Chapter 3: Pitstops

Trailing behind Two-bit Emma felt her eyelids starting to close, all this hyperventilating had made her tired.

Her and Two-bit hadn't said much since they had left for what he called a "pitstop" and she was grateful, the small talk was exhausting.

Rubbing her hand on her chin she realized that the Two-bit in this world looked nothing like his movie counterpart, good no swooning after all. She also couldn't help but wonder what role she had to play in this huge mess, if she interacted with the characters would the plot change? She was aware of the possibility of saving lives but was that the right thing to do?

"Shoot girlie with the way your glaring at me I might just combust on the spot" She looked up and heard Two-bit cackling wiggling his eyebrows at her.

"Sorry" she half smiled "I guess i'm just wondering when your going to realize I'm crazy and take off" It was true she must have seemed very strange to someone from this time.

Two-bit just looked at her "like I said crazy's good, plus I have a soft spot for blondes" He teased tugging at her golden locks.

Emma just smiled wider and continued walking with him until they reached a gas station the DX , once she realized where she was headed she stopped abruptly, was she even ready to meet more characters? "uh Two-bit I think I'll just stay here while you take care of your business"

"Nah you have to come in! you gotta meet Soda and Steve!" Two-bit was practically whining at this point.

That's what I was afraid of

But Emma shrugged it off she didn't have the heart to tell him that she didn't want to meet the rest of the gang in fact it was probably better if she just left them alone from now on but instead she followed him in the station.

"Hey guys lookie what I got here!" Two-bit exclaimed dragging Emma by her hand

Both boys working on the car turned and she was greeted with what she could only assume was Sodapop Curtis and Steve Randall.

She saw Steve first he had dark hair and a look of indifference on his face like he was sizing her up to see if she was worth while, she tried not to roll her eyes.

Then there was Sodapop, boy did the book not do him any justice he was without a doubt the best looking guy she had ever met with golden blonde hair that matched hers and warm chocolate brown eyes she tried her best not to blush it made it worse that he was grinning wildly.

"This here is Emma I met her today ain't she just a doll?" Two-bit asked while she shook the boys hands she couldn't help but grin at the entire situation here she was meeting characters from a fictional book who would have thunk it.

Soda nodded at Two-bit's previous statement while Steve shook his head and scowled "Two-bit you idiot what the hell you doing bringing a Soc girl here in Greaser territory I bet her boyfriend and all his friends are looking for her by now and they may be looking to start a fight"

Emma winced at his tone Soc? I thought i was a hood? This place was so confusing

Meanwhile Two-bit was pouting "Aw c'mon Steve don't be like that besides I found herin Greaser territory by the Dingo" He then turned to Emma "You ain't a Soc right? Tell him!"

She decided to play dumb "Greaser? Soc? Sorry I have no idea what those are I'm new" She hoped that explanation would be enough

Steve glanced at her thoughtfully as if he was analyzing every word she had said she guessed it had been the right thing because his scowl turned into a smile and he reached out his hand for her to shake "Well sorry for judging you miss but you don't look like you come form these parts of town I'm Steve"

"I'm Sodapop" Soda had piped up from behind her waving

I know she thought but she just smiled and decided playing the innocent new girl could have it's advantages.

Emma looked around the DX and leaned against the counter "so Steve what made you think I was a Soc, because apparently I look like a hood among others things" she glanced at Two-bit at that last part

Steve and Soda both snorted before Steve spoke "nah you're no hood you've got no cruddy makeup on and you walked in here like a scared mouse"

"Even though your dress sure is short" Soda piped up and received a glare from Emma he then blushed and looked away.

speaking of that. "Do you guys know where a clothing store is?"
