Season 1 Episode 3:

(Conrad is settling into Eureka, being a new deputy it is up to Jo to show him the ropes. While Carter investigates a pest problem.).

Jack and Jo walked into the Sherriff's Office talking about their recent pest problem. But when they walked in, they saw a third desk, next to the jail cell. And sitting in the chair of that desk was a man reading a WW2 Fiction Novel. The book lowered to reveal a smiling Conrad. "How you doing guys?" he asked.

Jack smirked from behind. While Jo was surprised. "How did, when did?" she couldn't believe it. Conrad then got up to be in a deputy uniform. "Got a new job. A permanent one." He said with a broad grin. Jack pats Jo on the shoulder. "You show him the ropes, I will handle the pest control problem.".

When Jack left, Jo smiled big and Conrad got out of his desk. "You look like you want to hug the life out of me." He held his arms out. "Bring it.". Jo jumped him and hugged him tight. Conrad placed her down and then said he got the new job when the Governor realized how much he liked working here on the case.

Jack was back into the basement of Fargo's house. "How many rats did you say were down here?" he asked. Fargo then tried to count. "I lost count." He said. Jack could only groan. "Great.". Jack lifted a box and atleast fifteen rats came running all over the floor. Fargo jumped onto a chair while Jack only counted. "Fifteen. I'll get the traps.".

Jo and Conrad were walking down main street on the sidewalk. Conrad was reading a booklet on the work schedules and pay grade. "I can live with a G-3 paygrade.". He kept reading. "Work starts at 08h00? I usually started work at 06h00.". Jo shrugged, she kept both hands on her belt. "Well, adaption is needed.".

Conrad chuckled. "Well, I am a hard worker." He boasted. Jo chuckles at his comment. "True. So, have someone special in your life?" she asked. Conrad shook his head. "Nope. Single, why?" he asked. Jo shrugged at his question. "Curious.".

Conrad chose to ignore that fact. As they were walking, a dog raced after them. And a middle age man chased after him. "Get back here you!" the man screamed in a thick Australian accent. Conrad looks at the man and to Jo and back. "Who's that guy?" he asked. Jo laughed.

"That's Taggart. He is an animal specialist. I went on a few dates with him. Didn't work out." She said. Conrad quirked his brow. "I didn't know you were into middle age men." He teased. "That why you keep eyeing the Sherriff?".

Jo gave him the death glare. "First off all, he has a sixteen year old daughter, he is married to Allison Blake. And he is NOT my type." She listed. Conrad shrugged. "I never implied that he is. All friendly teasing." He admitted. Jo punched him lightly in the shoulder. They both agreed to stopping at Café Diems. Jo ordered her usual while Conrad asked for a normal coffee, milk, two sugars.

Vincent took the order happily. Conrad was sitting at the counter while looking at Jo. Jo noticed and quirked her brow. "What?" she asked. Conrad shrugged. "Nothing, just, I always thought you looked pretty when you smile." He admitted into the blue.

Jo blushed at the complement. Vincent gave the coffees to go. And they kept walking. While walking, a woman was working on the power lines. Her hover craft failed and tipped her over. She fell. Conrad reacted fast by handing his coffee to Jo and ran to catch the woman, sliding on his knees he caught the falling damsel bridal style.

Everyone in the streets applauded at him while Conrad placed the woman gently on her feet. "Thanks everyone. Thanks." He walked up to Jo and took his coffee. Jo was impressed by his actions. "Wow, you reacted fast. As always.". As they walked on, the woman asked Henry who was close by. "Who is that man?". Henry crossed his arms. "That is the new deputy. Deputy Conrad Baird.".

Meanwhile, Jack just finished laying the traps. So hiding behind some boxes, Fargo behind him, Jack waited for the rats. Once they were out, Jack activated the traps. The rats got stunned and were lying on their backs. Jack and Fargo cheered but the victory was short when the rats started running again.

"OH COME ON!".

Jo was watching Conrad handling his first case. A local was complaining about Big Ed's music. While Big Ed complains of the local breaking in to cut his speaker wires. Conrad made it simple.

"No music outside in your fields after 18h00, and if I see you breaking in again, I will have you locked up. Understood?" he said loud and clear. Big Ed agreed and so did the local. Jo was impressed, he was learning.

"Not bad, for a rookie." He added at the end. Conrad snickered. "What's next?". The next problem he had to solve was the fact of a bar fight broke loose in Café Diems. The two who fought were teenage boys. Conrad sorted it out easily. He told them they were to shake hands and leave and NEVER dare fighting otherwise they will get expelled and locked up for a week.

After that case, both Conrad and Jo were chilling in the office. While she was reading some Military book, Conrad was listening some Rock music. He kept one ear open for encase. As he was getting to his favourite song, the phone rang. Jo got it before he could. "Deputy Lupo. Alright.".

Apparently, Jack was running out of ideas to catch the rats. But not Conrad. Taking a piece of cheese from Fargo's kitchen he placed it on the floor. The rats raced to it. Conrad then took the EM-PULSE weapon and shot them. The rats were all stunned.

Jo phoned Taggart and he took the rats to the woods. With the job done and shift over, all three of them, hanged out at Café Diems. Conrad liked his job, and couldn't wait for some excitement.
