"Lincoln, time for breakfast." Called Rita Loud from downstairs.
Lincoln Loud was sitting in his room, the middle child and only son of Rita and Lynn Loud Sr. and the brother to five older sisters. Lori. Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn Jr., and five younger sisters, Lucy, Lana, Lola, Lisa, and Lily.
"another miserable day in the loud house,"
Today was the start of a three-day weekend; he usually would be thrilled, but these days he wanted to be anywhere but the loud house. Three long months had passed since the night when his whole life fell apart. Everything was going seemingly great for Lincoln; he had finally confessed his feelings to his friend Stella and started dating her and helping his sister Luna with her band. Everything was perfect until one day, after leaving Stella's house on a rainy day, he ran into Sam, his sister Luna's bandmate and girlfriend. She was sitting on a bench, crying her eyes out after a falling out with Luna. After taking her to the loud house to help her calm down and dry off, he and Sam spent the day bonding, which ended with Sam tricking him into kissing Lucy's Edwin bust. Things took a turn when Luna came home trying to apologize to Sam but ended up in another argument.
When Lincoln tried calming the situation, he was hit in the eye by luna, giving him a black eye which only worsened her and Sam's fight. Everything hit its breaking point when Mazzy, another bandmate, got an alert on her phone, revealing a picture of Sam and Lincoln kissing posted on the Royal Woods junior high school and high school social media page. Despite Sam's protest that it never happened, Luna slapped Sam across the face, leaving her in shock in a fit of rage.
After that, Stella broke up with him with a slap, and all his friends, including Clyde, stopped speaking to him and shunned him. His home life was no better since most of his sisters chose to blame him or Sam or not get involved. The only sibling who was on his side was his sister Lily. After cleaning up and getting dressed, Lincoln headed down to see his sisters eating their breakfast along with their parents.
"morning, Mom, Dad, Lily."
Lily was instantly happy to see her brother as she waved from her high chair; the same couldn't be said for his other sisters. While Lori, Luna, and Lola gave hateful glares, which he returned, the rest minded their own business as they continued eating. The parents realized the hostility in the air and tried to ease it.
"Morning, Son, I made your favorite breakfast burrito." Said Lynn Sr.
"Thanks, dad."
Sitting at his seat, Lincoln looked down at his breakfast, ready to eat, ignoring what Lola said. Suddenly Lily started fussing, confusing her parents, but Lincoln figured it was a warning.
"what's wrong, sweetie?" asked Rita.
"Mom, Dad, by any chance, did you leave the table at any point?"
"well, I went to get something from the kitchen, and your mother was already in the kitchen when she called you son. Why?"
"I see, Lily. What did they do?
"Luna spit on burrito."
Lincoln looked at his sister, who showed no remorse and was annoyed that Lily had outed her.
"thanks a lot, Lily!"
"and the rest of you were just gonna sit there and watch me eat it? Cute." Said a pissed Lincoln.
"Okay, this has to stop… right now!" demanded Rita.
"I understand you're upset about Sam, but spitting in your brother's food is over the line, young lady! Scolded Lynn Sr.
"it would've served him right!" said Lola.
"he literally had it coming for ruining Sam and Luna's relationship." Agreed Lori
"still feeling the sting of Sam's goodbye slap, Luna?" Mocked Lincoln causing Luna's face to turn red.
Lincoln referred to a month ago, when Sam appeared at the door, revealing that she was moving away that day. After two months of harassment, Sam's mother decided to move Sam and her brother to her hometown in Salem. Sam noted if any good came from this, it brought her family together. Though she apologized for leaving Lincoln to deal with this alone, he assured her he could handle it. Sam wanted to go without seeing Luna but was stopped by her. Luna demands she apologize for cheating on her, but Sam refuses, protesting her innocence again. Luna then makes the mistake of comparing Sam to her father, saying they both would rather run away instead of taking responsibility for their actions. Hearing that enraged Sam, as she slapped luna across the face, hard enough to drop her before telling her that she hates Luna and everything is her fault telling her goodbye and good riddance.
"you white-haired, chip tooth bastard! Why couldn't you have been a miscarriage or a stillborn!?"
Everyone gasped at Luna's statement, except for Lincoln, who just had an emotionless expression that would make Lucy look like she's the most emotional loud.
Moving from the table, Lincoln made his way to the front door with his mother calling to him.
"Lincoln, sweetie, she didn't mean that!" Rita tried to assure.
"oh, she did, mom, but I don't give a flying fuck." Replied Lincoln. "I'm going out." He said, leaving.
Both Parents looked at Luna, angry at her statement, but she still showed no remorse instead seemed proud of what she said.
"How could you say that to your only brother?" yelled Rita.
"I don't have a brother; this family would be better off if he was gone."
"go to your room; you're grounded for the weekend." Demanded Lynn Sr.
Luna rolled her eyes before leaving the table and headed upstairs, not caring instead, hoping that she hurt Lincoln with her words.
"uh, Father, may we all be excused?" asked Lisa, the 5-year-old genius.
"yeah, my boo-boo bear is coming today."
"fine." Said an exasperated Lynn Sr.
The rest of the sisters left the table except for Lily, who stayed with her bewildered Parents.
"Lynn, Honey, what are we gonna do?"
"I don't know, Rita."
"Lincoln, good brother!" said Lily.
Taking his bike, Lincoln made his way; though he seemed hurt by what Luna said in truth, he wasn't. Having endured 3 months of verbal cheap shots from his sisters and everyone who knew the situation hardened Lincoln. Lincoln knew he'd be proven innocent, and Luna would have to eat everything she said one day. Still hungry, Lincoln stopped by Flip's, managing to find something that wasn't years past the expiration date before heading off again. Once in town, Lincoln wondered what he could do for fun. Usually, he'd have dozens of activities lined up for him and his friends, but he had no friends now. Though he was used to being alone, he still missed having friends.
"I wish I had someone to hang out with,"
"yo, Lame-o."
To Lincoln's surprise, he saw his best friend, Ronnie Anne, skateboarding towards him.
"Ronnie Anne, what are you doing here?"
"don't you remember, I was coming for a visit,"
"Yeah, I remember, but I wasn't expecting you until this afternoon,"
"you know bobby is always ready to spend the day with Lori."
The two shared a quick laugh, but Ronnie knew something was up with her friend from his expression.
"are things still bad at home?" she asked with concern
"oh, you know, Luna spat in my breakfast, and my other sisters were gonna let me eat it until Lily warned me, then she said she wishes I was a miscarriage or a stillborn, so typical stuff."
Ronnie Anne couldn't believe that Luna would say something vile to her brother; out of all his sisters, Lincoln always spoke highly of Luna. For her to say something like that was unforgivable.
"What did the rest do?"
"Nothing, though I'm sure my parents will ground her."
"All this for something you didn't do?"
Ronnie Anne is one of the few people who stood by Lincoln, knowing that he would never hurt his sisters like that.
"that's disgusting,"
"Yeah, but I'm used to it at this point." Said Lincoln. "what pisses me off is after everything I've done for my sisters, everything they've done to me, for them to look at me like I am the Villain."
"wow, using teen language, you are mad, but what did your sisters do?"
"do you have all day?
As Lincoln and Ronnie Anne hung out, he started telling her stories about all his sisters and the troubles he's dealt with because of them. He told her about how they constantly meddled in business, the supermarket incident and how he was banned though it was their fault, how they ruined the sweet spot and ate all his chocolate and got them all banned from every pool. By the time they were sitting in a booth at Gus' Games and Grub sharing a pizza, Lincoln finished his story about the luck incident by the afternoon.
"and then they sold my stuff made me wear that stupid squirrel costume for good luck. I almost had a heat stroke."
"all that because you wanted some time to yourself."
"Yup."
Hearing these stories painted his sisters in a new light, a negative one, but Ronnie Anne gained a more profound respect for Lincoln.
"dude, after hearing all this, all I can say is wow." Said an amazed Ronnie Anne.
"yeah, but do me a favor, don't tell anyone."
"why? With everything they've done, they deserved to get in trouble."
"I know, but I don't want to ruin their future or happiness."
"you're a good brother Linc."
"Thanks, Ronnie."
"um, excuse us, that's our booth
The two looked over to see Rusty looking back at them with an annoyed expression; behind him were the rest of Lincoln's former friends, Zatch, Liam, Clyde, and Stella, all glares which Ronnie Anne returned except for Clyde, who was looking away.
"beat it, cheater!" said Zatch.
"Yeah, no cheaters in our booth!" Said Liam.
"get lost, jerks. We were here first!" Replied Ronnie Anne.
"don't bother Ronnie; they're not worth it! Let's go to the arcade."
Lincoln moved out of the booth, pushing past Rusty, Zatch, and Liam as he walked past them, shooting hateful glares at Clyde and Stella. Everyone then turns back to Ronnie Anne, who lingered for a moment.
"uh, your boyfriend is waiting." Said Rusty.
"Yeah, why are you dating a cheater?" asked Liam.
"it didn't take him long to move on." Said Stella.
"we're not dating; I'm supporting my best friend, unlike you assholes." Snapped Ronnie Anne. "You got nerve talking about rebound, considering you flocked to carrot top so fast."
"hey, unlike Lincoln, I'm a loyal boyfriend. Boasted Rusty. "Did you not see the photo? What more proof do you need to see he's a scumbag."
"oh, you mean that obviously fake photo of him kissing his sister's girlfriend? The one that looks like some fag slapped it together using some cheap-ass photoshop app knock-off while watching a how-to video on his phone? That all of you are so gullible to believe?" said Ronnie Anne getting up from the table.
Rusty was offended by that statement, though he didn't show it. Unknown to everyone, Rusty was the one who faked that photo out of jealous spite due to Lincoln dating Stella. At first, unaware of who Sam was, even after finding out, he showed no remorse believing ruining Lincoln's family was justified revenge for Lincoln dating Stella and Sam was just a necessary sacrifice for his greater good. Rusty was even the one who kicked Lincoln out of the group and started dating Stella, catching her on the rebound.
"you know what? I don't care for most of you, but you, Clyde, make me sick; you were his best friend too." scolded Ronnie Anne. "his brother, if you were in Lincoln's shoes and claimed you didn't do it, what would he have done for you?"
"you don't have to answer that, buddy." Interrupted Rusty.
Clyde only hopped into the booth along with the others while Rusty smugly brushed her off. Ronnie Anne was about to leave but decided to give one last message.
"by the way, Lincoln may not want to admit this, but I'm pretty sure it was one of you who made that photo, and when I find out who it was, you're going to get reminded why I'm the queen of pain."
Everyone brushed off her threat, but Rusty was internally nervous but assured himself he wouldn't be caught. Leaving Ronnie Anne shot Clyde one more glare, silently asking the same question again.
'he'd stop at nothing to prove I was innocent.' Thought Clyde shamefully.
Catching up to Lincoln, she saw him playing a game of whack a mole; Ronnie Anne was amazed at how Lincoln was racking up the points.
"dude, you're on fire."
"thanks. I've been playing this a lot lately."
After finishing the game, Lincoln racked up a lot of tickets, much to his delight.
"Alright, I almost got enough."
"what are you aiming for?"
"I'm trying to win that double prize, those twin stuffed bears with the pink and blue bows for Lily."
"I'm sure she'll love them. Want some help."
"please and thank you."
The two went to work playing as many games as they could, racking up points and tickets, plus breaking records in the process. Their combined skills started getting everyone's attention. Even the gang showed up to watch them dominate the Muscle Fish 3D adventure game. Clyde knew this game well as it was one that he and Lincoln were undefeated at, even holding the top score under their combined name: Clincoln McCloud. Lincoln and Ronnie Anne were breezing through the game, their points getting close to the top spot. Finally, they beat the final boss putting them in the spot, making them the new champions; Clyde watched sadly as Clincoln McCloud dropped to 2nd place and the new name RonnieColn was 1st. Stella noticed this and assured him that they'll beat their scores later after they finished up eating. Returning to their booth, the group saw that not only were people in their booth, but they were eating their lunch.
"Finally, I can get those bears."
"go get your prize lame-o. I'll meet you in the eatery."
While Lincoln headed to the prize window, Ronnie Anne headed to the eatery to wait for him. Upon entering, she saw that Clyde and the rest were being bullied by none other than Chandler McCann and his goons, who were eating their pizza. At first, she was going to watch, feeling they deserved it, but when she saw Chandler push Stella pushed to the ground while Rusty cowered in the booth, she knew she had to do something.
"Hey, back off, McCann!" called Ronnie Anne
"mind your own business Santiago."
"dealing with creeps like you is my business now; leave them alone!"
"or what!?"
Chandler then pushed Ronnie Anne to the floor, then he and his goons started laughing; their laughing was cut when Chandler was tackled to the floor by Lincoln, who was in a rage. Before Chandler could react, Lincoln began to beat into him, delivering hard lefts and rights, making him yell in pain. As Chandler's goons rushed to help him, Ronnie Anne tripped one before laying into him herself. While the other tried to pull Lincoln off but was hit in the nose by the back of Lincoln's head, knocking him down. Caught up in the chaos, Rusty convinced everyone to leave, ditching Lincoln and Ronnie Anne, though Clyde was reluctant. Eventually, Chandler and his friends gave up and ran too, leaving Lincoln and Ronnie Anne victorious, but the feeling didn't last long as Gus himself confronted them.
"kids, you know my rule on no fighting, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ban you for a month."
"wait, Gus, this isn't Lincoln's fault; it's mine. Let me explain."
"I'm listening,"
Ronnie Anne began explaining how she tried to stop Chandler from bullying Lincoln's former friends but was pushed over and that Lincoln attacked him because he was defending her. Hearing this softened Gus' expression as he looked a Lincoln before kneeling down and placing a hand on his shoulder.
"son, I understand that you've been having a hard time because of that fake photo, and I respect that you were protecting your friend, but you still broke the rules; however, given the circumstances, I think a lighter would be better. So you are banned for only two days starting tomorrow with a three days probation period."
"Thanks, Gus." Said Lincoln. Picking up his prize for Lily.
They both left Ronnie Anne grabbing her board while Lincoln grabbed his bike and made their way back to the loud house.
"Hey Linc, that was pretty cool how you stood up for me."
"don't worry about it. I wasn't going to let anyone hurt you."
"Really?" said Ronnie blushing a little
"you're one of the few people who still believe in me, I may have lost a lot, but I'm going to do everything I can to protect and take care of what I have left."
Ronnie Anne couldn't help but blush at what Lincoln said as they made it back to they were confronted by Lynn Sr. and Rita. Immediately to their left sat Lincoln's sisters & Bobby, minus Luna on the couch.
"young man, you want to explain why we got a call from Mr. McCann claiming you attacked his son and friends?" asked Rita.
'typical Chandler gets his ass kicked then runs to daddy.' Thought Ronnie Anne
"because I did." Replied Lincoln coldly,
"what's gotten into…."
"Mom, Dad, I know there's a big lecture coming about my attitude lately, but I've had a long day and all I want to do now is sleep can we please do this tomorrow."
Lincoln was about to leave but remembered his present; he gave his stuffed bears to Lily, making her smile, ignoring Lana and Lola's jealous expressions before heading upstairs.
"what's gotten into that boy." Lynn Sr.
"wait, Mr. and Mrs. Loud, let me explain what happened."
Ronnie Anne quickly explained that Lincoln got into that fight to protect her from Chandler. Bobby felt a lot of respect for Lincoln protecting her sister while the loud sisters were surprised.
"Lincoln Hero!" said Lily.
"one act doesn't change that he's always the causing problems," said Lori.
Hearing Lori trying to downplay what Lincoln went through made Ronnie Anne grit her teeth as she narrowed her eyes before walking up to Lori.
"can I talk to you privately?"
"um, sure, Ronnie Anne."
The two went to the kitchen. Lori was confused about what Ronnie Anne wanted to talk about. Bobby wanted to listen in but soon got a call on his phone from his mother and went outside to talk.
"so, what did you want to talk about?"
"The fact that you're a terrible sister and person."
"what?"
"I know everything, Lori, from you threatening to turn Lincoln into a human Pretzel to you and the rest of your sisters locking him out the house and selling his stuff, I know it all."
Lori paled; hearing all her past offenses coming back to haunt her made her nervous as she looked at a pissed Ronnie Anne.
"how?"
"Lincoln told me, he told me everything and after hearing all that I realized how you jerks don't deserve him for a brother and how you don't deserve my brother."
"wait, Ronnie Anne, please don't tell; I don't want to lose my boo-boo bear!"
"Hey babe, are you guys done? I need to talk to Ronnie Anne."
"we'll be right there." Said nervous Lori
"Relax, I'm not going to say anything because Lincoln asked me not to."
"He did?"
"despite how poorly you treat him, he still loves you, more than you ever loved him."
The two went back to the living room, with Lori sitting down next to Leni and Ronnie Anne going to Bobby.
"Okay, listen, sis, I just got off the phone with mom; she said there was an accidental spill on the bridge and that it's closed until they clean up the mess, so I talked it over with the Mr. and Mrs. Loud we'll be spending the night until we get the to cross."
"I'm fine with that."
Leni then noticed the nervousness on Lori's face and became worried.
"Lori, are you okay?"
"We need to have an emergency sibling meeting later tonight."
…Later…
As Ronnie Anne slept on the couch, she wanted to check on Lincoln, so she snuck upstairs, avoiding her sleeping brother. Making her way past the rooms, she noticed one with the light on but didn't care as she gently knocked on Lincoln's door. Lincoln opened the door showing that he was still awake.
"Hey Linc, sorry if I woke you."
"no, it's okay; I was hanging out with Lily."
Entering, Ronnie Anne saw Lily was there too, still loving her new twin bears.
"so I um told your parents the truth, I think you're off the hook."
"Thanks; if I had tried, pretty sure they wouldn't believe me."
"listen, lame-o, don't let anybody, not even your so-called sisters make you feel any less. You're a good person, and don't forget that."
"Thanks, Ronnie.
Ronnie Anne started to blush as she turned towards the door to go back to the couch.
"we'll. I better get back downstairs before bobby wakes up and freaks out cause I'm missing."
"Okay, goodnight." Lincoln as he prepared Lily for bed.
Opening the door, Ronnie Anne was shocked by static before being surprised at what she saw as she looked at Lincoln, who hadn't noticed.
"uh Lincoln, where's your hallway."
"what are you talking about its right…."
Lincoln's words froze in his throat when he saw what Ronnie Anne had seen outside his room. It wasn't his hallway. It was a bridge suspended over a canyon.
