Terra glared at Commander Maro as he went over the writ of passage. She shifted uncomfortable in the Chef clothing, it was constricting her movements. This made her nervous as she was use to having full range of her body when working. This seemed like a joke to her actually because she was more comfortable in a corset then in this coat. She chuckled to herself.
Maro allowed her through and made a comment about how a chef could wear those clothes all the time.
Terra stayed silent.
When Terra entered an energetic woman came bounding over to her.
"I'm Gianna," she greeted Terra with an enthusiasm of a small child. She was babbling about her excitement and nervousness.
Terra just smiled and nodded every time the woman made a comment or when Gianna stared at her. The woman would even stare fondly as Terra adjusted her hat. "Enough! The Gourmet is here to cook, not talk! Let us begin," Terra bellowed to snap the woman to attention.
Gianna jumped still struggling to control her composure, "Oh! Yes, but of course. Ahem. The Emperor has requested your signature dish – the Potage le Magnifique. I've taken the liberty of getting it started. But the cookbook only says so much, and everyone makes the Potage differently. I would be honored if we could make it… the Gourmet's special way. The base broth is already boiled. We can get started right now. So … which ingredient should I add next?"
Terra sighed; well at least it was cooking. She had actually done this recipe herself back at home. Though the original was slightly bland to her, she could have fun with adjusting the recipe to her liking. She grabbed the sweet-roll and tore into pieces and added it to the broth, stirring slowly because she wanted the bread to dissolve.
Gianna nodded, "Oooohhh…how decadent. I never would have guessed it. What next?"
Terra grinned and remembered the herb; it might be really earthy so she would need to cover the taste up. She stared at the vampire dust.
"Vampire dust? Seriously? Hmm…yes. I guess I can see how that would add a more…earthy texture. And, oddly enough, we do have some on hand… All right. What is next?" Gianna stared at Terra as she stirred when the woman tossed in the vampire dust.
Terra reached for the nirnroot, but Gianna grasped it quickly. The woman before for her was making it difficult to even get anything in the potage without her hands touching it. This would make the herb being snuck in impossible. She continued with adding ingredients, she would just have to flourish the herb in somehow.
"Really? I use Nirnroot as a special seasoning all the time as well. What a wonderful idea. Now what?" Gianna was so happy that the Gourmet was using the same seasonings that she did.
Terra dug into her pocket and held a coin out to Gianna.
"A septim? As in….a gold coin? Really? Ah, I see now. That would give the Potage le Magnifique a slightly metallic – but delicious – aftertaste. Simply brilliant. I have to say, the stew seems done. As anything else, and we may dilute the distinct flavors. So…is that it?" Gianna asked starry eyed.
Terra took out the herb chopped it gently and added the 'special' ingredient.
"What is that, some kind of herb? Are you sure? The Potage tastes perfect as it is. Any other ingredient might…" Gianna questioned Terra.
"Now, Now, Gianna. Who's the Gourmet here?" Terra patted the woman on the shoulder.
"Heh, I'm sorry. Of course. It's your most famous recipe, after all. All right then, your secret ingredient;s been added. And if I may say so… it has been an honor, getting a chance to prepare a meal with, well… the best chef in the entire Empire. I'll carry the stew pot, and lead the way up to the dining room. I'm sure the Emperor and his guests are dying to meet you," Gianna prepped everything for the stew to be taken to the table.
Terra followed after Gianna. She was wary and watched everyone. She noted who was there and where they were there. She also noted the exits quickly. This was going to be tricky, but now her face was visible. She stayed as stoic as she could until her eyes widen with insight. That woman wanted Terra dead! She cursed herself for not figuring it out sooner. She stood silent and waited for the Emperor to take a taste as he did she acted. She started to sneak away so that they would not be able to know where she was going.
Terra was in deep trouble. She ran as fast as she could. She needed to get into hiding quickly.
