"Alright, what happened?" May inquired the next day.

"Ash came over last night and told me a bedtime story!" Brianna chirped.

"Is that why both you and your mom look like you're walking in the literal sunshine?"

"Probably." The seven year old replied as she grabbed her toast and added a couple spoons of Nutella to it.

"I need coffee." Dawn said as she arrived at the kitchen yawning.

"There she is! Miss walking on sunshine herself." May said as she passed Dawn a cup of strong coffee and a couple salted crackers.

Dawn chugged it down as fast as she could without burning herself. "I needed that."

"So, spill everything missy." May said.

"About what?"

"Ash coming over last night." May smirked. "You have a squawking parrot."

Dawn glanced over to such said squawking parrot, her daughter. Brianna shrugged. "Ef das uhn." She said with a mouthful of toast.

"It was fun." May translated.

Dawn stifled a laugh. "Didn't know you spoke parrot."

"Af hos!" Brianna said.

"I'm not." May translated once again.

"Chew and swallow before you choke." Dawn said, and glared to May. "Stop doing that you're simply encouraging her."

"Def fo, crai."

"Let's go, May." The brown haired female laughed. "I'm going, I'm going."

Brianna waved her hand and rushed upstairs to brush her teeth and grab her backpack.

"Well?" May inquired once again. "I'm sure it wasn't just a bedtime story that happened."

Dawn groaned and covered her face. "...I might have kissed him goodnight."

May squealed. "That's so cute!"

Dawn's composure wasn't going so well. "But before all that, he told me that he had a crush on me, and I might have told him that I had one on him as well."

May giggled and gave her best I-told-you-so expression. "What did I tell you girl?"

Dawn groaned. "I don't want to go to work..."

"Oh no missy you're going to work with a positive attitude."

"Hi Dawn!" If Misty and Melody's cheerful voices were any indication, Dawn knew they wanted gossip.

"Hey, morning." She greeted and closed the door behind her.

"How are you today?" Melody asked.

"Yes, Dawn. How are you?" Misty said.

"I'm fine thanks." Dawn wanted to roll her eyes.

"So... Flowers, huh?"

"Yeah, they were pretty weren't they? I took them home with me and they're in my room." Dawn said.

"You might want to make space for more." Melody stated.

"Hmm? Why?" Dawn asked curiously.

Melody and Misty smirked. "No particular reason." "Have a good day!"

"Thanks..." Dawn laughed and walked over to her office. Opening the door she saw that Ash was already there.

"Seriously, how do you keep doing this?" She couldn't help but ask, walking inside.

"Oh, hey Dawn." Ash said from where he was. "Just a second."

Dawn finally glanced around and saw what Ash was doing. All over the office there were various pots with seeds, and on the table were two vases filled with roses. He was just finishing setting up the ones on the table.

"Sorry about doing this without consulting you first but I wanted it to be a surprise."

Walking over to her desk, Dawn sat down and glanced over to the roses. "Oh I'm surprised alright." She said as she put her bag down.

"You might be wondering what's going on."

"A bit, yeah."

"Well, let me explain it." Ash said as he pointed all over the place. "I just thought it would make a nice bonding experience if we grew our own plants."

Dawn raised an eyebrow. "And you had to use my office?"

"I'm practically here more than I am at my own office as it is." Ash stated.

"Yeah, Melody and Misty complain when you're not here. They're almost up to par with Brianna."

Ash grinned. "Ah, to be loved by multiple woman. That is the curse of Ash Ketchum." He did a slight hair flip.

Dawn couldn't help but laugh. "Yes, what would the world do without you?"

Ash continued. "But it's too bad my heart already belongs to three beautiful woman. My beloved mother Delia, a gorgeous beauty named Dawn and her daughter, Brianna." He winked at Dawn.

Dawn blushed. "Go to work!"

Ash sighed. "Awww but I want to stay here."

"One of us has work." Dawn stated. "I'm assuming that means me since you don't want to go but you're going to have to."

"Okay, okay." Ash relented. "Lunch?"

Dawn wanted to roll her eyes. It's like she was crushing on a child. "Yes we can meet for lunch as usual."

"Great!" Ash grabbed a hold of Dawn's hand and kissed it. "See you at one."

He confidently walked away from the office, not knowing that he left Dawn a wreck of feels.

"Mommy, mommy!" Brianna greeted Dawn at the front door.

Dawn took off her coat and placed it on the coat hanger. "Let me at least fully arrive, parrot." She said.

Brianna pouted. "That's so not fun anymore."

Dawn laughed. "Alright, what's got you so hyper tonight? Don't tell me May let you eat the entire Nutella jar? We all agreed you could only have three spoonfuls a day."

"I haven't eaten anything sugary since the cookies I ate for lunch." Brianna objected.

"Well, I give." Dawn said as she sat down on the couch. "What's up?"

"Tomorrow's Show & Tell at school."

"Already?" Dawn asked curiously. "I thought that wasn't until next month."

"No mom." Brianna said. "Next month is bring-your-parent to school day."

"I was certain that was next week." She said, glancing at her planner. "No, wait you're right."

Brianna laughed. "You're silly."

"Well, don't keep me in suspense." Dawn said. "Tell me what you're showcasing."

Brianna pointed to her Poketch. "This!" She said proudly.

"Why the Poketch?" Dawn asked confusedly.

"I love it! It's the first present given to me that was thoughtful." Brianna stated.

"You thought the Piplup alarm that Zoey gave you was the closest thing to swiss cheese." Dawn couldn't help but point out to her daughter. "And let's not forget Kenny's gigantic Piplup plush."

"Moooooooom." Brianna whined.

"What? It's the truth."

"The watch Ash gave me is way cooler than some alarm or a plush I got when I was four."

"I'm telling Kenny." Dawn said.

Brianna stuffed her cheeks with air. "But then I'm not going to get any Christmas presents!"

Dawn laughed. "Should have thought about that before you called their gifts lame."

Brianna hopped on the couch and hugged her mom. "Don't tell them. I promise I'll play with my Piplup plush! Besides, it's Zoey's alarm that wakes me up for school."

"That's true." Dawn said.

"I might have been using the Poketch's alarm these days though."

"Okay you parrot I'm calling them tonight."

"Mooooooom!"

{-}

"Mom, is Ash coming over again tonight?" Brianna asked a couple hours later. May had gone home not that long ago.

"I don't know." Dawn admitted.

"I hope he does. He tells awesome stories."

"You really like him don't you?"

"Yes!" Brianna said happily. "He's the best."

"Well, be sure not to tell him that it'll probably inflate his ego." Dawn laughed.

"You're supposed to tell someone when they're awesome." Brianna said.

"Not in Ash's case."

Both Brianna and Dawn laughed.

"Anyways, May tried to help me with my homework today."

"Ah, did she?"

"Mhm! I was doing the multiplication tables and she thought I was stuck. So I proved her wrong by reciting them from memory."

Dawn shook her head. "Yeah, May doesn't know how gifted you are."

"We should tell Ash, her and the others."

"It's not like I can put it in a conversation." Dawn said to Brianna. "Pass the garlic, by the way my daughter's a genius."

"You're exaggerating mom." Brianna said laughing.

"I'm the one with a cheeky, way too smart parrot for a daughter." Dawn said as she tickled Brianna. "I can exaggerate all I want."

"Mooooom!" Brianna said between fits of giggles. "I give, I give."

"Not until you admit I can exaggerate all I want." Dawn said.

"Never!" Brianna said.

"Tickle attack times one hundred!"

"Okay, okay." Brianna said. "You're my mom so you can exaggerate all you want."

The tickles ceased. "Thank you very much." Dawn said as she let her daughter go. "If you're all done with homework why don't we watch a movie?"

"Really?" Brianna squealed. "I know just the ones we need to see!"

"I said one, Bri. Not five."

"Three." Brianna said.

"Two." Dawn said.

"Okay two." Brianna relented. "But they're both going to be Barbie films."

"Aren't they always?" Dawn said laughing and standing up from the couch. "Go get your movies and I'll go make us popcorn and drinks."
