This was for Vivi's Birthday a while back. And now it is part of my posting spree.
I'm sorry that it's only a drabble, at least the Birthday Girl enjoyed it.

-Unexpected-
Rei could feel his eyes closing, even as he unlocked the front door and pushed it open. He ungracefully dropped his coat on the floor, kicked his shoes aside, and undid the clasp at the tip of his hair. As the bindings unraveled, he yawned, and his sore feet lead him towards down the hall.
''Kai...'' He called out, in his fatigued voice.
Rei looked into the kitchen, on his way by and cringed. He had been slaving in one all day and all he wanted was to cuddle up to his lover and catch up on some much needed sleep. Kai was in one of those moods again, which meant that sleeping only came in between intervals of sex.
There were no signs of Kai and that could only mean one thing; he was waiting in the bedroom. Rei loved the attention; he had to admit. Kai always knew just how to wake him up, or coax him into making love, a few times a night. He decided to stretch, just in case he would be jumped upon entering. He would be ready for it. A light, coy smile already started to curve into his lips, just at the thought. He may have been tired, but he was not too tired for a romp beneath the covers.
Besides, there was nothing he wanted more than to cuddle into Kai's chest afterwards, pur in content and hear those magical words whispered into his ear.
And they even had reason to celebrate.
The living room was dark and so Rei just passed by it, without even glancing. However, mid way, the light switched on and there was a chorused cheer.
''HAPPY BIRTHDAY, REI!''
Everyone, and there was just about everyone, in Rei's living room.
Kai stood in the middle, amongst their family and friends and smiled.
He may have been a day early, or technically, 4 hours, but it sure was worth it, to see the surprised expression on Rei's face.
