Chat Noir was never afraid of fighting Akuma's, well maybe that was a lie but he would always help out regardless. On his way to the scene however he felt nervous not because of the Akuma mind you. No he was nervous about talking to Ladybug, anyone would be if they were on their way to Confront who is essentially their boss, still he could push those feelings down he had a job to do and he was going to do it. He focused on finding Ladybug and before long he found her in the Tuileries Garden fighting a hulking six armed figure he immediately recognised as Anansi.
He leapt down from the rooftop just as Anansi lunged at Ladybug, arms outstretched ready to grab her, he struck her in the side with his staff sending her stumbling to the side "Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we already beat this one bugaboo? Guess old Dorkmoth is running out of ideas" Anansi shook the hit off relatively quickly and was upon the duo again striking Ladybug sending her flying and striking Chat noir in the Stomach the wind was knocked straight out of him, he gasped for breath only just remaining upright.
"You know what everyone who's ever beaten me has in common?" Anansi mocked as she lifted Chat Noir off the ground with one hand. "I got them the second time round!" Anansi roared as she threw Chat Noir at Ladybug who had only just managed to get back up sending both heroes to the ground landing in an awkward heap "This is a rematch i've been waiting for"
"Hey… Ladybug, this sucks" Chat noir said standing up brushing himself off before offering Ladybug his hand helping her up. "Any idea-" they both jumped out the way as Anansi threw a tree at the pair. "Just one, Lucky Charm!" She called her lucky charm and caught a skipping rope looking around for a moment to get an idea on what to do. "Chat Noir I need you to get her to web up that Gate I'll take it from there"
"Can do my Lady, just don't take too long or i might beat her by myself" Chat Noir lept at Anansi pushing her arms to the side with his staff before punching her in the stomach after all he had to return the favour he ducked under his swings landing a few more swift jabs to her chest and arms. "What's the matter? I thought you were some kind of Prize fighter? Personally I think you might have a career in web design"
"You two are the worst Tag team i've ever fought to think she left you to fight me by yourself" Anansi sneered lunging at him with as much force as she could muster, he blocked another attack with his staff but was pushed back slightly "Ladybug doesn't take you very seriously and honestly? Neither do I, I mean you lost to carapace on his first day. You're punching above your weight class!" Anansi lost her temper spitting webs from her mouth at Chat Noir he vaulted over Anansi avoiding the webs which covered the gate forming a net.
Ladybug tied the skipping rope to the leg of a nearby bench pulling it taut forming a trip wire. "Put her on the Defensive Chat Noir! Use your cataclysm and push her back" Chat Obliged her request summoning his power and lunging for Anansi's Helmet she stumbled back to avoid the destructive energy only to trip on the rope falling into her own web, she struggled but to little avail her webs were too strong even for her.
"Caught in your own web talk about embarrassing, I knew you were a C lister" Chat strolled over touching the Helmet it crumbled to dust releasing the Akuma. "Time to de-evilize" Ladybug cheered catching the Akuma before setting the pure white butterfly free "bye-bye little butterfly" Ladybug untied the skipping rope from the bench before throwing into the air "Miraculous Ladybug!" she called out as the Ladybugs repaired the damage to the garden and the surrounding area. "Pound i-"
"We need to talk." Chat cut her off dismissing their usual fist bump "and I know you're busy but it's important, Arc de Triomphe 45 minutes okay?" Gives me time to rehearse what i'm gonna say he thought to himself waiting for her answer. "This sounds serious. Am I in trouble?" she attempted to Joke but the look on Chat's face was so solemn, she hadn't seen him this serious since the incident with the Collector "I'll be there no need to worry"
"That's when I worry the most" Adrien vaulted away Landing on a rooftop once he was out of sight. "Claws in" Plagg flew out of the ring as his suit disappeared, landing dramatically on the ground. "Oh the hunger I don't think i'm gonna make it" Plagg whined before Adrien threw him a piece of camembert "Don't be such a drama queen besides i'm pretty sure you can't die" Plagg ate the cheese in mere seconds before looking back to Adrien "Immortals get hungry to Adrien, but enough about that what are you going to say to Ladybug?"
"I don't really know how I feel, I guess? Or maybe that I know Rena and Carapace's identities and have a pretty good idea who the rest of the part time heroes are, I don't wanna sound disrespectful. She could take my miraculous'' there was that anxiety again, irrational as it was he felt uneasy. "First off kid no she wouldn't and second She really doesn't have the authority to do that, Fu gave you the ring not her she might be the guardian but you are still equals like Fu said even if it doesn't feel like it. She can't take it unless you use the ring for evil or intentionally use the cataclysm on a person and it's not like you'd ever do that" Adrien checked the time before heading over to the Arc De Triomphe.
He Felt a pang of guilt as he saw Ladybug pacing nervously. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable like that but this was a conversation they needed to have no matter how uncomfortable it would be for the pair. She jumped slightly as he landed behind her before turning to face her partner. "Alright, Chat , what did you need to talk to me about?"
He paused for a moment trying to think of the best way to start, eventually deciding to get the big thing out of the way first "I know Rena and Carapace's Identities, I know they know each other's identities and I know you let them know." there was more of course but he couldn't drop all of that on her at once. "I'm sorry, I should have told you about it was when scarlett moth attacked for the first time I didn't have the time to give them their miraculous separately and I kept them around because they're our most competent part time heroes and we wouldn't have time to teach new heroes the ropes"
"Alright, That's… well I can understand you didn't have a choice but I can't see why you couldn't tell me." He still sounded slightly hurt but he had more important things to get off his chest. "I feel like you don't really need me anymore today was an outlier but the past few battles you and Rena beat the Akuma without me or you only needed me for the cataclysm or I'm trapped for the fight. It's like you don't need me anymore or you trust Rena more than me."
"What? Chat no of course I need you, remember in new york? When you left I told you I couldn't be Ladybug without you, you know that right?" The look on his face made it pretty clear he didn't know that. "I need to tell you something about Rena you won't like it but you deserve to know, I told Rena my Identity but I idn't wanna do it and I normally wouldn't have but I just broke down and she was there"
Chat was silent for a second before speaking up "Knew it." he said simply looking to the side avoiding eye contact with Ladybug "You knew? How? Why didn't you say anything?" Ladybug Exclaimed sounding almost worried, was she really this afraid of how he'd react? "Because I trusted that you had a reason to tell her, you needed support that's understandable. I just don't see why it couldn't have been me."
"It should have been, but It can't be, a couple months ago Bunnix came to me and brought me into the future. I don't know all the details but you were akumatized and you knew my identity, everyone was dead and you were alone. You called yourself Chat Blanc. You told me that our love had destroyed the world. Somehow learning my identity led to all that destruction so it had to be Alya you can understand that right?" She was on the brink of tears at this point. Part of Chat wanted to comfort her but he felt betrayed. How could she keep this from him? Her identity was understandable but this was something that directly concerned him.
"I can understand you telling Alya first but why… Why the hell wouldn't you tell me about Chat Blanc!? You've known for two months and you didn't tell me until now, because you had to not because you trust me. This is something that concerns me directly you had no right to keep it from me" Chat Exploded taking Ladybug off guard she backed away slightly trying to maintain her calm demeanour "If you knew you'd blame yourself I was trying to protect you" she attempted to reassure him reaching her hand out to him only for him to pull away "Maybe I would! but I still needed to know you don't ever get to decide what I need to know about myself"
"You're right you're right, I'm sorry I should have told you" Ladybug Conceded looking down at the ground unable to meet his gaze he'd been annoyed with her before but he'd never exploded at her like this she just didn't know how to respond. She looked back up at him just in time to see him turn to leave "Chat wait, are you okay?"
He turned back, sighing softly "I will be, but… I need some time i'll still help out during Akuma Attacks but don't try to contact me when i'm ready to talk i'll let you know we really need to discuss our partnership but i'm not ready yet" he didn't even wave as he vaulted away heading back home and collapsing on his bed, letting his transformation fall before slipping into a restless sleep his physical and mental exhaustion catching up to him.
