Without hesitation Terra shouted at the jester, "The Night Mother spoke to me!"
"She… spoke to you? More Treachery! More trickery and deceit! You lie! The Night Mother speaks only to the Listener! And there is …no…Listener!" He was now flicking his dagger and panicking. His eyes were now flicking with hatred with the possibility that she was lying.
"Darkness rises when silence dies," she had to get this out before he struck her because at that moment she was not a 100% sure that she could beat the jester before her. She just continued to say what the Night Mother instructed. She sounded like a frightened child babbling on about the monster under the bed.
"She…she said that? She said those words…to you? Darkness rises when silence dies? But those are the words. The Binding words. Written in the Keeping Tomes. The signal so I would know. Mother's only way of talking to sweet Cicero…" just as Terra had seen before the little man before her began dancing a jig, "Then…. It is true! She is back! Our Lady is back! She has chosen a Listener!" He continued his dancing; at one point as he turns he grabs Terra's hand to balance as he spins.
Astrid came breaking the door in, "By Sithis, this ends now! Back away, fool! Whatever you've been planning is over! Are you all right? I heard the commotion. Who was Cicero talking to? Where's the accomplice? Reveal yourself, traitor!"
Cicero was struck stupid, "I spoke only to the Night Mother! I spoke to the Night Mother, but she didn't speak to me. Oh no. She spoke only to her! To the Listener!"
Astrid stood staring at the jester then slowly turned to Terra, "What? The Listener? What are you going on about? What is this lunacy?"
Cicero stepped a little closer to Terra, "It's true, It's true! The Night Mother has spoken! The silence has been broken! The Listener has been chosen!" Cicero then breaks into dancing again moving around the room in erratic movements.
Astrid goes to Terra and begins to growl whisper demanding answers for all the events that just happened. She was angry that what she thought was happening didn't happen and that the stupid jester was now excited. She took in the explanation that Terra gave and explained that she would look into the information that had been provided. Terra is to do work on other contracts before even considering this one.
Cicero was still dancing and then suddenly sings at Terra, "You are the Listener! You are the Listener! I have served mother well, I have!"
Terra was feeling overwhelmed as Cicero was still spouting all kind of information for her. She listened and let the jester speak. This would definitely take up the time she had of thinking on her broken heart. She did as she had been instructed. She went for her new contract and felt this would be best to get out of the madness that was Cicero and the jealousy of Astrid.
Terra used the time away from the sanctuary as a time to breath. With Astrid going insane it is almost to Cicero's levels, she almost wishes she had not been associated with the whole mess. Being the Listener was even more of a trial for her, she had enough trouble of sorting out her own thoughts now she had someone else in there with her. She made a face as she watched her target.
This was supposed to give Astrid time to figure out what she was going to do. What could she possibly try to figure out? Everyone knew what was going to happen with the Listener discovered. Though Terra was not fond of the idea of being Listener, this responsibility meant that she had to work with the Keeper and Speaker closely. The worse of this it was a threat to Astrid. The Listener was taken as the leader of the Brotherhood, if this thought hits Astrid in the head then Terra was in more danger then she wanted to admit. Astrid was adamant at keeping her role of the leader.
Terra was staring at the schedule that she had stolen so that she could fulfill the requirements of this assassination. The schedule like this was easy to follow. She scoffed at the thought of this. People make it too easy. Why would any high official write their schedule out?! It makes it easy to find holes in their route for easy death.
As the target moved slowly in town Terra grinned wickedly. She would do this in the middle of town. The poison daggers were set about her person. She was going to use the lecher's habit against him. Acting like a floozy before him would make him think with the wrong head, she set herself up a few streets before his scheduled walk. The revealing tavern clothing was still useful for hiding only what was needed. She adjusted herself to look like she was spilling out the front of her corset and the slashes in the skirt were just enough to make her thighs visible, these would guide the viewer to more private parts of her body without ever showing her skin there.
She leaned against the wall fanning herself. She had drizzled droplets of water over her to make it look like she had been sweating. The placements of the wet spots were as revealing as anything else. Actually Terra didn't understand how men could see a sweating woman as sexy but she had studied the target long enough to pick up on what he wanted in a view.
Suddenly the target came into view and she set into action. Fanning and shifting herself to get comfortable. After a few moments the target was watching her with some interest. She had his attention and when their eyes met she gave him a rather come hither look. The target had a smile spread across his face as he approached her.
"You there," he called to her but she ignored him and turned away running her hand down her chest, appearing to have lost something from around her neck she panicked.
"Oh no, oh dear…." Terra looked around her while still trying to fan herself.
