Hello again, everyone. I looked at my stats for when my previous chapter came up and, well, from the looks of it, you guys were happy I even just uploaded it. But, yeah. I haven't forgotten about this story, and I'm still working on it. I still have so many unexplored ideas and stuff that I want to work on. So, yeah. I'm not stopping anytime soon. Anyways, let's get to it. (P.S., I would really like for you all to tell me how the story is going so far and what I could improve on, I would really like criticism so I can improve on my writing)
Chapter 4
A bright light filled the Time Nest. Once the light dissipated, Ramble was standing in the room, holding the Corrupted Time Patroller over his back, her black arua still glowing faintly around her.
"Well?" Chronoa asks, as Ramble set down the Corrupted Time Patroller down to the floor
"Everythings back to normal," Ramble stated, as she walked towards the Corrupted Time Patroller. "Piccolo took out both Raditz and Goku, and he didn't see me leave."
Chronoa took in the info as she went to kneel on her knees and hovered her hands over the Corrupted Time Patroller. "And did you see anyone or feel anyone that wasn't supposed to be there?" She asked, as her hands started to glow.
Ramble simply shook his head no. "Besides me and her, nothing." He stated, as he sat down to watch the process.
Chronoa frowned at this news. This wasn't the first time something like or similar to this happened recently. This is the fifth time something like this has happened, and nobody's been able to find anything or anyone to get them at least one lead.
She sighed to herself. These types of incidents disappeared a few months ago before they had resurfaced again recently. And due to the fact the investigation department has been turning up with nothing, Chronoa constantly felt like a ticking time bomb, so very close to blowing up but not quite there.
Chronoa isn't really known for her tempers, but when she gets angry, you really don't want to be the one who sets her off.
Chronoa pushed her thoughts to the side, as she tried to focus on purifying the Corrupted Time Patroller's energy.
Ramble observed as Chronoa purified the Time Patroller's energy. He looked specifically at what appeared to be a furry belt, but he knew better.
"What's her name?" he then asked, looking up at Chronoa. "If you know it."
Chronoa paused for a moment, as she tried to make out her face's features. She then replied "Her name is Racket. She was also another time patroller that had been hand picked by the old timer."
"You do know I'm still here, right?" Elder Kai asked as he walked over to check on the process.
"Yes, but he asked me." Chronoa stated simply, as she finished up cleaning Racket's arua.
"I wonder how strong she is…" Ramble thought to himself. "I mean, I did just fight her, but it wasn't really her. She wasn't the one in control."
Then, just as Ramble had that thought, Chronoa finished purifying Racket's energy. Once she brought back her hands, the glow in her palms subsided, and Racket's now normal arua faded. A moment later, Racket's eyes started to flutter open.
"Racket," Elder Kai asked. "Can you hear me?"
Within the mind of time patroller Racket…
Racket felt extremely sore all over, as if a hydraulic press had been pressing against her body at full force for thirty minutes straight. She wasn't exactly sure if she was dreaming or not. All that she could remember was everything darkening once she went into the time period.
Then, all of a sudden, an old, familiar voice interrupted her train of thought. "Racket, can you hear me?"
Racket, in response to this question, proceeded to open her gold-yellow eyes. She blinked a few times, as her eyes adjusted to the brightness. As soon as they did, she saw the Supreme Kai of time, Elder Kai, and another time patroller hovering over her.
"Racket, are you okay?" asked Elder Kai. "What do you remember before going in to fix the time period?"
Racket took a moment to think for a second, before responding "All I can remember is exactly that, old man." She replied as she proceeded to stand up.
She then turned to face the time patroller that was hovering over her. "And who are you supposed to be?"
Ramble proceeded to stand up, and put out his hand for a handshake "My name's Ramble. It's nice to meet you."
"Yeah, cool." Racket responded as she turned back to Elder Kai without even noticing Ramble's hand. "What even happened, old timer?" she asked him. "And there was a time distortion, right?"
Chronoa responded this time, as she went over to Ramble.
"Yes, there was, and your energy got corrupted as soon as you entered the battle. Thankfully, we had someone to fix it." she said as she raised her hands and started to heal Ramble. "Which reminds me, do you recall seeing someone or something there that shouldn't have been there?"
"It's like I said, as soon as I went in, everything went dark. Didn't get to see anything." she stated, as she leaned on the table behind them. "Anyways, who's this person that fixed everything?" she said while giving Ramble a sharp look.
"You're looking right at him." Chronoa stated simply as she finished healing Ramble, and moved to Racket to start healing her.
She held her hard look towards Ramble, then after a few moments of silence, she stated "If you think that makes me owe you one, then you better shoot that hope down."
Ramble, in response to this, simply made a face as if he just watched a man suddenly turn into a monkey. "Uh...okay."
As she finished healing Racket, Chronoa spoke up.
"Well, based on what we got from you two, we still don't have any leads, and there doesn't seem like anything else can be done except research." she said as she looked at the time scrolls, her eyebrows scrunched. "Anyways, you can go now, just make sure to be on standby."
Ramble nodded and proceeded to walk out of the room. Racket however, stayed there, her eyes trained at the exit.
Then, Elder Kai spoke up. "Racket, why do you do things like this?" He asked, as he walked over and stood right next to Racket.
Racket, taking a few seconds to come up with a response, responded. "Come on old man, you know that it's a time patroller's-"
"You know what I mean, Racket." Elder Kai cut off, looking up at her.
Racket bit her lip, as she looked down at the old man. "I thought we already had this talk." she stated, as she started to grip the table hard enough that her knuckles started to whiten.
Elder Kai simply sighed, before responding. "Racket, you know why I picked you?"
Racket looked off up at the ceiling, not making eye contact with Elder Kai. "So you can keep a close eye on me?"
"Because I know you can be better than this." He responded. "Because I know that you didn't really want Ramble to not approach you, to not try to talk with you."
Racket stayed silent, and the color to her knuckles returned
Elder Kai sighed again and shook his head. "Just remember what I've said, alright?" he asked, as he walked back to help Chronoa look at the scrolls.
Racket simply stood there without making a noise, the gears in her head turning. Then, only a moment later, she left the nest, deep in thought.
