Annnnnnnd we're back. Sorry about this late chapter. As I've said, my upload schedule was not gonna be the best. And like I've said before, don't worry, I'm not forgetting about this story anytime soon. So, without further ado, let's get to it.
Chapter 5
Ramble walked out of the gateway to the Time Nest, going down the stairs and into the streets. Since it was a Saturday, the streets and roads were nothing but clustered. And due to it being clustered, a lot of things had happened all at once around Ramble. Salesman trying to get people to buy their "new and improved and totally original stuff", people looking for things to buy or eat, groups of people having what looks to be a yelling competition, ect.
Ramble paid no mind to that, however, as he walked over to the line for the transfer clerk. As he waited in line, he looked over at a restaurant. There, he could see a happy group of three sitting there, enjoying the day and each other's company. He watched as the father and the mother held each other's hands, while listening to their son talk on and on and having a good time.
Ramble looked over at them, the shine in his eyes seemingly disappeared. But before he could look any longer, a loud "Next!" could be heard, and the line started to move and brought Ramble with them.
A little later…
Eventually, Ramble stood in front of the transfer clerk, the keyboard being presented to him. He proceeded to put his hands on the keyboard, and typed a specific location that not many knew of. Once he finished putting in the location, he pressed enter. The screen froze for a few seconds, before asking if he wanted to confirm his choice of location, and presented a yes and no button. Ramble proceeded to hit the yes button.
As soon the press registered, Ramble felt as if his entire body was being pulled apart and reassembled, and he started to see a place starting to fade into existence. It was, at first, transparent. But with a little time, it started to fill more and more until eventually, the place where he was standing was not the strip he was in before. Instead, Ramble stood in a very large forest that was untouched by construction.
In there, he could hear various different birds singing (and he could bet he could name most of the birds), there were green, luscious plants growing, and there were tall trees looming over him that were growing sky high. The only thing that stood out in a place as alive as this was the pathway that snaked through the floor and up to a village in the distance, that was filled with various different kinds of people living in it.
And so, Ramble began his walk up the path.
Ramble brushed past growing plants and bushes, a few monkey's watching him walk through. Ramble noticed a small monkey (probably a child or younger) offer him a big and ripe peach. Ramble smiled, before taking it and saying "Thanks." The monkey then did a little dance and made a few noises, before scurrying off into the forest. Ramble examined the peach as he walked on the path, seeing how the peach was a perfect mixture of red and orange, and saw near the stem how there were some wrinkles there. He then gave the peach a very light touch, and noticed how it was as soft as a pillow. Ramble once again gave a little smirk, thinking to himself "He's always able to tell, isn't he?"
As Ramble had that thought, the forest gave way to the small town, children running around and playing with each other, some groups of people having small chats, and stalls inhabited and trying to have people buy something.
As Ramble walked into town, a person with a brown, gatsby hat and hair that was silver, started to wave at Ramble.
"Ramble! When didja leave? I didn't notice ya!" he said as he walked over, bringing what resembled a guitar with him.
"Oh, yeah, sorry about that ." Ramble said as the man walked over. "Kinda was in a hurry, so I had to leave by air."
The man then scrunched his eyebrows, before asking "Hold on, I thought you didn't have your flyer's license yet."
Ramble then scratched his head, responding "Yeah, kind was in the heat of the moment and forgot about that one detail." and gave a light chuckle.
The man simply looked at him with an eyebrow slightly raised, before shaking his head and saying "Well, guess ya can't stop forgetfulness."
Ramble then started to walk again, waving goodbye to the man. "Well, see you around, Jose!"
As Jose waved back at Ramble, he held a thought in his head. "That boy's gonna be soaring high, Danver. Just wish you were here to see that."
A little later…
Ramble continued up the path, the trees, greenery and life returning and reclaiming it's land. Ramble held the peach in his hand as if it was a baby, making sure that his hands don't have too much pressure on it. Suddenly, he reached into his pants pocket, and grabbed his scouter out. He proceeded to put his scouter on his ear, and then pressed a few buttons. The small but powerful machine wired back to life, and presented an empty bar, asking for a password.
"Danver." Ramble responded. As soon as he did, the bar disappeared, and presented to him a menu. His eyes trailed up to the upper left-hand corner. There, it said 10:32.
"Wow, I woke up late." Ramble thought to himself as he pressed a few buttons to turn the scouter off. "When did I go to sleep?"
Ramble then recalled a distinct memory of training 'till 10:00 p.m. He had then dragged himself over to the healing pod, and (since it was an older model) the healing process took about two hours. Meaning that he went to bed around 12:00 in the morning.
"...now that I think about it, I could use some more sleep tonight." Ramble said to himself. "But not before I get some training in." As soon as he said that, the forest once again gave way, this time to a singular house.
"Ah, home sweet home." Ramble stated as he walked through the doorway, closing the door behind him.
Ramble looked around the house. In it, there was a couch with a fireplace and a tv set to his left, and a bit up farther to his right there was a kitchen. Straight ahead of him was a hallway. In the hallway, there were a few doors, and at the end there was also a door, leading back outside.
Ramble placed down the peach, and bent down to pull a drawer out. In it, were a cluster of pots, pans, and covers for the pots and pans. Ramble took a small pot, and put it onto the stove, before closing the drawer. Then, he brought the pot over to the sink, and filled it with water. Then, he brought it back, and turned one of the stove knobs. As he did though, one of the heaters that wasn't under the pot flared to life.
"...I always do that…" Ramble said to himself as he turned off the knob he just turned, and turned on the correct knob.
A few minutes later…
The water was now popping hot with steaming water. With that, Ramble proceeded to grab the peach and put it into the pot. He waited for around 15 seconds before taking it back out, while simultaneously turning off the stove. He then grabbed one of the handles of the stove, and went over the sink. Before he placed the pot in the sink, he poured out the water.
Then, before plopping down on the couch, Ramble grabbed a peach skinner. He then started to skin away at the peach, the sweet aroma filling the area. Then, once the peach was all peeled, he proceeded to put down the peach skinner and the skin on the coffee table, and started to eat the peach. The first bite let out a very strong taste, the perfect amount of tartness present within its juice.
"Oh, that's that good stuff." Ramble thought to himself as he proceeded to devour it.
Not even a few seconds later, Ramble finished the entire peach, the only things remaining being the core (which he nearly bit into a few times) and the stem. He proceeded to get up (while also grabbing the peach skinner and the peach skin) and walked over to the kitchen. He then opened two drawers. Ramble proceeded to put the peach skinner back into the top drawer and threw the rest of the stuff into the garbage.
"Well then, guess now is training time!" Ramble thought to himself as he walked through the hallway, going straight through the door.
But as he opened the door, he was greeted by the site of a man standing in front of him. He had blue hair and purple eyes, and he was wearing the armor similar to Ramble's, except instead of shoulder pads, there were silver straps.
Ramble stood still for a moment, before making a reaction.
"Um…who are you?" Ramble asked, slowly walking up to the man. "And how did you find me?"
"The second question is none of your business." the man stated, before muttering something under his breath. "But to answer your first: my name is Jason, and I've been assigned to be your partner."
"Oh! Well, then nice to meet you Jason." Ramble stated as he held out his hand for a handshake. "My name is Ramble."
Jason ignored the hand, instead saying "Listen here, saiyan. I didn't come here for any pleasantries. I came here to introduce myself and warn you."
Ramble then furrowed his eyebrows, his hand still being raised. "Warn me? About what?"
"That if you get in my way…" Jason stated, before shoving his face into Ramble's, "Then you are going to be in a world of pain."
Ramble then raised both of his arms, before saying "Okay, okay, I get it. Just… why are you-" Before Ramble could finish his sentence, Jason then walked through the same door that Ramble came out of, and left Ramble's house.
Ramble looked back at Jason, before saying "Well...he definitely doesn't like me," before turning back to face the massive amounts of training equipment in front of him. "But, that can wait. Now, it's training time!"
