"Drive faster!" May stated as she leaned forward on the seat. She was sitting in the back space of Gary's convertible. Gary and Tracey were in the front.
"If I drive any faster we'll get detained by Officer Jenny." Gary couldn't help but blurt out. "Stupid woman."
"They'll get there before us you idiot." May said poking Gary.
"I'm doing the best I can." Gary said with a sigh. "Would you stop that?"
"May just breathe. Do you want to get there in one piece or with scratches?" Tracey stated from his side, he was next to Gary.
May sighed as she leaned back into the seat. "Fine." She said with crossed arms.
"Thank you." Gary mouthed to Tracey.
"I saw that." May said as she leaned forward again to put the radio up.
"Nuh uh! Driver picks the music." Gary said, swatting her hand away.
"The driver focuses on driving." May said sweetly. "One piece, remember?"
Gary couldn't help but grumble about his bad luck.
May, Gary and Tracey arrived safe and sound.
"I still don't know how in the world you managed to get all of us to be able to even come near, never mind .insidethe restaurant, but I'm not complaining." Tracey said. He was dressed in a blue shirt, black tie, navy blazer and dress pants.
"I've been wanting to eat here since it was announced but I never thought I'd be able to." Gary stated. He was wearing a black leather jacket, white dress shirt, and black dress pants.
May squealed happily. "I know right? My dad has connections since he's a gym leader. I'm just sad I had to lie to Dawn about it though since I knew that Ash was planning something." She was wearing a pink dress with a white coat on top and a butterfly pin on her hair
Gary shook his head and sighed. "If you scream any louder, I'll pretend I don't know you." He said as he placed his sunglasses on.
"Excuse me for being happy." May said with crossed arms. "Cilan! Over here." She said as she noticed the green haired chef.
"May, hello. Thanks for stopping by."
"Are you kidding? Thank youfor letting us all in."
"Any friend of Ash and Norman is a friend of mine."
"I'm his daughter." May said laughing.
"That too." Cilan stated. "Also I know you're probably here to witness and record the special moment that Ash has planned but you aregoing to at least order something right?"
"Are you kidding? I wouldn't leave this place without eating." Gary said.
"Ditto!" Tracey said.
"Great. Ash should be arriving soon so follow me and I'll get you seated before they see you."
May grinned. "Following!"
Cilan seated them in a place where they'd be able to perfectly see Ash and the others but they wouldn't be able to see them. "I have to go back out to greet everyone but let me know what you'll have when I come back okay?" He said as he gave them all menus.
"Of course. Take all the time you need."
"It's a school night and we're literally going out of Pallet Town." Brianna couldn't help but state as she watched the trees pass by. They were currently an hour and a half into their drive.
"We're almost there." Ash replied as he was typing something into his Poketch. He hit send and then went back to watching the sights with Bri.
"It's literally trees." Brianna couldn't help but state. "And I'm pretty certain we passed half of Viridian Forest by now."
"You're right." Ash said. "We passed most of the forest."
Half an hour later they finally reached their destination. Dawn got out of the limo staring in disbelief.
"Are my eyes deceiving me or are we really in front of Cilan's Restaurant?" Dawn couldn't help but ask.
"... Maybe?" Ash said with a shrug.
"May and I have been talking about this restaurant for a month now."
"I know."
"This restaurant officially opens tomorrow."
"I know."
"We couldn't get reservations, even with May trying to get connections via her dad. We just couldn't."
"I heard it ispretty hard to get into." Brianna said. "Since it is the second restaurant that Kanto is getting rated five stars."
"I know I went there with Ash for our first date but Kanto's Delight won't ever compare to Cilan's Cilantro." Dawn said. "Cilan is a connoisseur."
"Well thank you mademoiselle." A voice said.
Dawn looked left and right and finally found the voice. "C-Cilan?" She said with a gasp.
"Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you." The green haired chef smiled and waved.
"Likewise!" Dawn said. "I'm Dawn and I'm so sorry we're here unannounced."
"Unannounced?" Cilan blinked and glanced to Ash. "You didn't tell them?"
"I was about to." Ash said sheepishly. "You see... We're going to eat dinner here."
Dawn and Brianna both gawked. "What!?" They said together.
"Cilan and I are old buddies, we used to travel together when I was in Unova. So I kind of asked if he could let us eat here when the restaurant opens tomorrow but he is letting us eat here tonight instead."
"We're having a limited pre-opening event, less people and I'll be able to offer a better service." Cilan said. "It's the least I can do for a close friend."
Dawn finally closed her mouth. "Wait, so we'll really be eating here? Before most of Kanto?"
"We have about ten tables tonight give or take, most are for the press so yes." Cilan stated.
"I am really dreaming aren't I?" Dawn said hyperventilating.
Brianna pinched her lightly. "Mom... I'd know if I were in a dream."
"Let's go inside before you faint from the shock." Ash said.
"I'm about to faint alright."
"... Surprise!" Ash said as he wrapped an arm around her waist and let Cilan lead them inside.
Pictures were taken by reporters when they realized that the three of them weren't press.
"Comment for Kanto News?"
"I love your dresses who are you wearing tonight?"
Dawn was gasping for air at this point but Ash grounded her. When she caught her breath she smiled. "Sorry, I don't know who I'm wearing and uhh... comment?"
"How does it feel to be here before anyone else?"
"A shock for sure." Dawn said.
"I'm excited!" Brianna stated.
"Can you four hold a pose so we can use it as the front page image?"
"I guess?" Dawn said. She glanced to Ash, Cilan and Brianna.
"Sure." Cilan nodded.
Ash kept his arm around her waist, and gently pushed Brianna to the front of them. Cilan went behind them and did a peace sign. Pictures were instantly snapped.
"What are your names?" One of the reporters asked.
Dawn stood silently for a bit. Ash gripped her hand and smiled to the camera. "Ash, Dawn and Brianna Ketchum." He said.
The reporters wrote it down. "Great! We'll let you eat silently but if possible can we get a couple words when you're done about the place?"
"We'll see." Ash replied courtly. "We really need to go to our table now thank you."
"Thank you for coming please enjoy your meal." Cilan said to the press.
Dawn breathed a sigh of relief when they were left alone. "I forgot how stressful that part is."
"Tell me about it." Ash said.
Cilan smiled. "Something you get used to over time. Now follow me your table is this way."
Their table turned out to be in a private corner, as if Cilan knew that something like this could happen. Ash helped Brianna and Dawn sit down. Cilan went to get menus and glasses of water for them.
"I guess I can see now why you made us dress like this." Dawn said.
"Sorry, I really wanted it to be a surprise."
"Oh, I'm surprised alright." Dawn said. "You're lucky I didn't run out." She added waving a finger. Ash pouted. Dawn sighed. "And even more lucky that I love you."
Ash's pout turned into a grin. "I love you too."
Cilan came back and poured water into the three glasses, giving each of them a menu. "So tonight, to give you a better experience, we only have about a third of what we normally have available. I apologize for that by the way."
"No worries!" Dawn said. "I'll eat anything you guys have ready I'm sure it tastes delicious."
Cilan smiled. "Thank you. We have seafood, soups, chicken and fries. The pasta selection isn't available tonight."
"Yes! The one I wanted to have is actually here tonight. I'll have the chicken a la Cordon Bleu."
"Fantastic choice." Cilan said with a nod. "I oversee that station myself actually."
"Awesome." Dawn replied.
"May I have the spicy fries with barbecue sauce please?" Brianna asked.
"You certainly can." Cilan said as he wrote it down.
"I'll have a soup." Ash said. Everyone gawked in disbelief.
"Is that all?" Cilan asked, eyebrow raised.
"Nope." Ash replied. ""It's to wet my appetite. I'll have the chicken blue thing afterwards."
"Cordon bleu." Dawn said giggling. She, Cilan and Brianna breathed a sigh.
"Yes that. I trust your judgement and Cilan's cooking so I'm sure it'll taste delicious."
"The order of chicken comes with either soup or spicy fries so if you'd like you can just order the soup with the chicken. Which would you prefer Dawn?"
"Spicy fries please."
"Bring me my soup Cilan please. I'll share my spicy fries with Brianna."
"One soup, two chicken a la Cordon Bleu with side order of spicy fries coming right up." Cilan said. He took the menus.
"Wait, you're not asking what we're drinking?" Brianna asked.
"Oh, Ash already ordered drinks ahead of time. For you Brianna, a pink lemonade, and for him and Dawn, sparkling wine."
Brianna blinked. "Huh. Well, okay."
"You are seriously something else Ash." Dawn said with a shake of her head.
Ash placed a hand on top of Dawn's. "I'm always thinking ahead when it comes to you so maybe I am something else but just for you."
Brianna stuck her tongue out and pretended to gag. "If you're going to be lovey-dovey all night I'm leaving back home in the limo ahead of you."
Ash and Dawn laughed.
"It won't be allnight." Ash said. "Maybe half of it."
"We wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable parrot." Dawn stated, agreeing.
Cilan returned, bringing a glass full of pink lemonade, two empty wine glasses and a bottle of sparkling wine. He opened the bottle and poured it on the wine glasses about half way. "Imported from Kalos, this is the best we got." He said as he bowed and winked at Ash. "Enjoy."
"Thanks Cilan." Ash said.
"Kalos? Wow! I've always wanted to try it. I also hear their clothes are magnificent too." Dawn said as she took the wine glass from the table.
"It is fashion city for sure." Ash said nodding.
"Let me guess; you were there on your travels too?" Dawn said as she took a sip.
"Yep. I went there after Unova but came back empty handed. Huh, I should really call Citron."
"Citron was the one who shipped the box over." Cilan said as he returned with a jar full of pink lemonade. "He says hello." He said placing it on the table.
"How do youknow Citron?" Ash asked confused.
"I got to Kalos about a week after you left for Alola. Met Citron and Yurika by complete coincidence. I heard Serena went to Hoenn but I think she's back in Kalos again."
"Seriously is there any region you haven't been to?" Brianna asked completely in awe.
"Galar." Ash said with a laugh. "Maybe we can all go together."
"I have a restaurant to run so I'm going to have to pass Ash." Cilan said with a smile. "Enjoy your drinks I'll be back with the food in a bit."
"Thanks Cilan!" Dawn said.
"You're very welcome."
"Sooo... Kalos and Serena, huh?" Dawn said with a raise in her eyebrows.
"Really? That's what you got out of that conversation?" Ash couldn't help but state. "She was a travel companion along with Citron and Yurika. She's pretty much a sister to me, like May."
Dawn laughed and placed her wine glass down. "I know. She's practically Kalo's princess."
"Haven't heard from her since I went to Alola." Ash assured Dawn.
"Competitions there are called showcases... I think." Brianna said. "But they're similar so I'm certain you could become Kalos Queen if you wanted mom."
"I'm not interested in being queen of anything Bri." Dawn said.
"You're already the queen of my heart." Ash stated.
Dawn glanced to Ash. "D'awww!"
"Seriously?" Brianna said as if rolling her eyes. She took a sip of her lemonade and pretended to gag. "Someone get me out of here."
Dawn and Ash laughed.
"My apologies. That took longer than expected." Cilan said as he walked back to May, Tracey and Gary's table.
"No problem. We've been having a blast taking selfies and pictures of the restaurant." May said.
"You were at least." Gary stated.
"Are you ready to order?" Cilantro asked.
"Yes, I'll take the spicy fries with some cheese dip." Gary said.
"Where's your manners?" Tracey said with a gasp.
"... Please."
"Thank you." Tracey stated. "I will have an order of chicken with fries please."
"Certainly." Cilan said jotting it down. "What about you May?"
"The spicy fries sound great. With a cheese dip as well as barbecue sauce please."
"And to drink?" Cilan asked.
"Passion fruit juice." May said.
"Soda for me."
"Orange juice please." Tracey said. "Seriously you both lack manners."
Cilan laughed. "Hey no worries. I'll be back soon."
Tracey sighed and sat back on his chair. "It's like babysitting children." He said as he loosened his tie a bit.
"Well at least I look good." Gary said as he leaned his sunglasses down and winked.
"I think they only let you in because Cilan vouched for us." May said as she pretended to fan herself.
"You're the one who looks ridiculous." Gary stated.
"Have you looked in a mirror?" May said as she stuck her tongue out.
"You all look great." Cilan said as he brought out their drinks.
"See?" May said as she crossed her arms again. "He thinks I look great."
"He has green hair." Gary retorted.
"Now, now. Behave." Tracey said as he raised his arms.
Cilan grinned. "Really, no problem at all." He said as he walked back out again. "I'll be back with your meal and drinks shortly."
