Season: So this was supposed to be out for Mother's Day BUT I wanted to add just a little bit more and I'm glad I waited because the end scene is just hilarious to me. Delia finally meeting Dawn and Brianna sounds exciting to write and I'm looking forward to what their interactions will be! Delia and Johanna meeting first should melt the ice though. Not that there's any ice but it's going to be fun regardless. As usual thank you to everyone who has stuck by this long. Enjoy the chapter!

Stupidity Does Not Earn You Heaven
by: Season Of Magic
{~}
Dawn was stunned beyond words. The last person she expected to see for her birthday was her very own mother. Yet here she was. It was completely a shock to her. Hence the reason why she yelled out 'mom' the way she had done.
May and Ash took their hands off her shoulders, noticing that Dawn was clearly fidgeting, and they were right. Brianna also let go of her mother, and Dawn quickly got up from her seat.
"Mom!" She yelled once again. "How? Why? I mean... hi..." She was a grown adult, but here she was, acting shy and like she had been a kicked puppy. "Oh mom I'm so-"
Johanna walked over to her daughter, enveloping her in the biggest hug she had ever given her. "Dawn, dear you don't have to say anything. I know sweetheart."
Tears rolled down Dawn's cheek again. "Mom..." she tried to wipe them they kept flowing. "Mom... I..." she wrapped her arms around her mother as well. She needed this hug. "I missed you mom and really I'm so so so sor-"
Johanna did not let her daughter finish. The first thing she did was softly pat her head. "I know sweetheart I know." She casressed her cheek, wiping away her tears. "You don't have to say it. A mother knows. And you don't have ANYTHING to apologize for. A mother is forgiving, a mother is always there for her child, a mother is understanding. A mother is a mother even if she's far away. But you know that, don't you?" She glanced from Dawn to Brianna. "You did a wonderful job darling."
Johanna took an arm off Dawn and beckoned Brianna over. Brianna rushed to their side.
"Grandma!" She chirped happily, as she gave her mom and grandmother a hug.
Johanna laughed. "I'm not that old am I?"
Dawn couldn't help but laugh as well. "You don't look a day over fif-"
Johanna placed a finger to Dwen's lip. "Don't finish that sentence: A lady never reveals her age."
Dawn laughed again.
"And these are the plushies you sent me." Brianna happily waved a arm around as she showed her grandmother her room.
Johanna smiled with a bit of a questioning look as she tilted her head. "I can see you have a theme here but I'm not entirely sure what it is."
"Pokémon and princesses." Dawn piped in. "She's still in a bit of a Barbie phase."
Johanna nodded. "I see." She was making note of it.
"They are great but do you know what is even better?" Brianna exclaimed with outstretched hands.
"What?" Johanna asked amusedly.
"To finally get to meet you grandma. I'm really happy you're here! We will have so much fun and I will get to learn all about your days as a coordinator and how mom was when she was my age and oh oh oh..." Brianna took a deep breath. "You... are staying right?"
Johanna smiled. "A couple of days was the plan." Then she looked at Dawn. "If that's alright with you dear."
Dawn's smile couldn't be brighter and bigger if she tried. "Of course! I was going to ask the same thing. We have so much to catch up on. One day isn't enough for it."
Brianna jumped up and down. "YAY!"
Everyone was settled in the dining room table with the snack foods from the party in their plates.
Brianna was dipping chips into a salsa dip, basically having a competition with Ash on who got their tongues hot the faster. They started with mild salsa and were leveling up to medium in less than two minutes. Ash dipped his and was waving his hand.
"Pfft this is child's salsa." He said as he took a bite.
"Agreed." Brianna stated.
Dawn raised a eyebrow. "Seriously?" She was dipping her chips in cheese salsa dip. "Nothing is better than this."
Johanna laughed. "You always did prefer cheese dip over salsa. That's not changed I see."
Dawn nodded as she dipped a couple more. "If it's not broke don't fix it."
Gary was eating a cupcake, Tracey was munching on cookies and May was just sipping to be annoyed.
"You couldn't spare us even one glass of wine?" The brunette grumbled to Dawn as she downed the soda. Then she laughed.
"My party my rules." Dawn said.
"You don't even know there would be a party."
"My house my rules then."
"Oh alright fair but don't forget I have a key."
"You can have wine on the weekend." Dawn consoled her. "You know, when you're not babysitting a child."
Brianna and Ash were now fanning their mouths, reaching for cups of water.
"Make that two children." Dawn rectified her answer.
"I think milk might help more." Tracey suggested.
"Tracey no! Let him suffer." Gary mumbled.
Tracey sighed. "I think they're all children." He couldn't help but utter to Dawn as May was mixing soda, milk and water together then passed it along to Brianna and Ash. .
Dawn nodded. "Agreed."
Johanna ate her food in silence but couldn't help but pipe in after seeing the weird concoction May had done. "I'm not sure that will be helpful. Or safe to consume."
Tracey sighed in agreement. "I'll go get the stomach medicine just in case." He said as he stood up.
"There's a bottle on the fridge." Dawn said. Tracey nosed and wa off to the kitchen.
"Sorry to say but it's only half a bottle now. Ash and I made some hot wings last thursday that well..." Gary couldn't even finish the sentence clearly embarrassed. "He didn't have any in his house so we came here."
"Wasn't lMay grocery shopping that day? How did you guys get in?" Dawn could only stare.
"You told all of us and I quote underneath the Pachirisu statue is the emergency key."
"Emergencies don't mean oops my fiancé and his best friend were being dummies." She said laughing, she was kind of upset she missed that spectacle now. It must have been interesting to see them scramble to her house for medicine.
"That's exactly what emergencies mean darling." Ash winked. "Love you." He said as he finished gulping down the drink.
"You are banned from eating spicy food ever again." Dawn said with a shake of her head. "And I love you too. but you are sometimes too much."
Brianna was staring at the cup May had handed over to her: "I'm not drinking that."
Johana and Dawn both sighed in relief . simultaneously.
Tracey came back holding the stomach medicine, two spoons and set them on the table alongside a packet of chewable tablets. "I didn't even know these came in chewable form."
Dawn placed a hand on her cheek. "When you have children you have to have options. It's how you compromise."
"Chewable tablets are so fun." Brianna couldn't help but say. She eyed the cup again. "Maybe I should..."
"No!" Gary took the cup away from her before she could think about it. "Don't be a garbage disposal like Ash."
Dawn giggled. "And you."
"And me... HEY!"
Dawn laughed harder.
"The gar in garbage is for Gery, who knew?" Ash couldn't help but retort.
Gary pretended to roll his eyes. "How original."
The rest of the food was eaten in relatively silence other than Brianna asking her grandmother various questions and Dawn asking some of her own, things were were quite calm. Until it came time for Johanna to depart to her lodgings for the night.
"Mom you didn't." Dawn was rather upset by that. "There is plenty of space here."
"I didn't want to impose dear."
"Mom!"
Johanna sighed. "It's only for the night, I'll be back early morning."
"And then you will leave to the airport?" Brianna asked rather upset as well.
Johanna showed them her Poketch which had her reservation. "I'm lodging there for a week. It's only been a day and you want to get rid of me already?
"What? No." Both Dawn and Brianna replied.
"Mom seriously. You don't have to stay at a hotel."
Johanna couldn't help but utter, "it's a bed and breakfast inn type place actually."
"There aren't any hotels here Dawn I thought you knew that after being here like what, a year? You're practically a local." Ash teased. "The only place like that around here is..." and he suddenly went silent.
"I didn't know that." Dawn replied. "And why do you look pale are you alright? It was the weird concoction wasn't it?"
Ash waved a hand. "I'm fine. It's just that the place your mom is staying at is definitely the inn my mom runs."
"Your mom runs an inn!?" This was clearly news to Dawn.
"It's why she has so much time to sew on her hands." Ash replied rather sheepishly.
Johanna glanced between them. "Ah, I see."
Ash glanced back. "You meeting my mom before Dawn is kind of terrifying a bit. No offense."
Johanna laughed. "None taken. I won't pry for childhood tales or anything of the sort."
"Doesn't mean my mom won't offer any once she finds out you're Dawn's mom." Ash mumbled.
"There's plenty of those I can tell Dawn already." Gary piped in. "And seriously? You haven't taken your fiancé to meet your mom!?"
"Shut up Gary. Dawn's been busy, mom has the inn to run and frankly speaking there hasn't been time. But it doesn't mean mom doesn't know about Dawn. She's the one who made the dresses for when I asked her to marry me and she wants to make Bri's dress but of course I don't know whether she'll be a bridesmaid or flower girl yet so we haven't really discussed it. Not to mention she also wants to make Dawn's wedding dress and of course host the engagement party that's when she will meet them so THERE."
"Alright no need to get riled up." Gary simply shook his head.
"I thought I was going to be both?" Brianna asked. "I am sure neither of you know any other child and it's not as if I would let them take the spot either way."
"Of course you're going to be the flower girl and the youngest bridesmaid munchkin." Dawn eased her worries. "And May is going to be the maid of honor. Don't tell Zoey I said that. She, Melody and Misty can be the other bridesmaids."
"And of course Gary will be my best man. Tracey and Kenny can be the other... groomsman?" Ash said tilting his head. "He's your friend Dawn so of course we can't leave him out. And Zoey would kill me if I did."
"Thank you Ash." Tracey smiled fondly. "I appreciate it. I'm sure Kenny will as well."
"He just wants the chance to tell me what to do." Gary grumbled.
May squealed. "I am the maid of honor!"
Dawn laughed. "You and Gary better get along then."
May shrugged. "Eh I'll deal with it."
"Do I still have the chance to say no?"
"Who said you had a choice? We've been friends since we were little it's obvious you were going to be my best man."
"We're friends but like deep down. So deep I sometimes even forget that we are." Brianna mimicked Ash laughing about it.
"They are funny aren't they?" Dawn said.
"Yes!"
Johanna was grateful that Dawn and Brianna had such wonderful people in their life. "That certainly gives me more reason to go over then. We should both talk and come up with a compromise. I want to be a part of the wedding in some way. I am the mother of the bride after all."
Dawn nearly choked up. "Mom."
Johanna smiled wryly. "You only get to see your daughter get married twice, right?"
Dawn chuckled. "That first one was a almost mom."
"Let's hope she doesn't leave me at the altar as well and then ends up almost marrying a guest of the wedding eight or nine years later." Ash replied just as wryly as Johanna.
"Ash!" Dawn hit his shoulder playfully.
"Dawn!" Ash replied back. "It happened didn't it?"
"Only because Paul is a jerk. No offense to your father Bri. You're wonderful but he's not."
"Who's that?" Brianna replied cheekily. "I only know Ash as my father."
"That's my girl." Ash replied.
Johanna stood up from the table. "Well if things are settled here, I have a co-mother-in-law to meet."
Ash got up as well. "Let me take you mom."
"Thank you son."
"Did you two get the same sense of humor all of a sudden?" Dawn seriously questioned.
"When you realize the irony of life dear, it makes sense." Johanna said.
Ash went to fetch his soon to be mother-in-law's bag. "Exactly."
Dawn sighed, glancing over to Tracey as if wondering something. "Maybe I should have dated you instead. You seem normal."
Tracey laughed. "I am a scientist. I'm the furthest from normal you can get."
"Darn it." Dawn pretended to sigh again. "Guess I'm stuck with you Ash."
"There's no one else I'd rather be stuck with honey."
"Except your roommate?" May winked.
"I'll give you a eviction letter soon."
"You can bunk with me." Gary piped in.
"Awweee! Love you too Gar." May said.
"That's not what I said."
"It's what you meant."
"When's the wedding?" Tracey asked.
"Can I be your best man Gary?" Ash asked right after.
"Do you even have to ask?"
"No but just in case you know."
"And there isn't a wedding." Gary said. "Let's get through Ash's and Dawn's first."
"It can be a double wedding." Dawn said. "See? I can make jokes too."
"Ha ha!" Gary mock laughed.
Now everyone was up from their seats and laughing.
The night ended as perfect as it started.
