Terra's mouth dropped open as she listened to the newest assignment that was for her. Astrid had been overly excited about Terra returning. It actually made her wary of the woman and now that she had heard what was planned for her next assassination, the only thought Terra had was this woman was attempting to have her killed or at the very least make sure that she was loyal to Astrid only.
Astrid explained the general information. She went on about a famous chef and how Terra would impersonate him so that she could poison the Emperor. That's the most of it but Terra would need to talk to Festus Krex about the rest of the events that would happen.
Festus shows Terra the book and goes into depth about the information on what was going to happen. He explained about the concept of getting the information from Anton Virane and using it to kill the real Chef.
Terra hated undercover missions. She was one to wait in the darkness not pretend to be someone else.
When Terra was informing Anton of his options she was thinking on other things. Really?! She thought carefully as the man sniveled at her about wanting to stay alive. Why was this stupid chef's name so secretive? It shouldn't matter about anything if the food was good; she stuck her tongue out when the man started naming off possible bribes. There was nothing he could offer her to get her to not kill him, but at the same time she was just allowing him to think he was going to make this out alive was better for her. She stayed silent when he spoke.
Slowly he revealed the name of the cook. Terra almost missed it because her mind was wondering on other people. She was at wits end with Farkas and now dealing with Cicero weighed heavily on her mind. The little jester had managed to make it into her head and it bugged her.
Maybe she was trying to fill the gap that she had made by trying to rid of Farkas with Cicero?! Terra began shaking her head in shock of this thought. What the hell was wrong with her?! She didn't realize it but she had killed Anton in the haze of her thoughts. She stared at the body and then panicked when she heard people coming down the stairs. She hid under the stairs in the shadows and waited for the people to leave when Anton didn't answer.
Terra's travel to the Nightgate Inn left her feeling empty.
She had not been able to come to any closer from her insane thought process and now she was confused about her feelings. "Plus CICERO?!" she shouted to the mountains. The jester was no way suitable for anything but his job. She watched the birds flying away from the sound of her voice echoing around her.
Terra was staring at the pond and before her appeared an orc. She raised an eyebrow and watched the orc. She looked around in surprise and saw that no one was around. Balagog-Nolob was standing before her. The only reason this made sense was the way he was dressed, the chef's hat, was the major tip off.
It was a pity to take this man's life; he was brilliant with his recipes. This was a requirement of the job so she snuck up slowly and waited for him to take a breath. When he took in the air, she slipped behind him and quickly slit his throat. Holding on to him she slowly dragged him toward the pond. He still attempted to struggle for a bit but when she inserted the knife back into the opening she made the flailing stopped. She searched quickly for the writ of passage, once found she slipped into a safe place and dragged the body into the pond.
Entering the Sanctuary Terra just wanted a warm bath after being wet and traveling.
Astrid was standing before her and grinning like a mad fool. She explained that it was time for Terra to fulfill the requirements as Listener.
Terra struggled with this news, not because of the worry of being the Listener but because of how Astrid was with her. The woman had something planned and with Terra being out she had no time to investigate the woman's actions. Now she had to trust this woman with her life. This was not an ideal situation for Terra and she knew it.
"Take it Terra and use this herb," Astrid snapped Terra back into reality.
With slight hesitation Terra took the herb. She was not sure that this woman would give her the correct herb, maybe it was just a simple weed, but if Terra questioned Astrid at that moment she had this feeling that the woman would fly off the deep end. So with a silent protest she headed out with the herb in hand.
