Season 1 Episode 5:
(Kevin, Allison's son, meets Deputy Baird. And instantly forms a connection with him. The question is, how?)
Another day in Eureka. The Sherriff's Office was quiet, GD working on some crappy experiment, Kevin is at school, and Zoe as well.
As Jack was reading some magazine, Jo was reading a Military book and Conrad was sketching. As the three of them were minding their own business, Allison called Jack to ask if he could grab Kevin at school. Jack got up and left the office.
Not paying attention, Conrad kept on sketching. When Jack was really gone, Jo placed the book down and looks at Conrad. "Wanna go have some fun?" She asked him. Conrad grinned, that signature grin that always made him look cute to Jo. "Spar?" he asked.
In the gym boxing ring, Jo lifted her fists, but Conrad stood there relaxed in nothing but kaki short sleeved trousers and a sleeveless shirt. To be honest, Jo wasn't paying attention, she was admiring his arms.
But she shook it off and struck with a right hook punch. Conrad used his hands to catch her arm and then pulled her to the floor where she was on her knees and her arm behind her back. Conrad smirked. "Still with the right hook? How many times did I kick your ass with that move?" he asked. Jo smirked as well. "Who said this was my move?" she asked.
Using her leg, she swiped his legs from underneath him and knocked him onto his back. She placed her knee on his chest. "I learnt from your tactics.". Conrad had to admit, he was impressed, but the wrong words accidentally left his mouth. "Hot." he said. Jo of course heard him and looked at him questionable.
At that moment, Fargo walked in also wearing a sleeveless shirt. He saw Jo and immediately went for the heavy weights and set them on ninety pounds. He tried to lift it but his arms were twigs, he kept trying and his face turned red. Jo and Conrad both couldn't help but found it funny.
After the workout, they both went for a run. Four miles later, they both stopped at the bridge and watched the water. Conrad really liked hanging out with Jo, it was great for him. "Race you back to office?" Jo challenged. Conrad smirked. "You're on.".
They raced back to the office and ended up with a tie. They laughed as they sat down to rest. At that moment, a teenage kid, around thirteen strolled in. "Oh, hey Jo. How're you doing?" he asked. Jo smiles at him. "Hey Kevin, I am doing great. Did you meet Deputy Baird?" she asked. Kevin looks at Conrad and held his hand out.
"Call me Conrad." Conrad introduced himself. Kevin shook his hand. "Call me Kev." he said. Jo then got a call and then went to investigate. Conrad decided to get to know his boss's stepson. So after a nice talk Kevin had to go home.
So Conrad sat there alone. He was about to call it a day when his PDA rang. "Deputy Baird. On it.". Apparently, there was a break in at Jack's house. But what was weird was that the house was an underground bunker. Arriving he noticed the door was halfway open, walking in gun in hand, he moved slowly to find Jack and Allison relaxing on the couch with Kevin doing his homework.
"Uh? I thought there was a break in." he said. Jack then pointed to the roof, the glass was melted. "Some moron melted my roof." he said. Conrad looks at the glass. "But I thought the crystalized glass was meant to be tougher then that.". Jack shrugs. "As did I.".
Kevin got up and points to the roof. "With a high radio frequency, you can heat the glass causing it to melt. But the amount of energy would be humongous.". Conrad snapped his fingers. "A fusion powered generator?" he asked. Kevin nods. "Yeah, that can work.".
Both Conrad and Kevin started right away. They worked well as a team. They pinpointed it by three known generators. "Here are three locations Kevin and I could work out on." Conrad started. "These three generators are roughly around exactly three miles from the smart house. They split in groups.
Jack and Kevin took one, Conrad and Jo the other. Henry and Allison the last one.
As Conrad and Jo found their generator, it was working perfectly. "Not this one, check yours. Baird out." Conrad said and Jo walked up to him. "So, how does it feel being a deputy in Eureka?" she asked. Conrad shrugs. "To be honest, I like it, I got one of my best friends to help me out, there is enough action, I actually get along with my boss.".
Jo nods at the thought, she remember working in Eureka, she was a little uncomfortable. But she learnt the basics and easily adapted. Conrad did it way faster then her, but yet again, he did a lot of jobs in the past six years.
Her PDA then rang and she answered. Another incident occurred. This time, there was a casualty, power line technician. Jack was first to arrive at the scene. "The victim is Walter Barry. Graduated Tesla Advanced School last year. Poor guy.". Conrad sighs. "Looks like he took a voltage. 660 Watts of it.".
Jo seemed confused. "But the power lines are all connected to the generators, if something goes wrong, they go on automatic shutdown." She pointed out. "Unless the same frequency that melted the crystalized glass caused this.".
Conrad understood her. "Sabotage?" he asked. Jo nods. "If it is, we can deal with a scientist that has lost it.". Jack nods at the comment. "Wasn't there a promotion for head of section seven?" he asked. That made Jo think. "Allison would know.".
At GD, Allison was in fact checking. "With Doctor Paxton retiring as head of section seven, anyone would want that position. But it is a little more complicated then that.".
Jack then asked. "We are focussing on one target, who has been lately, desperate for the promotion?". Allison then got a name. "Doctor Sally Wiser. She is specialized in radio frequency generation. She is the only one that can pull this off.".
Jo and Conrad headed for section seven, there, they found Doctor Wiser working on her laptop. "Doctor Wiser?" asked Jo. The woman nods. "Yes." She said nervously. Conrad stepped forward. "Are you aware of the chaos going on outside this lab?" he asked. Wiser shook her head. "No.".
"Are you interested in being head of section seven?" he asked. Wiser only snorted. "Everyone in this section is.". Conrad said: "Even willing to jeopardize the safety of the locals?" He asked.
That made her nervous. "N-not that I am aware off.". Jo then looks at the laptop. "Conrad, take a look at this. All these are radio waves, look. Jack's house, Main Street. Even the generators.". Conrad then turned around. "I think you are under arrest." He said, pulling his cuffs off of his belt.
Wiser was in jail and claiming her rights. "I have rights!". "You have the right to shut the hell up, so help me Almighty use that one!" Conrad spoke louder and more irritated with every word. Kevin walked in with his laptop with his stepdad behind him. "So, I traced the frequency to a signal tower about north from here.".
Henry was on his way to shut it off. The DoD was altered and Doctor Wiser was arrested for conspiracy for manslaughter, Property damage and a few other things. Allison finally made the decision of making Biologist Martin Chesney head of section seven.
After the day, the group was hanging out. Jack, Kevin, Conrad and Fargo were playing video games while Allison, Jo and Zoe were playing with Jenna. Henry and Grace were spending time with each other.
It was a great day.
