Terra glared at the door. He had the worse timing when it came with events dealing with her and this was topping her list right now. She had managed to calm Cicero down but with this interruption, one could only guess what he would do in response.
She bit back a curse when she felt a sharp pain on her shoulder. The warmth of her blood trickling to the surface of her skin sharpened her sense of urgency to get Farkas away from her mess.
"Terra, I smell your blood, are you okay? I brought your sandwich... The one you left on the table after the," Farkas paused a moment.
"Leave it on the table by the door, I will get it in moment," Terra shivered as she felt Cicero's tongue against her skin. No doubt in her mind he was lapping up the blood.
"But if I leave it here, you might forget it. I would feel better if I handed it to you," Farkas sounded wary.
She could tell he was trying to get her to open the door but she knew that the cut she had right now would turn into something much worse if she made a move for the door. She felt his fingers brush against her skin as he pulled her against his body. She could sense a kind of ownership Cicero had assumed from her being the Listener. The Brotherhood hadn't been so demanding of her, but this poor, insane man had. He expected so much more than she could deliver. She has saved his precious family but he desired more from her and the breath she felt near her ear just reaffirmed it.
"Farkas go, I have spoken enough to you and have no desire to further our fight tonight," she stood there glaring at the door while feeling Cicero's hands on her. Though, maybe if she had been in a different mood she would have thought the gesture romantic, that is until he cut her.
"There is something wrong here," Farkas was now growling gently.
"Yeah, there is and you need to learn to listen," Terra was hesitant to cast as she was really hungry and using spells could cause her to black out in that state, but she slowly used a cold spell and with Cicero touching her there was no waste of energy.
A yelp entered the tense atmosphere and a clank of metal hitting the floor. Cicero's footsteps could be heard as he shuffled away from her.
The real trouble was the sudden sound of Farkas banging at the wooden door. His shouting was incoherent.
Terra turned and watched as Cicero made his escape out the window, but not before slicing the palm of his hand and gliding it across her bed. He cackled madly as he climbed and what Terra could only describe as throwing himself out the window just as the door splintered away.
Farkas was staring out the window as if he knew all that had occurred but did not make a move at all.
"Terra?" Farkas asked without tearing his eyes away.
"I'm fine, I am always fine, Farkas!" She was cursing the only time as she made her way to the bed pissed that the jester had ruined her blankets. "Look at my door!" She struggled with the blankets and yelled at Farkas the whole time.
"Terra, I could smell your blood...I just reacted normally," Farkas said with a hint of pain in his voice, "I can fix the door if that is more important than your life."
"My life wasn't in danger till you brought the sandwich!" She stopped and stared at the blood streak. "No, that is not true. I was not completely sure of the danger but at that moment nothing could have happened." She turned and looked at Farkas, "thank you for bringing me food. Thank you for trying to rescue me even if there was no danger. I appreciate you struggling with me and my issues..."
Farkas had rushed and embraced Terra. His hands stroking her hair and back. His eyes searching her face for some kind of clue. His breathing was ragged from using such force to break down the door or maybe it was the fear that she had been in true danger. He pushed her away and moved to the bed, where in one quick motion took the blood stained blanket and threw it out into the fire.
Terra crossed her arms before her, " I could have washed it."
"His smell would have lasted for a while on it," Farkas said as he watched the blanket catch fire.
"That was one of my favorite blankets," Terra said feeling the heat as the flames engulfed her blanket.
"I'll find a new favorite for you," he answered.
They were both ignoring the giant in the room and it made Terra nervous. She hated to tiptoe around anything.
"Terra, this needs to stop. You are putting yourself in danger for others and never thinking of yourself. Pleaseā¦" Farkas stopped before continuing. "No, I am not saying this right. I have a favor to ask of you, then after those events if you have nothing you want I will leave you to do your business, but if we are brought closer by the experience I will gladly add you on any adventure, request, or charity you are guided to follow."
Terra blinked in shock. He had never given her a possibility that they wouldn't work, he always assumed they were destined for each other. The simple fact of the matter was, he had changed his thinking and this made her curious. "What do you need?" She watched him as he fiddled with his fingers.
"I want to be human again. I wish to put my beast to rest, you have made me realize that I can do many things on my own without relying on the gods to make it possible. Please help me to be cured," he had not been looking at her when he made this request.
"Yes, I will help you, but you know where we need to go and it will be a long trek for us," she explained as she watched him. It made no difference to her to make the trek. She would help anyone in need, she had proven that countless times, but before her was a man not use to asking for help and she knew this was a big event and even more to come at this rate.
