Season 2 Episode 1:

(A heist caused Conrad to open a few doors. Revealing his past. To the time he was an agent for Warehouse 13.)

Conrad was at the Office; Jo was still with her brothers sense they are deployed by the end of the month. Jack had a matter to deal with, leaving Conrad the only available deputy. And the Acting Sherriff. As he was sitting there, his PDA rang. "Deputy Baird. On it.".

He arrived on the freeway to find three bodies, Government agents. Conrad knelt down as Henry was scanning the bodies. "These men didn't die of natural causes. They drowned with in their own lungs.". Conrad then had a bad feeling about this. "Bag and tag everything. Call me when you got something.".

He was now at home, washing his face. He swore he knew what caused their deaths. But he couldn't place his tongue on it. When he turned around, he found a woman standing behind him. "Mister Baird.". Conrad sighs as he walked to his kitchen. "Misses Frederick. I told you I was done working for you.".

Misses Frederick then said: "You know what caused these men's deaths.". Conrad nods. "So McPherson is back? Told you we should've killed him.". Misses Frederick then said: "The Warehouse needs you, the team needs you.". Conrad the said: "I am not a Warehouse Agent anymore! Remember why I got fired in the first place!?".

Misses Frederick wasn't taking 'no' for an answer. "The organization that Beverly Barlow has began, has taken McPherson under their ranks, and only you can stop it. Stop McPherson, you make a victory against her organization.".

Conrad had to admit, it sounded promising. "I'll need to think about it.". When he turned around to grab himself a cup, he turned back to see her gone. "I hate it when she does that.".

He returned to the station and went through all the files he had on the heist. Something called a fusion laser tracker was stolen, along with batteries for GD backup systems. He didn't understand any of these things.

"I am gonna get a headache.". He got up and went to grab a cup of water. He felt a pair of arms going around his waist. "Jo, how's my girl?" he asked. Jo placed a trail kisses on his neck. "With my brothers heading home. Means I got you to myself.".

Conrad liked the sound of that. "Sweet.".

But as he was gonna kiss her, his phone rang. Not his PDA, his phone. Answering it, the voice on the other end scared him. "Hello, darling.". Conrad swallows hard. "H.G, how did you get this number?" he asked. H.G only laughed. "Oh you and your questions. Liked the little present I left you?". Conrad really didn't like that. "Killing government agents as a present isn't very thoughtful. So you and McPherson are working with Barlow now huh?" but the call ended.

"Damn it.".

Jo needed to know. "Conrad? Something you aren't telling me?". Conrad looks at her an sighs. Knowing she deserved the truth. "There's somewhere we need to go.". So, getting into Conrad's Cruiser, they drove. All the way to South Dakota. Jo didn't like this. "Where are we going?" she asked. Conrad sighs. "Remember when I said after my discharge I jumped from job to job in South Dakota? I lied. What I did was classified and I couldn't tell anyone.". Jo frowned. "What did you do?".

Conrad then pulled up in front of what looked like a old rusty building. "I was an agent, for Warehouse 13.".

This took Jo by surprise. Her boyfriend was an artefact hunter? Why didn't Fargo recognize him before? Fargo had this huge crush on Claudia Donovan after all. They both got out and Misses Frederick was suddenly at the door. "Welcome back, Agent Baird.". Conrad stopped. "Misses Frederick, this is Jo Lupo. She will be assisting me on this one.".

Misses Frederick nods lightly and the door opens by itself. When Conrad turned to he saw she was gone. "I really hate it when she does that.". He walked in with Jo behind him. They reached a tunnel with bars marked 'Explosive'. Jo winced. But Conrad then said: "As long as you don't touch it, you're save.".

They walked up to a door. Conrad saw a number pad. "Sense when was that there?" he asked. But then he chuckled. "Claudia.". So he punched in a code only Claudia would use:

0.9.6.9.

The door opened and three people with Tesla guns were aimed at him. "Not the welcome I was hoping for." He said. But the guns were lowered and a man stepped forward. "Conrad!" he hugged him tight. Conrad hugged back. "Pete! Buddy! Look at you." He exclaimed. Then a middle-aged man stepped forward. Conrad smiled. "Artie. Look at you.". Artie shook Conrad's hand. "Conrad, I never expected to see you again. But it really is great to see you.".

Conrad turned to the teen in the room. "Claudia. Look at you.". Claudia hugged him as well. "How's my former Warehouse agent doing?" she asked. Conrad turned to the last person in the room. "Myka.". Myka hugged him too. "Welcome back.".

But there was one person missing. "Where's Steve?" Conrad asked. Artie then pointed to his computer screen. "Germany. Retrieving The Iron Cross. It possess the power to make people violent. In a very dangerous way.".

Conrad groaned. "Yikes, trust me Jo, artefact exposure is a pain.". Jo only looked at him sceptical. "You got some explaining to do.". Conrad nodded at her. "Later. I got a job to finish. Three years late.".

As Claudia was catching up with Jo, Conrad was going through old documents of McPherson and H.G Wells. Pete was losing patience. "I am sorry but I don't see anything." But his attention was drawn to Jo Lupo. "So, she's hot.". Conrad turns his gaze to Jo. "Yeah she is.".

Pete then decide to strike up a conversation. "So, you and Jo… …". Conrad nods. "Yep.". Pete then said: "Sweet, how long?". Conrad answered swiftly. "Nearly a year.". Pete then found something. "Got it. The ring of Poseidon.".

Conrad sighs. "I hate that artefact. THAT THING NEARLY KILLED ME!". Pete sighed. "I know, we were there.". Conrad groaned. "The sooner we take this organization down, the better.".

Claudia kept babbling on epic artefact hunts Conrad completed. "There was that one time where he and Steve swapped bodies, that was hilarious. Turned out the artefact was part of a set. We needed to swap the heads. Oh! And this other time there was this pen that could like make anything you write happen, Conrad used it to save my life. And this other time he-" but Jo cut her off. "You know, uhmm, we never talked about how he got the job." Jo tried to stop her from all the artefact hunts.

Claudia shrugged. "Yeah I don't know how that happened.".

Myka walked in and watched as Pete and Conrad found something. "You two got something?" she asked. Pete nods. "Oh yeah. Take a look at this.". He handed the file to Artie. "The ring of Poseidon. Makes sense. This artefact has the ability to-" but Conrad stopped him. "We know how it works.". Artie nods. "Right. But if McPherson has it, we need to act quick.".

Jo then asked: "Who is McPherson?". Conrad sighs. "He's a reckless son of a bitch, once a Warehouse Agent. He then became an international threat.". Jo knew the thought, Beverly Barlow was the same.

Conrad was about to leave when Artie called him over. "Conrad, you will need this.". Artie then handed him Conrad's old gear. His Tesla, badge, Farnsworth and neutralizer. Conrad sighs. "I am not permanently back you know." He reminded him. Artie nods. "I know.".

A few hours later, Conrad was walking through the streets of Rapid City, South Dakota. He was trying to contact an old informant of his. As he was walking, his Farnsworth made that argh-argh dial. Answering it, he saw Artie on the screen.

"Conrad, you found him yet?".

"Not yet, I am tracking down an old informant of mine.".

But then Jo popped onto the screen. "You have an informant?".

Conrad nods as he spoke: "Yep. Guy knows his stuff. Look, I'll call when I got something.". Hanging up he walked into an old Antique shop. An elderly man stood behind the counter. With a smile the man said: "Special Agent Conrad Baird.".

Conrad returned the friendly gesture. "Well, I am not secret service anymore. Any word on McPherson while I was gone?". The old man nods. "I heard he got busy, teamed up with this scientific group trying to… "protect" humanity against threats unknown.". Conrad crossed his arms. "Anything recent?".

The old man nods, handing a photograph. "I saw him lately, talking to this man.". Conrad took the photograph and looked at it, the man on it, gave him a surprise. "Damn it. It's my father.". The old man nods. "I heard McPherson claims to have found the cure for cancer.".

Conrad groans. "Christian Barnard's scalpel. I heard of this artefact. Has the ability to cure heart issues, but if you tweak on it, it can cure cancer.". Conrad couldn't believe it, there was a cure to his father's cancer? He's got to get his hand on it.

The old man gave his last bit of information. "They hold a meeting at 12:30 tomorrow at the abandon hospital.". Conrad took the instructions and thanked the old man.

Leaving he used his Farnsworth to contact the Warehouse. "Alright, listen up. My dad is involved but there is a chance he could be used. There is an artefact that can save his life.". Artie knew what he was talking about.

"Christian Barnard's scalpel.".

Conrad nods. "I am going after them, Jo, call the boys. I got a plan.". Jo, who was only visible on a part of the screen, smiled. "Oh this is gonna be fun.".

The next day, Conrad found a string of cars outside an old factory. Taking his tesla out he walked to the guard. "Hey!" he called out when he stun him. Hiding the body in a trash bin he kept walking. Another guard saw him who he just stun.

He kept walking.

Meanwhile, Jo was flying a helicopter, in the hold was a unit of highly trained soldiers. She was flying as fast as possible.

Conrad was at the door where he found a group around a table. Checking the tesla's battery, he jumped them. "This meeting has been cancelled.". The people were McPherson, H.G Wells, Beverly Barlow and Conrad's father.

Conrad's father looked at his son with confusion. "They can cure my cancer." He protested. Conrad snapped. "They are using you." He then pulled out a radio. "Jo, how far out?". But then the windows broke and the unit of soldiers jumped them. Jo entered through the door behind him and said: "Right here.".

Conrad placed his tesla away. "Hey guys. Been a while.". The unit after arresting everyone waved at him. Yes, this is the unit Conrad once commanded in his special forces days.

The load-up was made and Conrad had the scalpel in hand. "Don't flinch.". Conrad's dad only said: "Do it.". Conrad then made a slight cut with the artefact on his father's skin. The paramedics did t3sts to find all the cancer cells dead.

His father couldn't believe it. "We are gonna talk.". Conrad chuckled. "I figured.".

After an hour, Conrad's father understood. "So… … you went from U.S Army Ranger Special Forces to Secret Service to Governor Bodyguard to Deputy?" he made himself clear. Conrad nods. "Yeah, my life is full of surprises.". Conrad's father then felt the scar where Conrad had to cut. "You sure my cancer is cured?" he asked. Conrad nods. "Pretty sure. That thing saved my life once.".

Before Conrad and Jo left for Eureka, Conrad went to give back his old gear. As he handed it in to Artie, Artie told him to follow him. Walking to a part of the Warehouse, Artie punched in on a keyboard some digits. The door opened and Conrad walked in. It was his home back when he lived at Leena's BB. He sat on the bed as he took in the surroundings.

He walked up to a drawer and opened it, duplicates of all his belongings were made. He pulled out a photo of him and the team. They were all sitting at a Barbeque.

Him and Pete grilling the meat, Myka and Leena with her books, Claudia and Steve solving a puzzle, Artie was holding his plate.

He smiled. "Some things you just miss.". Walking out he hugged Artie. "Thank you.". Artie looks at his old agent, but most importantly, his friend. "Did you tell Jo?" he asked. Conrad shook his head. "Not yet.". Conrad walked up to the door when he stopped, turning around to see Misses Frederick. "Thank you." she said. Conrad nods. "This was my home. Still is in some way.". When he turned to face the door, he quickly looked back to see her gone. "Wish I knew how she does that.".

With final goodbyes he and Jo left for Oregon. They drove for hours in silence. But when they pulled up at a gas station, Jo broke the silence. "So, why did you leave the Warehouse?".

Conrad sighs as he began: "I broke rules, rules that caused people pain. I… … I had feelings for someone, someone from the Warehouse. It clouded my judgment. When H.G Wells took control over her, I couldn't finish the job, I was the cause for near world-destruction. I got fired and… … you know the rest.".

Jo completed the story: "You became a body guard.". Conrad nods. "Three years in service of the Warehouse. Three for the governor. Now a deputy.". Jo places her hand over his hand on the wheel. "It's gonna be okay.".

Conrad nods. "I'll fill up.". He got out as he went to fill the tank of his Cruiser.

(Do you wish for a prequel? Where we learn more of him as a Warehouse agent?).
