"Harry Potter's broom is cursed! It's rolling over and over as the poor lad hangs on to dear life at his broom's handle. But fear not as he is The Boy Who Lived! I'm sure he'll survive this slight predicament" Lee Jordan's voice boomed throughout the Quidditch field as people looked up and gasped to see Harry Potter dangling in the air holding on his cursed broom.

"Something must've happened when Flint blocked him!" Seamus Finnigan whispered. Hagrid shook his head and worriedly looked up at Harry.

"No- it's Dark Magic, no kid could do that to a Nimbus Two Thousand"

Hermione seized Hagrid's binoculars and started looking around frantically at the crowd, she spotted Snape muttering words as he glared at Harry.

"What are you up to?" Ronald Weasley looked away from a dangling Harry to Hermione, face pale as a sheet.

"It's Snape! He's jinxing the broom!" Ron moaned and looked back at Harry.

"What should we do?"

"Don't worry, I've got this"

Hermione disappeared before Ron could answer. She ran across the stand on where Snape stood and raced on the row behind him not even stopping as she knocked over Professor Quirell upfront. As she reached Snape she pulled out her wand, crouched down, and pointed her wand at the end of the Potions Master's robes.

"Lacarnum Inflamari"

Flames erupted from her wand to Snape's robe and it took seconds for people beside the Professor to notice the flaming robe and scramble around to a panic scream telling him to put it out. Hermione looked up and saw that Harry's broom had stopped rolling around. Her job was done. She hurriedly ran back down back to the other Gryffindor 1st years, in her frenzy she didn't notice she was about to run into someone as she went down the stand. She backpedaled as she collided with the other person.

"Oh I'm so- "

"Mudblood!"

Hermione looked up sharply and saw Draco Malfoy's sneering face. He dramatically patted his robes as if there's dust clinging onto it. Hermione grimaced and stepped on the side to get past him, she needed to see if Harry was okay. But Malfoy stepped on the side to block her.

"What are you doing here Granger, you are supposed to be with your little Gryffindor buddies" Malfoy eyed her suspiciously and Hermione rolled her eyes.

"Get out of the way Malfoy" She sternly told him as she stepped on the other side, her worry for Harry increasing, but again Malfoy blocked her.

"Malfoy!"

"You don't get to tell me what to do Mudblood, I'm supposed to do that" He looks at her like she was dirty, Hermione almost pulled her hair out in annoyance.

Malfoy looked up to see the chaos up above the stand where Snape is still trying to get rid of the flames eating his robes. Hermione's worry was replaced by fear, Malfoy slowly looked back at her smirking. He's going to tell Snape!

"Set a professor's robes on fire didn't you Granger?" Pure malice danced into Malfoy's grey eyes as he glared at Hermione. Her heart was beating fast. As she prepared to make up an excuse when the crowd outside suddenly roared.

"He's got the snitch! Harry Potter receives 150 points for catching the snitch." Lee Jordan's voice once again boomed throughout the Quidditch field as he enthusiastically announced Harry catching the snitch.

"Gryffindor wins!" Madam Hooch's voice soon followed and more shouts and cheers from the Gryffindor students were heard.

Hermione's fear was squashed by relief for Harry and excitement for her House's win. Malfoy's face morphed into dismay and Hermione took the chance to push him and run back to her peers. As she ran towards Ron and the others, she saw Harry in the middle of the pitch waving the snitch. She clapped happily.

"Hermione! Thank god" Ron looked towards her with glee written all over his face, mirroring all of the 1st years beside him. She beamed back in reply.

She suddenly got shivers running down her spine. She looked back to the stand where Snape and Malfoy were. Draco Malfoy was glaring at her, his eyes held fury. And she knew that he wasn't finished with her. Still she looked away. She'll worry about it later, for the moment she'll celebrate along with her House. They won today's match after all.

Hermione was confused. She thought Malfoy would've told Snape already. After getting over the rush of Gryffindor's win, dread filled her as she remembered Malfoy finding out about her setting Snape's robes on fire. Apparently dread followed her, as she prepared herself as Potions class neared. As she entered the classroom. As she took her seat in between Harry and Ron. As she turned down the urge to look back at Malfoy seating two rows behind her. As Snape entered the room. But nothing happened, Snape continued on as normal- tormenting Harry and ignoring her raised hand. She still didn't dare look back at Draco Malfoy. As soon as class was dismissed she rushed out after telling Harry and Ron she'll be at the library, being the first one to get out of the Potions classroom. Hermione never noticed Malfoy's eyes following her as she disappeared at the door. She also expected some kind of reaction from him when he along with her, Harry and Neville were put in detention for being out of their dorms after curfew hours. Nothing but a sneer was all she got from, as she laughed at him when he came towards them screaming and running.

"Are you going home for Christmas, Hermione?" She snapped out of her thoughts and turned her head towards her roommate Lavender Brown who just entered their shared dorm, then back at her loaded trunk beside her bed.

"Ah, yes. Aren't you?" The blonde girl nodded and gestured to her own loaded trunk.

"Let's go down together?" Lavender asked but Hermione shook her head.

"I still have to stop by the Great Hall to find Harry and Ron"

"Oh well, I'll go first. Happy Christmas Hermione!"

Lavender dragged her trunk with her as she waved goodbye, in which Hermione replied with a greeting of Happy Christmas too. She stayed there for another moment just staring at her trunk, then decided to go out too, dragging her trunk with her and proceeding to the Great Hall where she found Harry and Ron playing chess.

"What is that?" Both boys looked at her as she walked towards them. Ron's queen piece easily eliminated Harry's knight and Hermione murmured 'barbaric'.

"That's wizard's chess" Ron smirked at her. "I see you've packed"

"I see you haven't"

"Change of plans, my parents are away to visit my older brother Charlie in Romania" Hermione raised her eyebrow.

"Good. You can help Harry then, search at the library for any information on Nicholas Flamel"

"We've searched a hundred times!" Ron said with a grimace and Harry agreed with a nod. Hermione smirked and leaned towards them as if to whisper something.

"Not in the Restricted Section. Happy Christmas"

She waved them goodbye as she dragged her trunk along with her, disappearing within the massive doors of the great hall. The boys looked at each other and Harry shook his head.

"I think we've had a bad influence on her"

"Granger"

Hermione looked up from her book and her heart almost escaped from her ribcage. She resisted the urge to gasp and stand up abruptly, she tried to put on a blank face. Draco Malfoy was standing in the door of her compartment crossing his arms across his chest. Merlin! Why did she have to sit in an empty compartment? She should have accepted Lavender's invitation to sit with them. Damn her and her book for wanting a quiet and empty place!

"What is it, Malfoy?" Hermione stared at his eyes that held mischief. She would not waver in front of him. Gryffindor courage. Gryffindor courage.

"You owe me something"

Oh someone kill me now!
