Pokémon.", Miruto said.
"But what kind of electric Pokémon is it?", Michael asked.
"Maybe it wanted this.", Bonnie guessed as she picked up the berry before Dedenne ran to get the berry, but Pikachu blocked its path quite adamantly.
"Hold it!", Pikachu shouted.
"Huh? Never seen that Pokémon.", Ash said.
"Neither did we.", May responded.
"Hands off!", Dedenne exclaimed.
"It's so cute!", Jovi and Bonnie said excitedly.
"Come on...", Dedenne said worriedly as it tried to get the berry on Bonnie's hand but Pikachu still blocked its path.
"Get back!", Dedenne urged before Pikachu's red cheeks started sparking.
"You get back!", Pikachu responded as its and Dedenne's small sparks connected to each other.
"It sure doesn't look like it's afraid of us.", Bonnie grinned.
"Well, they are both Electric type.", Dawn responded.
"Piplup.", Piplup agreed.
"Right. This means they can communicate with Electricity.", Clemont explained.
"Yep. There's no doubt about it.", Bronix agreed as Ashachu brought out his Poké Dex and analyzed Dedenne.
"Dedenne, the Antenna Pokemon. Dedenne communicates long distance with other Dedenne by sending radio waves through its antenna-like whiskers.", the Poké Dex stated.
"Wow! So that's a Dedenne!", Ashachu grinned.
"I want it so bad! Hey, you'll keep it for me, would you?", Bonnie asked.
"Keep it?", Ashachu asked.
"Are you sure?", Mistyque asked.
"Yeah. He'll keep it for me, until I'm old enough to become a trainer. Pretty, pretty please? I promise I'll take care of it.", Bonnie assured.
"Let me see.", Clemont responded.
"Aw, do it. I can help you catch it if you want.", Ashachu offered.
"You will? Thanks a lot, Ash!", Bonnie grinned.
"All right, then. Let's catch Dedenne.", Clemont grinned before Bonnie noticed the berry she's holding and went over to Dedenne, lowering herself to get the berry closes to the ground, although still on her hand.
"Hey, Dedenne. You wanted this right?", Bonnie asked.
"It must've thought Max was gonna take it.", Mayleaf guessed as Dedenne cautiously sniffed.
"That's right. Here, take it.", Bonnie offered with Dedenne sniffing it.
But before Dedenne was about to take a bite of the berry, all of a sudden, a Fletchling came up out of nowhere and seized the berry.
"Hey! What's the big idea?!", Ashachu exclaimed.
"That must be a new Pokémon.", Dawn guessed before Ashachu brought out his Poké Dex and analyzed Fletchling.
"Fletchling, the Tiny Robin Pokémon. Although Fletchling's chirp is quite beautiful to hear, it is relentlessly tough with those who enter its territory.", Ashachu's Poké Dex stated.
"No fair! That berry belongs to Dedenne!", Bonnie shouted.
"Yeah, you heard her! Give it back!", Ryoga shouted before the Fletchling then ate the berry.
"Ling, ling, Fletchling.", Fletchling mocked, stunting the others in shock.
"Fletchling ate the berry!", Clemont exclaimed before Pikachu turned around and saw Dedenne making a sad face as did the others.
"Uh-oh.", Froakie said in slight worry.
"Hey, Dedenne, what's the matter?", Bonnie asked before Dedenne then took off crying.
"Dedenne, wait!", Bonnie shouted before Dedenne only ran in the bushes, much to Bonnie's sadness and Mew's as it leaned its head, feeling bad for it.
"I don't think it's going to come back.", Clemont guessed before Ryoga, seeing how sad the other Fletchling made Bonnie, growled angrily and jumped up toward Fletchling.
"HOW DARE YOU?!", Ryoga shouted as he tried to use Bolt Strike on Fletchling only for it to dodge in the nick of time, albeit barely.
"Man! It dodged that.", Michael said.
"Wow. That Fletchling is fast.", Mayleaf said.
"Yeah, look at that. All right, I'm gonna catch that Fletchling now!", Ashachu grinned.
"Huh?", the group puzzled.
"Mew?", Mew squealed puzzlingly before Fletchling perched on the branch and glared.
"Fletchling!", the other Fletchling said.
"Well, I can see this is going to end well...", Bronix sighed.

All: It's Fletchling!
"Fletchling."
"Fletchling is a flying type. Pikachu has an advantage as an electric type.", Clemont stated.
"You're forgetting that Ryoga has the advantage, too.", Miruto added as Bonnie started to cry, albeit holding it in.
"Why, you...!", Ryoga glared.
"Kay, Pikachu, let's go!", Ashachu said.
Pikachu was about to attack but then...
"No. That Fletchling's mine!", Ryoga shouted before he jumped in and tried to use Bolt Strike on Fletchling again, but missed as it dodged, stupefying him.
"Come on, Ryoga! We've don't even have a plan! Pikachu, let's use thunderbolt!", Ashachu shouted.
"Right! Thunder...!", Pikachu began as it and Ashachu were about to unleash the thunderbolt attack, but Ryoga stopped them.
"Stay out of this!", Ryoga exclaimed before jumping up, puzzling Pikachu.
"Ryoga...?", Pikachu puzzled before Ryoga he prepared Electro Ball.
"Eat this!", Ryoga shouted as he then prepared and fired Electro Ball to attack Fletchling. Unfortunately, before he fired, Fletchling used Double Team.
"Wait. I think that's Double Team!", Mistyque guessed before Ryoga's Electro Ball hit all but the real Fletchling, who used peck on Ryoga, making him hit the tree, although he clawed at the tree while sliding down.
"Ryoga! Are you okay?", Miruto asked.
"What do you think?", Ryoga retorted.
"Take it easy, just let Pikachu handle this.", Ash assured before Froakie turned to Bonnie, puzzling her (her sadness now turned to surprise) before leaping off Ash.
"Wait!", Ashachu exclaimed.
"Fight me!", Froakie shouted before then leaping up.
"Not you, too, Froakie!", Ashachu shouted.
In no time, Froakie tried to use Frubbles on it only for Fletchling to dodge them all before then using Water Pulse on it only to fail and then get pecked, knocking it down.
"Hold on. Didn't Professor Sycamore say that Froakie had a habit of ignoring its trainer when battling?", Clemont guessed.
"I'm starting to understand. Stories about Froakie leaving its trainers. I get it!", Ashachu grinned, puzzling the others.
"You do?", Mayleaf asked.
"Then, by all means, let's hear what you think's going on.", Bronix responded.
"Mew?", Mew puzzled.
Meanwhile, at Team Rocket's Balloon...
"My kingdom for a little bit of breakfast. My departed croissant.", James said a bit sadly.
"It may be early for lunch. But let's bend the rules.", Meowth said as he brought out a basket.
"Wow! I second that!", James grinned.
But then, a gust of wind blew the sandwich out of the basket.
"Come back, Sandwich!", James shouted as he tried to get the sandwich but failed before something grabbed the sandwich instead.
"Did you see what I just saw?", James asked.
"Something with a touch of white?", Jessie guessed.
"A Pokémon, I'll bet.", Meowth added before an Inkay showed up behind the Villains and spat out ink at them.
Back at the battlefield, Fletchling hit Froakie with Peck before Ryoga jumped up and tried again, but to no avail like before.
"Stop, guys! Just chill out!", Maxodile urged.
"Chill out?! And let that Fletchling get away with what it did?! Are you nuts?!", Ryoga exclaimed.
"You're only gonna end up hurting yourselves.", Miruto urged.
"No! Let go!", Froakie exclaimed.
"I know how you and Ryoga feel, Froakie. But you've gotta listen to me.", Ashachu suggested.
"Ash, look out!", Dawn shouted just before Fletchling charged in with Air Slash, prompting the group to disperse with Mayleaf catching both Ashachu and Froakie with her vines before setting them down.
"Good catch, May.", Amber grinned.
"Thanks. Are you okay?", Mayleaf asked as Mew went over to Ashachu and the others.
"Yeah. I'm all right. What about you, Pikachu? Ryoga? Froakie?", Ashachu asked.
"We're all right.", Pikachu assured.
"Define all right...", Ryoga grunted as he stood up, although not without Mew's help considering that he crashed onto a tree trunk a few moments earlier after Fletchling used Air Slash.
"Misty, May, Brock, Max, Dawn, Michael, Jovi, Clemont, and Bonnie, are you guys okay, too?", Ashachu shouted.
"Yeah, Ash. We're all right.", Clemont sighed.
"Just a bit bruised, but we're okay.", Michael added.
"Phew.", Pikachu sighed.
"Hey, Froakie, I understand. You and Ryoga wanted to get even with Fletchling for making Bonnie sad.", Ash guessed before Froakie got off.
"Is that true?", Bonnie asked before she hugged Froakie and Ryoga.
"Thank you, guys!", Bonnie grinned.
"Yeah..., no problem.", Ryoga replied.
"But as far as we know, you guys can't do that without a plan.", Maxodile said as Fletchling flew in a circle.
"So, what do you have in mind?", Michael asked.
"Okay, Fletchling can fly. So first, we need to figure out a way to lure it in.", Ashachu said.
"Hey, that's a great idea.", Jovi grinned.
"But the only question is, how?", Maxodile asked before Clemont chuckled.
"Well, you guys just leave it to me. You see. the future is now, thanks to science. Clemontic Gear on! Presenting my Flying-Type Pokemon Attractor Machine!", Clemont said as he presented a sort of Phonograph-like invention.
"The name could use a little work.", Bonnie suggedted.
"How does it work?", Amber asked.
"You see, bird Pokémon have a homing instinct. By using sound waves of a certain frequency, this little invention of mine can attract or repel bird Pokémon by affecting their internal compass. Watch this, power on!", Clemont said before he activated his invention.
"It's starting to work.", Clemont said.
"So cool! Man, science is amazing!", Ash said.
But then, a bunch of red eyes appeared in the trees.
"Uh, I think it's working too well, Ash.", Dawn responded worriedly.
"Yeah...", Piplup agreed just as nervously.
Then, it showed that Fletchling wasn't being affected as it just yawned.
"I don't understand. It makes no sense", Clemont said.
"I think it's starting to attract something else...!", Mistyque said worriedly as her ears wiggled slightly, overhearing buzzing noises before, without warning, a swarm of Beedrill emerged from the trees, surrounding the heroes.
"Beedrill!", Ashachu and the others shouted.
"They were attracted by it?", Clemont asked in shock.
"Turn off the machine!", Bonnie shouted.
"SBEEE!", Beedrill exclaimed before Mistyque screamed and ran as fast as she could on all fours like a cheetah.
"Let's follow her lead!", Miruto exclaimed before she, Ashachu, and the others ran from the swarm of angry Beedrill.
"Ah! They're coming after us!", Ashachu exclaimed.
"I've must've pick too low a frequency! And a higher frequency would've work a whole lot better on bird Pokémon! Let's try this!", Clemont exclaimed while turning the handle of the machine much faster.
"Stop it, Clemont!", Mayleaf shouted.
"You're only making those Beedrill angrier than they already are!", Bronix added.
"I'm sure I can affect the flying type Pokémon, if I just crank it up full blast!", Clemont exclaimed in panic, worrying Mew as it exclaimed with a squeal.
"Here goes!", Clemont shouted before the machine blew up (although not before Mew managed to teleport everyone out of range), making the swarm of Beedrill scared away with the heroes' hairs all puffed up during the blast, that is, except for Mistyque, who hid behind a tree trunk and then caught back up to Ashachu and the others while Mew descended down safely on top of Mayleaf's back.
"Looks like you blew it again.", Bonnie groaned before Ashachu noticed the Beedrill leaving.
"The Beedrill are flying away. We're fine now.", Ashachu grinned.
"Oh, thank goodness...!", Mistyque sighed in relief.
"Is everyone okay?", Mayleaf asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine.", Bonnie asked.
"Same here.", Michael, Jovi, Bronix, Mayleaf, Maxodile, Dawn, Piplup, Ryoga, and Miruto agreed.
"But why?", Clemont groaned.
"Clemont, that was great. You attracted all those Beedrill!", Ashachu grinned.
"I guess I did.", Clemont grinned.
"Though, you could at least warn me the next time you try something like that.", Mistyque suggested before Mew giggled.
A moment afterward, Ashachu and the others saw a Fletchling laughing along as well.
"Hey, it's laughing at us.", Bonnie said.
"Either that, or it must've thought it was funny like Mew did.", Jovi guessed as Ashachu took note of Fletchling's flight pattern and smirked.
"I just got an idea.", Ashachu suggested.
Back to Team Rocket, they saw an Inkay.
"That's a new Pokémon on me.", Meowth said before James took out a sort of holo device and analyzed it.
"Ah, Inkay.", James stated.
"Huh?", Jessie puzzled.
"No, not 'huh'. That's its name.", James responded.
"Whatever its name, let's make it ours!", Meowth grinned.
"Inkay, okay!", Jessie grinned.
"Then we'll just have to battle it!", James suggested.
"Take it away, Wobbuffet!", Jessie said.
But before Wobbuffet could attack, Inkay spat out ink on it.
"Now that's what I call quick.", Meowth said.
"All right, smarty pants. Feast your eyes on these!", James shouted before Inkay ate the two sandwiches.
"Our lunch!", Jessie exclaimed.
"I thought you were starving!", Meowth added.
"Inkay took the bait! Watch this!", James exclaimed as he brought out his Poké Ball and threw it, catching Inkay as the Poké Ball shook three times before Inkay got caught.
"I've caught an Inkay!", James shouted in celebration.
"Oy vey, no way!", Meowth exclaimed.
"No way!", Jessie shouted at the same time.
Meanwhile, the other Fletchling landed on part of a mountain.
"This is it. The perfect place to battle. Time to settle the score!", Ashachu said puzzling the others.
"Settle the score?", Bonnie puzzled.
"He means he's going to catch Fletchling.", Clemont responded.
"Yup. Together! I'm your trainer and we're both Pokémon, right? That means you and me!", Ashachu said.
"Right.", Froakie nodded.
"Great! This whole area will be the battlefield! It's full of high and low places, and with your awesome jumping skills and Ryoga's awesome moves, you'll both rock!", Ash said.
"I have no idea what any of that meant...", Bonnie said.
"Go, Froakie! Jump above Fletching! Ready?", Ashachu asked.
Then, Froakie jumped to Fletchling, but it jumped away.
"Yes! Now jump higher!", Ashachu grinned as he went to one of the rock ledges and jumped from ledge to ledge.
"Heh. I'm up!", Ryoga smirked before he went there, too, but with claws as he climbed.
"Ash is taking advantage of all the different ledge heights! And, combined with those jumping skills, Froakie will have even more mobility while Ryoga climbs up one of the ledges to catch up with Ash and intercept Fletchling if it flies away.", Clemont guessed as Froakie then followed Fletching.
"Now, use Water Pulse!", Ashachu shouted before Froakie activated Water Pulse only for Fletchling to dodge the attack.
"Make it hard to fly!", Ashachu shouted before Froakie jumped in the air and unleashed the frubbles only for Fletchling to dodge them.
And when Fletchling saw Froakie, just as Ryoga spotted Fletchling, it hit it, but it turned out to be a decoy made of frubble, which got too sticky for Fletchling.
"Great, Froakie! Now, Bubble, Go!", Ashachu shouted before Froakie then fired Bubble, hitting Fletchling.
"All right. Go, Poké Ball!", Ashachu shouted before he then tossed it up and whacked it with his tail, but it missed Fletchling.
"Leave the rest to me.", Ryoga spoke as he then caught the Poké Ball and wound up, charging it with his electrical energy.
"Take that!", Ryoga shouted before launching it toward Fletchling, shocking it the moment it touched Fletchling before the Poké Ball opened up and sucked it inside before closing, landing on the ground, and shaking three times as it sparked until the shaking stopped, assuring Ashachu that he finally caught the Normal/Flying type Pokémon.
"Yeah! I've caught a Fletchling!", Ashachu shouted excitedly as he ran over to the Poké Ball and picked it up.
"Phew. We did it...", Froakie said as it collapsed in exhaustion.
"Yep. All in a day's work.", Ryoga said before he removed the Burst Heart form his hand, changing back to human form as did Ashachu and the others.
"Now, that was a powerful throw.", Misty grinned.
"You could say that again.", Brock grinned.
"You okay, Froakie? I caught Fletchling 'cause of you guys.", Ash grinned.
"Kie...", Froakie added.
"Pika Pika.", Pikachu grinned.
"Wasn't that amazing?", Bonnie grinned.
"Sure was. Froakie's jumping kept getting better! Same with your Teamwork.", Clemont added.
"Mm-hmm. And not to mention that powerful throw to go with it.", Amber added.
"Yeah! I'm starting to understand a lot about Froakie. Thanks.", Ash grinned before Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder.
"Pika Pika.", Pikachu added.
"Froa...", Froakie added.
"But how did you know that would work?", Misty asked.
"Truth? I didn't.", Ash responded with a slight grin, baffling the others.
"Well, all that matters is that Ash caught Fletchling.", Michael grinned.
"Yep. Come on out, Fletchling! From now on, we're gonna be good friends. All of us.", Ash grinned as the Poké Ball released Fletchling and flew over to him and the others.
"And Fletchling, tell me if you get hungry next time. Because stealing other Pokémon's food is bad.", Bonnie lightly scolded.
"Yeah. Try anything like that again and you get a zap of a lifetime, pal.", Ryoga added before Ash's Fletchling looked down.
"Ok, you're forgiven.", Bonnie assured.
"You're just so cute, Fletchling.", Jovi said as she went over to Fletchling and tapped it in the head.
"How about an Oran Berry to celebrate our new friendship? You too, Pikachu and Froakie.", Clemont grinned before Pikachu, Froakie, and Fletchling each ate an Oran Berry.
"Great! All right, let's head to the Santalune gym!", Ash grinned before Mew noticed Dedenne from far away as it scurried across the bushes before Mew followed after it a little bit only to see a couple of faint silhouettes in curiosity.
Narrator: And so, Ash has another new friend, Fletchling. Now as Ash and his friends set their sights on Santalune City, our heroes' journey truly begins.
But when Mew got a closer look, it sensed apparent evil from them and squealed a bit in worry before heading back.
"This is it, Kyurem. It's time to liberate the world's Pokémon.", the figure in a black cloak, with an eye pattern on them, two yellow bracelets on his left forearm, a cane that has the Team Plasma logo on it, and a pair of black boots smirked.
At Professor Sycamore's lab, Serena walked in.
"Hello? Is Professor Sycamore around?", Serena asked.
"That's me. I'm up here.", Sycamore said as he walked in.
"Huh? Hello there, I'm Serena.", Serena greeted.
"I'll bet you're here to become a Pokémon Trainer.", Sycamore guessed.
"Yup. Also, Professor, I saw those trainers on the news. Their report was all about how they became Pokémon and saved a Garchomp.", Serena responded.
"Oh, you're talking about Ash and his friends.", Sycamore stated.
"Ash! I knew it!", Serena thought.
"I'm afraid that they already left. They said that they're going to challenge the Santalune Gym.", Sycamore said.
"Santalune Gym. Professor, may I choose a Pokémon?", Serena asked.
"Of course, and do you have any idea which Pokémon you like?", Sycamore asked.
"Yup.", Serena nodded.
"Alright, everybody out.", Sycamore said before Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie walked out from the right side of the lab.
"These are the Kalos Pokémon new trainers may chose from. Fenniken, Chespin and Froakie. Which Pokémon will you choose as your partner?", Sycamore asked.
