Marinette had been understandably stressed since her conversation with Chat Noir and her chat with Kagami had only made her feel worse, she didn't want to make him talk before he was ready to but at the same time waiting like this often led to her spiraling into worst case scenarios and this was no different. "Tikki! What if he quits being Chat Noir!? I can't get a new Chat Noir. I'm already used to fighting alongside this one! What if he never talks to me again? What if he hates me forever!?"
Tikki flew over to Marinette patting her on the head in some small attempt to comfort her. "Try and calm down Marinette, Chat might be mad right now, but he's not the kind of guy to hold a grudge. Give him some space he said he'd let you know when he wanted to talk didn't he?" Marinnete lay back on her bed singing to herself, obviously what Tikki was saying made sense but it didn't make her feel much better.
Adrien's realization of his feelings for Kagami had been a somewhat freeing experience. That said wasn't ready to act on those feelings yet, He wasn't even going to attempt a relationship without revealing his Identity. Which he figured he should talk to Ladybug about, he wasn't asking for permission but he was still going to let her know.
Still he'd talk to her after school or sooner depending on Akuma's, School was relatively normal no Akuma's or at least not as far as he knew he was slowly but surely starting to talk to Nino again, He didn't wanna hold everything that had happened with Rocketear against him, Nino wasn't exactly thinking clearly at the time.
As soon as school was over Adrien slipped past his driver, through the crowd before rounding a corner into an alleyway as soon as he was sure nobody was around he transformed into Chat Noir sending Ladybug a message "Arc De Triomphe 25 minutes?" A few moments passed and he got a reply confirming that she'd be there.
He arrived about 10 minutes early, but it gave him time to think on what he was going to say to her. Eventually he decided to take a pointer from Kagami. He heard Ladybug land behind him and he stood up but he didn't turn to her just yet.
"Uh Chat? You wanted to talk right?" She sounded worried, but she didn't approach any further yet, she still wasn't sure what to say to him herself.
"You know Ladybug we haven't had a good fight in a while, my skills are getting a little rusty" Before Ladybug could question him he ran at her though it was clear from his demeanor this was just sparring he wasn't trying to hurt her she jumped over him as he attempted to trip her up landing on the other side of the arc. "Chat I thought you wanted to talk?" She questioned as she caught a kick throwing him to the side. "Just wait a second"
He landed on his feet before throwing his staff at her. She immediately focused on trying to catch it and while she was distracted he swept her legs tripping her up causing her to fall over. "There I beat you, first time I ever won" He said as he picked up his staff before helping her up.
"That wasn't exactly a fair fight Kitty" Ladybug complained as she took his hand and got up, "A wins a win and you know it" He joked as sat down with his legs dangling over the edge looking down at the cars and after a brief moment of hesitation she sat next to him.
"We've fought a lot haven't we Ladybug? Not that I remember any of them, first there was Dark Cupid we all know how that ended. Then I was possessed by Puppeteer and I still can't watch anything with puppets without getting the creeps. And Chat Blanc… look I understand why you didn't tell me and I can forgive you for it you were just looking out for me, but that doesn't mean I think you made the right decision."
Ladybug could still hear the disappointment in his voice. She said she trusted him all the time but what had she actually done to prove it? Almost everything he knew he had figured out himself or learned through other people she barely told him anything what kind of message did that send? She had to do better. She would do better.
"Oh and there is one other thing I wanted to talk to you about, I'm not asking your permission I'm simply letting you know, you see there's this girl. Oh and it's not you so don't worry about that We dated for a little while but it didn't work out I was always running off, missing dates and I couldn't exactly tell her why I was doing it" Ladybug knew the feeling Chat's relationship with this girl sounded awfully similar to her own failed relationship with Luka.
"I'm sure you can guess where I'm going with this, I just need her to know I wasn't doing it on purpose, she's told me still wants to be friends and I know she wouldn't tell anyone" The tone of his voice made it evident how much he trusted the girl he was talking about.
"You aren't just planning to tell her in the hopes she'll get back together with you are you Chat?" She teased which for once got a rise out of him. She wanted to tell him not to reveal himself but she really didn't have any room to talk.
"Well that would be nice but no, I just want her to know I care about her, if she says she doesn't think about me romantically anymore then that's fine. Just as long as she knows I think I'll be okay." He got up stretching slightly before waving to Ladybug and heading home. Leaving her alone with her thoughts.
Ladybug felt exhausted but relieved Tikki was right of course Chat wasn't going to quit, better still as far as she could tell he was still her friend, the downside however was she'd spent the better part of the week stressing over what turned out to be nothing. Still she had to make sure she never made him feel like that again for now though she had to get home before her parents missed her. She threw her yo yo into the air and like that she was off swinging through the city.
Adrien dove through the window into his room and immediately called off his transformation laying back on his bed staring up at the sealing until of course his view was blocked by a certain kwami "Are you sure you wanna tell Kagami? I won't stop you if that's what you wanna do but think about it, I mean really think about it, how many embarrassing things have you done as Chat Noir that she would know was you?"
"Well hey I can just say that's part of my secret Identity a goofy persona so people can't trace it back to the cool collected Adrien Agreste" Plagg didn't seem to buy that. for one Adrien wasn't cool or collected and two Adrien could be just as goofy as Chat when he thought nobody was around.
"Okay Kid if Kagami falls for that for even one minute I will give up Camembert and Sarcasm" Plagg joked before noticing Adrien writing notes and crossing them out over and over. "Uh kid what are you doing?"
"Trying to think of the best way to tell her, I couldn't just drop it on her out of nowhere it'd need to be the right time" Plagg had seen this before, Adrien tended to overthink things like this there was very little point trying to talk him out of it, So Plagg would leave him alone for now he would burn himself out in an hour or two and he normally decided to wing it anyway.
Can't think of a better name for this chapter but uh... I hope you enjoyed it
