Returning to the outside Terra had to shield her eyes from the light. The warmth on her skin rejuvenated her and all the negative energy that seemed to have wrapped itself around her melted away. She hugged herself gently. The negative she was now feeling had to do with dealing with the twins because of their feelings for her. It just didn't seem right to tear them apart.

As Terra went to take a step away from the tomb, arms wrapped around her and pulled her against their body. "Terra, you said you would listen to what I had to say," Vilkas whispered softly. "So please…"

"Vilkas, you should be in the tomb coming to grips with what you accomplished for yourself," Terra's head drooped as she felt like she failed in getting away.

"I know what I have done and I need to celebrate with the person who helped me complete that," Vilkas squeezed gently.

"You have nothing to thank me for; I helped you out with a problem. I treated you just as I treat everyone else that is all," Terra sighed.

"No, you have saved me," Vilkas whispered. He let Terra go long enough to turn her toward him, "Terra, I am going to be honest with you now. I have to say this; I can't let this stay hidden anymore. I need you to know even if…" He stopped talking and Terra looked up at him. He was staring behind her, "Farkas…"

Terra tensed up. Her heart wanted to jump out of her chest.

"Vilkas…" Farkas's voice was weak. "Terra?"

Terra turned her head slightly. She felt fear as she tried to see Farkas' face. The man behind her looked troubled.

"What is this about?" Farkas didn't appear angry, if anything he looked hurt.

Vilkas didn't let Terra go or move, but started talking, "Farkas, Terra came here to help me."

Terra could hear Farkas make a sound. She heard footsteps coming toward them. They were slow, calculated and sounded like they carried heavy weight.

"When did you start calling the Harbinger by her name?" Farkas's voice held some accusing tones to it.

Vilkas didn't respond right away. Terra watched as it appeared he was choosing his words carefully. It was a deliberate pause, one that seemed to create tension. "I chose to use her name when she made me come to grips with myself. She took me on a soul searching journey. She has cured my beast and has taken me on the greatest of hunts," Vilkas said each word measured and gave them weight.

Farkas turned a judging glance toward Terra, "If that is the case that is wonderful for Vilkas, but Terra what are you doing?"

Terra shifted away from Vilkas, shrugging off his hold on her and stood before Farkas meeting his defiant stare, "I was leaving. I had finished the favor I was performing and now I was going to the next mission."

Farkas stepped closer to her, "That's not what it looked like when I arrived. It appears to me that Vilkas and you had become more involved than just simple thanks for completing of a mission."

Terra looked intently at the man before her. Her heart was thrashing against her chest. She fought against running to him, from taking his lips to hers, and resisted her desire to bed him. The look he was giving her ruined the dream she had of him, but that didn't change how she felt. The problem now was it appeared that his own brother had taken her from him. It struck her hard that he couldn't trust her, but there was nothing that they could build trust on; she disappeared for days, weeks, and months at a time. How could he know what she was doing?

"He was just lifted of his curse, one could see why he was overly excited," Terra answered. "One who has had a burden lifted from their soul would be overly grateful for what had happened. "

Vilkas grunted in a sort of supportive response.

Farkas look intently at Terra.

A courier came up over the hill suddenly, "Terra!"

Everyone turned and looked at the man. The courier didn't seem to be fazed that he had come into an awkward situation. He walked up to Terra and smiled at her. "Milady, delivery," he said as he handed the folded parchment.

Terra with a practiced hand fished into her purse, drew out a gold coin and handed it off, "Thank you sir." She watched as the courier took off and made no notice of the men standing near her.

Both men gawked at Terra.

"As I stated before I have other missions," Terra turned away from the men to open the letter and found a image of a bloody hand print on the page and simple scribble stating they knew what she did. Her eyebrows rose in spite of herself. "Well, that answered that question," she said folding up the note and slipped it into a safe spot in her corset.

Farkas was now attentively watching her. "Well?" his question was rough.

"It is what it is," Terra said softly, "I have more work."

"You're just going to leave here like this?" Vilkas asked in surprise.

"Yes, I have to go," Terra shifted her pack and made sure her belt was tight on her. She didn't need the twins to be dragged into a mess that she had created by helping someone even if it was murder.

Farkas was suddenly upon her. His hands pulled her face to look up at him and he kissed her. The kiss wasn't soft or gentle. It was a statement of hunger and desire. He was taking everything he could from her, even her breath.

When he pulled away from her, he looked her in the eyes, "Come back to me safe."

Vilkas sucked in a breath. He turned away from Farkas and Terra, she noted that he appeared to have realized that there was something there that he couldn't touch.

Terra let a chuckle out as she tried to catch her breath. She glanced over at Vilkas and nodded as if to reaffirm what he had witnessed. She wasn't sure how to respond to Farkas's comment. She couldn't bring herself to make a promise like that when she didn't know where she would be or what she would be fighting. The dragons, evil priests, cave spiders, and assassins did not exactly understand when a person promises to return.

"Terra…" Vilkas took her hand and kissed it softly. "Thank you for everything."

Farkas growled softly and Vilkas backed away slowly, almost deliberately agitating his twin.

Terra sighed and gently caressed Farkas's bearded cheek to calm him down. "Go spend some time with your brother; you both need to patch some issues that have come to light. Do not use me as a reason to keep a wedge." She went to take her hand away and he placed his over hers and gently kissed her palm.

"I could come with you," Farkas said still holding her hand to his lips.

"No you couldn't," Terra shook her head to restate she meant it. "Where I go is no place that someone like you belong. You two take care of each other." She tore her hand away from him and started to walk passed him, "Oh just so that you know I have received all of your letters…." Before she made it all the way he took her arm and yanked her back to him.

"Why would you tell me that?" Farkas hissed into her ear. "If that is true why not respond to me?! If that is true, do you have no heart? I spend nights worrying about you and you tell me you received all of the pleas that I sent you."

"You're right, I am heartless, remember that the next time you think you can try and reach the stone in my chest," Terra snarled at him, but the tears that were escaping her eyes were betraying her. She ripped herself free and fled from the man that she had wanted to stay with because it wasn't fair to make him wait for her.

"Terra…." Farkas howled out her name but did not follow.

She turned a moment to see Vilkas holding Farkas's shoulder as he was now kneeling in the snow crying for her. She struggled to prevent herself from running back to him. She had become the man that had left her mother to care for a child alone in the woods… she had turned into the entity she hated. Even with the reasoning that this was the only way that she could prevent him from being killed, there was no denying the fiend she had become.

Pulling the letter out of the corset, she had a destination and a hand of fate that she needed to shake.
