Season 1 Episode 1 prt1:

(Governor Sheldon visits Eureka, his personal bodyguard, Former Sergeant Conrad Baird, assists in the possible theft of a device from Global Dynamics.).

A limo pulls in the drive way of Eureka's local BB, a man in his sixties in a suit with a red tie climbs out of the back. "This will do.". As he attempted to continue, the other passenger exited the vehicle. A man, a young man, blonde, blue eyes, well built, 6'2 tall. Walking up to the man he said: "Governor sir, allow me to sweep the area.".

The Governor sighed. He likes his bodyguard but he sometimes thinks he pushes it to far. "Go ahead.". The man went in and did his sweep. After five minutes, he spoke over the radio. "We're clear. Send the eagle in.". The Governor walks in and places his bags down. "You got to loosen up a little.". The man only sneered.

"It's my job to insure your safety sir.". The Governor only laughs. "Well, we better leave for my meeting with head of GD. And loosen up, these are good people.". They left the BB and drove to Global Dynamics. When the Governor walked in he was scanned. But the bodyguard was forced to relinquish his weapons. Which was a 9 mil pistol, a combat knife and knuckleduster.

The Governor only sighed and motioned for his guard to walk with him. "Keep your nerve. They don't tolerate with people.". The man nods. "Yes sir.". They arrived at the office and got in. A woman probably in her thirties saw them and stood up. "I am Doctor Allison Blake, head of GD.". The Governor held his hand out. "Governor Sheldon. I am here for inspection on your prototype for possible cure for AIDS?" he asked.

Allison nods. "Yes. Please, follow me.". As they were walking, the man kept his gaze on his surroundings. "Where did you pick up this guy?" she asked the Governor. "Iraq." He answered. When they reached the lab, they saw the device was stolen. "Oh no." she then reached for her radio. "Lockdown the building!" she ordered. With that, all doors leading to the outside was locked.

The Governor and his guard were taken to the office and debriefed. "The building is under lockdown, no one leaves, but we are gonna call in local law enforcement.". The man rose. "With all due respect. My job is to protect the Governor, if law enforcement is aware of the Governor here, it can cause issues.". Allison sighs. "Local Law enforcement already knows he's here. That's why I called them in.".

The man sighs. "I'll need to search them." He pointed out. Allison quirked her brow. "No need.".

Within the hour, Sherriff Carter and Deputy Lupo arrived. Jack walked in and saw the security. "Man, what happened this time? Gas leak?" he joked. Jo Lupo didn't answer him. They moved to the office and knocked twice. The door opened and Jack walked in. "Allison, what seems to be the emergency? Governor Sheldon." He added at the end.

The man stood at attention. "Sherriff Carter?" he asked. Jack nods. "Yeah that's me.". But the man's expression changed when he saw the deputy. "Ah crap! I am screwed." He said. Jo looks at him with her hands on her belt. "Hey Conrad, been a while." She said.

Conrad nods. "Likewise." He said. Jack looks at them both simultaneously. "You know each other?" he asked. Jo nods. "Special Forces like me. Except, last time I checked, you were discharged for disobeying orders." She said.

Conrad growls lightly. "Like I was gonna leave a group of children in the grasp terrorists.". Jo shrugged at his answer. "For what it's worth, it's good to see you.". She walked out and the speechless former Special Forces Sergeant stood there. "Yeah, I am screwed." He said. Allison made a proposal. "Why don't you and the Governor get some refreshments. Café Diems has all you need.".

The Governor liked the idea. Conrad followed his boss. When they arrived, a man with curly hair welcomed them. "Welcome to Café Diems, I am Vincent we'll have you settled in in no time.". And they were given a table in the corner. The Governor was enjoying a cappuccino while Conrad a normal coffee. The bell indicating the door opened made Conrad look. It was Jo. He looked forward. "Is Jo looking in our direction?" he asked. The Governor nods. "She's moving to us, ETA five seconds.".

Jo stood at their table. "This seat taken?" she asked. Conrad shook his head. "Nope.". Jo sat down. "So Conrad, where were you the past six years?" she asked. Conrad then said: "I worked in North and South Dakota for a while until I moved to Washington State and then down here to Oregon.". Jo listened but still had one question on her mind. "Why not just call me? We were friends after all.". Conrad shrugged.

"After the discharge, I thought you would've hated me.". Jo only choked down a laugh. "Oh please, like that would happen, what you did in Iraq, I think it was brave. Like really brave.". Conrad on the other hand didn't agree. "I placed the lives of children in front of those of my unit, I took the fall, they are still in Iraq while I am here.".

Jo moved a little closer to him. "You're a good man, and you were a damn good soldier. Don't loose sight of that.". Governor Sheldon agreed. "He is.". Jo's radio cracked and she answered. "Hey Conrad, wanna join in on the investigation? We could use your expertise.". Conrad thought about it. He didn't see his friend in a while so he thought to himself why not.

Jo and Conrad later arrived at the location. Where a body was found. Jack was investigating what he had learnt, which was nothing. "Got anything Sherriff?" asked Conrad. Jack shrugged. "Well uhmm… … … no, I got nothing.". Conrad then looked at the body. Kneeling next to it inspected it. "Take a look at this. Bullet wound, right through. I think this is a pro.". Jo got the hint. "But that would mean we have a sniper on the loose.". Conrad nods. "Looks like it.".

Jack looked at the wound too. "Huh. You're right. Nice job." He said. Conrad got up. "The device is designed to cure AIDS right? What if our thief plans on selling it?" he asked. Jack shrugged. "With the right buyer, I would say millions." He guessed.

"Try Billions." Came Allison's from behind. "We could be talking of a professional thief along with a device worth atleast ten billion dollars.". Conrad thought on it. "Jo, if you would buy such a thing, what would you do with it?" he asked her. Jo considered her answer. "I would place it into production. Manufacturer more of them.". Conrad snapped his fingers. "Or weaponize it?". Jack got an idea.

"No." said Fargo. Jack sighed. "Come on, if that device gets sold, we are in a heap of trouble.". Conrad cracked his knuckles and stood over Fargo. "Listen here little man! I don't care who you are or what you are doing here, but if you don't do as the Sherriff says, I will beat you up so hard even the best trained sniffer dog won't be able to find you.". Fargo nods at the threat. "I can do it. I can look for any strange websites.". Conrad smirked and pats Fargo on the shoulder. "That wasn't so hard now was it.". As Conrad attempted to leave, Jo walked up to him. "Nice move. I forgot how good at intimidating people you were." She said.

Conrad chuckled. "I had practice.". Jo then decided on: "So, staying somewhere?". Conrad nods. "The local BB.". Jo nods. "It's late, wanna grab a bite?" she asked. Conrad looks at her. "Asking me out huh?" he asked teasingly. Jo shrugged. "Maybe.". Conrad nods. "Sure, I'll buy.". Jo corrected him. "It's free." She said.

"Oh."

Dinner was good. Jo liked reconnecting with her old Special Forces buddy. "How are the guys? Jacin, Tobias, Trevor, Dillan and Aiden?" she asked. Conrad shrugs. "Hadn't spoken to them in three years. Sense they got deployed for Afghanistan and I got transferred to Oregon.".

Jo lend back info her chair. "I hadn't spoken to them in a while either. This place is super top secret after all.". Conrad groaned. "Do you know how many forms I had to sign to just drive past the 'Welcome To Eureka' sign?" he asked. Jo laughed. "Mayor Deacon's idea.". Conrad frowned. "The former engineer in space shuttles?" he asked.

"Correct. I am Henry Deacon, call me Henry.". Conrad got up and shook his hand. "Conrad Baird.". Henry nods. "Nice to meet you. I see Jo asked you out.". Conrad felt a little nervous. "I uhmm…" he never finished his sentence for the waitress named Zoe arrived with their dessert.

"Here you go, enjoy.". She walked off and Henry chuckled. "No answer is required. I would say, if Jo asked you out, you better not make her angry." He advised. Conrad shrugs. "I know. I served with her once. Iraq.".

Jo's phone went off and she answered. "Deputy Lupo. On my way.". She tugged on Conrad's shirt and he fell in line with her. Fargo learnt an auction was held and was in place for the device. The location was an old warehouse on the highway. Jo had some kind of shotgun while Conrad used a M-16. Jack had some kind of EM-Pulse weapon.

Infiltrating they announced themselves. The buyers claimed they had no idea what was going on, but Conrad's pissed expression was enough.

"It's not here!".
