I wrote this after reading The Amazing Spider-Man: The Life and Death of Spiders. Shathra made me SO mad, and reinforced this idea I have that there are the villains that are evil, and the villains that are just plain mean. Shathra is in the latter category.

Disclaimer: The closest I've ever gotten to owning Spider-Man and Shathra was when I saw J. Michael Straczynski at Comic-Con. And that is the closest I will ever get.

"Litttle one. Little spider. So far from home. So far from your mother. Shathra smelled you on the other side. Followed the scent across the darkness. Little one. Little spider."

-Shathra, The Amazing Spider-Man v2 #46: Unnatural Enemies by J. Michael Straczynski

Her name is Shathra

But she doesn't deserve a name

She's crossed that line between helping herself and hurting others

Between being evil and just being wrong

She breathes just to take the breath from others

Smiles just to take the light from someone's eyes

Her eyes glow white and her body burns black

And the sky around her fades into nightmares

Her voice lilts in deadly prose

Spinning lies and taunts into webs of fear

Twisting want and need into hurt and pain

Destroying life

Destroying love

Destroying trust

Creating emptiness

Her name is Shathra

Her name is death
