If you haven't read book nine, then please don't read this.
We sat in silence, on the blanket of wild grass, looking up at the night sky. Beautiful. The stars winked at us from the above. Questions filled my mind. What was it like to be in Paradise? Mr. Crepsley told me about it, but I've never been able to fully understand it. It was like Heaven, just for vampires and vampaneze. But what of half-vampries like me?If I was to die, would I go to Paradise, too?

"Mr. Crepsley says that when vampires die, we go to a place beyond the stars. Paradise." I found myself say.

"You miss him." It wasn't a question.

But I wasn't done speaking.

"Humans seems to accept that we'll go to Heaven when we die. Well, most of them does."

"You miss being a human." Again, another statement.

"But Steve used to say that stars are the spirits of the dead. He said when we die, we'll become the stars of the night sky."

"You miss him?" This time, a question. A very puzzled and confused question.

"Maybe that's where half-vampires go."

"Huh? You've lost me."

"When humans die, they go to Heaven. When vapires die, they go to paradise. Steve says we become stars. Maybe half-vampires become stars. Somewhere between Paradise and Heaven. Somewhere between sky and the earth. Somewhere between a human and a vampire..."

"For how long have you been thinking about this?"

"Just now."

"So you want to know what happens to a half-vampire who dies?"

I shooked my head. "It doesn't matter. I won't die just yet."

I heard Vancha snort in his sleep. When did he fall asleep? I kept on staring at the stars.

"But I know who just might become a star." I was thinking of Steve.

"I think he'll be trapped on Earth."

"Yeah... most likely..."

We sat in silence, Harkat and I, just watching the star-filled sky.

"Would I ever see them again?"

"Maybe."

I shooked my head again. "If I die, I want to die a vampire. So I won't get stuck in-between."

Harkat shrugged. "That's your choice."

"Yes..." I nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "It's my choice..."
