A/N: Messages on the 'computer screen' in Momonga's head/console will be in bold.

Yggdrasil was a DMMORPG developed in the year of 2138, in other words, a game wherein you could play using a virtual headset and immerse yourself into it. It was extremely popular, but all things come to an end, and now, ten years after its creation, the game was shutting down.

Momonga was the leader of Ainz Ooal Gown, one of the top guilds in the game. He had invited any of his remaining friends to join him in their guild base, but only one of them arrived and had to leave very quickly afterwards. But Momonga was adamant that he would stay logged in until the very end.

Momonga sat down on the Throne of Kings in the guild Throne Room one last time, admiring the guild base that he and his friends had made. Alas, that none of them were around to see the sun set on Yggdrasil, but it couldn't be helped.

As the clock ticked towards midnight, a popup appeared on his screen.

Congratulations! Thank you for sticking with Yggdrasil until the very end. You are one of the few lucky players who have been chosen to beta test the new game that is in development by our company. Would you like to try a demo of the game out?

Suzuki was a bit surprised. Was this the Yggdrasil 2.0 that some people were spreading rumors about?

Well, he did need to wake up early tomorrow for his job, but on the other hand, this was an opportunity to try out something no one else had got to do.

He selected Yes as an option and then another message appeared.

The Waves of Calamity

O hero! Thank you for coming to our world! You have been chosen as one of the four Cardinal Heroes of Legend!

Choose from amongst four weapons: the shield, the sword, the bow, or the spear.

Fight enemies and level up! Absorb monster parts into your chosen weapon to upgrade it and unlock new weapons!

Momonga's eyes flitted across the screen.

Honestly, this felt like a very generic backstory to a game. Granted, Yggdrasil had no lore to speak of and you were just dumped into it, but still, couldn't the devs think of something a bit more original for their next project?

Resetting your stats. Please wait...

Momonga nearly felt like screaming as his level was reduced to one and all of his items unequipped. He had thought for a second that if this new game was based off of Yggdrasil's engine, it might be possible for him to enter it max levelled. Clearly the devs would not be that kind.

And hold on a minute- his avatar had changed!

He looked down at his hands and realized they looked familiar- on the back of his left hand was a faint scar he had gotten when he was six.

The devs seemed to have used the data stored in his console to make an avatar that looked just like him!

That was illegal, but before he could process that he noticed that he had a shield strapped to his right arm.

Did not he not even get the chance to pick his weapon? On seeing the choices his first reaction had been, "All of them sound cool except for the shield. That sounds lame- who fights with just a shield?" Just his luck to be stuck with it.

Sorry! An error has occurred! Redirecting you to technical supp-

Oh, so they couldn't even get something as simple as this done without screwing it up?

12:00:00

And then the clock struck twelve.

Instantly, Momonga felt himself being torn apart.

There was no real pain function in the game for obvious reasons, but this was all too real and extremely excruciating. It felt as if his body was being torn into two.

One force, the shield, was lifting his right arm upward. Another force came from the Throne of Kings which was pulling him downward.

Instinctively, he tried to lower his arm and the sensation vanished as he felt himself suddenly crash downwards into his seat. It felt like the 'fake falling' one might feel one falling asleep.

"Huh? What just happened?"

Momonga could not see the usual game screen.

"[GM Call]," he said, hoping to contact one of the devs. Not only was this met with nothing, he noticed that there was as a matter of fact something on the lower corner of his screen. It was a small arrow, and the moment he looked towards it more information popped up.

Suzuki Satoru: Shield Hero Level 1

Equipment: Small Shield (Legendary Weapon)

There was a small graph detailing his stats, which were very clearly tilted towards defense.

He saw a small icon that said 'Help' and when he looked at it something popped up.

Reincarnated into a new world as the Shield Hero, you must face the Waves of Calamity head-on! Get companions to help you on your quest, level up, and upgrade your shield!

That was it. The 'tutorial' just had that much in it. Granted, it was more informative than that of Yggdrasil, but come on!

But there was definitely something off as Momonga realized he was still in the Throne Room of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

Come to think of it- why was his name listed as "Suzuki Satoru", his real name, instead of "Momonga?" The devs must have had access to his real name, but again, this was a major violation of several data privacy laws.

"Momonga-sama!" a voice cried out to him and he looked down.

It was one of the guild's NPCs- Albedo, the Guardian Overseer. She was an exquisitely beautiful woman with long black hair and wearing a white dress which exposed just enough to give her a seductive allure. Her voice however, had a sound of urgency to it.

Wait a minute- she was talking? That was impossible!

NPC functions were limited in the game of Yggdrasil. Yeah, you could record voices for some of them, but as far as he knew, Tabula, Albedo's creator had done no such thing. Not to mention that even in that case her mouth shouldn't be moving. Not even actual players could change their facial expressions let alone move their lips.

"Momonga-sama, what's wrong?" she asked again. "What happened? One moment you were in your form as an Overlord, and now you're a human! Did something bad happen? Where is the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown?"

Suzuki processed these things. Okay, there was no way that dialogue had been programmed into her- so how was she talking spontaneously like that?

A scent washed over him- it smelled nice.

Wait a minute- smell? Impossible! The game had no such function! Taste and smell did not exist within the console.

Albedo then leaned in closer to Suzuki, exposing part of her well-endowed chest to him. It made him blush and forget his composure for a second. "Albedo- please back up."

"Forgive me, Momonga-sama," she said and took a few steps back.

Come to think of it, she did have a point- where was the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown? There was a button labelled Inventory on his screen but it didn't have any of his old items in it, including the Staff itself.

Normally losing the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, the Guild Weapon, would signify that the guild was finished, but nothing of the sort had occurred yet. The guild was still intact.

It was then that Momonga saw something when he looked at Albedo.

Albedo

Level 1 [+100 Yggdrasil Levels (Capped)]

Allegiance: Ainz Ooal Gown

There was another chart detailing her stats. Needless to say they far exceeded his own.

When Momonga looked at the word Ainz Ooal Gown, something else appeared on his own sheet.

Suzuki Satoru

Shield Hero Level [Guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown] 1

Yeah, it appeared he was still listed as the Guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown.

As he thought this, an immense wave of information filled his screen.

Ever single NPC and mercenary summon within allied with the guild was listed on his screen along with their stats. Not only that, but information regarding the layout of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, their guild base, also filled his screen.

This was far too overwhelming and he shut it off.

Alright, he had to figure out where he was.

Was this the new game the devs were asking him to beta test? If so, why weren't they responding? Even if there was something other than [GM Call] you were supposed to say, he should've gotten some information on the right phrase.

Not responding when he called for help or not including such a mechanism was a major legal violation- though they had apparently already committed a few. But it made no sense as to why they would do so...

Not to mention that smell was a thing here. No console set had a function like that.

So had he been transported to some new world?

There was only one way to find out...

"A-Albedo," he said hesitantly. "Can I... touch your chest?"

He cringed as he said this, but the fact remained that doing an 18+ action like that would result in being kicked off and banned from the game instantly. Not just Yggdrasil- but any game.

So if he could do this and was still online after the fact, it meant that he was somewhere totally new and not in some other very realistic video game.

"Of course!" Albedo said, all too eager as she moved herself closer to him.

Momonga's hand began trembling as it reached out to grab onto one of them, and as his hand made contact it practically sank into it given how soft Albedo's skin was.

Albedo let out a soft moan which made Momonga instantly withdraw his hand.

Okay... he was not in some video game then.

Albedo's wings flapped. "Momonga-sama, I don't really understand what's going on, but do you want to take me right here?"

Momonga- or Suzuki rather, couldn't deny that something had awakened between his legs after seeing Albedo, which was further proof this wasn't a game, but he had other things to do right now.

He looked towards the side. Arranged there were the seven Pleiades maids and their leader, Sebas, who looked like an old butler. All of them were NPCs.

"S-Sebas!" Suzuki croaked out.

"Yes, Momonga-sama," Sebas replied.

Was it okay to give him orders? Suzuki wondered to himself. "I want you to go outside and see what the condition of the Tomb is. Scout out in a ten-mile large radius, and if you see anyone, avoid combat. If they're friendly you might try to invite them in. Um, please?" He added the last bit weakly.

"As you command, Momonga-sama," Sebas said.

"Albedo, I want you to gather all the guardians, save for Gargantua and Victim, on the sixth floor within an hour," Suzuki said.

"Of course!" Albedo said.

"Uh, thanks," Suzuki said meekly. He was not one used to giving out orders.

"No need for thanks, I'm simply doing my duty!" Albedo said with a smile.

Suzuki looked around. Where on earth were his items? His inventory was empty, so where did they go? Did they just vanish, or were they stored somewhere where he just couldn't reach?

Regardless, he couldn't teleport within the Guild Base without a Guild Ring, so if he wanted to go to the sixth floor, he would have to walk there.

He got up, and found that this body of his was exactly like the one he had on earth. It was actually kind of creepy to have that while in a world that he was used to exploring as a video game.

The village of Carne was a small hamlet located near a vast forest known as the Forest of Tob. One of the residents was a young girl by the name of Enri Emmot.

Like her usual routine, she got up early in the morning to fetch water. The water buckets were small and so took several trips, but had they been bigger she wouldn't have been able to lift them up in the first place.

She heard a sudden cry as she came back to her home. There seemed to be some sort of commotion going on in the village square.

"What happened?" she asked someone.

"Something weird just appeared there. Look!"

Enri saw what 'it' was nearly immediately.

There was a large, exquisite hourglass planted in the middle of the square. It was so well decorated that it looked completely out of place in the drab village. Not to mention it was clearly magical in some way.

"How did that get there?"

Suzuki panted as he finally made his way to the Sixth Floor.

The Great Tomb of Nazarick was a large dungeon and served as the guild base of Ainz Ooal Gown. It had ten floors, and going from the Throne Room on the tenth floor to the sixth had exhausted Suzuki. It appeared his stamina was only as good as it was on Earth, in other words pathetic.

He was late to the very meeting he had called. All of the Floor Guardians were already gathered there.

There was Demiurge, an archdemon, dressed up in an immaculate orange tuxedo.

There was Shalltear, a petite vampire girl dressed up in an elaborate Victorian-style gothic dress.

There were the elf twins, Aura and Mare. Aura, the girl, was dressed up like a boy, and Mare, the boy, was dressed up in a skirt like a girl.

There was Coccytus, a large blue insectoid creature with four arms whose natural exoskeleton served as his armor and clothes.

And lastly, there was Albedo.

All of them were NPCs programmed with the task of defending the guild base, and they all prostrated themselves as he approached.

"Sorry for being late," Suzuki said as he panted and approached them.

There were some looks of confusion as they saw him, but to Suzuki's relief they all seemed to acknowledge him as Guildmaster and didn't attack him.

"I received a [Message] from Sebas on the way here," Suzuki said. "We have been transported to a vast plain. As such we need a way to disguise ourselves."

"M-Momonga-sama," Mare said hesitantly. "We could cover ourselves with a hill by piling on grass and soil."

"You would dare dirty the walls of glorious Nazarick with mud and filth?" Albedo snapped at him.

"No, no, that's an okay idea," Suzuki said. "Make sure to make many decoy hills too so no one notices us."

Suzuki then, out of curiosity, opened up the same status menu.

"Okay, do any of you know what SP is?" Suzuki asked.

There were looks of confusion.

"Apologies, Momonga-sama," Albedo said. "I have not heard of this 'SP' thing you speak of."

Suzuki could see the stats for HP and MP, but there was this other thing called an SP bar which didn't exist in Yggdrasil. The Guardians had one as well, but it was far lower than their HP and MP values, so he guessed that it was some kind of new game mechanic.

"It's right there on your screens, right?" Suzuki asked.

There were more looks of confusion, and Suzuki realized something.

"Tell me, can you all see numbers, or statuses, or the like, on your vision? Is there a small arrow on the corner of your visual field?" Suzuki asked.

They all shook their heads, and Suzuki groaned. He thought that they too were able to access the menu-like thing that he could access. They probably thought he was crazy. How could he get them to see what he was seeing?

As that thought popped up in his head, a message appeared.

Would you like to automatically add all the members associated with the guild to your party?

After reading it, he selected Yes to see what would happen.

"Oh, I see it now!" Shalltear exclaimed.

"Indeed," Demiurge said.

With that, more information poured onto Suzuki's screen. He could now see more detailed information about the Floor Guardians- including their character sheets. He could also see a more informative layout of the Great Tomb including where all the traps were and where everyone was located currently. Also, he could see information about every item in the Treasury.

It was all categorized alphabetically, which annoyed him, which in turn caused it to rearrange itself.

Now it was organized in the manner of an inverted tree. There was him, the Guildmaster, at the top, and below him were the Floor Guardians. Under their names were the names of their respective vassal NPCs. There were, in addition, some other branches originating from him, like to Sebas and the Pleiades, as well as to Pandora's Actor.

This was far easier to peruse, and a Treasury icon appeared next to Inventory on his screen. He really wished it would give him all of this information from the very beginning however, it seemed whoever designed this game made gaining information as hard as possible.

Yeah, it was probably made by the Yggdrasil devs then.

"Are you able to equip and unequip items?" Suzuki asked.

After a chorus of "Yes!" he then said, "Can one of you get this shield off me then? I can't seem to get it off no matter how hard I try."

No option to unequip it appeared on his screen, and he couldn't get if off manually.

"Let me try," Shalltear said. "[Greater Break Item]!"

The spell had no effect- which was alarming. It mean that this item was of a very high grade, though as far as Suzuki could tell it was a simple shield. "Can you get information on it via magic?"

"[All Appraisal Item]!" Shalltear said. Her eyes widened. "Momonga-sama, I'm having trouble getting information out of this. Even with the highest-tier appraisal spell I can't get all of the info on it, but it seems to belong to no class of item I'm familiar with." She then paused and reached inside her mouth.

To Suzuki's surprise, she pulled out a tooth. "It says it can get stronger if it absorbs monster parts. Try putting my tooth into its center."

Suzuki handled the tooth carefully- he was sure if it pricked him he would turn into a vampire. He held it over the middle part of the shield, and then dropped it into the central orb.

The tooth disappeared, and a flood of information entered his screen.

Suzuki took a minute to process what he was seeing. What he understood was that he had gained a large number of shields- many of which were locked to him right now. He honed into one which wasn't locked, the Guildmaster Shield, and concentrated on it.

His shield transformed into a purple one emblazoned with the symbol of Ainz Ooal Gown on it. For a brief second, he thought he saw the reflection of a pair of eyes in the shield's central orb which were not his, but when he looked again he just saw his own reflection.

There was a new icon on his screen.

Friendly fire is turned off for members of your guild. Would you like to turn friendly fire on?

Suzuki selected No as his response- he hoped that would prevent the NPCs from hurting him.

"Ah, it seems adding monster parts helps me unlock new shields," Suzuki said.

Before he could say anything else, the other Floor Guardians began pulling out their own teeth.

This was alarming but also reassuring in a way- Suzuki was unsure of whether or not the NPCs were still loyal to him, but if they were literally pulling out teeth for him it meant that they were quite eager to help him.

Suzuki got very similar results when he added in their parts, but the shields like the Guildmaster and NPC Shields seemed to be one-offs.

"We should get everyone else in the Tomb too," Aura said. "Like all my animals, and all the mercenary NPCs to give in their body parts as well!'

The Guardians nodded, and Demiurge piped up.

"Pardon me, Momonga-sama, but it appears based on this status screen that you're only level one with no additional Yggdrasil levels," Demiurge said.

Suzuki's jaw nearly dropped. He had been hoping to hide the fact that he was quite weak from them as he wasn't sure they wouldn't attack him, but there seemed to be no way to stop them from knowing. "Indeed, unfortunately it seems that I was reset back to level one and put in this human form when I was given this shield."

Alarmed faces surrounded him.

"Momonga-sama!" Albedo cried out as she embraced him. Suzuki felt two soft mounds press against him. "That means you're vulnerable to attack! I'll never let you go!"

"Me too!" Shalltear cried out, grabbing his leg.

"Please let me go," Suzuki cried out weakly. It seemed he was safe from being killed for now. He turned around to see Sebas had arrived and Suzuki gave him a quick update, after which Sebas offered a tooth as well.

"Momonga-sama, I can't help but notice that you're rather sweaty," Sebas said. "Are you ill?"

"Uh, no," Suzuki said. "I just uh, got tired while walking here from the Throne Room. I don't have a lot of endurance in this form after all, and I can't access any part of my inventory, including the Guild Rings either."

"Unacceptable!" Demiurge screeched, but it was not as Suzuki, but Albedo. "How could you let Suzuki-sama walk here in that state!"

"I apologize," Albedo said, prostrating herself. "I should've carried you, Suzuki-sama!"

"Uh, it's fine," Suzuki said. He really did not want to be carried around like a child... but as he thought that a wave of fatigue washed over him. Maybe it was the adrenaline kudos to being in an unfamiliar situation, but now he was as tired as his human body would have been. He didn't have any of his fatigue-reducing items right now either. "But you know... Albedo... maybe you can carry me to my room... just this once?" His eyes began drooping.

He wasn't sure, but he thought that he had fallen asleep sometime while being carried.

He wasn't sure how long he had been asleep, but when Suzuki woke up he felt very refreshed, something quite unusual for him. He moved his hands around and found something which was soft and warm.

Groggily opening his eyes, he saw that he was in his room on the tenth floor and not in his apartment in the real world. He hadn't decorated it as it was just for show, but even the base design was extravagant.

But he got up immediately when he saw that he wasn't alone in bed.

Next to him was Albedo. "Albedo! What're you doing here?"

"After carrying you up here, I had to make sure that you were safe from any attackers," Albedo said. "And also that you didn't get cold, so I slid into bed with you."

Suzuki backed up a little before hitting something. "Huh? Shalltear? What're you doing here?"

"Well, if you had two people protecting you it would've been better," Shalltear said. "And I couldn't let Albedo have you all for herself."

"But a cold body like her's is of little use anyway," Albedo retorted.

Shalltear glared at Albedo. "Are you really so eager to latch onto Momonga-sama, you old hag? I know that your expiry date fast approaches, but that doesn't mean that you can hog him all to yourself."

Suzuki tried to hop off the foot of the bed as it was unblocked by either of the two bickering ladies, but he saw the other Floor Guardians knelt before him at the foot of your bed.

"How long have all of you been here?"

"We have been here ever since you ordered Albedo to carry you," Demiurge said. "We haven't moved since just in case you needed us!"

"All in all it's been about eleven hours," Aura said.

"D-Don't you have other things you need to do?"

"Nothing. Is. More. Important. Than. Protecting. Momonga-sama." Coccytus replied.

"Well, I need to get ready then," Suzuki said.

After assuring him that he didn't need any help and telling Albedo and Shalltear that he could bathe himself very well enough, Suzuki got himself ready. As he left his room, he saw that a long table had been set out in the hallway upon which was stacked layers of food.

Several dozen of the maids were arranging plates for him, and there was a large seat for him.

"Momonga-sama, we've laid out breakfast for you right here," one of the maids said. "Unless you would prefer to eat elsewhere."

Suzuki was feeling hungry- and also quite speechless. Even if all forty-one of the original guild members were to join him, they wouldn't be able to finish half of what was laid out for him.

Suzuki was used to subsiding on what was basically plain nutrient paste for most of his life, so this was a welcome change from that. He told the maids he was fine dining here and they didn't need to move anything.

Once he was done with breakfast, he decided to experiment with his abilities a little.

He learned quickly that he was unable to use any weapons aside from his shield. He still couldn't get it off no matter what he tried, and he couldn't cast any spells from Yggdrasil (as far as he knew).

He was able to collect far more monster materials for it though by using things such as the mercenary summoning books from the library.

He learned a bit about how shields were unlocked- which shields he got were based not only on someone's racial levels but job classes as well.

For example, if he took a nail from a Redcap, it would get him the Goblin Sight Shield which gave him night vision, but also the Goblin Shadow Shield which improved stealth. The former was based off the goblin's natural racial stats, while the other was based off its job classes.

Weaker levelled monsters unlocked far fewer shields than stronger ones as well.

While he couldn't use a knife to fight, he found that he could use one while eating for some reason.

He also learned that he should always lock the bathroom whenever he was taking a bath, because Albedo and Shalltear had a nasty habit of 'hearing noises and thinking he was in danger' to which they would break in.

Despite the huge number of shields he had, he was still only level one however. He had tried fighting some of the weaker POP monsters, but had made no real progress given his negligible offensive stats. He hadn't found a use for the SP stat either as of yet.

Once he was done adding monster parts to his shield, he moved on to adding regents. He found that he could make potions using ingredients with just his shield. He tried adding items to his shield as well, but most of the shields he unlocked from them were unusable at his current level.

All in all, he had unlocked over 4,000 different shields at that point, but he could use only about 2% of them.

Mare had finished hiding the Great Tomb as much as possible, and no invaders had tried to attack them so it seemed that they were safe. But one day while he was resting after breakfast something popped up on his screen.

A wave is beginning!

5:00

The timer counted down from five minutes, and Suzuki quickly realized that he was going to be called to battle soon. He had no idea how strong these waves were, but he wasn't very strong either. Panicking, he called out for some people to join him, but he realized quickly that the timer had appeared on everyone's screen.

He was just not sure what would happen when it hit zero.

Enri ran for her life.

The day had started as any other day- some whispers about the new hourglass continued as usual, but gossip about it had mostly died down. They had sent word to E-Rantel about it, but no officials had come as of yet to inspect it.

As Enri had been returning carrying water though, she heard a scream from the village.

Knights in armor had descended upon the village of Carne, slaughtering people without mercy. One of them had tried to take advantage of her, but her father had pushed that knight off her.

Enri had barely escaped with her little sister Nemu, but their escape was about to be cut short.

One of the knights was quickly gaining on her. No matter how fast Enri ran, she knew she would be unable to outrun her pursuer. Perhaps if she abandoned Nemu... no! She couldn't even think of something like that!

While running, Nemu tripped, and Enri quickly covered her to act as a human shield while she felt a sword make a streak on her back. It was not a fatal blow thankfully, but Enri knew that death awaited her.

And then the sky turned a deep shade of crimson.

"Huh?" the knight stopped in his tracks, bewildered.

Near him, something fell from the sky.

It landed in the nearby forest before emerging to face the knight. It was a two-headed dog with red eyes.

"Monster!" the knight screamed. All around him, he saw similar shadows fall to the earth.

The dog advanced on the knight.

Once the timer hit zero, Suzuki found himself somewhere unfamiliar.

Surrounding him was the entire force of the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown, ranging from all the golems, NPCs, mercenaries, POP monsters, and likewise totaling 987 members. This was a bit of a problem given that some of them had very damaging area of effect abilities, such as Guren, who emanated a fiery aura lighting the surrounding trees on fire.

Thanks to friendly fire none of the weaker members had been cooked to a crisp or were damaged by this ability, Suzuki included.

What worried him more was that this meant that the Great Tomb of Nazarick was completely unguarded.

Before he could order some of them to return to Nazarick, a dark shadow emerged from the surrounding landscape followed by several others.

They were strange dog-like monsters, but as they turned to attack, they were swiftly defeated by Shalltear who was now in her full battle gear.

+410 XP granted

This message popped up in front of Suzuki, followed by another.

The wave has started! Defeat the boss in order to end the monsters from spawning!

That was all. That was literally all the information he was going to get.

"Alright then," Suzuki said. "We need to make a plan- everyone- we have to find and defeat the boss."

"Understood," Albedo said. "Hanzos, infiltrate the area to find any strong monsters!"

"Albedo, have Guren, Victim, Gargantua, Rubedo, and the others return to Nazarick," Suzuki said. "We can't leave it undefended."

"Of course," Albedo said and began bellowing orders.

Enri watched in horror as the strange dog-like monster feasted on the knight's remains. The knight had fought off the first monster, but four more approached him, and despite killing three he ended up falling to the fourth who struck him from behind.

Her salvation was short-lived as once it was done, it turned its attention to her.

She had been so paralyzed by fear that she hadn't dared to attempt to flee. As it was there were monsters everywhere and no where to run to.

As all hope was lost, a silver flash entered from the left, and when she blinked, she monster was nothing but a pulp of gore on the floor.

"Are you alright?"

She looked up to see the kind face of an old man dressed in a butler uniform. "Ah, I see that you've been injured."

He kept a hand on her back, and Enri felt the wound on her back melt away.

The butler's eyes instantly snapped behind her though, and Enri turned to see what he was looking at.

This dog was larger than all the others with three heads instead of two.

"Ah," the man said. "So this is the 'Boss' that was spoken of. Strange, I cannot perceive it as being much stronger than anything else."

The beast immediately ran towards them, but Sebas had shattered its three heads with a single kick. "Hmph."

Meanwhile, further away, Suzuki was nearly in a state of shell-shock.

There was just so much going around him that he was barely able to take it all in.

Not to mention that he was incredibly weak and had to leave the fighting to other people.

Not to say that he didn't try to at least get things under control. He had told Albedo that they should avoid killing any non-monsters, in other words, the humans of the area, and had also gotten Pestonya to start healing some of the injured.

A message soon popped up on his screen.

Congratulations on finishing the first part of the wave! There is a second half to this wave which is in another world.

1:00

Only a minute to prepare?

Suzuki took a moment to notice what his stats were now.

Suzuki Satoru

Shield Hero: Level 9 [+3 Yggdrasil Levels]

That was rather different from what he was used to, but it was in line with how the NPC's stats were listed.

He wanted to know what the 3 Yggdrasil levels were in.

Guildmaster 1 lv

General 1 lv

Hero 1 lv

He had never heard of the 'Guildmaster' type job class in Yggdrasil, though 'General' and 'Hero' were things he was familiar with.

The other 'normal' levels had no such assignment to any class or the like.

He wanted to see if there was a way to leave some people behind when he was transported, and he was presented with such an option.

He groaned. Why did all of these things appear only when he asked about them?

He quickly removed certain NPCs from the list among who would be summoned before there was a flash of light.

A/N: Thanks for reading up till now!

To clarify things, I've read Overlord in detail (including all the light novels) and my knowledge of Overlord lore is I would say pretty complete. I have only seen the anime of the Shield Hero, though I have checked out the wiki and other Youtube videos which describe the lore in a bit more detail.

As such, I wanted this to be a fanfic which you could read even if you haven't read one of the two isekais, but I realize that that's pretty hard to do as I could spend like 20,000 words describing Overlord before I would be done. As such I'd recommend you'd at least watched the first season to get a hang on what's going on here. I do try to describe some of the Overlord mechanics and characters but I realize it's pretty superficial if you have no clue who they are.

This fanfic is going to be 60:40, as in 60% Overlord and 40% Rising of the Shield Hero, so if on the other hand you know a lot about Overlord but little about the Rising of the Shield Hero, you might be able to understand things.

Suzuki is the definitive Shield Hero in this universe and also that of Raphtalia's world, so Naofumi is not involved in this story. What Suzuki has done basically is to bring the New World in contact with Raphtalia's world and the waves, kind of how L'arc and Glass are from another world, so there's a third world thrown into the mix. He's also brought Yggdrasil game mechanics along with him like the other heroes brought their own mechanics from their games.

I know that's a bit of a spoiler but I just want to clear up what this fanfic is going to be like so people don't get angry later if I disappoint them, so yeah, there is no Naofumi.

On to power scaling, as far as I can tell, even the Drifa-class magic of Naofumi's world is something like Fourth or Fifth tier Overlord magic equivalent. Given that the Pope used a spell to nearly wipe out the Heroes, and his weapon had 25% the power of a real weapon, I think that it was about equivalent to maybe an eighth or a ninth tier Overlord spell. Similarly, the spells that Therese use also seem to be about equivalent to eighth or ninth tier- it's much harder to compare with stuff like attacks of L'arc's scythe and the such, but it's also clear that one level there in Naofumi's world is much weaker than one level in Yggdrasil.

So I'm guessing a single Super Tier spell must be much stronger than anything the Four Weapons can pull out.

As such, I think level 80 Yggdrasil monsters should be able to take out nearly anything in Naofumi's world, but again I've only seen the first season so maybe I'm underestimating his world and the like, so if so please feel free to correct me.

Given that Suzuki has an army of unstoppable world-ending monsters (and even if I'm wrong about the above they can still gain normal levels and they have World Class Items, so eventually I'll be right), in this fanfic I've made him a human so that he is more of a commander or leader-type person than he was in the original Overlord.

One thing I personally don't like about Overlord is frankly just how much of a pussy that Suzuki is when it comes to trying to control his guild. I mean, that's part of the fun of the series as he isn't good at leading, but it does get tiring to a point. I still like the series, I just wished he would man up at some point and take a bit more responsibility for things. So we'll see him grow as a leader.

Don't worry- just because Suzuki has an unstoppable army doesn't mean things will be easy for him. He's gonna have his share of hardships pretty soon.

Also, I'm working on 2 other projects- Nazarick in the Real World and Ainz At Level One. I should have another chapter of Nazarick in the Real World up soon, but do take note it might take months between updates. Also, I don't think I can keep writing like 6k+ word chapters, they might be a lot shorter in the future.

We'll be seeing characters like Motoyasu, Raphtalia, and the like very soon.
