Narrator: You guys are just getting an update because writer is excited about tomorrow's Pokémon Update at 10am her time. She is hoping it's a Diamond & Pearl remake.
Season: BRING IN THE DAWN! I'M READY! Also before anyone starts yelling to me, "WHY!?" Let me remind you that this is A/U. You should have realized by now you don't see Pikachu as often. And that's because...
Narrator: You're too lazy to write Pikachu scenes in?
Season: NO! Pikachu in this A/U is actually okay with being in its Pokeball. That's all I will say about it.
Narrator: You can't just change canon material like this!
Season: I've been doing that since chapter one... Anyways! The lullaby Ash sings to Brianna is actually two songs hence why I used both italics AND bold to signalize a change. One is called "Song For A Stormy Night." By Secret Garden. I love them so much! Go check them out if you're having issues sleeping. Their songs will knock you out! Or calm you down at least if you're stressed out. The other is "Lullaby For A Stormy Night" Vienna Teng. They're both so pretty!

"Rise and shine!" Brianna yelled from the campsite. "Early Caterpie gets to befriend the Wurmple."
Gary poked his head out his tent. "Don't start..." He pleaded.
"And you don't make me get the megaphone." Brianna said.
Gary groaned. "Just don't."
Tracey unzipped his tent and walked out, stretching his arms out. "So what's all the ruckus about?"
Ash walked over. "Lovely morning isn't it?" He said as he kissed Brianna's cheek.
Brianna hopped and leaned towards Ash. "It looks great for fishing."
Gary groaned. "I hope all you catch end up being Magikarp."
Brianna stuck her tongue out. "I hope all you catch are Magikarp." She mimicked. "I hope a Beedrill doesn't let you sleep any longer!"
Gary shook his head. "That doesn't even make... Oh, yeah."
Brianna grinned.
"This is our tenth Magikarp." Brianna said as she pouted. "I'm beginning to think Gary cursed us."
Ash patted her head with one hand as he kept the other on his fishing rod. "No, he didn't. It's just this is a very active lake for Magikarp is all."
"Eh, why?" Brianna said.
Ash shrugged. "I'm not entirely sure."
"Don't Pidgeotto tend to eat Magikarp?" Brianna asked. She was wondering why in the world there were so many darn Magikarp.
"You're right so it doesn't make sense they hang around in a lake near a forest..." Ash said as he glanced around as if hoping an answer would hop by.
{A/N; Don't look at me! Shush.}
"Anyways, I'm bored." Brianna said as she picked up her fishing rod and placed it down. "I'm going to go take pictures for future reference."
"Okay just don't go too far." Ash said. "Remember the safe zone limit." He said. Brianna nodded.
"And if something happens?"
"Scream as I run back to camp." Brianna recited from memory. "Someone will come help me."
Ash placed the rod down again as he grabbed a Pokeball off his belt. He passed it to Brianna. "Here just take this."
Brianna took the pokeball in a confusedly manner but waved as she ran off excitedly.
He went back to fishing and sighed. "Maybe I should give up too..."
Less than five minutes had passed and Ash heard a scream. He quickly packed the rods, grabbed his backpack and ran towards the noise as it was where Brianna had gone off to.
Brianna's less than ten minute adventure alone happened like this.
A flock of Pidgeotto caught her attention so she wanted to snap a picture with her Poketch. She had forgotten to turn the flash off. They seemed a bit annoyed at the light and quickly dived down to the source. Brianna noticed they were coming closer and calmly tried to make them not come closer.
"Stay away." She said standing her ground. The Pidgeotto all seemed to want to peck her and that's when she got a bit nervous and began to scream and run away.
"HELP!" She screamed at top of her lungs. The Pokeball she had gotten from Ash began to flash a light and out came Pikachu, who quickly came between Brianna and the flock of Pidgeotto.
"CHUUUUU!" It said as it used Thunderbolt. The Pidgeotto all flew away after that.
Ash sighed in relief as he saw the spark of lightning. He ran towards it and found Brianna hugging Pikachu tightly.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" Was the first thing Ash asked Brianna as he got to where they were. "Thanks for keeping her safe, buddy."
Brianna let go of Pikachu and quickly ran into Ash's arms. With a shake of her head she nestled her head into his shoulder. "I'm fine just a bit spooked." She bit her lips to keep them from quavering.
Ash nodded as he hugged her. He lightly pressed circles into her back to calm her down and tried to remember soothing songs his mother had sang to him when he was a child.
You are safe here with me.
Oh, I am a vigil here.
I promised I always would love you,
If skies would be grey or be blue,
I whisper this prayer now above you,
That there will always be you.
Sometimes, we're just like the weather, changing by day after day
As long as we'll be together, storms will pass away.
I said I would guard and protect you. Keep you free from all harm;
And if life should ever reject you,
that love would weather each storm.
I promised I always would love you,
If skies would be grey or be blue,
I whisper this prayer now above you,
That there will always be you.
For you know, once even I
Was a little child
And I was afraid
But a gentle someone always came
To dry all my tears
Trade sweet sleep the fears
And to give a kiss goodnight
Well, now I am grown
And these days have shown
Rain's a part of how life goes
But it's dark and it's late
So I'll hold you and wait
'til your frightened eyes to close
"But it's not even late, is it Bri?" Ash asked when he felt Brianna's breathing finally slowed down. She didn't respond because she was fast asleep in his arms. He sighed nostalgically as he tried to rummage through his backpack for the picnic blanket he had packed.
He asked Pikachu to arrange it neatly in the patch of grass. When it did so, Ash laid Brianna down and placed his jacket over her. Patting her head as he always did, he sat next to her.
"I guess I'll do like the song and keep vigil until she wakes up, huh Pikachu?" Ash whispered softly.
"Pika!" Pikachu said as it hurried and did a quick defensive pose.
"Okay, I'll sleep too." Ash said, "but just ten minutes."
"Are you serious!?" Gary asked in disbelief at the sight in front of him.
"I can't believe they made us look for them and yet here they are, asleep without a care in the world." May stated.
"I'm gonna wake em' up." Gary said as he grabbed a stick and walked over towards Ash.
"But they look so cute!" May whined. "At least let me take a picture first okay?"
"You have five seconds." Gary said.
"That's not enough time!" May complained as she was setting up her Poketch.
"Three seconds woman." Gary said.
"You are so annoying." May said pouting. "No wonder Ash hates you so much."
"We're childhood friends," Gary said as he placed the end of the stick near Ash's face and began to poke him. "It's only logical we would fight with each other."
Ash began to wiggle and roll over after a minute of Gary's poking. "Stop it, Pikachu."
"I'm not Pikachu you moron." Gary said as he poked him harder with the stick. "Wake up before we all die of hunger because of you."
"Five more minutes mom..." Brianna said as she swung her hands around. She had hit Pikachu, who had huddled up next to her. Then rolled over and grabbed unto Ash's jacket tighter.
Pikachu woke up rubbing its eyes. "Pi?"
Gary sighed. "Seriously, it's like you two are related."
May squealed at the footage she was recording. "Pikachu was protecting Brianna wasn't it?"
"We're in a forest infested with both bird and bug Pokémon alike." Gary couldn't help but state. "What do you think it was doing?"
"That must have been scary." Tracey said as he, Gary, May and Dawn heard the story of what happened to Ash, Brianna and Pikachu.
"It's been less than a day and you guys already ended up getting a flock of Pidgeotto angry." Gary retorted. "Typical."
"Don't listen to him what else is on the agenda for the day?" Tracey asked.
"I'm no longer sure that this is territory we should explore with Brianna." Ash said.
"Anyone could have told you this!" Gary couldn't help but exclaim.
"I'm sorry I let her go on her own." Ash said to dawn. "I really shouldn't have done that."
"She was within the safe territory that Tracey marked for us on the map and she's unharmed, that's all that matters." Dawn said as she pressed her hand to Ash's.
"She's no longer spooked at least." Ash said as she glanced to Brianna who was comparing Poketch pictures with May.
"She'll be fine." Dawn said. "I'm more upset at the fact that she hasn't come to me for comfort like she did for you."
"I think she's way too stubborn for that." Ash said, not wanting to embarrass himself and Brianna over the singing he did to comfort her earlier. "Besides it was me who just tried to calm her down."
"Thank you." Dawn said.
"No need to worry." Ash said, quoting Dawn.
"Okay can we all just eat lunch now?" May said as she and Brianna walked towards the grill.
"YES!" They all yelled together.
Ash was walking ahead of Dawn and Brianna, scoping the area to make sure nothing happened to them like it had to Brianna in the morning.
"It's cute," Brianna whispered to her mom. "Yet he doesn't have to try to hard."
Dawn giggled. "Just let him."
"Onwards!" Ash said proudly as he returned back to their side.
"Where are we going?" Brianna asked.
"There isn't really much to do in the forest if your goal isn't to catch Pokémon or be hurt by them." Ash admitted. "But I thought us three could enjoy the scenery."
"Like you and mom did last night?" Brianna asked.
Ash coughed. "Errrrmm... sure."
Dawn blushed. "It could be similar, but not the same."
"Why not?" Brianna asked, blinking with wide curious eyes.
"Yesterday was yesterday and today is today munchkin." Ash said.
"Right!" Dawn said. "Everyday is a new experience."
"Exactly." Ash nodded.
"Ah I get it." Brianna said as she grinned. She walked ahead of them by a couple of steps and placed a finger to her lips. "Yesterday was a secret."
"Should we remind you whom was the one who made us go on a walk, hmmm?" Ash said as he ruffled Brianna's hair when he caught up to her.
"I did!" Brianna said proudly, as she linked her arms with him and Dawn.
"And we thank you for that don't we Ash?" Dawn said.
"We do." He said as they glanced to each other with a knowing stare, then pressed their lips to each of Brianna's cheeks.
"And that's your present for it." Dawn said.
Brianna pulled them closer. You're very welcome mom, dad."
Ash and Dawn's smile could light up the entire region for days with how bright they seemed.
