Season: Hi guys! WHOA! Two chapters in one month!? WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON? I'm amazing *flips hair*
This is a short, sad but also sweet update. Sad as in feels sad. Like last chapter, I wanted to show once again how hard it is to be a working parent and still care for your children.
Dawn's slowly realizing just how much neglect she is having on Brianna's social life. Of course this doesn't mean she's a bad mother! We all know the interactions they share at home and with their close friends but when it comes to school related things... well, things could be better.
My heart ached as I wrote this because not even I had realized just how much Dawn doesn't realize she has no clue or knows about her daughter.
I foreshadow that this is only a small amount of the feels we will endure. THERE WILL BE MORE PAIN IN THE FUTURE!
Which brings in to spotlight a certain review from wayyyyyy back in July.
"The story isn't bad, but I do sorta miss the original version since it had a bit more of story to it versus adorable fluff. But fluff isn't bad either."
thewookie1 is correct. The original version is different from this version of the story but let me point out that back then, I still had no clue exactly where I wanted my story to go. I now have an idea and I am extremely pleased with how it's turning up.
I hope that you all still bear with me as we continue on this journey. Thank you for your support!

Stupidity Does Not Earn You Heaven

The month passed uneventfully and soon summer was behind them. The leaves started to change then fall off the tree, signaling the beginning of autumn.
May had to leave on a quick trip to Hoenn due to something going on in her company. Max, her brother, needed her help so she had to rush on over. Ash decided it was better if he, Dawn and Brianna carpooled together to where they had to be. So he showed up earlier than usual.
"Good morning ladies." Ash said as he rolled down the window.
"Good morning!" Brianna chirped excitedly as she opened the back door to the van.
"It's too early to be up." Dawn groaned as she went to the passenger side next to Ash.
"Mom why are you always this dramatic in the morning?" Brianna complained.
"Don't worry... I brought coffee." Ash said raising a store bought styrofoam.
"You're a lifesaver." She said as she kissed his cheek then buckled up.
Ash glanced to his girlfriend in disbelief, but shook his head and decided not to comment.
"Kanto Elementary, right?" Ash asked Brianna.
"Yep." Brianna nodded. "You make a left then after the big tree you make another left, then you'll see-"
"I know where it is kiddo." Ash interrupted.
"Sorry." Brianna said, twirling her fingers. "I'm just excited because today is the first time mom is taking me to school."
"I'm the one driving." Ash said as he pouted.
Hearing Brianna's words made Dawn fill with regret. Ever since they got to Kanto, she always depended on May who was more than happy to babysit the seven year old. She was starting to realize that she had become distant with her daughter.
"You should be excited!" Dawn said with a bright smile. "Now you can brag to your friends about your pretty mom."
"I always do that." Brianna said. "They just don't believe me anymore, and have started to say that I'm adopted since me and May look different."
"That's quite rude of them." Ash couldn't help but state.
"Well, it's better than Sinnoh's private academy." Brianna said with a shrug.
"Why didn't you tell me this?" Dawn asked.
Brianna placed her hair behind her ears and sighed. "I didn't want to worry you. I thought I could handle it myself."
"Is that why you wanted those chips that everyone seems to bring?" Dawn asked.
Brianna nodded. "I thought I could become like them."
Dawn stared at her daughter. "You don't have to be anyone else but yourself sweetie."
"Dawn is right Bri." Ash said as he pulled up to the entrance. giving her his bright smile. "You are you and you don't have to change that for anybody."
Brianna nodded. Taking a deep breath she opened the door. "I better get going."
Dawn opened her door as well. "Let's go." She said.
"I can go by myself." Brianna said a bit apprehensively.
"I know," Dawn said, "but I really want to see your class." She glanced to Ash, and he simply ushered them along.
"I'll be at the parking lot." Was all he said. "Take your time." He mouthed to Dawn.
"Thank you." She mouthed back. She extended her hand to Brianna. "Lead the way."
Brianna flashed a smile as brightly as Ash's. "My class in on the second floor so we'll have to go up stairs that are wayyyyyy bigger than the ones we have at home."
"You little parrot! That's your secret to eating so many pudding cups without gaining any weight." Dawn said as she tickled Brianna.
Brianna laughed. "Mooooom!"
"Brianna?" A voice interrupted. A woman with hair in pigtails ran up to where they were.
Brianna looked to her left. "Hello Miss Imite." She said as she waved with her free hand.
"I thought that was you but it's rare to see you here so early." The woman waved back.
Brianna let go of Dawn's hand. "Ah... My babysitter had an appointment today, so mom dropped me off."
Dawn bowed. "Hello, I'm Dawn."
Duplica bowed as well. "How do you do? I'm Duplica Imite, I'm the drama teacher."
"Very nice to meet you." Dawn said.
"Nice to meet you as well." Duplica said. "Brianna talks a lot about you."
Brianna glanced away from her teacher and her mom. This was embarrassing for her.
"Well, Bri rarely talks about school at home."
Duplica raised an eyebrow as if in disbelief but then waved her hands. "Don't take it personal."
Dawn sighed. "I feel it's my fault to be honest, I should talk and listen more about her daily things."
"Brianna says you work super hard to provide for the both of you, she loves you." Duplica assured Dawn.
"Of course I love my mom." Brianna said as she rushed to Dawn's side.
Duplica smiled. "I never said you didn't." Then she listened as the bell rang. "You should start heading to class."
Brianna nodded as she bowed. "Yes. See you after lunch Miss Imite."
"Have a great day Brianna."
"You too, miss." Then Brianna started tugging at Dawn's shirt. "Come on mom we have to go up the stairs."
Dawn let herself be tugged over. "I'm going, I'm going."
"And then you can say hi to Professor Bill." Brianna said. "He's the funniest one."
Dawn nodded and simply looked around the school as they walked. She had been here to fill out Brianna's transfer forms but that had been it. Her guilty conscience came back, and she swore to herself she'd do better.
Brianna broke her away from her musings and they started to go up a flight of stairs.
"After this, we only have to go down the hallway." Brianna said. "My class is the door to the right."
Dawn quietly remembered it.
Once they walked down the hallway Brianna pointed to the board that was before the door to her classroom.
"Here we display our art projects or the professor usually gives some kind of news." Brianna said. Dawn walked up to the board and began to look for Brianna's.
"Seems like you guys have a trip to the museum coming up." Dawn stated.
"Yeah, we're supposed to get the permission slips this week." Brianna said.
"I have it today." A voice piped in.
Dawn and Brianna both turned around.
"... what in the world?" Dawn voiced out loud.
In front of them was a gigantic Pokemon.
"Good morning." The Pokemon waved.
"Good morning Professor." Brianna waved back.
"You never told me your Professor was a Kabuto." Dawn said bemusedly.
"He does something like this once in a while." Brianna said.
"Well, we're learning about fossils recently and I wanted the class to be familiarized with one before we go to the museum." The professor said.
Both Dawn and Brianna nodded.
"Would one of you be so kind as to open the door?" He asked.
"Ah, right of course." Dawn said as she went to open the door to the classroom.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
They went inside and the professor struggled to sit down on the chair. Dawn watched silently.
"Do you need any help professor?" Brianna asked.
"I admit this might not have been my greatest idea." He said. "Thank you Brianna, I would indeed appreciate the help today in class."
"I'll be happy to help." Brianna said as she went to place her things at her desk. She was in the back row, right next to the window. "Mom this is where I sit."
Dawn walked over and sat down. "No, I believe this is my seat."
"Mooooom!" Brianna said laughing.
"Whoa! What a great view."
"Yes, that entire row has a awesome view of the city." Professor Bill said as he was writing something down on the board.
The bell rang once again.
"Up mom, class is going to start and I need my seat."
Dawn pouted. "But I'm so comfy." She said and Brianna stared.
"Good morning professor." A trio of girls began walking into the class.
"Why are you dressed like that?" One of them asked.
"Don't question it." Another one of them said.
"Good morning!" Brianna chirped to her classmates.
"Ah, good morning Brianna." They said as they glanced her way.
"Wait, why is someone in your desk?" A girl pointed.
"She looks just like you, but older." The other girl noticed.
"Whoa you're right!" The first one said.
"Is she your sister?" The third one said.
Dawn took the compliment excitedly. "I look so young?" She said as she stood up from the desk.
"She's not my sister, she's my mom." Brianna said.
"WHOA!" All three girls exclaimed.
"I thought your mom was May." The third one replied.
"No, this is my mom." Brianna said and watched as Dawn was making faces now.
"Hello!" Dawn exclaimed.
"And goodbye." Brianna said as she started to push her mom out. "You have work to go to."
"But I want to stay here longer." Dawn said.
Brianna could only shake her head. "Mom... did you forget about Ash?"
Dawn paled. "He's going to kill me."
The girls watched the interaction amusedly and the rest of the class which was starting to come in one by one simply stared confusedly.
"I'll see you at home mom." Brianna said once they reached the door.
"What do you mean? I'm coming by to pick you up."
"I thought I was going home alone." Brianna said.
"You're only seven Bri." Dawn said wanting to roll her eyes. "Anyways! Don't forget to eat your lunch. I packed you those new cookies. Share with your friends okay?" She said the last part loudly.
"Of course mom." Brianna said.
Dawn nodded and leaned down to kiss her daughter's cheek. She then gave her a hug.
"I'll see you at three." Dawn said. "Nice to meet you professor."
"Likewise." The professor said. "Brianna, please go to your seat so we can start class."
"Yes professor Bill." Brianna said as she hugged her mom once again. "Bye mom!"
Dawn hugged Brianna back then started to walk through the hallway towards the stairs.
"I just hope I can find my way back." Dawn said to herself.
"Nice of you to finally return." Ash said as Dawn opened the door to the van.
"I was in Bri's class for the longest time and then I got lost." Dawn said as she hopped inside and buckled up.
"Well, while you were out socializing I called Melody and Misty to tell them we'd be late." Ash said proudly.
"I forgot to tell them..." Dawn said.
Ash glanced to his girlfriend. "Dawn, honey breathe."
"I'm a bit overwhelmed." Dawn said as she took deep breaths and tried to calm herself down.
"Let's get you some more caffeine." Ash said as he drove out the parking lot.
Dawn sighed. "I really don't deserve you."
"What can I say? I'm a great catch." Ash boasted. Dawn instantly agreed.
Between work, lunch and thinking a lot about Brianna, the hours passed by in a blur for Dawn.
Three o'clock rolled around faster than she had anticipated.
By two thirty Melody and Misty were pushing her out the office.
"We'll message you if we burn the office." Misty joked.
"We have everything under control." Melody promised.
Dawn wouldn't be so sure but by now she knew that they were reliable. "You better!"
"We'll reschedule your three-five o'clock appointments for tomorrow and we'll close the office and send you a picture." Melody said.
Ash knocked from the front door. "We have to go Dawn."
Dawn glanced towards Ash. "You're coming with me?"
Ash jingled his keys. "Who's the one with a vehicle today hmm?"
"Lead the way, Ketchum."
